[Q] What's currently the best battery for i9000? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I've been owning my wonderful i9000 for two years now, and for a few months battery life has become terrible, even on stock GB ROMS (i'm currently on a CM10 nightly, and it lasts no more than.. 12 hours on moderate use, 6-7 in regular use.
So I've decided to test its capacity with Nova Battery Tester (pretty good app btw), and the result showed me that it had dropped to 750 mAh, that's to say half the stock capacity.
According to the result, and due to my financial incapacity to buy a new Android Phone for now, I've decided to buy a new battery, but I can't decide which one to choose.
I'd really appreciate if some of you could give me some advice.
Have a nice day!

In time batteries will lose there capacity. This is something you cannot prevent. It's caused by some chemical stuff inside your battery. You'll need a new one.

Yeah, I figured it out, that's why I asked advice on which battery to buy (a stock one, an extended one...)

You can buy a 1650mah one which is the same size or a bigger one but it will require a bigger back case. Watch out for fakes (eg. "3500mah from Hongkong")
Go to the Accessories section of the I9000 forum, lots of battery threads.

I’ve got a 1800mAh one which is same size as stock one.

Apparently the galaxy s plus has a 1650mAh battery, which supposedly also fits in our regular i9000 phones. A Dutch webshop sells it here, no idea if they're shipping to other countries though. It's a small 150mAh upgrade.

Very Poor battery Life

First of all let me say, I got my Nexus One about 2 weeks ago.. Rooted and flashed Desire rom as soon as I got it..
I didnt like it it seemed to run slow.. So I flashed CM 5053 on it.. I can't remember if I wiped between flashes, but I think I did
Anyway, my battery life is totally crap, is there a correlation between not wiping and an improper CM5053 flash?
I have a friend with the exact same setup who gets like 5 more hours than I do
I fully charge to 100% battery drops to like 98% 2 mins after I unplug.. One full day at school minimal use and its like 15% when i get back, thats 9am - 5pm
Help!
PS, i've tried Task managers.. no bueno...
Try recalibrating the battery.

Ok thanks I'll try it.. So just to be clear, if I didnt wipe before Desire to CMOD its okay? No conflicts?
You should always wipe when switching ROMs.
I'd say wipe it all and re-partition

Also you can try using the undervolt kernel, i think it works fine for everybody. its always a bit hard to be certain, but it gives you more battery time
I'm having the same problem... Any fix?

