[APP][SENSE 3.6/4/4A/4.5][2012/9/14 1.41]HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider - HTC Incredible S

This is my second Android app. I develop this little app because I prefer 3rd party launcher (e.g. Apex) than existing Sense 4 Rosie. Existing hacked Sense 4 Rosie (full version) currently doesn't support non Sense widget correctly and is less feature-rich than many other launchers.
Even if you install a 3rd party launcher, Rosie still consume your precious memory as a system service. But if you freeze Rosie and thus release it from memory, you'll lose your lockscreen app shortcuts. After painstakingly reviewing the codes in HTC shortcut components, I found that Rosie actually act as a content provider to supply information of its launcher bar shortcuts to lockscreen. So without Rosie, lockscreen has no information to construct its shortcuts. Therefore I wrote this little app to replace the role of Rosie as the content provider. What's more, it allows you to select your own apps with a simple config screen and store the data separately. And it doesn't stay in the memory permanently.
Installation instructions:
Uninstall Rosie (Freezing doesn't work because Android doesn't allow two content providers of same type) ** You're reminded to make a backup first **
Install HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider
Run Lockscreen Shortcuts
Select your app for the 4 shortcuts
Hit back to save settings and notify HTC lockscreen
MD5: 908C34BB0DE29F44279F8C5EA4137627
** Currently this app has been tested to work with Sense 3.6, 4, 4A and 4.5 **

Change log
1.41
- New option to hide app title
1.4
- Add support for Sense 4.5 (thanks Patrics83 for testing new version and support!). You MUST uninstall any previous version first.
1.3
- Add support for Sense 4A
1.2.1
- Fixed FC when loading installed apps
1.2
- Add support for Sense 3.6
1.1
- Added broadcast message to HTC lockscreen so no reboot is needed!

Limitations
You have to reboot the phone to allow lockscreen to load your app shortcuts. I'm still trying to figure out the way to notify HTC lockscreen for any changes. (If you know anything about this please PM me)

ah perfect! will give it a go soon

1.1 just posted. No reboot is required now!

I've loaded in Apex, and now wish to uninstall Rosie. Can you advise how to do this? Which programs to remove and where do you go to do that?

Just use Titanium Backup to backup and uninstall Rosie. You can also delete the Rosie.apk in the /system/app/ folder in Recovery by brute force.

Many thanks for that. I haven't got titanium. I might go hard and fast. Just go into the app folder and delete. I've got a full backup, so if worst happens I just restore.

I'm having problems loading your program. Being a zip I guess you load it through recovery but I get an error every time I try.
Edit
I just reloaded and then hit view (I've never seen that option before) and it's there! Now to try it.

I don't understand your problem. My app is a standard Android APK file which can be sideloaded with any file manager. You should not flash it through recovery.

Sorry. It must be the way it down loaded. 2nd time round it installed without a problem. It works great.
I've had a bit of a play and the unlock options are there. I'm not sure I gained as much free memory as I hoped but any gain is better than none. And I really am not a fan of Sense so any chance to thin it out is good.

Very cool man, thanks for creating this and sharing it!
Edit: I can confirm your app works on Sense 3.6. I uninstalled Rosie and used Apex launcher as a replacement and your app allows me to successfully choose the lockscreen shortcuts. Great work :good:

I got reports from other users that on Sense 3.6, if you use the lockscreen shortcut to unlock your phone, the phone will be unlocked but the app is not launched. Can you confirm if it's really working?

Damn I never even thought of testing that, my bad. You're right, it shows the app but doesn't launch it.

LOL, never mind. At least I know the problem is consistent in Sense 4A. I'll work on that. :good:

Today I did some testing on various Sense versions and would like to let you know my findings:
Hybrid 4A (e.g. UKB X on IncS) - OK
Sense 4.1 (e.g. ViperX on One X) - OK
Sense 4A (e.g. UKB V on IncS) - No shortcuts in lockscreen
Sense 3.6 (e.g. ARHD on IncS) - Lockscreen shortcuts appears and update correctly but shortcut app cannot be launched when unlock
At this moment, my first priority is to support Sense 3.6. After that I'll work on 4A.

