The phone over all is very good, I had a very good experience when I had mine. It all depends on what you are wanting to do with you phone, somepeople will root their phone and others will not, as for that development has slowed down but there are many custom roms out there.

Basically last HTC phone on at&t with soff, now everything is locked tight.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

No don't buy it. It's almost a year old, about to hit eol status any time, stock is buggy, a bit laggy after you use it a while, and battery life is pure garbage, 8 hours is the maximum I've ever gotten out of it. If you do unlock and root, wcx's rom fixes most of those issues but you just forfeited your warranty because if you relock the bootloader it says "re locked" in the bootloader screen. Wish I knew that, I think my charging port is getting loose and probably on par to quit working... I really don't know what I'll do

Yeah, don't get it. Plenty of better options at better price points.

I would not recommend it, get a Samsung Galaxy S III if your are into development. if u like HTC for its sense get the One X, but that phone is getting old also. Development of HTC phones is going to the ****ter. I am quite happy with HTC phones if its rooted to run TiBU and the bloatware from ATT is gone.

Well...everyone's being negative about it...before I get started I own both the HTC vivid and the Samsung infuse
Despite what everyone else says the vivid is a great phone, and has the best stock experience with the least amount of bugs I've ever used, the battery life is not to bad and I'm satisfied with the life it gives me..on average I get at least 12hours of battery life...that's with 3-31/2 hours of screen on time -brightness at auto, at least 30 minutes of music, data always on in my semi lte area (majority of my area has it but there are a few places like my school where I get no lte), WiFi always on, auto sync always on (have my Google and Facebook account set up to sync), and GPS always on...as you can see I do nothing to try and save my battery life and it makes it through 12 hours with a good ~30% to spare when I plug it in the charger
its very fast and snappy...
Its only downfall is lack of development...but if I can get cyanogenmod 10 going...that will change very quickly as it opens the door to tons of aosp based roms and ports
So...if your a flashaholic and love flashing ROMs...at the moment this phone is not for you
But if your looking for a fast, snappy, smooth phone and staying loyal to one ROM or even stock sense...then this phone is perfect
Again...I've had no problems with stock sense 3.6...and personally think I like stock sense 3.6 almost as good as any of the available ROMs...I often find my self running a ruu to use stock again...and find I stay in stock for a longer time period then custom ROMs

My status today. I was having signal issues and it tried to sync during them and literally in 20 minutes I went from 65% to 40% power. 6 months later I am just over this phone. I on average get 8 to 10 hours... On standby. The problem is battery hogging lte, a dual core, a 4.5 inch battery hogging lcd screen and a ridiculously small 1650mah battery to power all that. You look at the back and htc probably could of fit a 3000mah battery on it if it didn't have the angles and filled the whole back. It probably takes 3 charging cycles just for me to get through one day.
And I have to disagree with a great stock experience because of battery life, and more bugs than Joes apartment. Wifi shutting on and off at random and mobile data lately for me has not been consistent. Not to mention on the bloatware at&t put on this phone. SwiftKey has been laggy from day one while it ran flawlessly on my much weaker captivate. I was in the market for a non lte s2, I should have went for that instead.
And then HTC gave us the shaft on sense. Instead of giving us the much nicer 4.0,they ported 3.5 to ics and called it 3.6 and 3.6 does everything in its power to make you feel like your still using gingerbread. Don't get me wrong I loved this phone at first but the honeymoon is over, I'm ready to sign some divorce papers. Sucks being broke, I'm ready for a nexus but I'm also hoping by the time I can afford one they'll have the new models out.

