[Q] Does sixaxis controller work for rooted KFHD? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm considering to buy a kindle fire hd, after I returned a Nexus 7 due to its lack of HDMI and quality issue.
Hardware wise, KFHD has everything I need. But the only thing concerns me is if it supports the sixaxis controller app from google play? Could someone confirm this? This app needs root.
The reason I'm asking is that I'm a light gamer and like to use a ps3 controller to play some games on KFHD connected to an external monitor for better viewing.
Right now, I'm playing modern combat 3 on my samsung s2 connected to an external monitor via MHL cable, but it has some resolution and lag problems. I want to upgrade to a tablet with full HDMI.
Please let me know if you have some insight?
Thanks

Anybody? Please

Ok so the app works and recognizes the controller, BUT, I havnt figured out how to allow input by the controller since kfhd's keyboard settings does not have any options for input. Will have to do some research on a work around or wait till someone figures it out a way.

Ok I can confirm it works. After downloading nook tools (thanks to timurg for posting the link on a different thread) to gain access to the hidden language and keyboard settings and enabling input from the controller.

Any experience with Dell Streak or Streak7? I don't know that it handles HDMI output the same as TouchWiz does.

Awesome! I just need an HDMI cable, since I got the dock already. Can't wait!
My apologies for the ignorance but please elaborate.
So I can put my S7 in the dock, HDMI out to the tv and use a Wii remote to control the game on my S7?
What apps and settings do I need to make this happen?

I don't know, though, if this supports the analog controllers with the Classic Controller on PSX4Droid (that's what I'm hoping for), but it'll work fine for the Wiimote, nuncheck, and Classic using the digital controls for sure. The app itself does support analog input, but the emulator dev has to enable it. I haven't had time to test it out, yet (darned HC ROM taking up all my free time ).
When it scans for my Wii controller it doesn't see it. Am I forgetting something?

Yes, I use Snesoid and the wiimote app and I can play snes roms on my tv using the hdmi out on the dock and a regular wii remote. Been playing different roms for the last couple weeks, don't know if psx works or not though.

I replied to you on another thread; probably the same thing here. Streakdroid has known kernel issues that affect bluetooth. Switch to rooted or stock 2.2.2.
Yep the dock works well. Thing I cant figure out tho. Audio doesnt output through the hdmi?? Seems I have to use Line Out for sound or the device itself.
Also learned using the wiimote, I can control the tablet menus and so as well. No need to use the touch screen. =D
Was playing F-zero X last night hehe.
Wish the HDMI out worked on Honeystreak...

Wireless Mirroring

Hello y'all,
I'm a school teacher and the school just bought me a Nexus7 and I LOVE IT! I'm here because I use Power Point everyday and I was wondering if there is an accessory or a way to connect my Tablet to my HDMI projector wirelessly, so I can slid through my solids on my tablet. Any help would be great.
Thanks Guys!
Mirroring just isn't possible on the N7 currently :crying:
can you use the bluetooth to do a remote desktop with a laptop that is hooked up to the projector?
just a suggestion
I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but if you can get a computer connected to the projector and the n7 on the same network there are several good PC remote apps. I used andremote for a long time and was happy with it.

You can use Splashtop Remote Desktop from the Play store
Look at mirrorop in market.
U can mirror nexus on a PC, or on another tablet/one.
I mirrored my Xoom to nexus7 and had xoom connected to TV so I had the Xoom screen on my TV and my nexus 7 and full control of xoom from my 7.

if you have a pc connected to the display http://pptremotecontrol.com/ is great for Power Point presentations on the android device you can see the slide and notes, control the presentation and a virtual pointer on the screen.

Just a protocol, you need software and hardware that uses it.
Lot of good suggestions so far but they all require another expensive computer or tablet. The easy solution that being a simple hardware device that listens on WiFi and connects to an HDMI video device without another computer that the Nexus 7 can talk to.
For a teacher, business, home user, you plug this device into any HDMI video device and play, images, video, whatever you have on the screen.
It's coming, but not here yet.

You might want to consider a device like this the infinitec pocket tv http://shop.infinitec.com/ is is not a method to let you use your nexus but it is a android device with a hdmi output and a remote control. easy to carry and a lot less expensive than a pc.

Miracast is JUST a protocol. It is not an app, or a program. It is a standard that a number of hardware vendors are collaborating on. You need software and hardware that supports the protocol to use it.
Decent article on it:

Tegra 3 already supports miracast, just needs to be enabled in the FIRMWARE. Most tvs in 2013 will support it without hardware dongle but a dongle will be a available for your HDMI slot. No different than using mhl cable with HDMI cable except, oh wait, this solution is wireless...

You're likely not to receive future updates. They are pushing users to the "free" Splashtop 2 app. Ipad users get lifetime anywhere pack. Android users don't. Splashtop has lost credibility and wouldn't touch their crap even with your devices.

