Finally I know why I can not use the US$25 credit from Nexus 7 purchasing. - Nexus 7 General

Everyone know that Google give you US$25 credit when you purchase Nexus 7 and you get the notification that US$25 is in your payment option of Wallet account. But you can not use it when you want to purchase applications. I try to send three mail to Play support and get nothing positive replay.
Finally the grey US$25 credit is due to my fault to register my home address as TW when I open the wallet account. As soon as you register the country then you can not edit it to US. Therefore you can not use this US$25 credit in US because I register TW as my home address. This is not related to you use US IP address or not when you want to purchase application in Play store.
So, take my advice. If you want to open a new wallet account, just make sure you register your home address as US country. If you register any country other than US, you can not get it back to US. BTW, you need the US IP to register the home address as US.
Someone say you can reset the Nexus 7 and then register with other GMail account then you get extra US$25 credit. I follow this steps and open a new Wallet account with US address as home address. I just receive a mail that I have activated a Nexus 7 with this GMail account but I wait over 24 hours, I do not get the mail of US$25 credit as other GMail address I use no-US home address.
It is pity that Google does not settle agreement with Taiwan authority about the refund policy of payment, so I can not purchase application in Taiwan. My situation now is I have US$25 credit as optional payment but it can expense in Taiwan market ONLY. I have to wait until Google have agreement with Taiwan authority. Please note that this US$25 credit is ONLY valid until June 30, 2013.

I had no issues with the credit and my address is registered as in Australia.
The credit automatically appeared without any changes or intervention by me.

Same here...
I registered it in HK. And the credit was OK for a while. But someday Google start enforcing the so called home address, my credited is locked up. And I have no way to use it unless I went back to HK maybe.
This is really ..., while Google has not warning or give not way to alter that setting once it is done. And to be honest, the CS provided by Google is useless... they could only do copy&paste.

Hell, I never received a mail about those $25

It is shamed that Google lock the modification of home country, so its gift is not valid for people outside US.
I just put this thread to warn people to set home country as US when you sign in Wallet account if you want this credit become valid for purchasing on Play Store.

Free credit for those outside of supported countries

Hi all. I was wondering how many of you guys outside of the US, UK, Australia or any of the non supported yet countries have managed to claim the $25credit? Seems like some weren't able to managed to do so. This thread aims to help those who aren't able to do so, kindly post if you were able to or not able too.
Basically just in this format
Country:
Able to gain the free credit? :
If yes, kindly explain a little. Does your Google wallet have a card attached to it? US Address? And any info which might help
Thanks

Same here, from Israel, waiting for my Nexus 7 from US.
Just got mine in Portugal.
It was purchased from Ebuyer UK and as far as I've been told, all units purchased from them have the £15 Free Credit to spend in the Google Play Store. However, it seems i don't have it yet.
And yes, I have my credit card data linked to my Google Wallet account.

Same in Netherlands.
I tried to no avail. I guess the credit comes with the Google Wallet app, and that one doesn't work yet here in the Netherlands. Perhaps a proxy will do the trick.

It shouldn't, since the wallet app is US only atm. Maybe it's linked to the UK play store?
Is there a way to get it outside the selected countries?
You get the credit when you link your Google Wallet to your device.
Google Wallet will need to be backed up by a credit card/bank account in one of the 4 release countries. While you could use a proxy to sneak in you are not going to have the financial details you will need to create it. You would of course also be breaking Googles TOS which leads to termination of your account.
By Google Wallet I am talking about: https://wallet.google.com/ account not the associated NFC App which is USA only. You can have an account without the App.
Can it be done by say....
1. Borrowing a US credit card . adding it then deleting it after getting the free credit?
2. Adding a prepaid credit card?
Oh do you get the free books and the Transformers movie off the bat or do you need to activate the free credit to get those too?

[Q] Where to buy $599 HTC One unlocked with US warranty (beside HTC USA Store)?

As the subject stated, HTC USA sells the HTC One phone (UNLOCKED & with US Warranty) DIRECTLY from their website for $599, much cheaper than buying from Expansys or Amazon.
However, HTC USA only ships to the billing address of the credit card. I cannot do this because I am not home during weekdays and the package will get lost for sure. I called HTC USA Shop and they told me I cannot provide different shipping and billing address. So buying from HTC directly is out of question.
So.. anyone know?