Maybe you just got a bad device...as I've stated...I get 12 hours at least with 30% to spare...my vivid has lte, 4.5 inch screen, dual core, and a 1650mah battery...so those definatly are not the problem...I only notice like a 5% difference if I leave data off all day...and I do have lte for a good 80% of my day
I just don't like when people assume everybody has the same problems they have...just because you have bad signal and battery doesn't mean everyone does...If I were to have an iPhone 5 I would instantly trade it for an android...even for the vivid
In short, my vivid has the same specs as you and I get decent battery life...and I do nothing to try and save battery...only reason I'm using my infuse instead of my vivid is because I keep flashing experimental cm10 builds on it and need a phone handy
I guess people just expect these powerful smart phones to have the same great battery life of the old Nokia brick phones lol our phones are basically mini laptops that never go to real sleep cause they are constantly looking for signal and running background tasks to keep our phones smart and not a giant dumb phone...how can you expect hours of battery life from that? Most laptops only get 3-4 hours of actual use...my vivid seems to be on that same pattern of 3-4 hours of actual use, aka 3-4 hours of screen on time
End of my rant...I usually try not to rant but when I'm sick I can't help it
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2

I know they use more power but I never complained about my captivates battery life. To be fair it was only 150mah smaller but didn't have lte, a dual core, and had a super amoled screen which naturally uses much less power than a lcd.
I gave HTC a fair shot and I'm not to impressed, I feel like I got burnt twice by them with the flyer and this phone. And the stupid "relocked" bootloader... Why is the bootloader locked to begin with? My captivate took all of 5 minutes to root with a super one click program, and didn't wipe anything. Locked bootloaders are bs. And s.... S! Wtf is s anyway? It another hurdle put on by htc. "so you unlocked your bootloader and you rooted but wait... You still need s off!" s stands for **** imo. An htc exclusive.
And speaking of s why does this phone require some stupid wire trick technique when the flyer had a nice program called revolutionary to achieve it? Hacking is half the fun of choosing android and htc went out on a limb to ruin it for everyone with this phone. Cm was always a safe bet... Till I bought htc. Makes me cringe checking the captivate forum and seeing cm10 nightlies when my new phone that's supposedly world's better is dead at stock ics.
I don't really want an iphone just saying I'd think I might enjoy one more than this phone right now. Typing this message just took 5% of my battery btw. This in general is a text book example of androids problem. In the middle of nexus devices, galaxy s devices, and one series devices, as well as optimuses and xperias, and razrs, came the vivid, a general "phone of the times" that was marketed poorly and forgotten just as quickly. This is the Droid Bionic of at&t. Everyone who bought one gets screwed.

And what's with the stupid sudden drop from 29% to 14%? Ever since I got this phone it does that. I'll check a text, have 29% power left, cool should be good for a little while then a couple minutes later I hear "wah womp" in my pocket, I pull it out "your battery only has 14% remaining please connect it to a charger. I actually have to like my phone because i bought off contract,
The Vivid is a good phone, and it does work great when u set it up to run efficiently, but the Vivid is suffering the middle child syndrome, and it is being neglected, but there are development done outside of this forum, i have no idea what it is like, all i run is Stock with root and debloated, battery is not bad either, gives me 12hrs

Well if you guys like it, more power to you. My wife has no complaints. If you aren't a heavy user like I am, and don't care about rooting its perfectly fine. Sorry if I got riled up, I was really hating my phone yesterday.
I'll be fair in saying the camera is awesome. One of the phones few bright spots
Sent from my HTC Vivid using Tapatalk 2

I really see no reason why you'd get this phone at this point, especially if you like any kind of rooting or flashing. I'd probably try to get a used Gnex or SII if I was in a low budget situation.

Yeah getting back on topic, I won't recommend this phone just because it's all but eol and development is all but the dead for it and if you need a cheap phone, gs2 or gnex all the way.

