what option you have selected in settings? Always or Never? Its was change in ICS and it works different than 2.3 GB...

The setting is actually asking you when you want to leave wifi on when screen turns off.
Always. will leave wifi on and
Never. will turn it off when screen turns off.

Mine works fine.
In settings select "Never (increases data usage)", something like that, mine is Portuguese...

Tried both settings.
Wifi is killed in both cases when screen turns off.
Obviosly a bug since more are experiencing it.
How to inform LG?

always keeps the wifi on
never turns it off which inturns increases data usage..

Go to "Hidden Menu" / "Connectivity Test" and check if "PowerSave Mode" is marked.

Its an ICS bug, does it on all my android phones, evo 3d, sgs2, lg 4x etc...

it seems to work fine on my phone, i have the UK (sim unlocked) firmware 10D, i've chosen the option always when it asked Keep Wi-fi on during sleep. It's exactly the same on my HTC Sensation running Android Revolution

Mine works too, just go to Wi-Fi's Advance menu and change the Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep setting, then it will never turn off

I'm not sure that WIFI is off or not.
But while updating apps in Google Play and then screen off, when phone waked, Google Play was just hang and stop updating.
May be just a bug of Play but I rather think it's a problem of stock rom.

With firmware V10d and earlier my phone had the same problem but it's gone since update to V10f.

Screen wakes up from sleep/standby by itself.

Hello guys, I'm interested in buying a galaxy note from somebody, but it has a problem. The screen wakes up from sleep by itself multiple times. From what I understand it turns on, then turns off, a few seconds later it turns on, then off.
I've seen this problem on other forums, and some answers include turning off/uninstalling some programs, but the guy who owns the phone said he restored to factory default. (The phone is rooted.)
Is this a fixable problem? Is it a big bother to stop me from trying to buy the phone? Is this a hardware or software? Did anyone have this problem and fix it? Thanks.
Ah poop wrong section (supposed to be in the Q&A right). Had the wrong tab open, sorry.
You could try cleaning the use port. Maybe the phone thinks something is being plugged in

I have had this problem, but it only ever happens when you turn the Note on while on charge. If you disconnect before turning on it never happens. No idea if that helps, but that is my experience.
i had this same problem and it was caused by go weather app because it wasn't able to access the internet for some reason..
i reinstalled the app and it solved the problem..
i have included a screenshot of night time usage when this problem existed.i did not use the phone during the entire 8 hours..the phone was acting by itself..

Thanks a bunch for the answers guys, some new answers I haven't seen. I bought the phone, so hopefully if it happens I can fix it.
Just in case somebody else is looking for the same answer (since it's a rare problem), some possible answers I've read on other forms (haven't tried any of these):
1. Clear cache/memory from the task manger.
2. Check apps. that connect online (including widgets), and disable/reinstall them (like what johnvarghese said). This might happen with there is no wifi. (Also check which apps might wake up your phone from sleep.)
3. Somebody (on a random forum) told me to turn on the GPS.
4. Some applications can be used for locking/unlocking/ or disabling other programs/ or turning of wifi when the phone turns off, not sure, more info. could be found if you google search.
Again thanks a bunch guys.

Congradulations on your new phone. Ive been a happy note owner for almost a month. On stock 4.0.3 just root. The problem ur refering to dosent seem to me as a problem, my note and nexus s have the same issue and a few friends owners of android devices get the same "behaviour" whether on ics or gb. When i look at my battery stats, during the night the phones battery usage is literally a flat line but with many wake ups in the screen. Above a user posted a screen shot over an 8 hour period with massive drain. thats not normal. you shouldnt worry yourself as long as your battery is holding up properly.

Thanks a lot I'm really enjoying this phone the more I know it's features. I'll probably stop using my Acer a500 tablet and my laptop. I don't know whether to install a custom rom or not I'm afraid of bricking my phone. Also Swype is awesome.
better battery stats, helped me alot.
i had same problem.

I had the same issue,
in my case, mp3 downloader's ad Notification was waking up my screen,
I found it out by using app "Wakelock detector" GooglePlay Link
you need to check for "full wakelocks", check the screenshot
Screend issue resolved (Culprit:- Facebook locked by Applock)
I have locked facebook app with 'Applock software, which was causing the problem.:crying:
Now I have removed Facebook from 'Applock software list.
Now it is working fine. :fingers-crossed:
P.S. other application are still locked by Applock software:good:

Note 3 on Android 4.3 won't enter deep sleep!

Odd bug I found on my note 3 is that the phone will sit at 300 Mhz with the screen off all day without entering deep sleep
It will only do this on WiFi though as soon as I turn it off Deep Sleep will function as it should.
I have the NB4 firmware and Bootloader, Android 4.3.
I am rooted and I have Xposed Firmware installed, anyone else have this issue?
Install wakelock detector.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector
It will tell you what's waking your device. But I'm going to guess you have location services on.
I have the exact same problem. It's a month now and I didn't change my wifi router or anything.
There are no apps directly causing this. I will inspect kernel wakelocks and report back. But I bet that some app is doind something that causes "android system" to wakelock the cpu. I have many apps so it will be very hard since none of them have any battery drain out of the normal usage.

