T-Mo Note a world phone? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note

Sorry if this has been answered, but i w as just wondering, is the Note considered a world phone? Can I go south of the border by a Sim Card and work out of the box?

It's a quad band phone with world gsm networks capabilities. But it's locked for only tmo Sims unless you unlock it then it's free to any gsm carriers

Thanx

No prob. If you have had TMobile for a while you can hit them up and say your traveling and they'll unlock your phone for free lol that's what I do... Takes around two to three days for them to send you an unlock code

Been with them for a long time now, will definitely look into that.

AT&T note is pentaband, not quad band and im very much confident that its the same hardware on tmobile note, so it should be pentaband too. which means yes it is fully a world phone not just partially.

[Q] How to find out what GSM and UMTS frequencies my SGS is using?

I'm trying to find out what frequencies my phone is using / connected to. Is there an app that will show me that information? Or maybe some comands?
You can try, System panel ,find it from market. i hope it can help you.
as far as i know that one doesn't do it
try this instead

did you see the link is above picture?
Hum...none of the above shows me the frequencies (e.g. 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz...etc) my phone is using...
yes you need to get sgs info.. (shortcut to dialer codes) goto
1. service menu
2. debug screen
3, basic information
it shows freqs. and updates in real time.. you can leave it on the screen
while driving around.
it will says wcdma 850 band 5 when 850 3g is working.
there is a list of all the Secret Codes on the Wiki to get into the service menu
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series
Sweet! Thanks guys!
there is a faster code
just punch in *#0011#
and you will see the band it is using
for example if you see:
WCDMA 850 band 5 (means you are on a 850 band class 5 speed/signal quality)
WCDMA 1900 band 2 (means you are on a 1900 band class 2 speed/signal quality)
So this is what my note 2 on tmo displays when putting in the code. Am I missing something or is there a way to figure out the frequency from any of that.

True but not exactly, because after December 2010 (ITU changed specs a little), LTE and WiMAX can also be referred to as 4G technology even though it does not meet speed requirements of 4G, that is really confusing since in e.g. USA 4G can mean WiMAX...
With ITU (telecommunication standardising body) it's all about the peak transfer capability if technology can reach certain threshold it gets the 4G tag...
This is a bit illogical since e.g HSDPA+ is not that much technologically different from standard 3G family derivatives as it is from "newer" LTE, or WiMAX ... long live confusion.
hope this helps

the BBC reported today there is going to be LTE testing in selected areas
the gsm 4g in states is HSPA+ or whatever is called . And the G2x or O2X has i think QUAD bands wcdma , so i think that is why you see 4g . The H was replaced by 4G. In states 4g is just for marketing. A real 4g i can say is the LTE from Verizon , but WIMAX , and HSPA are no 4g in my opinion .

Tmobile LTE works on unlocked

I had been trying a bunch of things to get LTE to work on my tmobile prepaid plan with my unlocked one. It looks like it has finally started but I am not sure of the band.
Is there a way to check the band? Is the one capable of getting LTE on tmobile on a band other than 1700? Some screenshots below.

Yes, the unlocked edition should get LTE from TMO when it is available in your area. The signal you posted is refarmed 1900 bands, which is limited to 21 download.
LTE will have "4G" on the top line with a small "LTE" underneath.
EDIT: I just realized the speeds you are showing. That is almost certainly LTE. I guess the non TMO phones don't have the icon I described.

Thanks. How do you find out if it is the 1900 band? I was really surprised to see Network Type: LTE on the first screenshot. If I am on to something here, I would really reconsider rebooting the phone and backing it up as is.

On TMO, by the speed connection. As I noted earlier, TMO 1900 maxes out at 2100.
You are not "on to" anything here; the unlocked phone is completely capable of TMO LTE from the factory. It is the AWS bands that are being sought by many folks here at XDA.
I saw your Icon on the original post and misread that as reframed rather than LTE. Until I double checked your screen grab!
T-Mobile's LTE runs on AWS 1700/2100 or Band 4 which the developer one supports. What everyone wants is the AWS HSPA+ band to work on the developer/AT&T One.
The t-mobile version does show 4G with the small LTE underneath.

I have the same issue. Have you found a solution?
Not a ROM limitation. Have a look what frequencies your mobile operator uses for LTE. The K3 note can only use these.
Networks:
2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz

Afraid so. I`m with giffgaff which runs on the O2 network but I don`t use 4g as it`s patchy at best where I am. It`s a great phone for the money.

Can I use this phone on AT&T LTE network?

Curious to see if this phone support all US LTE carriers.
Will have one if it supports
It gets nationwide 4G on T-Mobile only. On AT&T it gets 3G and very limited 4G.

Does LTE Advanced work on the Z2 Pro? What speeds do you guys get?
Hey I just wanted to ADD to this. I had to switch from T-mobile to AT&T.. well had to because ULTRA was awful and my speeds never got past 2mb. So I got on AT&T on ZUK Z2 and on H+ I get 11mb solid. Now using the same sim in a USA phone not Chinese full 4gLTE it got 9-11. So yeah... works AWESOME..and coming for 2mb and 1mb.. haha I am very happy. Just wanted to say it works flawless.