Had my Vivid for almost 11 months now. Stock with ICS "upgrade" (fixed some problems but created more). No real problems overall. I plan on keeping it through my 2-year agreement. I enjoy using it.
But would I buy one now? No. It won't get another OS upgrade. The newer phones have, or will have, better specs.
I'm drooling over the new HTC OneX+ which may come out in the U.S. by the end of the year (no official announcement yet). Among the reasons I got the Vivid were the SD card slot and the removable battery. But the built-in memory will be 64 GB, and by making the battery non-removable, they can actually use a larger battery. It will have Android 4.1 to start with.
Here is an article on the OneX+

Keeping it fersure... getting 10megabits down with 6/up. snappy and fast... rooted here.
came from a droid incredible with a dope rom from skyraider... I was running for 36 hours at a time with no kernel changes or undervolt... so my only complaint is the batt life sucks in comparison.

Welcome to 4G. Its not the phone its 4G that sucks your battery. I will say this; The bionic is by FAR the best on battery life compared to all 4G phones on the market right now.
I adore it. I came from a Moto Droid that had a display that died on me, so I was waiting for this.
Yeah, the screen's pixels are a little annoying at times, but other than that its speeds are INCREDIBLE, the new motoblur or whatever it is called now isn't obtrusive (the phone is actually fast enough to run it where it is actually attractive), and best of all it feels great in the hand.
Also, the extended battery's replacement back for the phone doesn't add that much width to it, making it a really good purchase. Shame none of the cases they had in stock support the extended battery.
One thing that I think people ignore when writing about new phones is the sound quality, and many people I have called are astounded when I tell them that I'm on a cell phone. I was on the highway going 60 mph with the windows and roof open, trucks all around me, and my dad thought I was on a landline when I called him. However they made the microphone, they got it down perfectly.
Now, I *NEEDED* a phone because of work, so it isn't an option to wait for the Droid Prime or the iPhone 5. Am I happy with the Bionic? Absolutely. Would I have waited for an even better phone if I could have? Perhaps.
I feel like when phones come out, they are outdated within a few days unless it's an iPhone. Eventually you have to bite the bullet, and I think that the Bionic is the best bullet I've ever bitten into!

CM7 on the Tbolt has a toggle, but ya, I can see this as a pain on this phone. However, if you are using 4G - try juice defender. When the screen is off it will turn off data (and you can have your data turn on however often you wish to check for new data etc).
Highly recommend it.
I had to charge my phone yesterday twice. I went about 1.6hrs on the original charge then fully charged it. With heavy use it needed a charge around bedtime(2130). Today I got it off the charger at 0530 and used it heavy for about 40 mins, then barely touched it and it's at 70%. I have juice defender and it set to CDMA only. I do not like the battery life so far but I has ATK on it. I took it off and will see how it goes. I think the task killer is more harm then good.
Does anyone know the battery life with 4G turned off?
No 4G at all in my state yet, but our area should be getting it this year.

Yeah and I would imagine there is a lot of bloat that can be removed with custom ROM's or tweaking CPU settings.
//oops.. double post.
I am so temped to say forget and go back to old faithful.... Ip4. I can go like two entire days on a single charge. I admit I have never used an android phone without the ATK. Maybe that's my problem.....
I like it coming from two Htc phones. Im only having an issue with the vibrate sounding really annoying like its broken and the battery only dropping by the 10's. It dropped from 100 to 90 then to 80%. Nothing in between. Im on an extended battery and seems to be doing okay so far.

Myself as well. My only complaint is that with the extended battery it makes it feel like I'm holding a brick when compared to regular battery, but that's a small complaint considering how well the battery performs... It's just how thin the device is when compared to other LTE devices with regular battery...
Rooted in seconds and im really happy with it now. Just make sure you update the bb binary once rooted. It makes a hell of a difference imo

Just picked up an Atrix HD at lunchtime, intitial thoughts

Cliffs: Shut up and read it
To be 100% honest, I don't like it as much as the Atrix 2. The build quality is on par, there's just something too....i dont know...RAZR-esque about it. I had an HTC One X in between that will be given to a coworker now, I'll stick with the AHD for the time being. It feels good in the hand, doesn't seem as prone to slipping out of it like the One X does. I'm afraid i'm going to destroy that thing by dropping it.