and try an undervolted kernel. I recommend one from kmobs.
I am sure you have read a lot of battery threads already so rather than rehash considering your struggling pretty hard I would suggest going to a rom that is known for better battery life right off the bat. Enomther and the newer version of cm are both better and benefit further from an undervolt. For cm I would consider grabbing the bundle rom with pershoots undervolt already built in. Less hassle and you are already familiar with it. After that at you will be on a less thirsty rom and can start looking at the little stuff like turning off apn in weak singal areas and the rest.
I use enom and UV and my battery life doesn't beat my old G1, but I was comparing it to my friends 3GS and it was on par. I really wish they stuck a bigger battery in these suckers. Battery life is the one thing that's holding me back from going Desire rom. I would absolutely love to run desire on my N1
I agree if you search Google iPhone users also complain me killing their battery in 6 hours flat. so I don't feel too bad about it.
I like to think that my friend kills his iphone in the same time I do with 2x the screen rez, ram, faster processor with 10 widgets running and live wallpaper
Your phone would not of booted if you didnt wipe, No matter what I try, I cannot get a desire to cm or cm to desire without a wipe. I either get a bootloop or am stuck at the bootloader.
hey dude, i had the same prob. couldn't get my battery last more then 6 to 10 hours depending on the use. i read all the threads i could find and did try all the teeks and apps from the market i found. did get some small results, but never nothing relevant. only if left the phone on stand by all day without playing with it i reached 14h. but i mean really not touching my phone. that option simply wasn't for me because i didn't spend more than 600 € to leave it on stand by all day. so, i did the following: went to by at espansys online a official spare battery plus a unofficial dock from "ORA" were i now can charge both the phone and the spare battery - can charge both at the same time, but that's not necessary because since i always have another fully charged battery and only have to change the empty one on the phone. the phone gets a full one and at that time i put the empty one in the charger. after max 3 hours it is fully charged and i can use(after turning the alimentation so it don't. continue charging) the dock to put the phone on it having it were ever i am (work, home). when you are at a secretary it's much easier to navigate through the phones menu having it in the vertical... at least for me. even better is the fact that my official spare battery lasts at least more 1/3 more time giving me 16 to 20 hours depending on use. even that is after the best pro i did get is this: i have no need the restrict me since i use one battery for lets say 10h with the horse one, after that i change. and get more 16 hours (my Last day of use, intense use). spent 96€ in both items. for me outcomes any other solution i read on the threads mostly because i don't want for now to root my phone. it's only my example but i gess yous guys should know about. if i wasn't a knew member i would post some pictures, but you can simply go to the espansys web site and look for "ora cradle for Nexus One" and off course the official spare battery. both very easy to find
i even get around the fact google didn't realleased N1 in Portugal, some don't dispatch the battery to Portugal. also the official home dock don't charge a spare battery. that's all.
Cyan 5.0.5 has really bad battery life for some reason.
Upgrade to 5.0.6 or try Enoms ROM, both of which give me mush better battery life.
Oh and switch to 2G until you actually need fast data (i.e you are web surfing / downloading something). I use a little 2g/3g switch from the market to do this quickly.

Battery life

For those who owned this phone, how's battery life so far for you?
very good, and getting better for each charge
with a normal varied use of the phone I can get almost 2 full days use - compared to the same use lasting only 1 day on my HTC Desire, Samsung SGS and my Iphone 4
That's weird. There are reviews of bad battery life..

Like others mentioned. It shows rapid drained to begin, but gets really good after a week or so

not weird
Reviews were of early pre production units with an early software
Relased production units are naturally better - in many ways
From the first day the batterylife has been better that any of my other phones (see signature). My usage style is really heavy too. As others have reported it keeps getting better at least it has improved every day for the week ive had it.

How does it compare to Nexus S and iPhone 4?
Anyone know of the above?

Yup, saw it already. Not very good for a dual core processor phone.
Sad.
Well the batterylife will be better on gingerbread and up since our fancy dual core isnt supported in 2.2
send from mah ubersmexy tricorder
Yeah, but gingerbread also doesnt support dual core right?
I kinda forgot if it was gingerbread or honeycomb hmm eitherway on a next update it might improve allthough as previously posted before it gets better after some charge cycles also letting the battery drean all the way down and than fully recharge +2 hours additional charging a month improves battery drainage in general
send from mah magic toaster
But I heard people saying that by doing that, you are actually harming the battery life. I'm not sure, maybe someone can come in and clarify this.
Since 7.30 this morning (3h ago) with 3g, a little app sorting, and 30min of music ive lost 52% battery. This is rooted, factory-restored and with frOzen unnessesery apps.
Also it seems that now, a week old, the battery is getting worse and worse Since it reached its peak 2 days ago.
Help please

I guess not, some others are facing the same issue too. How long is your set already?
if you mean how much battery its now; 29%
the stragest thing is, as i said, that it was better 2 days ago

Tests here made on a preproduction unit with prelaunch software making this test slightly useless as anadtech should now.
Both stability and battery life are better on production units being sold after launch with a more mature software.
This test should be repeated now with a production unit to have any validity.

[Q] Should I buy the ZR?

Hi everyone, I'm considering replacing my old phone with a ZR. I don't mind that the ZR was launched is 2013. The reasons I'm considering this phone:
Removable battery
Good battery life
Waterproof
I read on GSMArena that the battery life is great. I've read people saying they can get 1.5 to 2 days moderate use. Is this true?
Please share the pros and cons based on you personal experiences. (yes, i've read similar questions posted here, but I'm also curious about recent numbers on battery life?).
Thanks in advance

Battery life depends on individual usage. XZR is not great but good phone mid range.
For me, the cons are low internal memroy ( should have been 16GB like XZ ) and very poor front cam if you are selfie person.