Turn off "Always allow scanning" in wifi. (Menu/Advanced.) Scanning wakes the phone, and the normal scan interval is 5 minutes. (It'll still be scanning when you're in the page showing the available connections. You are in there to look for a connection, right? No one would ever be in there for any other reason. (No, Bill Gates didn't say that no one will ever need more than 640K of memory.) IOW, it's going to scan whether you need it to or not if you're on that page, but it stops as soon as you close the page. (Even though there's a Scan Now button. Come on, Google - next time, try thinking. Just a little.)
Hmm nope.. I think something else was corrupted somewhere.
I tried this:
Code:
adb shell pm clear com.android.providers.settings
adb reboot
After setting the main settings again, the phone is now much faster and as of now the problem didn't show up.
I'll keep you posted if it happens again. If not, this could help many many people.
Confirmed: the problem was totally solved.
I suggest anyone with the same problem to give this a try and do not restore the main settings from a backup.. but just set again the home and lockscreen or any of the main settings you need.
I think something gets messed up with intensive use or tests. This apparently cleans it.

A friend of mine had his Note3 very slow and draining battery very quickly after the last OTA update. With my "method" his note3 is now back to normal.
I had the same problem, the phone was at 300 Mhz with the screen off all day without entering deep sleep mode.
All I did was changing the wallpaper to the default one !!!!
Ploblem solved.
Very strange ....
I tried it 3-4 times (switching wallpapers from default to another one downloaded from the internet) to make sure that this was the problem.
At all times the problem came back and disappearing.
Note3 n9005, stock android 4.3, No Root.
Thanks Zibri !!!
ps
How can I try this without root ?
Code:
adb shell pm clear com.android.providers.settings
adb reboot

[Q] Turning screen off interrupts audio streaming

Hello all,
This phone has been great EXCEPT for this one thing -- when I am streaming audio from TuneIn or XiiaLive and turn the screen off, the connection CONSTANTLY drops out, and takes forever to buffer before playing again. If I turn the screen back on, the app starts buffering again immediately and quickly finishes.
This does not happen with Google Music, and it happens whether I'm streaming on Wi-Fi or LTE. I've tried turning off Low Power Audio via a build.prop change from the Viper Audio app, I've tried turning on CPU High Performance.. but nothing seems to make any difference. It's like data communications just stop for a bit for no reason when the screen's off.
I'm running the latest stock ROM.
I can't be the only one running into this. Anybody have any luck fixing this?
So by high cpu performance I assume you aren't in power save at all right? This comes to mind.

I was referring to the "High Performance" mode or whatever in the Developer Options.
I didn't recognize the screen you posted, and it turns out Power Save mode is disabled on Verizon phones. So I don't even have that.

Ok, I'm on AT&T so mine is different then. For the heck of it (I know you said it happens on both mobile and wifi) can you check your settings on Settings>Wi-Fi>Advanced Menu and then look for and try disabling Wi-Fi optimization if present, and enable Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep (Always).
Maybe it won't help at all, or maybe you already have them configured that way. Just throwing ideas out there for what it could be.
I appreciate your suggestion. I'll have to give it a shot later, although I'm not terribly optimistic.
I'm streaming XiiaLive as I'm typing this, and I hear the disconnect sound basically every 20 seconds. If I turn the screen on, it stops doing this.

Same.
It annoys me though when I activate high accuracy mode and it enables it back on. I normally just have device/GPS only, which suffices for Google maps etc. but some apps require it

I'd also recommend trying changing network mode to LTE/WCDMA, via the *#*#4636#*#* menu, if facing any cell standby drain. Doing so has quite literally doubled my battery life!

As I understand, it makes the device cycle between just 3g and 4g, whereas the default setting it cycles through other frequencies perhaps.
Whatever it does, by changing the setting I have no more cell standby drain and battery life;SOT has easily doubled.. Seriously!

It unfortunately does revert back to default upon a reboot, so likely will with the scheduled power on/off.
Let us know though!

Active Edge stopped working randomly

Hello everyone, I'm having issues with active edge. You can squeeze for assistant or silent stuff. But it stopped working for me whenever the phone is locked. And it'll start working again when it's charging. It stops working again when it's off the charger...
Steps to reproduce:
1. Ensure your phone is not charging
2. Try squeezing for assistant, if it works then let your phone go to sleep and lock (5 sec default)
3. Unlock your phone and try squeezing again
4. If it stops working, put your phone into charging state (wireless or wired), and it should start working again until next sleep
Let me know if you have the same issue too? I'm on the Feb update btw.
Can't replicate it here. Still on the January update but about to install February.

Update:
I found out that "allow when screen is off" is causing the issue. Turning it off and active edge is working now (when screen is on). Perhaps Google can fix this soon

Thanks for replying. Hopefully a factory reset would fix the issue.
I just factory reset and the issue still persists. Just so anyone else having the same issue know this.
Mike does something similar. I sometimes unlock the phone and the active edge does not work. Then I push the power button to lock the device, then unlock and it works fine. Can't really figure out as it's random...it doesn't happen every single time.

Exactly the same issue! It works fine after I turned off "allow when the screen is off". I never used it with screen off, since the screen turns on whenever you lift the phone, or when it detects movement.

Hey guys just a last update: I managed to get it working by reflashing the factory image (not OTA)