The car dock was included, I walked out the door for $108 with the phone and dock. It's pretty solid, but definitely a new design from older Motorola car docks. Basically, you dock the phone, then you slide the power connector into the phone, it's a 2 part method. Not a dealbreaker, but I know i'll forget to slide the power thing over and it'll just kill my battery at some point.
The camera, while better than the Atrix 2, is still not up to my standards. The HTC is still MUCH better quality, but it's not the end of the world. What good is a great camera if I drop the HTC?
The data speeds are absolutely ridiculous, I took a few speedtests with the HTC and then the AHD back to back. I managed about 15-20 down with the HOX, and 30-40 with the AHD. THAT is awesome! So much for my 5gb data cap .
The interface is nice. I quite like what Motorola has done with "Blur" or whatever they're officially calling it these days. I somehow managed to get AT&T Messages handling my text messages, that isnt going to fly with me, I prefer the stock one. I like the swipe features of the icons/widgets on the home screens, very cool even if I don't use them often.
The screen isn't as bright as the HOX outside in direct sunlight, but i'm sure it's as good or better than the GS3. Still not a deal breaker for me. Oh, I did not have auto brightness enabled when i went outside, it is now. I may edit this after I walk outside in a bit. I do feel there is a lot of wasted bezel space, but I'm not the engineer and have no clue what's shoved underneath said wasted space.
The clock/weather/data monitor widget is cool, it actively monitors the amount of data remaining! I really like that, i've used 3.53/5GB this month, thankfully the billing cycle ends on tuesday.
All in all, I'm pleased with the purchase for now. It's a change from the Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 designs, however I don't think it reduces the build quality at all. To me it feels better built than the HTC One X, and miles better than a GS3.
I am taking pic/screenshot requests and questions for the afternoon, so go nuts.
Side-note. While i was at the store, there was a guy upgrading to an iPhone 4S and had a cracked back glass. I jokingly offered him $50 for it, so now i'm the proud new owner of a $60 (including the replacement glass) iphone 4 that will either be given to the wife to replace her dying ipod touch, or it'll show up on Craigslist in a few days and pay for my AHD and a few Abita Andygators.
Smart actions just eliminated any new for tasker or locale. This thing is great!

picked one up as well. haven't tested outside, but inside the screen is brighter, crisper and colors more pronounced than my One X. It is especially noticeable for me in Maps and Gmail.I also emailed one of the wallpapers to myself and displayed it on the HOX side by side with the Moto. Crisper on the Moto and colors slightly more vibrant. It is a cooler screen while the One X is warmer, but I prefer how white backgrounds appear on the MAHD. We'll see how the week goes. If the battery will last me through as work day as the HOX does, then it's a keeper as I like the on screen buttons, near-stock ICS feel, etc. Camera is definitely not as good as the One X but still decent and I think I can live with that.
Noten the picture of the wallpaper, my camera focused more on the HOX so in the pic it appears slightly more crisp than the MAHD, but in person it is not.
I have too say the ATRIX HD is pretty sweet! I love the screen and the can.. low light it isn't that great but out in daytime its really good. The screen is beautiful and I love the feel and I'm getting great battery life.. few things I could change would be the home launcher.. way too much like an I phone

Well you start off with one screen like an iphone, well now they have two... but you add more screens as you add more apps and widgets... and as far as i know, i might be wrong but the main screen is the far left one.. like an iphone. and you can't change it at all. i hate it. also you can't use the clock widget on another launcher without root access, or at least it wouldn't work on Nova. so yeah
but other than that i really do like the phone.

So I went to the release event Motorola had for the Atirx HD, it was really nice they had some cool stuff to show. well during the meeting the main guy said a very interesting comment, "We had to take somethings out to make it a better price." So after the demonstration i asked the rep, so what "things" did you take out?
he said with a nervousness voice, oh nothing to big, we had to reduce the 13mp cam to a 8 and drop the 16gb to an 8gb. oh and we took out NFC.
and then he said they had a new app that works with NFC but cuz att wanted a lower price phone they took it out. i guess its going to be on the new razor.. so yeah.
that really it. but other than that don't you just love the phone?
Once you set up multiple screens, can you drag the home/main screen set by default as the first screen wherever you want it?
Glad to see some reviews and even comparisons to the HOX. By all accounts the camera is inferior. How does it stack up against the GNex?

