Did you have you unlock the bootloader before rooting? I'm presuming you have to according to doomlords instruction.. I'm going to anyway..

but what about your BRAVIA2/DRM keys???
I thought once you unlock BL it formats the TA partition...?

Ah I give up I'll wait until some easy options.... what I got was you cant backup your TA without root----> You cant root without your BL unlocked ( firmware .253 for now), you will lose BA2 and Drm if you unlock your bootloader.... So the question still rolls how to root your Z tablet with Firmware .253 without unlocking BL ?

maybe because the tablet is still very new, theres not many out there that people have their hands on..
might be best to wait until its been released world wide and a lot more of this is on demand?

perhaps.. does anyone has say .344 or earlier... firmware? I can make my firmware's back up first and then downgrade and then root it, do TA backup for future's sake, and then unlock the bootloader

From what I read, TA needs to be backed up before any BL unlock. once its unlocked the TA partition is gone for good along with the keys...no way of ever getting it back

Yup thats why I want to root first and then Doomlords paradox.. no root without BL unlock and No BL unlock without root thingy... somehow I'll try to manage.

You can change the customization number in your build.prop to 1271-0119 and download this firmware with Sony PC Companion. See [GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization from Sony & create an FTF with Flashtool. Please also share it on XDA, because we still don't have that one.

The root is only temporary and is removed again after flashing the new firmware.

Rooting does not void warranty, who told you that.. There is a difference between rooting and bootloader unlocking. To change your customization number, you need to root without bootloader unlock. By the way, after flashing the new firmware, every trace of the root will be erased, so nobody will ever know that you rooted your phone temporary.

In part A of my guide, you can find the links to the appropriate tools that allow you to root without unlocking your bootloader. You just have to connect your phone with USB debugging enabled and run the tool. The rest goes automatically. So no need to request an unlock key from Sony or anything

Many websites say 'rooting' when they actually mean 'bootloader unlocking'. On that website, they're talking about bricking your phone and custom ROMs. That means they mean 'bootloader unlocking', because custom ROMs are not possible with a locked bootloader. I tried downloading it and apparently it does not exist. For generic US firmware they still are on 10.1.A.1.434

True, there is no 4.2.2 firmware actually for US, they're still on 4.1.2.

Actually they are on 4.2.2 now. Check my signature for a FTF download of the US (1271-0119) 4.2.2 firmware or click here.

Xperia LT30at: Root, Unlock and Remove AT&T Apps?

In general, I would like ask about unlocking my Xperia LT30AT. I've unlocked a phone before but it has been a long time.
I seem to recall that when I unlocked my first phone, I downloaded a developer kit that you use to root and unlock the device. I am interested in doing that to my LT30at, but I don't want to use any custom roms like Cyanogenmod.
What I would like most of all to do: to
(1) root and unlock the phone,
(2) keep the (functionally) authentic Android OS, and
(3) Get all the AT&T apps off the phone for good.
...but I would settle for just the first one, for starters.
Any suggestions? Thanks! MX

* P.S. many links to files in the root of the sony t is no longer usable

To root this device you should use the flashtool, you can't unlock bootloader at all. Me I rooted it added a recovery. Then flashed a unbranded firmware via the. Recovery. Kept root that caused everything to work pretty Ok now my att TL is rooted with 4.3 with a few bugs

Since you want the phone to be rooted, you have only 2 options:
1) If you want to stay on 4.1.2: flash any generic 4.1.2 FTF using Flashtool and exclude the baseband in the process, then root the device.
2) If you want to upgrade to 4.3: follow the guide in my signature.
Bootloader cannot be unlocked.

If you update to 4.3 using Flashtool you will lose root access to the device because there is no exploit available yet. Carrier lock is SIM lock and is managed separately from ROMs.

Are you sure it's "bootliader unlock allowed: yes"? LT30at have always come with locked bootloader.
Carrier lock us SIM Lock. As I've said before it's nit affected by any kind of flashing. It's stored in a different location.

Yes , Bootloader unlock allowed in my device is YES . Firmware is 9.1.F.1.120 , android 4.1.2
So can i update my device to 4.3 ?

You're probably the first person I've seen with a TL with at&t firmware (I'm assuming since it's 120 firmware) that has an unlockable bootloader.

Is there a way to update rooted ZR with official Sony image?

I have a rooted Sony ZR 5502, it keeps telling me there's 10.5.1.A.0.283 update available.
I don't want a custom ROM. How do I proceed with updating with official SONY image? Is there a way? I can download it from Sony but not sure where it gets downloaded to.
I tried to read some threads here but there's so much info I get lost. PLease help.

Have you locked or unlocked bootloader?

You can use flashtool, regardless of locked or unlocked bootloader. If it is locked, then the update center, as far as I know, works. I used update center for my locked but rooted zr and even retained root.

[Q] Z1 c903 Bootloader locking. Help!

Hello all! Im new in xda forum, so i will be greatefull if you help me with my Sony Z1 phone. I have Z1 c903 on android 5.0.2., and I was mad on sony becouse they didnt make update to 5.1, so i was looking on forum how to root and install some custom rom and make my phone updated. So i find on some thread that i should unlock bootloader, and i followed instructions and unlocked it, but without making some backup or anything else. So i have seen that there is official update for sony and i want to get back to lock bootloader. But when i enter flashtool and enter "blu" i click on relock bootloader, and start phone type *#*#service#*#* it say that my bootloader is still unlocked. How should i get back to locked bootloader or make official update to 5.1. Please make it more clear becouse i am pretty noob for android development and rest. Also i want to add that i have not rooted my phone or install some custom rom or other, i just have unlock bootloader and thats all. Could i get back my "DRM keys" and could i get back my ofiicial android. Thanks in advance.

oh dear, you lost your drm keys.... thats not good....all sony own camera features (bionz, noise reduction...) are lost now. So without your drm keys, you dont get an advantage of locking bl again. SImply flash official sony 5.1.1 and here you are

Download the ftf (general section) and flash via flashtool, but untick the 3 wipe boxes if You want t to keep your data
