TeckNet slim smart cover now just £3.98 at Amazon - Nexus 7 Accessories

I have tried multiple Nexus 7 cases and this is the best one I have come across to date. I bought it last week at £6 and I thought that was a good buy. For £4 it is a steal.
The case does not add much bulk like other cases available. The quality of the case is also pretty good (even if it is pleather).
The cover is kept closed with magnets and it can fold back to make a viewing stand (similar to the iPad case).
Available in Purple and Black for £3.98

why can't I find this in amazon US?
!!!

TeckNet seems to be a UK manufacturer who actually seem to have their own stuff rather than generic Chinese imports.

Is there any way to get this in the U.S?

Without the folio type covering around the bezel, this case would've been perfect.

Bought one of these yesterday and it just arrived.
Fits the device rather well, very secure with the way the velcro folds in at the spine. The magnetic bits do the trick and the device wakes up correctly. All the appropriate buttons exposed.
Main issues I have is that the cover doesn't close 100% flat (comes up a bit at the fold nearer the spine), and the cover doesn't easily fold round to the back. Hoping it'll improve over time. Does feel a tiny bit cheap but I've seen covers 3-4 times as expensive using the exact same material!
For £4 it's a bargain.
Edit: actually, new problem - nature of it covering bezel means it's harder than it should be to bring down the notification area. Still think it's worth £4 though, if you haven't got a case already. Wouldn't pay more than £6-7 for it!

Looks much cleaner with the bezel uncovered.

The folding problem does go away after a few days of use. I agree about the bezel. If the device clipped in it would be perfect.

Received 4 days ago as backup for treegloo (not received yet after a month)... Great case for the price, suggested!
It arrived with 2 scrren protector!

I just bought this one.

The Nexus 7 clips into this case without velcro as somebody mentioned earlier.
Also, the magnets are so strong I can hang my Nexus 7 on the side of a metal filing cabinet using this case.

has anyone found a decent belt holder for the streak

just about to buy the streak and want to know if anyone has found a decent holder which can fasten to a belt ... dont wanna but the streak in a pocket due to issues which users have had with the screen cracking and want something which i can walk around with and have the phone on my belt like normal ...
any ideas ????
I went to target and bought a nintendo DS zippered case. I ripped out the plastic DS holder from the inside and glued the zipper closed about an inch down the long side so it only opens across the top.
I hook the caribeener to a belt clip. it is about the perfect size. It slips in easily and has a fair amount of padding for bump-proofing it.. Can't beat it for $10.00.

Below are some pics showing where I glued the zipper closed to make it into a slip pouch and how it fits using the poly case from Dell

so you have the case just flapping about on your waist?
easecases on ebay are your best bet on a quality case at this point

It doesn't flap badly. When I get the chance, I'm going to sew a loop for another caribeener on the other side so it rides more even. I also get nervous for it while riding my harley around and a second hook is cheap and easy security.
Got this one from ebay, its fraying a bit around the edges and worryingly the screen rests against the magnets or if you flip the streak over the screen is against the metal belt hook, although i've used it daily for around 6 weeks with no damage done.

I'll second that Easecase suggestion... Don't let that 'made-to-order from china' tag drive you away, mine is pretty high quality stuff. Word of warning though: if you are ordering a vertical slip case, I would suggest requesting a slightly looser fit. Even though it fits perfectly, the large flat surface area of the Streak adds to the resistance involved in inserting/removing the phone (though I suspect the problems with mine will fade as I break the case in).
I will vote for the ease case from ebay also. They may be made in china but the fit and quality are great. They are easy to work with also.

+1 with gilrad, the only downside was that it takes about a month for it to arrive which wasn't so great for me cos I also requested for the case to be slightly bigger but they didn't actually make one slightly bigger so I have to wait another month for them to send me it...though they were kind enough to let me keep the one they sent. At first, I couldn't even fit my phone in (especially with an invisible shield on, but I've managed to stretch it slightly but it's still tough to slight in and out.

This is the one i made
I got the £3,99 flipcase from RebelSIMCard.
It has a belt clip with a lock so the case cannot slip from the belt.
Quality is not super but for the price you can't go wrong!

Just ordered my easecase... I requested that they make it slightly larger - we'll see if that works out.
BTW, you guys are going to put me in the poor house! LOL! $40 here... $20 there... I keep spending money on this darn thing! LOL!