I'm assuming they asked for their Vehicle Dock back? Thanks for the pics and review.
So I guess we have AT&T to blame for stripping the Atrix HD of all it's glory and what it could have been (i.e., 13 megapixels, 16gb, NFC). The question is, would you pay $199 instead of $99 for this phone if it included this stuff?

If only it had 13megapixels, 16GB internals, NFC, a 4.7/4.8" screen, and Webtop, it wouldn't be a question for me. I'd get that phone in a heartbeat. But sadly.. AT&T opted it to be a budget phone.. So, no go for me. Gonna get the SGS3 instead.. A shame too. I really had high hopes for the next Atrix. A little heartbroken here. /proudownerofatrix4g
Those two things - camera and battery life - are the only things holding me back from complete satisfaction, BUT...is it really worth $150 more to get a One X or SGS III?? For me, I have to reluctantly say...maybe...we'll see if I can coax more juice out of it first (before my buyer's remorse period is over). Here's a low light picture sample, since there is a lack of those available online.
Its like I'm back in the OG Atrix forum back on its launch day. So much disappointment when everyone started leaving us for the Inspire 4G. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like any devs are working on the third Atrix.

The temp has been okay on mine, but I'm home over 90% of the time (telecommute for work) and I'm on WiFi. Some people say having it on 4G it gets a little warm.
I had mine freeze this morning after a phone call. Had to force a reboot (Power + Vol Down).

First Anniversary of My Vivid

Today is the first anniversary of my Vivid. I now have LTE. I dealt with the 4.0.3 "upgrade" that shut down voice dialer by using a third-party program. I did not try to unlock, root, or install a custom ROM. As a result, my phone works for both calls and data access. All of my programs work fine (execpt Google's Movie app and that's not the phone's problem). I will certainly use it through the second year of my contract, and maybe beyond.
However, from reading some of the few recent posts, it appears that this forum may die before my phone does. I realize that a lot of people did not get what they wanted, and they are moving on. There are certainly a lot of new, good phones here and coming. But for me, I am very satisfied with the phone.
The phone is great except for battery life. What we're unhappy about and what's making this forum die is how hard at&t and HTC made it to develop for this phone.

true, true
One more year to go before I can upgrade to something else. The Vivid is still probably the best phone I've ever owned despite its drawbacks.
Its a very nice phone...its only drawback being custom ROMs/development
However I had an amazing stock experience with great battery life...I easily got 12+hours of life which included lte on all day with screen on for about 3 hours.. and it was always smooth too! -cant complain with that when my infuse which is a single core and no lte only gets an hour or two better battery life...
My upgrade is in two months...but I won't be using it, I'm waiting for the sgs4 or for a nexus that has an SD slot...I'll be around for a while

If only 2,300mAh battery, will that stop you from buying N5 ?