There are definitely many worse phones than ZR out there.. Since i've got this phone a year ago it has been flashed constantly, apk's installed installed/uninstalled constantly... I dont know how many times i've dropped it on the floor and been caught out in the rain with it and still it is here, booting up without complaints...
On stock rom i never got better than about 20 hrs battery life and now on custom rom about 24 hrs... Great phone thjis...

That wholly depends on whether you want REMOVABLE battery or LONG-LASTING battery. Since your battery is removable, it is inevitable that the battery suffers wear-and-tear far sooner than non-removable ones because there are all sorts of things that may place themselves between the battery and the contact point, that may include dust, moist, droplets of whatever liquids, etc. As a result, even if the battery started great, it WILL deteriorate at a noticeable speed. That's why manufacturers are reluctant to produce battery-exchangeable devices if it is not so necessary, plus that it will make it thicker and look a lot less favorable. To conclude, removable battery is a feature that puts this phone on a different category than other Z phones, but you should consider them because of a far longer lifespan, and that removable battery ain't not THAT worth it.
I am on stock latest 4.4.4 and battery lasts for a day only. But I'm using 3G so thats considerable. Also the flaps have become loose because you can not keep it open as it may break in pocket. but for charging you have open. so after some time the locks on flaps wear out. they are very hard to get. even sony does not provide it

I've had people telling me this as well but I doubt its a significant difference. My friends with Samsung phones don't have issues with this. Their batteries lifespan is about the same as an iPhone. When its at the end of its life, just buy a new battery and pop it in. Lets you keep using the phone till you really need to upgrade. Also, I like the extra option to remove the battery in case I need to force the phone to restart. I've had to do that a couple of times....when I really needed the phone work. Luckily my current phone has a removable battery. I don't want to be caught in that situation with a non removable battery.

Battery drain

Hello everybody,
reading XDA forums for a while, I now have a problem with my Mi 5, that no other thread seems to cover (sorry if I'm wrong).
I bought my 32 GB Mi 5 from gearbest in July and Battery life from the beginning was not as good as GSMarena promised. I can't recall any numbers but I blamed the "shop-version" of android and tried the stable ones from english miui site, but no luck. I even tried CM-13 but battery life there was really bad (8-10 % per hour). Right now i have the latest stable (global V8.1.2.0.MAAMIDI) and it uses almost 4 % per hour in flight mode! The funny thing: even powered of, the phone drains the battery at that rate (actually not funny)
So my question is: By any chance, is this something, which could be caused by software or is it definitely a hardware fault? Since i flashed the firmware, gearbest refuses any asisstance (warranty void).
Any idea or help is gratly appreciated!
I have got similar trouble with my mi5/64 gb.
I have been inquiring and testing with many old and new version of stock roms (meaning miui) and custom roms for several months.
Moreover, I have used and tested with many battery saving and improvement apps too. I also flashed with MPdecion mod.
I am now with the latest eu developer rom of Nougat 6.12.15....
Unfortunatelly, I found no solution no improvement. My battery life is avarage 13-15 hours.. Even it drains 4% per hour while fully powered off.
As a result, I have no more option but to replace battery with a new one (purchased from Aliexpress but not yet arrived) thou I have little hope thinking that this might be due to defected motherboard.
I may suggest you to return your device or get replaced with another one..
Hello sas_sas,
my deepest sympathties to your situation. I'm still hesitating to open the phone, but since gearbest refuses any warranty (due to flashing the phone :silly I might try between Christmas and New Year. One easy way to narrow down the fault would be to fully charge the phone, disonnect the battery and leave it for a day. When reconnected and powered up the phone shows no disacharge you could save your money for a new battery. Also i think a faulty battery would already have blown up during quickcharge.
This issue is really a shame! Xiaomi is regarded as a premium brand but i couldn't find a way to contact them to describe the obvious hardware problem. Gearbest just holds their hands in the air and blames the customer. That's really annoying.