(it also exists in "real leather")
does it protect the nook good enough? (including corners)
does it have a hole for the speaker? (I've also e-mailed tuff-luv about this one)
Availability: Expected 5th May
No one has this yet
I bought mine from ebay some weeks ago.
Whole top side is out as also the bottom left corner.
The cover has small holes at the back for the speaker.
In general is very practical for holding the nook in vertical or horizontal position.
Bought this when i got my nook one month ago because it was one of the few cases available in Germany. Seeing only the pictures first, i thought it was a bit ugly, but it looks way better if you hold it in your hands. The nook fits perfectly in and it is very well protected. the material is thick, so the nook gets extra protection, but feels different while holding (a bit thicker and soft) but not bad in any way. The standing functionallity, horizontal or vertikal is working great and if its placed it stands very firm. closing the lid works fine and it is hold well by a magnet. The case has also two slots for SD Cards, which you can not see on the pictures, but are pretty handy. I also bought the non-leather variant, because it was cheaper and i normally refuse buying stuff made out of leather and can say that it looks good and classy even if not made of real leather.
So this is a pretty good case (well, i've nothing to compare ) and with its standing functionallity it has a nice feature, so i can recommend it to everyone, especially if there are few alternatives as in Germany.
I hope i could help!
Thanks both for the quick response
I've ordered two and hope for the best!
Damn, UK store using .com instead of .co.uk p)
Anyway... Looks like U.S. Amazon currently (as of this post) only has either the real leather in black, or the faux in .... purple for the higher regular prices.
Got mine from EBAY at really lower price than Amazon.

This the the faux in black:
http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/TuffLuv-Tri...pCasesBags&hash=item2c5c0a55e1#ht_3878wt_1199
I have had one of these for about a month.
There is a hole cut out at the back for the speaker on mine, not small holes as one reviewer said.
I think it's great vertically but not that great horizontally, I don't really like the angle (too straight) and it's not that stable (the flaps are too tight I think).
Also I have to change mine because the velcro I use (top one) is now quite worn out for some reason and doesn't hold well...
The company is replacing it, no problem there, I don't have to pay for shipping.
But as pointed out it's a great case, offers lots of protection for minimal weight (I had the Sullivan Easel before, too heavy and not enough protection and "grip" but perfect horizontal angle), and I have the leather model which should be heavier than the PU one.
Nice quality product, comfy to hold when not in "stand" mode, but maybe not perfect though.
I'll see if the replacement I get is different (I hope the velcros are not the same type and the flaps are looser...)

Amzer silicone case for nexus 7?

Has anyone bought/used these before, and do they work? I have an s-line tpu case and wondered if its worth it to upgrade to this. -Ara

Amzer is a pretty decent company to buy from, and the skins are somewhat inexpensive. They sent me a few demo items to see if our stores were interested in carrying their Nexus 7 products... The overall fit was pretty snug, the skin seems fairly well made minus the edges which needed a little cleaning up. I didn't have any issues with the skin obstructing any features of the device, and it was easy to slip on and off. Here's a few pictures, hope they help with the decision making:

So just a little more feedback on this silicone skin... I dropped my Nexus 7 while getting out of my Jeep this morning (hands full and in a hurry to get to the office), and the blasted thing landed face down on concrete. If not for this skin I would instead be spending my evening searching for a replacement screen. It's by no means an otterbox, but the fact that it covers around the screen saved it.
Definitely give it two thumbs up!
Amzer silicone case
I got the black one bought at Expansys.com. It feels great, very thick rubber with a leather-like texture, reinforced with the x-shaped, thicker rubber piece in the middle that serves as an outer skeleton and adds extra rigidity. The case wraps around of all of the device without obstructing any holes/ports similarly to an otterbox impact cases. The edges serve the protective purpose. There is nothing wrong with them. They are spaced out more like the protruding edges of balistic cases. I feel confident that if my Nexus falls it will bounce off without any damage due to the case design. I store my Nexus when not in use in the bag inside a Case Logic Eva zippered case for additional screen protection.
We just reviewed one here at the office and the case does a pretty decent job. Not expensive either, so, I'd say worth the purchase.