I am a huge Nexus phone fan, having owned all four Nexus phones the last few years. But also have owned different phones in-between
But lately to me, long battery life has become my #1 most wanted feature. I hammer on my phone all day during the work week, and none of the Nexus phones last me a full day with my kind of use, and I do install custom ROM's with battery friendly kernels, etc.. still doesn't help.
My Nexus 4 I get around 4h On Screen Time, but only total usage of around 10h - 11h out of the battery before the phone is dead. So that sucks for me, unplug at 6:30am, and by 4:30pm it's pretty much done. My Galaxy Nexus was far worse than that, the G Nex blew on battery.
I use my phone, as an actual phone, go figure I can't understand people that rarely do phone calls, how can't you be on the phone anymore ? For running my business and dealing with clients, approx 2 hours of phone calls per day. GPS Navigation used every day, for at least one hour. Text like crazy all day. Read and send e-mails all day. Surf the web.
Only phone that could handle my type of use was the Note 2. That thing could be hammered hard on a workday and still be going until bedtime with juice still left. No other phone I owned could do that. But the Note was too large for my tastes, hard to one hand use.
Saying all of that, I need the Nexus 5 with the rumored option for 3,000mAh + 32GB storage. But now it sounds like that rumor has been squashed. So I might get the G2 instead, and run a ported Nexus 5 ROM down the road.
battery
I have a note1, running official 4.12 with a different kernel. Battery isn't bad, but I usually never let it get below 50% without at least tapping it a little bit during the day.
Perhaps part of the reason (if it holds true, these aren't official specs) of the smaller battery is maybe 4.4 is a little less power
hungry, or the SOC inside the device, the memory etc, consume less power?
Of course! I'm all set with multiple cheap battery banks strategically placed at work, in the car, and in my briefcase for those times I need the battery boost.
As cheap as $5.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RED-2600mah..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item485af1789d
Nope i will defenitly buy one *-*

I agree with you 200%.
I currently have a GS3 with a 3,000mAh Samsung extended battery and I can do the all day. I was not able to do with 2100 stock.
If 2300 will be confirmed and if they'll not be able two do some crazy optimisation, I'll get a G2 or Z1. My concern is that AOSP on these two devices is zero at the moment.
As 64gb is out of discussion as well as sd card espansion, USB OTG will be very important as 32GB are not enough for me!

Agree on the way a phone should be used and my usage pattern is similar to yours. I can hardly get through a day on a single charge and I would be out of juice by 6-7pm. However, battery life is no concern to me (and many others) at all. I mean, how far are you from an outlet at all times? I have a charger in the office, in my car, in my briefcase and on several strategic locations at home. We switch phones pretty much on an annual basis. The battery won't die in one year regardless of your abuse. So charge your phone whenever you can and ask for smaller batteries for a smaller lighter phones. Also from what I have seen for G2 battery life, at 2300mah the N5 might have enough juice for you and I to go through a day on a single charge.

Yep.
I am more sad, because the N5 is based off the G2, which has a 3,000mAh battery stock. Of all things to cut back on, and not keep the same between the two phones, don't let it be the battery.
What is Googles reasoning behind changing the battery from the G2 in the Nexus 5 ?
Oh well, looks like G2 here I come. And development will pick up big on that phone. Its only been out a few weeks, and the international G2 just came out last week.
Let's see a Nexus 5 ROM posted on the G2, since they are so similar.

N5 is over and inch narrower and and nearly 3 inches shorter. Maybe it has to do with lack of real estate. Besides if we deduct from G2 we should expect 7.5-8h sot.:fingers-crossed:

CM and AOKP ROM's are pretty quick to release new builds, based off the latest Android release. Its not a 4 month wait, maybe 4 weeks worse case.
The G2 is unlocked on T-Mobile, and International version. The ATT version has an exploit out, and said to be easy to root and the work around hasn't stopped custom ROM development.

I just hope that if the battery is this size, that it will at least be able to take a 2.1 amp charge.
It won't affect my decision at all. The battery life on my N4 lasts the entire day on a full charge with moderate on-screen usage, plus I'd rather them sacrifice battery life and megapixels in order to have a quad core beast with a 1080p HD display for the low price of $299.
I'll be buying the Nexus 5 day one, can't wait!
I would buy it even if the battery was the same as the N4. All these battery nerds are getting way too worried about a phone they haven't even used yet. I guarantee that we will not care if you cry about the 2300 battery, have fun in the N4 forum, we will be here, the future.