Actually, I had originally ordered a dev version from their website. I have arranged with my credit card company to have an authorized alternate delivery address (my workplace). I called them up and they manually edited my order to go to my workplace.
I had second thoughts and went with a T-Mobile branded version (so I cancelled my order), but IIRC the order forms at LetsTalk (who actually sells for HTC) showed the new address.
Anyway, it can be done.

Go ahead and order from the HTC store, after they ship and provide tracking info go to the Fedex or UPS website and select 'customize delivery' or 'change delivery' and select 'hold for pickup' at a Fedex/UPS office near you. When the package arrives they will hold it at the office and call you, then go pick it up.

Oh wow, I didn't know you can do this for both FedEx and UPS. Thanks for the advise!
Do I have to do something special to get this customized delivery? Example:
- Pay extra?
- Need to open a business account?
Nope, doesn't cost extra. It's free because it saves the driver a trip to your home.

For UPS, there is a $5 fee to change the delivery address. Putting it on hold is no charge. You have to sign up for their premium service (don't recall what it is called), but it is free.

Because you have a profile but not a UPS shipping account number. Don't sweat it, just call them after you get tracking info, they will setup the hold.

Just a quick update - after so many days, I still don't have a "UPS Account number". At least that what is shown under "My Profile". The online account IS created though, since I can login.
Interestingly, according to this page (http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/sri/member_premium_member.html), the UPS MyChoice ALLOWS "Re-delivery to different address" for a fee.
So just clarification: for "Redelivery to different address", it looks like I have to call and no need to create an online account?

Did you read my former post? Doesn't that work for you?
I ended up getting mine from TMO (and I'm glad I did because of the AWG modem), but when I had my dev edition on order in May, I was able to call HTC and request that they ship my phone to my work address.
You have to first arrange with your credit card company to make the alternate address a valid shipping destination. After that you can use that address rather than your home address.
You do have to call HTC (how primitive!) to set up the delivery address.

[Q] Where to buy the Dev Edition?

Hello, I live in Argentina and I'm travelling in 2 weeks to the US, I wanted to buy the Dev Edition HTC One, so I got into the US HTC Online Store and bought it ( $654.94 ). Today I received an email telling me the order was cancelled. Asked why and they told me because my IP address was from outside the US and I needed a US credit card. I fought for a long time with the support and they told me I couldn't buy it.
Now I'm wondering where else I can buy the Dev Edition HTC One 64Gb and don't end up paying almost $900 for it.

You can only purchase the dev edition through the online shop with a US credit card and address. Without them, HTC would not accept your order.

I have the US address, but my credit card is international, I don't really understand why they don't let international credit cards buy phones.
Also, do you know of another way of obtaining the Dev Edition that it's not eBay (since I can't confirm my PayPal account and have the 500 dollars limit). Thanks for your data!
You could probably use some package forwarding company, such as comgateway, myus, and choose the 'buy for me' service.
The total cost including shipments should be under or nearly US$800.

Why would I need a package forwarding company? I have the address, but I need to find the way to buy it using my international credit card, any ideas? Thanks for response!
I understand your concern. However, HTC online shop accepts ONLY a US credit card. They would cancel your order if you were using an international one.
If you really want to get the dev edition, that's the only way apart from eBay. Even the retail stores, they only sell the 32GB version.

I want the Developer Edition just because of the 64Gb of storage. I've contacted Shopamerica.htc.com and I'll wait for them to answer if there's ANY chance of doing it with an international or I guess I'll just have to ask an aunt I have in the US to buy me the phone with her credit card and I'll find a way to transfer her the money. Really appreciate your responses! Thanks a lot man!
You're welcome. I hope this information will be useful to you.

Since they've subtracted the $654.94 and then refunded it to me, my aunt will try to buy it using my international credit card and check if the credit card was the initial problem or just the IP address.
Also, do someone know an online way to give her the money or to deposit that it's effective?

Thought about that but in my country we have another currency. If I buy something in dollars from eBay, I pay it in Pesos Argentinos and (I don't know if it's PayPal or the credit card bank) changes to US dollars.. I wonder if there's a way I can do that but without her having a PayPal account.