This needs a bump, I ordered one from amazon.. and it was crap to say the least. I contacted Amzer and even though i ordered from a third party seller they offered to replace it for me for FREE! gotta love customer service! Other than that its a great case. :good:
Nice case!
I have the black one ordered from amazon as well.. It came in very quick . I agree this will protect the device from most bumps and bangs. this is the 3rd case i bought .
I am going to sell all 3 on ebay for a good price if i decide against buying another nexus 7.. not made my mind up. sent two back not sure i wanna deal with the hassles of google device support to order another..
anyway GREAT CASE for the money..

Back in the days of my Asus Transformer TF101 (first gen) I heard a lot of great things from a company called "RooCase", unfortunately I never tried them out and had ordered some poorly cut, mis-aligned cases from eBay.
So when I ordered the Nexus 7, I decided I'd give them a try. $15 for a leather folio style case was not bad in my opinion, plus it had the close to sleep and open to wake features advertised which I thought would be a nice plus. Case and tablet arrived same day, so I've had it since around 8/15.
When it first arrived, I took it out of it's seemingly retail packaging, and it had that noxious new leather (similar to new cheap plastic smell) that I dread. I used it for a few hours and the smell dissipated and is now completely gone. My gf got a TF300 case from RooCase the same day, luckily I let it air out for a day before she used it, so she wouldn't btch and complain about the smell XD
All cut outs align, and there are even cutouts in the back for the speaker. The Nexus 7 fits nicely and is secured using a velcro strap that has held up very well. The multistand option is utilized with 2 pieces of velcro on the opposite of the power/volume rocker button side. The whole inner flap is made of soft grey material which the velcro latches onto to achieve different viewing angles. This had my skeptical at first since I assumed some fraying would occur from numerous attaching and removal of the velcro when done watching somethign in landscape mode, however the material still looks like the first day, and no fraying material has occurred. However, the velcro has lost a noticeable amount of snag, it still sticks and gives me proper viewing angles, however it can be a little loppy and less sturdy than when it was new.
When typing something or even browsing I usually flip the front flap all the way around which had me concerned at first, but no tearing or major creasing of the leather has happened.
The case adds about 3 times thickness, but I'm fine with that. It's slid off my bed a few times and I hear a comforting muffled thud instead of a disheartening electronics slam, and it still fits in my pocket so I'm happy ^_^
some pics:
Open:
Speaker holes also the stylus holder- back -
angled
how i usually hold it:
No leather tears or wearing from holding it like that:

I also have the leather Roocase. I have the landscape only version. It has a nice quality fit and feel. I did not purchase the case it came with my Nexus 7 when I purchased it off Craigslist. It might be the case for the kindle fire, it does not have the speaker holes. I have been satisfied with it from day one.
It is a bit bulky, but not akward. I have not tried any other cases for the Nexus 7 so I can not compare.

Magnets on Case?

So i'm super protective about this tablet, so much so that I've had it for about a week but haven't really used it because I don't have a case Lol. I wanted a magnetic case for the sleep/wake function however I'm a bit wary about them. Don't magnets cause havoc on electronics, or electrical devices, or is that just a myth?
I want a sleek looking, sturdy case for everyday train commutes, that also works as a stand. Must be available in the UK :good:
Also looking for a screen protector. However, is it really necessary, for normal finger use? Lol
It's a myth, a strong enough magnet near a magnetic storage device like a hard drive might do harm but the magnets used in cases for the N7 are far too weak to ever do that. They have to be weak so as not to put the device to sleep when you fold the lid back.

Magnets are a bad idea near the following:
1. Magnetic storage like hard drives and floppy discs
2. CRT displays
As you can see the N7 uses none of these, the only possible problem is the magnetometer (compass) may be offset while the case is on... maybe
and mechanical watch

just check out the reviews for newer cases. some of the early ones were a little too strong and turned off the N7 when the cover folded back.
I got one of the Ultra Slim Smart Leather Cases off ebay (sorry can't post link as new member)
It's ok. The one issue I have with it is that it's actually a bit fiddly to get the Nexus 7 out of the case. The magnet works well though and have had no problems with it.
All these cases seem to bring the same thing to the table in my opinion.
Cheers, FReaKRaNT

Most cases on the market have this feature (the ones with the flap etc, normally with horizontal viewing possibilities)
Plenty of them around, found a v. reputable seller on eBay selling a case, stylus and protector for £6.99

That white is annoying and too thick tbh, I've got similar one but the sides are a little thinner
