[Q] CyanogenMod 9 Camera Help? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I'm using the stable CyanogenMod 9 build and I'm having a problem with the camera...
When you take pictures, it's too pixelated and blurry!
But when you self-shot or panorama, it looks fine :victory: . Any remedies or help? :good:
(P.S. I've tried searching for a solution so many times but there just aren't any.. )[/SIZE]

You're lucky the camera is even working. I don't think anybody ever made a stable camera app for CM9 for the Galay Tab. So far every single ROM I've tried, apart from the Verizon GB stock ROM, has camera issues. People are saying the camera works fine in Jellybean, but I haven't tried it yet. Either the makers of these ROMs don't know enough about how the camera works, or they do and it's a huge headache to fix.

There is one rom that I have found that worked well. It is aopk #38

[Q] How many people who are going to try custom cm9 roms?

So title says it. How many of you will make some custom roms based off of cm9 once its in beta?
:Raises Hand:
I'm using the alpha now. Everything is working fine except the camera which doesn't work at all yet. Hashcode seems to be close to a camera solution.
I love this ROM. There are a couple bugs with the keyboard not working unless you hit the search button if you hit the capacitive search button with the keyboard out and the backlight and a couple fcs from the phone here and there but outside of the camera it runs beautifully. As soon as the /dev/ion is finished I will be happy.

As soon as he gets it more stable will we really need custom ROMs outside of MIUI and the Gingerbread ones?

As soon as camera is working, I'll use the CM9. Right now on Liberty, and thought it seems nice, I'm not really into it. Maybe because it's based on stock
Definitely going to CM9 once the camera is figured out
I'm OK with the stock ROM for the moment. I loved CM7 on my old Droid 1 and so I probably will go with CM9 at some point. But I need my phone for work so I'm a bit conservative in what I choose to do. I'll wait for the stable release (i.e. non-alpha, non-beta) version.
If you use Safestrap you can easily switch back and forth between CM9 and stock. This way you can be on the more stable stock rom when you need it for work but can also use CM9 when you don't need it for work. It only takes a couple of minutes to switch and that is because it needs to back up /data from whichever one you are on and restore /data for the one you are switching to.
For those who needs a BIDI+Multi-language + RTL , ICS it's seems the only option
Camera Is GOOD!!! ON CM9 FINALLY!
Sent from my Verizon Droid III CM9 ICS!!!
Now that we have camera, I'm switching CM9 to my safe system and I'll be using Safestrap to try out all the other fancy ROMs that will surely come from it.
YEP
Have been playing around with CM9 since like Alpha 4 and am soo stoked that we have a working cam.. lots of work have been put in by the devs.. cant wait for beta
the camera works for point an shoot only on rear cam no video or front cam yet

Nova HD ROM, Quick Question?

Hey guys, just a quick question
im on NOVA HD ROm one of the old ones, and i was thinking about upgrading to the newer ones, is it like the CM7 nightlies where you can just flash it and it updates orr?
Thanks guys sorry for sounding like a noob
Jack
Just update will do...

IMO it will be better to wipe first, than install again
Just a quick warning, I went from the RC 19 to the latest one (26?), and it's buggy as hell, the old one was stable and so smooth you barely knew there was no h/w support, this one crashes, a lot.
If you can find an old RC i'd use that for now, It's a very good ROM otherwise!
the latest is 58.. i had it stuck on splash screen. install older one. then re installed. works mint. nice and smooth and fast. install gapps. =D
notification
Hey i have a problem with nova hd 27_ 62 i think.
Every 2 minutes i get notifications and it saids : the proces googlr.proceas.gapps.com or something like that has been stopt. I dont knoe how i get rid of it because in the older versions i didn't had the problem! But when i used 25- 52 or something the problem came!
Thx for every answer!
Download the gapps 20120429 from owains thread and just flash'em with cwm. Should work without any failures after that.
No more bugs found til now. Runs smooth and fast.

This is going to sound very nooby, but I take it there's absolutely no way round the video cam not working without the drivers? with the normal cam working fine i was surprised that the vid doesn't work even slightly.
It's a shame you can't con it with the gb ones or something.

Use videocam illusion, it's a good alternative

which one??

for those who are putting their time on 4.1&4.2, I offer nothing but my appreciation.
However, it's hard to find which version is "really usable ". Is there easy ways to find it out?