Google play is telling me that its compatible.
If you're rooted install this app (free) to see if sixaxis will work or not.
I can't get it to work :/
It doesn't work. I was pretty disappointed considering i could even use a sixaxis controller on my iPhone
I remember reading that it has something to do with the bluetooth drivers HTC uses
Hi,
I'm new here and would start with this:
It's sad to here, that the HTC One doesn't support Sixaxis, I really hoped for that...
Is there any way to get the controller working e.g. with some kind of bluetooth dongle that emulates a keyboard to use it over an OTG cable?

It will work with a OTG cable but if the games doesn't have gamepad support, you would need the Sixaxis app.to map the keys.

What will happen if i connect two Sixaxis Controller over USB?
Will the HTC One regognize both controllers separatly?

No they will be seen as the same pad.
This is ridiculous on HTC's part and i'm seeing it as a complete deal breaker, i love this phone but this is a load of crap.
No controllers are working over USB OTG for me, anyone managed to get them to work?
Moga Pro working well however.
Try a custom kernel.

The moga works wirelessly I'm guessing? I was tempted to get it but never did because sixaxis always worked for me. Since apparently it doesn't on this phone, I may get the moga if it works wirelessly .

i have the pocket moga and it works fine. Make sure to get the universal driver to use it in unsupported games:

the pro controller should basically mimic what a ps3 controller does

First unlock your HTC ONE, then recovery, then backup your original rom just in case. Install Viper ROM 1.1.0 along with Elemntal X kernel search forums here in xda. Download them and put both in a folder of choice on your internal sd card. Wipe factory reset, flash Viper ROM then flash Elemntal X kernel. Reboot, rebooot again (yes, twice). Connect OTG cable, no power add-on needed, direct cable only ($6 ebay) along with PS3 controller usb wired of course. Open game. Play. No sixaxis needed, kernel recognizes the contoller right away. Games it works with that I have and know for sure work. MC4, Max Payne, Shadow Gun, GTA 3 anniv. addition, Dead Trigger, havent tryed Nova yet but im sure it works, Sonic. Most of these games you cant configure buttons for so the kernel does the mapping for you that you cant change. NOTE: After market PS3 controllers dont work, work but some options dont work in game like shoot, BIG ONE lol. XBOX 360 works, but for the games that have button mapping ONLY. You loose options in game with ones that dont have mapping, like again, shooting. HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE!!!!!

Yea but then you have the issue of using a wired controller, I already knew that you could do that.
The whole fascination is that it's "Wireless", hence why were talking about bluetooth working with Sense, it's an age old issue which has plagued HTC's phones and the only way around it usually is to run an AOSP or Cyanagen based ROM.
Using the Moga allows you to keep sense and have a pad that works over BT.
Appreciate the input but it defeats the object.

Does anyone have PS4 Remote Play working on the N6?

Hey guys, been torn between the N6 and Z3v for awhile now. The draw to the Z3 for me is waterproofing and PS4 Remote Play. If I am sure I could get Remote Play on the N6 I think that is the way I would go.
I have seen the thread about porting the app to "any" device, but within that thread are countless posts about people not being able to get it working properly, many times not being able to get it to work over cell network which Z3 owners confirm their phone will do just fine (with a strong enough connection of course). So I am hoping someone here can confirm or point me in the direction where it is confirmed the N6 can run Remote Play, working over cell network.
Thanks
bump
I also would like to know if anyone has acomplished this.

Remote play for me is working. I still cannot get the controller to work though. I can use it fine using usb but cannot see the ps4 controller when in pairing for bluetooth. It worked fine on my n5 with kitkat but doesn't on my n6 with lollipop. I think it's a problem with lollipop.
Try seeing if you can pair it using the sixaxis app. You need root to use it. Running stock rooted it works fine for N6 for pairing PS3 controllers and it does support PS4 controllers (don't currently have a PS4)

If this does work, would give me another reason to get a PS4.

Fire tablet VS Controllers

Hello!!! I can't get my fire HD 8" 2017 to work with my PS4 controller nor a Xbox one controller either. Tried Bluetooth and OTG... With Bluetooth it says it syncs, but the controller doesn't do anything. With the OTG cable, it doesn't even connect. Anybody has an idea of what is going on? Is there something I'm missing? Any workarounds? Is this issue only on the Fire 8?

There's videos on YouTube of ppl syncing them with the Fire tablet as well.
In any case, do you know any alternative for the awful on screen controls. Im trying to use retroarch, so my kid can play old Mario games. He's in love with them.

While based loosely on Android FireOS is heavily modified to suit Amazon's intentions for this device which most certainly does not included gaming on competitor's hardware. Amazon chose not to support certain Android capabilities which likely includes generic gaming controller support. Best guidance if using Amazon gizmos is to follow YouTube vids if someone else has figured out his to do it. Otherwise consider a different device that runs generic Android.
