HTC Desire C does in fact have a top notification light?
I recently noticed that while on the phone in the dark, there was a tiny red light, thus the desire C has dome source of LED, Is it possible to program the phone to use the LED for notifications etc?

Where is this led mate?
If its a very faint/dim red glowing kind of light on the top of the screen (like a kinda infrared light), I think that is the light sensor, as other models have this even though they have an led too.
I must admit I have never seen it on this phone, I have just checked in a completely dark room with and without charger.
I have an unbranded, unlocked NFC model

Yeah I realized it's part of they light/proximity sensor, but is it possible to use it? Like if you could get control of it?

I wonder what this 'led settings' app is, its a system app.
I initially thought it may control the onscreen battery charging indicator, but after disabling it had no effect.
Anyone have any ideas?

Under permissions for this app there is a hardware control permission, but it says Control Vibrator, noting about any LED's, disabling it also has no effect on the Proximity sensor led.

Upper led colors

Hi guys,
is it possible to use the upper led as notification like in the other android phones? And if so is it possible to change the colors and the blinking time?
I did some searchs about this issue but i found nothing.
I too am wondering this, i just recently noticed that on a very low battery the upper led starts flashing
yeah same here, looks lilke only design for battery status.
im not confident in an api way to change it, and it might not even flash or blink, and still not very visible.
sry but i never eard of a tweak for that, but could be interresting too.

When I had a G1, it had LED notifications on the top of the phone which were very useful. The N1 only has the trackball light but it's really sl-ooo-www... I also wish the LEDs lit up as well.

Hero notification LEDs

Ok, I've had this over a month and I have never seen the second led blink or turn on.
The first one, near the "htc" letters above the screen, is on when charging and when I receive messages. The second one, above the "Sprint" letters on the top right corner, is never on.
Is it in fact a second notification led or us it there just to preserve the phone's symmetry?
Sorry if the question is ..retarded. thanks for the help.

I don't believe there's an LED under there, it's just to make the phone symmetrical.
the one on the right side is the light sensor, for the auto-brightness feature

I was going to include that as the sensor not only detects light but also proximity to change the brightness when it is either dark or light, but also how close the phone is to your face.

LED but not for trackball

as we all know the trackball can light up differnet colors with trackball alert but is it possible to use the charging LED for notification instead using the trackball LED ???
You can but...
I've seen a package that can be used to tell how much your CPU usage is by the light, but it's not that good. The LED has only 3 Colors, Blue, Amber(Orange), and Green. Red does not stay stable, it continuously flashes (hardware issue/setup). Possible? Yes. Is it out there? May be...

but it's for CPU Status not otehr type of alerts
There's an app available in the app section called Blinker, lets you use different settings for the charging led.

I tried it and it still uses the trackball leds for notifications

Blinker doesn't, it uses the charging LED. You have limited options, because there's on 3 or 4 colors, but it does use the charger, not the trackball.

Can the alert LED be disabled?

Hey all you lucky ONE owners
I'm planning on upgrading to the one myself soon. Just want to know if the little LED can be disabled for specific or preferably all events.

On the sgs3 I have, the LED is way too bright for night reading (esp when charging). But it can at least be disabled.
That said, LED control via AOSP was impossible due to Samsung's unreleased sources/drivers. Would this be the case with the One?

Hi! If you disable the led then there would be 0% visibility on the screen. The screen isn't amoled.

Thanks Riyal, though I was meaning the alert LED rather than the LCD backlight. That little LED on the upper left, under the That little LED on the upper left, under the speaker gri grill

Ohhh ok you mentioned about reading & amoled so I thought it was led backlight
Anyway yes it's possible. There's a setting for notification leds where you could disable them.