Just posted 1.2. Now supports Sense 3.6.

Posted 1.2.1. Fixed FC introduced in 1.2.

[Q] Sense For Froyo?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784116
will this work with the froyo roms available for the hero?
Thanks in advance
I've just tried the launcher with my FroydVillain 1.5 Hero, but it buged out the launcher at the bottom.
I installed the ADW launcher in the zip and tried with that, but for some reason I had my phone icon and browser icon overlaying the sense phone and the adw settings button. I have uninstalled, but will be giving it another go at some point. You never know, it could well work for you!

Same! What do you think is causing that , the best i could do to fix it was turn the size down of the buttons in the menu
Not sure what causes it. Going to he doing some looking thus weekend if I manage to get some free time.

Update - didn't have any free time! Don't know what i was thinking that I would!
Anyways, I have downloaded the ADW theme template in eclipse to see what controls what with the themes - this will likely take me an age... I apparently do not have any time!
Anyone else have any updates to this? Really want to get this working as it would kick ass with widget locker and fancy widget!

The Samsung Music player is extremely sexy, integrated with the notification bar, has a great ui, and a 5.1 channel surround sound virtualizer.

[MOD] No-Sense++ v1.6 for all Sense roms! || LGMOD 1.4 (Lots of addons in one zip)

About No-Sense++ and LGMOD
This is a modified or 'advanced' No-Sense script. It is No-Sense, but it removes more Sense. Personally i think this is the best balance. Nice Sense parts are kept, while useless parts are removed. It comes with a Gingerbread launcher with 3d app drawer instead of Sense Launcher.
It will work on all Sense rom's!
LGMOD is a mod compilation which contains iOS Crusher boot animation, Sense 3.0 Camera, S3 USB Interface, S3 Lockscreen (with Settings->Personalize remapped to lockscreen settings), Whiskey103's Daemon Frequency's for RCMIX3D_1228_384_122, removed recent apps, Advanced Power Menu, Flying Animations, CRT On/Off, Extra Quick Settings XL, tweaked autobrightness settings, Trace keyboard, volumed ringtones (louder), modded browser to allow more tabs and Stock%Battery tweaked to Hybrid by me.
For arhd 5.1.x and 5.2.x only.. (and it should work on any 2.36 based rom with buzz kernel, or 2.50 based rom with rcmix3d kernel)

The only reason I kept facebook for htc sense is that it syncs high quality contact pics. Official facebook doesn't do that. Friendstream is needed to let facebook for htc sense work properly.
I'll upload an extra script though, for people like you who want to remove it to.

Hey Luko, nice one. Is it too early for a feature request?
I would love to see the awful HTC "People" contacts app replaced with the plain AOSP Contacts app or something very similar. The People app's cluttered, fussy interface drives me nuts but Google Contacts' design is unimpeachable.
Sorry if it has been answered, but i have been using Launcher pro instead of HTC Sense for a while, does installing non-sense cript remove Launcherpro and my launcherpro's settings??
Really dont want to do all the setting over again.

I presume you're talking about Genie. Yeah it's great for small phones like the G1 but it's not really adequate for a large screen is it.
For a News ticker, I like gReader pro - it gets the same Google content plus whatever other RSS feeds you want to add, it's a better reader with more options for sync, storage and display, and it has a prettier 4x2 widget with a translucent "smoked glass" type canvas.
As for HTC Weather, it doesn't bloody work at the moment anyway. The one in Fancy Widgets does though, it's better at locating your town, it has many widget styles including H7C which has near-exact copies of the HTC home, superclock and weather widgets, and it works on non-Sense shells.
FWIW while I'm on the subject ;-) for shell I run ADW Launcher EX, I love the themability and the flexibility and the speed is fine on a powerful phone like the DHD.
I tried the SPB mobile shell 5.0 beta on this phone for a while and I loved it, but the range of SPB widgets is of course limited in the beta and the configuration keeps borking itself (screens randomly exchanging labels, it keeps forgetting which one is the home screen, all your android widgets vanish each time the shell restarts. YMMV though).
When a production version finally arrives I am sure it will annihilate virtually everything else, it's just too gorgeous for words. Hurry up, SPB!

