I've sideloaded a couple apks (like Chrome and some others). Icon for such app looks very bad, it's low-res.
Is there any way to improve situation?

VTLauncher: tablet-centric launcher based on adw!!!

I just saw this on the xda homepage:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017451
Its a new tablet-centric launcher based off of the adw open-source code but removes the phone-like dock bar and ads launchers thatbare highly customizable and scrollable. It is also suppossed to add support for scrollable Widgets as well!
Here is the description:
This Launcher is designed with landscape tablets in mind! (that's not to say it doesn't also function well in portrait mode..... as it does)
First off this launcher is based HEAVILY on ADW.Launcher's Source code so I would like to thank anderweb for all the ground work.
What I have done is begun to remove the tired old Phone Like dock bar we are used to in just about every android launcher and replace it with a sleek Scrollable/Drag-able/Drop-able/Rearrangeable "ALONG the BOTTOM" (NOW WITH TOGGLEABLE SIDE DOCKS AS WELL!) Application and Shortcut Dock.
You can drag any Application, Shortcut, Browser Shortcut, Folder, etc. onto or off of and even drag them to different positions along the bar. Basically just about anything you can usually place on the desktop (except widgets, sorry that is not going to happen) you can place on the dock bar.
So feel free to fill your desktop with widgets and clocks and weather and that cool picture of your cat , because all your favorite apps are a fling away at the bottom.
So far scrolling widget support is fully functional. If an app complains/or warns that it doesn't detect a compatible launcher ignore it and continue they should work (as long as they are ADW Compliant).
This should work on virtually any device. Though non large screen devices may have issues with the layouts so you will have to play with the desktop column and row numbers etc.
UPDATE Info: -Fixed all Paddings to be dynamic with regard to which docks are visible. -Increased the Folder Columns by one for both Orientations. -Fixed Animations and Reflections for proper directions on all dockbars. -Added Toggle Setting to Show/Hide the dockbar when the app drawer is open. -Added Right-Hand Dockbar w/Toggle Setting. -Added Left-Hand Dockbar w/Toggle Setting. -Changed Dock Style to be be centered instead of left justified. -Fixed a fling issue when there were less icons than cells that would cause the icons to fing right and stick. -Changed the default setting of drawer type to the vertical scroll style as it is smoother. -Changed the default setting of drawer color to have a slight alpha to it so you can see your wallpaper a bit.

Here is a screenshot of my setup. The launcher is a little buggy but the concept is cool and if they can clean up the code, it could be a serious contender for the tablet launcher crown.

PS. sorry about the crappy pic and link for pic. Screenshot er isn't working and tapatalk wont let me embed a pic from my xoom.
Cool - I'll give it a shot and post results!
I like the stock launcher better. The widgets are too small. Unless there is something similar with how the stock launcher transitions from screen to screen I will be set with the current setup.
It still feels very beta, the transitions seem "meh" however, it being a beta and all its expected. Uninstalled for now, but I'll be looking for updates soon.
Thanks.
Looks promising. I ran VEGAN on my G Tab and it was a nice alternative to stock. I will be interested to see how it turns out in the near future.
silly question...is there a home switcher that works with honeycomb? if not how are you switching back and forth between stock and this launcher?
Awesome, I was wondering when some tablet based launchers would emerge.
And also can you share that wallpaper

Updated to v1.6.2 here
does this work good on the xoom
I'm not very impressed with it. It was kind of slow and the app drawer interface leaves alot to be desired.

a nice little app to give you big icons on your home screen of your gear

Ok if you have rooted and installed null on your gear running nova
And you just can not get on with small icons on you home screen
You can fix this with a nice little free app from play store called
Icon changer free
With this app you can make full size widget of any app including system
Apps eg dialler contacts etc
You can also customise the icon so you can just download any image in
Png format and apply it
I will try to upload some pics of mine
Mine is running
Nova launcher prime (paid version) so I can have a clean home screen
With swipe gestures and tap gestures for app draw and so on
Live wallpaper
And some full screen widget of app I need quick access to
Let me know how you get on and post some pics of you work to share
With others on this great site
Hope this help some people out