No. 2300mah will not stop me.
According to anandtech the lg g2 gets 7.9 hrs of battery life on lte web browsing. If you just reduce this proportionally the nexus 5 could get 6 hrs web browsing on LTE which is like double what my gnex gets.
Some people clearly spend every waking minute doing everything they can think of on their phone. The Nexus 5 probably won't work for those people but I expect it to be competitive with the last batch of mainstream flagships, aka the HTC one and galaxy s4. I think Google wanted a thin phone and just like the nexus 7 2013 they reduced the battery size to achieve this goal but only up to the point where battery life would be acceptable for like 90% of users.
I'm getting it no matter what battery it has...even solar!
I'm definitely getting one, my current phone has a 1500 mah battery... so 2300 is a major upgrade for me
Yes
:good: YESSIR! Been waiting on this since first hearing about it, never owned a Nexus device and currently own a Samsung Galaxy Young S6310L, hate Touchwiz & looking for the best stock experience and to start with Android 4.4? Great deal and this phone has a 1300mAh battery so a 2300/3000mAh upgrade should be great, going for the 32gb version which is rumored to have a 3000mAh battery so yes
Looking forward to see what developers has in store for it and maybe I can become one someday

Make me feel good about Nexus 4 again

Hello Dear Nexus 4 owners and friends,
Holiday greetings. I am finding it so difficult to stay satisfied with my Nexus 4. With all the great deals this past weekend and then the Moto X (Android Central Phone Of The Year) for only $350 Wednesday and next Monday I just am having identity issues with my current phone. I mean it "feels" fast enough, I get GREAT battery life, I've got KitKat, and mods.... I just want more. My ideal phone is the LG G2 but thanks to good ole T-Mobile's un-carrier foolishness I can't get one for free with a contract or upgrade anymore. The Moto X seems nice but it's got the same size screen and the camera appears so so.... I don't want so so... I've already got that... I want bad a$$ blow your mind fast with awesome camera and a solid battery life to boot.... Then at the end of the day I think overall My Nexus 4 has been good to me today. It easily gets 14 - 15 hours battery life with 3+ hours screen on time... Plays games fast... I think if it only had a slightly better screen and camera I would be happy... Anyone else going through this during this festive shopping season?
Thanks folks!

Well, you have listed all the best things about nexus 4 there and to add, active development support from this community. If you're still unhappy about it then buy a new phone. LG G2 seems to be a good choice if battery life and camera is what you're after. Nexus 5 is good too though I'm not sure about its battery life.

My brother owns a n5 and battery life is much better than mine. I undervolt, underclock, etc and he just... owns a stock n5
GF has the LG G2 and its a nice phone. wish development was more active for it. soooo wanna put CM or whatever on it. im not a big fan of the UI, but she loves it. Mind you shes an ex-craPhone user. Imo its a good phone on looks, battery, and features. i love my N4(miss my Gnex as well). its a great phone and lovethe development going for it. yea camera is eh, but i dont take that much pics. enjoy the nexusness about it. dislike the rear glass back(gf dropped it out of my hands while taking my car keys. thank god for my slip on case). only thing i want is a bigger SD. the G2 come with a 32gb SD from tmobile and the N4's 16gb makes me cry knowing that i have 2gb of space left. If you like the stock feel of android, pick between the Moto X or the N5. If you want a new phone with something different you got the G2. have you checked out sony's new baby yet? step-padre has one and its a nice phone.
Got a nexus 5, it doesn't feel as premium as the 4 does with its curved glass and solid feel.
Battery wise, I only use 2g with data off and WiFi only, my nexus 4 edges it.
You're having issues with yourself, not with the phone. Get a psychiatrist.
Well I just learned that with the t-mobiles uncarrier plan and with the jump thing every 6 months when you trade your phone in they squash whatever you owe on your phone and let you upgrade to the next one without a penalty.
So I'm not sure I'd exactly call it foolishness. I think the LG G2 is 0 down right now and 17 a month. . . you can either keep it longer or trade it in at 6 months...

i think that anything that is not nexus can't be considered an ANDROID phone, so I'll stay with n4 because the n5 doesn't offer anithing that can justify the deal.