I can try to do that, but as I remember it also brings some issues because its linked to the dialer. Also its not as easy as with the lockscreen (if you remove it you get aosp lockscreen back without further actions needed)
Personally I like the htc contacts app and dialer. (never tried aosp ones)
If you have a good alternative as replacement I can try to add it.

Sorry if it has been answered, but i have been using Launcher pro instead of HTC Sense for a while, does installing non-sense cript remove Launcherpro and my launcherpro's settings??
Really dont want to do all the setting over again.

No mate, it only removes sense. So in your case it cleans up and speeds up your system but you wont really notice a change since you are already using launcherpro. You can remove 'launcher' from your apps after flashing this script. (it is the gingerbread launcher that comes with the script)

I tried removing it a few times but that resulted in having no dialer at all. Haven't found a replacement either. Also I've read that it comes with some issues because its integrated in sense.

Can this script be used on revo 2.1?

Thats not good. I really dont like HTC Dialer when I saw Android default one.
Maybe you can try to port this one: forum.samdroid.net/f9/mod-contacts-apk-phone-apk-w-315x315-callerid-eclair-2-1-froyo-aosp-cm-3339/
also Cyanogenmod AFAIK uses default phone app.

No, I have to make it compatible first. These 2 versions include a build.prop file from 3.x and 4.x
Upgrade to 3.x and flash No-Sense++ 3.x or wait till I upload a 2.x version.

Honeycomb Style

Hi,
is it possible to get the Honeycomb-Style (Theme, Icons) without root?
Or is it neccessary to root the phone and use CM?
EDIT:
I found the "Go Launcher EX" with "Honeycomb" but I don't like the other features like switching the homescreens.
Try honeybread for the cm7 theme chooser:

Ah okay.
So rooting my Nexus S is necessary.
There is also a honeycomb theme for launcher pro plus (don't need root for that)

To change the status bar, etc. you need root, you can either use a .zip and flash the theme, or use a ROM which supports the themechooser. This isn't required though as you can create your own theme easily via UOT Kitchen.
My suggestion is:
1. Root your phone.
2. Install either Oxygen or CM7, both includes the themechooser.
3. Download and apply Honeybread HDPI Theme.
4. Enjoy.
This way you won't have to mess with the kitchen or anything, and you'll have the Honeycomb style you're after.
Hope it helps
Thanks for the fast replies!
I think I will root my phone today
Great.
It works.
Thanks!
EDIT:
And this works, too.

There's a small problem now.
I tried to install a clock/date widget but if I open the drawer on homescreen there is no widget to choose?

Not sure what you are asking... you hold down on the home screen and select to choose a widget.
Well, that's the usual way to place a widget.
But my installed widgets aren't listed. There are always only the standard ones.

[Q] Custom gestures for Sense 5?

Does anyone happen to know of an app that would allow me to continue to use the Sense 5 Launcher and have a "swipe down" gesture command that pulls down the Notification Bar? I really want to try and use Sense 5 to at least give it a shot but I also want to be able to swipe down on the home screen to pull down the Notification Bar. (I'm so used to having this ability from other custom Launcher apps that I really don't want to give up that feature). If there's a way to tweak Sense 5 or an app I can install to just enable this one gesture command, I'd be happy. :cyclops:
Thanks to anyone who has any helpful suggestions, it is much appreciated! :fingers-crossed:
Did you solve ur problem?? I also want this app

No, I'm afraid I couldn't find anything that allowed me to do this. I caved in and put Apex Launcher on my One after realizing I also really needed to be able to use custom icons on my phone. (The default Sense 5 icon for the Phone app is awful (IMHO) and really looked bad with the other icons I have in my Dock).
You could try giving this a go...

Awesome! Thanks buddy!
If you're interested in gesture controls you may want to take a look at gmd gesture control. The app is quite amazing in what you can control by gestures anytime (not just on home).

You can have custom icons if your Rom uses xposed installer, with unicon