I'm in the same dilemma! I'm currently running CM 7.2 and would love to move to JB.
I'll jot down all my observations here:
There is a 4.1.2 release by vijendrahs which is currently doing the rounds and the Evervolv 4.2 nightly's.
I've been following these threads in the Dev section and on both sides, I see users reporting good and bad issues. I guess the only way to find out if it works in your case is to try and see.
The camera is working in 4.1.2 (vijendrahs) version (with no flickering) but I am not sure if its fixed in 4.2
Video recording doesn't work in both versions
GPS, 3G, WiFi do work though in both versions. Regarding tethering, I don't think USB tethering works, but hey, not everyone uses it right?
One of my friends who flashed 4.1.2 last week reported that he was getting random reboots almost a dozen times everyday. But the response was good, and apps were loaded slowly (he was using m2sd) .
I'm on Evervolv's final 4.1.2 version and it's pretty well completely reliable now. The camcorder works and hasn't failed me once yet, (video playback is choppy - but it's fine once I transfer the file to my computer). Everything else is fast and stable, no random reboots.
I tried the CM10 from vijendrahs but several things were broken that I found within the first 5 minutes of use. Lockscreen didn't work, usb mass storage didn't work, among others so I gave up and restored my backup really fast.
I've downloaded Evervolv's 4.2 but haven't brought myself to try it yet cause everything is so perfect now on 4.1.2. I just wish I could have a good working CM10 cause I like the extra features especially the notification pulldown toggles.
I finally flashed vijendrah's 4.1.2 last night and it's been a very smooth experience so far. Except for video recording, almost everything's been working fine. I too downloaded Evervolv's 4.2 but I'll probably try it next week after using 4.1.2 for awhile.
The only grouch I have is with m2sd, but I have flashed the correct APK and things are OK now.

I would like to push for cooldroid Sense, quite nice, stable, considering it's an alpha. I was running spazedog but nothing happened to fix some small bugs, so i went to hypersense and almost fell in love...it was perfect, fast, stable and everything worked 'out of the box'...only thing on the down side...i couldn't run chrome...
then came cooldroid, i know it's not JB, but ICS is good enough for me.
(m2sd is a bugger...but now it works for me at least...)

[Q] Incredible S JellyBean Roms Comparison

There have now been severel JellyBean ROMS released for the HTC Incredible S.
I was hoping that I could get some opinion on how well each one is working.
So far i have found the following ROMS:
Codename Android and JellyBean Evolution by Nic
There is a comparison of them here.
The thread pretty much outlines that they are smooth bountiful ROMS which they are. They work really well, however, I have noticed some extra things wrong with them other then the outlined ones:
-Loudspeaker does not work and breaks the mic for the call.
-Sometimes the text on the homescreen becomes blurred, you have to lock the screen for a while to get that to go away.
-The full screen videos crash the phone, the fix doesn't work on my phone.
The next ROM i have seen is the CyanVivo X mod. I haven't tried this one but it seems like it has all the same problems. Front camera doesn't work. Full screen vids etc.
There is one that has been released recently:
It is an unofficial CM release:
It seems to have solved all of the problems with the ROM, the front camera works, it seems like it is quick, the only thing it doesnt handle is video camera. Can anyone tell me about problems with this ROM.
I was hoping to make a good Thread which compares each of these ROMs and which ones are the best?
The first two are just ROMs to say you have JB on your phone, both are buggy but some people can live with this and use them daily. These were the first JB ROMs, the same Dev got them running then support stopped.
CV10 is the breakthrough JB ROM, Dev working on it and the ROM has potential. More stable than the first two ROMs as Dev focusing on the kernel, currently still got a couple of bugs which some people can live with to be able to use the ROM daily. Keep an eye on this thread for development progress and regular feedback.
CM10 has a ninja for a Dev, works in the background and appears absent from the forum. Then ROM appears. The ROM currently seems to be the most stable/complete JB ROM and has least bugs. Many people using this as a daily use ROM. But is the Dev still working on it to perfect it, how long until the next update... nobody knows!
I tried this ROM, battery life seemed short, I struggled to get a days normal use from one charge. Plus I wanted my video camera to be working so I can film my young kids when I needed to. Back on ICS/sense ROM now.
These are just my own crude opinions.

there is a paranoid android JB ROM by Nikhil: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863862
I had used the ones you have listed below as well as the paranoid android ROM.. i found the paranoid to be less buggy...give it a shot.. it is a very different visual experience.. the rom is based on CM9.. you will have some minor issues:
1. front camera won't work
2. Adjusting in call volume resets the ringtone volume
3. Google now may not work..
4. tablet mode won't have an option to enable USB connectivity...
...
Give it a try; apart from the above issues, it is a very stable ROM; i was on it for about 6 months with no issues..
1. It is a different experience altogether - not many tweaks is what I found but a visual delight
2. google now issue will be resolved after you flash the "4.1 to 4.2" package; it will also introduce photosphere: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991734

From reading the thread on the paranoid android it looks like it has more bugs then the Unofficial CM ROM. Things including permenant sleep and crashing with full screen video, which i experienced with the original ROMS from Nik.
The only problems I have with the Unofficial ROM is that the battery drains quite quickly (About 10Hrs on Battery with Juice Defender Pro), it can be a bit Laggy at times which i didn't experience with Niks ROMS and sometimes it doesn't quite wake up properly, (The button lights come on but you have to wait a bit for the screen)
Hi,
My experience with the ROM was different.. yes is an issue with the full screen video but the thread mentions the solution.. I did not have any issues with phone not-able-to-sleep... the battery was also good - it used to last atleast a day with good usage on calls...
With tools like 'Easy Battery Saver' it even touched 2 days with normal usage..
I was on the ROM for six months with no issues.. also i did not use the default launcher bundled with the ROM; I had installed APEX launcher rather..