I think 17 is AT&T G2?
"Jump" is a way to generate more revenue out of customers...
Current price of T-mobile LG G2 is 24 a month(never seen it drop to 17, the most is 50 off- 0 down) 10+24+taxes add up to about 37 a month...
You would be constantly paying more after 6 months ($10 jump fee plus the monthly payment on the new phone or existing phone.)
I bought a like new LG G2 for $450 total 2 months after manufacturing date.
I think it's a good deal...
Honestly I really love the Nexus 4. If I had T-Mobile coverage at home, I would not have to upgrade. However Nexus 4 does not Wifi-calling which I realize I really need when I'm at home. The camera and faster CPU are added benefits. However Nexus 4 seriously is fast enough to me and the LTE is nice when I go out. I was planning to switch to AT&T for a free phone and better signal but their 25% price increase forced me to drop the idea.

Well for me other factors to consider is that I'm broke.... Lol. To get a new phone outright I would probably have to sell my Nexus 4 and 2012 Nexus 7 tablet. I'm already paying $20 a month on my wife's Galaxy S4. So I don't wanna up my cell phone bill yet another 15-20 dollars a month for my phone. I guess I just get bored easily. Lol. Had the HD2, Then Galax S2, now my Nexus 4...i just get bored and wanna check out new stuff. At one point I said "The Nexus 4 is gonna be my last phone"..... Guess not.. I will probably figure out something after the new year. I can make more changes with my TMO plan in January. I don't wanna just run out and buy a Moto X because it's the cheapest... Don't really wanna settle.

The Voice activated Google Now! Alone makes it worth its wait in gold for me when driving and need to send email or SMS! The N4 is still a great phone! Yeah would love the N5! But not got the funds or the inclination to replace a device that has not once shown, its not up to the task it is set! My Wife has the Galaxy Nexus! Another great phone that is still performing for what she needs and its her i will be upgrading first to the N5. Think too many people get side lined by the speed of how quickly our phones are surpassed with newer and shiny models! Its like the camera on phones! What do people expect? Your not going to take your wedding photos using your phone! My phone is and always will be a tool! Not a fashion accessory otherwise i would have bought into the iOS crowd (Mac user so not Anti-Apple). The N4 is still performing and with the great Dev's on XDA don't really see me getting bored anytime soon!

Oh I didn't realize that that wasn't the price. I called yesterday about looking at an upgrade and was offered 0 down and 17 a month on a GTO and on a nexus 5. Maybe those were just holiday deals or something. Also I don't ever talk to regular customer service I always go straight to the I want to close my account department.
To me its not a bad deal though that means every 6 months at that price I'm spending about 120$ .. and get a new device.
However all of that said in understood I'm not looking to go from my Nexus 4 for a while. I'm running a stock kitLat rooted with faux kernel and love it.

It's a freaking phone, it's not supposed to replace your wife. Just do something else when you're bored with it. But it's your money, if you can afford another phone, go for it.
I have been down this path before, getting a new phone like every month. But with the unlimited customization I can do with the Nexus I couldn't get bored with it. I love the speed of KitKat with ART, I don't even feel the need to get a Nexus 5 yet. I can't see myself dealing with TouchWiz, Sense or any other third party bloated UIs again. If I have the urge to, I can install skins or theme it, just take a look at what people can do in this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990251
The fun with Nexus devices is the tinkering and hacking you can do with it, without losing a large chunk of your wallet. If you just want the latest, greatest and fastest, you will be chasing an endless target.

My reasons:
-Fully working sweep2wake and sleep with NEO kernel, LG G2's knock knock feature got nothing on this.
-Faux color and sound kernel features
-PSX rom (I'm normally not convinced by roms that claim to be fast, but this is clearly fast translated to real experience, not just benchmarks. Just hope it'll continue to be supported in some form at xda.)
-The vast amount of roms and their features.
-And the number one reason: MultiRom