How to use different grid sizes at the same time (4x4 on home and 5x5 on next screen)

I'm on a Samsung Note 5 and I've been trying to make my widgets more readable by having them on a 4x4 grid sized screen, but I really like the room that I get for my app icons on the 5x5 screens. Is there any way that I can have both going on at the same time?
I'm rooted and on BreakDown's DPD1 v2.1 rom. I've got Xposed and have tried many different apps from the Play Store, Xposed, etc. I've also tried apps that change the DPI setting of my apps, and they do help with my widgets, but they ruin the app when I open them. For example, I can't reach the "Delete" button in Evernote because the DPI settings have made it sink under the screen. It makes the widget just the right size though. No 3rd party launcher seems to be able to do what I want either. I thought Zen UI could, but the grid size option is only for the app drawer and not the homescreen.
Ideally, I'd like for there to be a button or setting that let's me change the grid size on a per screen basis, instead of the universal setting that there is now. Can anyone help me out?

Lock screen

Is it possible for google music to show an album art cover as a background on the lock screen as it did on my previous phone (the old nexus 5x)?
Also, is there a way to change lock screen wallpaper? On my previous phone I had the app called APOD and it changed my wallpaper for both home and lock screens daily. On my Mi T9 Pro it can only change a wallpaper on the home screen. I also can't change lock screen wallpaper manually... I can only choose a wallpaper from theme app. Is it possible to fix?
Thanks!
umm, you can change wallpaper under settings>wallpaper choose the first option, select the pic, and apply to lockscreen only
or use a custom launcher? (nova FTW)
also, you can use retro music player, I think that allows an overlay, but music isn't much of a priority for me, so IDK
Miui is kinda broken when it comes to wallpapers. You can only set the lock screen wallpaper in settings and not in for e.g. google photos or a 3rd party wallpapers app. However you can change the home screen wallpaper from anywhere. Kinda stupid

Get third party icons from icon packs on OneUI Home!

Fair warning: I'm extremely anal about icons, so yeah.
I can't stand ugly icons on my home screen and in general. One my biggest gripes about any non-OxygenOS UI's is the fact that you can't customise your icons. Third party launchers don't play well with Android's native gestures (though using Good Lock's Task Changer fixes it) and doesn't allow for two different displays on our phones. And since FNG doesn't work well at all with the Z Fold 2 - I was forced to use OneUI with native gestures.
Hex_ theming allows for different icons, but you're stuck with the specific theme's icons which doesn't allow for diversity at all. Not to mention, certain icons (such as Chase Bank's, and Dunkin Donuts') are blurry and look dreadful. Hex is perfect to change the quick setting colour and status bar icons, so I highly recommend everyone look into it if you're looking to theme your quick settings/status bar. However, for those that are extremely picky about icons - it may not be the best.
However, I came across this app that looked interesting, it's called Shortcut Maker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rk.android.app.shortcutmaker&hl=en_US&gl=US
It's a free app so feel free to play with it. But what it allows for is creating a 1x1 widget that when you click on, you can launch an app, do a specific command, etc., and it looks like the creator is adding more functionality. You can add these 1x1 widgets into folders and the dock too. You can also choose the size of the icon, the shape, and you can even select your desired icon from icon packs from the Play Store! Watch it action in the video below.
One thing that I absolutely love about OneUI is the beautiful animations when you swipe up to go home. The animation, fluidity, and the way the icon actually wiggles a little bit looks amazing. When I first created a widget with Shortcut Maker, I saw that the swipe home didn't do the animation, much to my dismay. I thought that it's fine, and a smaller price to pay to not look at ugly icons. But then I decided to add the default icon in one of my folders and try to swipe - 'lo and behold, the animation is there. When you do swipe home, it does go into the folder with the app, but it still looks great. I highly recommend it for those that enjoy custom icons and don't mind spending quite a bit of time perhaps redoing their apps.

would be good to be able to create an icon for launcher folder (not the file folder!) where you can put apps icons. That would be an ultimate customizer.

Not a bad idea at all! I think you can leave it as a comment on the Play Store and the developer may look into it. The app isn't crazy popular and being flooded with comments so the developer can actually read them and respond.