Am I late to the party SM-T713/SM-T813?

Hi!
My Nexus 9 tablet is driving me crazy since 1st day on. I'm searching for a tablet with good ROM support and find this Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 - in variant SM-T713/SM-T813 - it's supported by lineage.
My question is to he owners of this tablet and lineage on it:
Is it worth to buy it? How is the performance with normal usage (multitasking)? Stability?

I also came from the Nexus 9 and feel your frustration. That thing is ready for the skip.
I was also thinking about Lineage on my T715 when I first bought it as I'd heard all the bad stories about Touchwiz. To my pleasant surprise, I've found Touchwiz to be so good, I've not even thought about rooting/lineage. The performance of this tablet has been rock solid since day 1, but could never be described as fast. Thankfully, it does everything at the same speed. No problems with refreshing Chrome tabs or launcher redraws like on the Nexus 9.
If you do take the plunge, just have in mind that this is getting long in the tooth so don't pay too much for it. You can also swap the order of the capacitive buttons using an app called, "All in one gestures," from the play store.
Let us know how you get on.

In my opinion it is an excellent tablet both with performance and stability. I have been running Omni Rom 8.1.0 for several months and I couldn't be happier with it. Even while I was on stock I had no issues with it. I picked my T813 up about 18 months ago on eBay for way below the going price. The price for a "New (other)" from the same dealer I bought mine is currently $260. He provides a really good 1 year warranty and has a very fair return policy. The going price for a Tab S3 is $390 which I think is way overpriced for it.
Just my opinion and you know what they say about those.

Thank you.
I've got one new for 230 Euro in ebay.
2 things are terrible with this tablet and lineage
1. Can't charge over night the tablet to 100% - slow charging
2. Something eats battery in flight mode and display is off. - 25% in 4 hours. Can't find the reason for this
Everything else is top, but these 2 points are the killer

1. I noticed the same thing on my charger, however when I plugged the tablet into my phone charger it charged up much faster and had no problem reaching 100% overnight.
2, I don't have a clue about that. It must be specific to your tablet. I have been running for 3 days and 6 hours and still have 37%. That is with moderate usage playing Hay Day and Word Crumble some as well as some reading.
I've flashed omni and there is the same. Over night from 80% to 7% without display on, without using any app. That's apolutly a no go.
Now back to crap - Nexus 9
Sadly google stopped supporting tablets.
Samsung is bad because bad software support (look S8/S9 and oreo updates). With my S6 Edge I had also problems that I decided no Samsung anymore. I did it again and now the Tab S2 is going the same way back to eBay, if I get it charged to 100% in 2 days... .
Totally disappointed
I think that you had bad luck.
I've t719,LTE version,and the battery life it's very good.Usually,the LTE version it's more intense battery killer,but I managed to squeeze two days without charging,without games,only browsing,music,email.
Something it's wrong, try to buy from another source.

With Stock battery seems to be ok. But lineage and other 8.1 is very bad. And I bought this tablet because of these custom ROMs. Samsung is not supporting this tablet for 8.0/8.1 so I thought it will be nice with 8.1, I thought.... It will.....
Now I understand.
If so,you don't have many choices with good tablets with custom roms support.
At 8" screen, almost no choices, because Mediapad M3 and M5 from Huawei are not so popular.
Cheers
Yeah.... And Huawei closed his bootloader, so no chance for any custom ROM.
And how I've read the news, Google cancel his support to their tabs. Let's see what the future brings
A little bit off-topic,but I think that not the bootloader it's the problem of the Huawei mediapads, but the proprietary SOC,Kirin.
Even with bootloader unlocked, the third party development for Kirin it's almost inexistant.
Cheers