Try turning off network based location in gps settings and rebooting the phone. it's a known bug with cm. :/
Are you only looking at CM/AOSP/AOKP roms?
I really don't think any are ready for daily use. Every one I used I thought was okay, then I needed to use the camera or some setting and it would crash. I'm going to wait for szezso to make a fully working kernel.
I think I'm going to test lacoste right now though... I'll tell you what I think.

I've been using dla5244's Unofficial CM10 for more than a week now. It's definitely a daily driver. With v2, even camcorder works wonderfully. I believe the v2 kernel is full featured and I can find no bugs at all so far.

I've been using Unofficial CM10 since it was released and scrolling is as smooth as it should be.
What CPU governor are you using? I once switched to Interactive with some bad tweaks which resulted in something like you're experiencing now. After switching to ondemand/smartassv2 everything is fine now.

[Q] Lg 4x hd v20b to v20a firmware

Hi guys, if someone could help me with this I would be so grateful!
Few months back, I've installed Jelly Bean on my LG 4X HD through LGPCsuite. It started lagging so much after that update, it's almost impossible to work with it. When I'm trying to call someone it takes about 10 secs to even start calling, not to mention how home screen lags after closing app etc. I've read here, on xda, that the best solution would be to downgrade to ICS. Anyway, I really didn't like ICS; camera is much better on JB then on ICS (it took blurry pics) plus some other things I really like more on JB. I have JB v20b and I was wondering: if I install v20a will lagging be less? I really want to use JB, not ICS. Plus, if someone can tell me how should I do that? Or tell me what would really be best solution. I'm kinda scared of installing custom rom, so I'm trying to avoid that. Plus, I'm from Croatia and could I install EUROPE OPEN ANEUBK VERSION firmware?
Thanks so much, I really hope someone will help me!
Plus, please don't mind if I'm asking some nonsense, I'm really new at this.
That's it. I think 4x is a very bad product. Great specs but very bad OS.
Ics lags to much, mainly on camera, I barely can take photos. Jb lags everywhere.
So no solusion. I've just sold my 4x and changed to L80.. really smooth despite the lower specs.

Okay, I've been surfing xda forums for the last few hours and I've figured that custom roms aren't so bad. So, can someone suggest me which one is the best for lg 4x hd? Camera is really important for me, so I'm hoping there are custom roms with properly working camera.
Custom roms based on stock/original won't help. The performance is the same.
If you want to be faster, use CM, you can try Xenon rom. But CM always have bugs : sometimes freezes, and dark photos

but custom roms aren't based on 4.1.2., isn't that right? They're based on 4.3. or 4.4 versions. I've been watching some videos on YT and phones with custom roms are super fast, so I'm confused now
Some are, some aren't. If you look around this forum you'll see that the android version is always in the original post of the ROM thread. Using a custom ROM won't automatically make your phone "super fast", though mine is smoother since I switched from stock. "What's the best xxx" threads aren't allowed on XDA because there is no right or wrong answer: it depends on what you're looking for. I've tried Cyanogenmod 11 and Paranoid Android and found PA to be faster and slightly more stable, but I prefer CM because it gives me better battery life and there are alternatives to the features of PA that made me change (peek and hover) on CM. Look around these forums and see what works for you
A word of advice though: make sure you do your homework before you install it. Read all you can before starting, or you could brick your phone!
I have experience with few P880s. Stock roms arent that bad.
In case you want to flash back stock roms. I give you this link for stock firmware of LG phone http://lg-phone-firmware.com/
With custom roms, I often start with CM, then try others.
Hope this help.
my first android phone, best bang for the buck
this is my first android, and I love it, despite the software issues with Stock LG firmware, whether ICS or JB. P.S. my baseband is v20c (UAE).
Quick note, which may cost you seconds of your time and perhaps solve all your issues before jumping to other, custom ROMs. Have you disabled MLT from the hidden menu? (many users reported that it solves the lags)
Open Dialer -> Dial: 3845#*880# -> MLT (all the way at the bottom of the list) -> disable
I tried it on JB (4.1.2) and it definitely helped with the lags.
But then few days later, I decided I wanna play with Kitkat 4.4.4, and I went for the most customization-rich ROM: Beanstalk, and also added the stock LG camera app from JB. Why? because it is faster and the focus is a little better I think. The only thing that doesn't work in it is that if you switch to front-facing camera, it is just a full green screen. However, the camera app that comes in beanstalk doesn't have this problem with front-facing camera. And, you get to have both camera apps installed, so you can switch and compare quality.
The only trick to get the last build of Beanstalk (4.4.4007 , 14/07/14) booting was to also flash iodak v10 kernel immediately after the BS ROM. Then of course gapps (google apps).
Only issue or bug I noticed is you get an error message about DSP manager crashing when playing music, but the music plays afterwards. This is a known issue and should be fixed in later releases.
Alternatively, if you prefer simplicity over customizations, and rock solid stability over latest/bleeding-edge releases, you could go with the stable version of CyanogenMod 10.1.3
Hope I helped.