Isis Wallet: free $50

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows that you can get $50 free if you sign up for a free account in Isis Wallet, one of the bloatware apps that comes with the GS5. This happens through American Express. It's a free $50 you can use on "tap and pay" places. American Express will also send a physical gift card if you don't want

After you set up your Isis wallet you'll then sign up for the Serve American Express prepaid card. There's no fee and it takes 5 minutes. After you've signed up, they will deposit $50 into your Amex card. Then the Amex card is linked to your Isis Wallet account. They'll also send you an actual Amex prepaid card.

We have 2 Phones on 1 account (AT&T Next plan) and both lines were able to get the $50!
The fine print says sub-accounts are not eligible but not knowing this my GF signed up on her M8 and got the $50 bucks.
I've had nothing but problems signing up for this. I had an existing Bluebird account, which, I found out, you cannot have both. So I took the balance to zero, and waited for all the pending transactions to clear. Called up Bluebird and confirmed cancellation of the account. When I told them that I wanted to sign up for Serve, I was advised to use the same exact information that was on my Bluebird account to apply for the Serve account. Otherwise, I would have to wait 30 days for my Bluebird account to be fully deleted from their system.
When I signed up for Serve, I got to the first page, and it told me my number was already registered. I called Serve and spoke to a supervisor who went into my Bluebird account and deleted my phone number for that account and had me re register again. I got to step 3, and got an error that "due to technical difficulties we cannot register you at this time." The supervisor checked and said that he checked with the technical team and that the Galaxy S5 in particular was having issues with signing up for a new Serve card from within the app.
So, I'm not sure what to do here... My wife has an S4 but the ISIS app says it needs a new SIM to work... might be time for her to upgrade anyway LOL
I have got it working, if anyone is experiencing any issues it might be because you need a SIM card with safe element to make it work and also try to do it in the morning or at night when their servers aren't packed with people doing it and remember this is good until the 30th of April this year!!!!!
My wife still has the older SIM, so it wouldnt work for her. If I put my SIM in her phone I get the same error. It's because I had a Bluebird account. Despite what multiple reps told me that all I needed to do is to put my exact same information that I had on my Bluebird account into the Serve account, I still cannot complete the process. Serve has blamed my phone, the S5, but as I said, it also happens with my wife's S4 with my SIM in it.
You also get $1 back on every Amex Serve purchase of $1 or more for a little while.
You can really stretch this free money if you have an ISIS vending machine.
We have one at work that charges $1.25 for a soda. Amex Serve $1 off per transaction = 5 sodas for $1.25. After 5 ISIS taps, you get $5 in free credit on the machine.
So for $1.25 total, you can get 9 sodas.. lol.
I just did it now and worked like a charm.... took a few minutes to add the $50.

Change country code

Is there a way to change the country code so chromecast can give me the offer of 3 Free months of Google music:
I don't live in the US. My chromecast report country code as from US and I can't redeem this promotion.
The only way I can think of is to use a VPN and Factory Reset the CCast...
I think it uses the serial number anyhow and then cross references that serial number with where it was sold to. If you bought it from a Canadian retailer than its good. If not then it won't offer you anything. That's how it was when I redeemed my $20 Google play gift card at least.

I think it uses your device (or chromecast) ip too.
The only way might be using VPN or proxy.
From my own tests and what I've seen reported by others who tried to get this promotion and also the $20 Google Play Store promotion, it goes strictly by serial number. If your CC serial number is in the right range, you can get the promo. If not, no amount of fooling around with VPNs, country codes, or Google+ accounts will get it.
The serial numbers are regionalized, so Google can tell the country of sale from the serial number, and promotions can be restricted based on country of sale.
I can tell it's not restricted only to chromecast serial. I tried in 2 different chromecasts, both bought in US and none got the promotion.
Well if they are going by Serial number then changing the country code doesn't matter...
But remember you can change the country code via IP on a reboot because all the UK folks who bought US CCasts got the UK COuntry code on the first reboot after they implemented the Country code system.
It goes by CC serial, I live in Israel and the promotion worked. It's a bi tricky:
- For the first part just go to the link.
- We don't have google music here so for the second part I had to use hola chrome extension to simulate US IP.
- For the last part you need a google account which is defined as US and may also need a Google Wallet with a US address (had one from when I bought my nexus 4's so it was already set up).
Then you can use that account on your phone with the play music and enjoy the 3 months of all access.
