[Q] [HELP] No PVK, no fun? HD7 as WP7 Load Demo only and nothing else... - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
After more than a week of non-stop reading and trying to fix my problem I decided to register here on XDA Forum and ask you guys for help.
I'm wonder if there is a solution for problem I have with HD7 and of course to confirm if I'm right...
Maybe it's very simple to fix, but I don't know how and because it's my first broken phone for +10 years I spent so much time trying to fix it.
Okey so let's stary short story about my phone... I bought HTC HD7 phone in ~Jan/Feb 2012. From that time I flashed it many times with custom roms and used RSPL/HSPL - no Goldcard and service Jtag.
Anyway there was something wrong with that phone - not really know what, but with no reason and randomly its software hangs and after reboot loose all data - this happen to me few times before. (I bought it brand new).
And now 8 days ago this "Memory Loss" trick happens again. But this time, there was no way to initialize system again - I mean OS startup and displayed some first initialization steps, but... wait a second: "Low storage memory" message appears. So I see memory card was not recognized and in about it shows 13MB of Total space and 0MB free. So I started researching and reading and of course from beginning I expected that microSD card is damaged.
This tooks me 8 days and my rooms now looks like, so please guys help me

... and problem still not fixed
------------------------------------------------------
1) I spent few days on downloading recommended software by users with similar problem to mine - Format SD card issue after WP7 (used on a PC, laptop...)
- ..and also I reflashed my old HTC G1 to get more disk tools bundled into FW and tried from basic DD wipe these protected cards...
Status: No success. (I didn't knew before how SD Protection really works...)
2) I found out on Microsoft website note about WP7 and SD cards. (everyone should read):
MS WP7 SD Memory: goo.gl/LMQ2l
:highfive: High five for Microsoft - I believe people now complain how Microsoft sucks is because of use protected area of SD cards in new phone OS and I guess they complain exactly the same when Microsoft is not secure enough... :silly:
Okey so I found great short list of devices that support Protected Area of SD cards and are able to format it/erease them. There was highly recommended (and I agree too) to use Nokia phone on Symbian - FAST AND 100% WORKING. Unfortunately a friend with N95 could bring me that phone at next one day and it was morning, so I was looking and trying other devices...
Status: (broken?) microSD not recognized by Nokia 6600.
Next day status: (broken?) microSD after 3 errors successfully and quick formatted. Double checked, wiped and looks like it works fine. Thanks to Symbian and Nokia N95
NOTE FOR EVERYONE who has a problem with protected SD after WP7/8 and it's not visible anywhere (PC, WP7/8):
GO AND GET NOKIA WITH SYMBIAN AND DON'T WASTE TIME!
3) I installed back to the phone 8GB SanDisk microSD card freshly formatted in N95 and then on PC to FAT32 Primary partition with cluster size 4 and 8KB, but the card was still not recognized. Not even touched... I used for test other 2GB and 4GB one but I was thinking that maybe these are smaller and maybe too old so not compatible. However the 4GB one was 2nd class card.
4) I listen to someone's who wrote on a forum: "go and buy new one it must be working". So I bought one - SanDisk, model exactly the same mentioned by a user who successfully fix microSD WP7 issue.
Status: brand new microSD not recognized.
5) And now is a time for ONE of TWO BEST jokes on XDA I found. It's: RUU_Schubert_XBMOD_V1.01
I spent more than 2 days trying to flashing this ROM with different Radios and trying to update HD7 with the StorageLock.cab
But how to send anything to device with not enough space and with the ROM that brings huge space around 3MB?! ...and the words of another genius guy who say that this method works 100%. And to be sure do this from Goldcard (not explained what).
6) So I made a Y-cable like connector - used two USB ports from some old USB-hub and power source from the same dismounted little bit USB Hub. Connector looks like a USB in a condom:
------------------------------------------------------
IMAGE LINK: goo.gl/9C98o
------------------------------------------------------
7) CID I read using my old BlueAngel/QTEK 9090/MDA III Pocket PC device running Windows Mobile 6.5 - custom from XDA of course ;]
8) When Goldcard was ready and S58 cleared I used it to flash XBMOD ROM as mentioned. No way to update it with that Cab. It was hanging at next reboot after applied .cab.
9) So I decided to mod this ROM little bit and cut it from Office and other things and include app in it. I'm not sure I've done it okey, but when I run Storage Lock, the app starts, notified me that SD card is unlocked. And asked to lock it? When I choosed Yes the Fail message appears.
So still not working...
If someone would to use lite XBMOD with bundled StorageLock inside the ROM as System part:
DOWNLOAD XBMOD w/ StorageLock included-----------
LINK: goo.gl/mpkP0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) And even I listen to this stupid and unbelievable idea that back cover with WiFi antenna needs to be properly installed - otherwise SD card will not be detected - I made fake one for tests and I added additional 3 Ohms resistor to make more real if there is installed some measure software...
Still nothing.
11) I flashed many ROMS through DIAG mode and classic method (Vol-Down + Power) - and I didn't get back my SD card recognized.
Here is a list of FW I tried:

In the initialize point after Windows Phone boots it appears message that files are corrupted and phone must be rebooted. But I tried it 20 times and still the same.

And now I would like to ask some questions... And please bring all ideas you have... Thank you!
Q1] How device PVK can be loosed?
Q2] How to restore or generate correct one device PVK key and finally how to apply it?
Q3] Missing device PVK key cause SD card initalization (I think yes.)?
Q4] Is it possible to prepare ROM wich will include in the system all these StorageLock, StorageFullTool, and other HTC test tools? Let's say a very lite ROM with basics and tools to manage the unit that will work without inserted SD card? Is it possible to cook ROM like that? Any ROM Maestro can do this?
Thank you!!!!!!
Have a nice day!

It sounds like the same problem that some users have had when the try an use/run the Storage Full Tool... Did you by change use this tool on your device?

Hello. No, I never installed this one. ;(
I'm wonder if there is some phone initialize Rom (?)...

And what about Windows Phone activation. Is this the way to get valid PVK? Does anyone know if there is a way to restore even not valid PVK files? I would like to use this phone even without Marketplace and other...

What's Wrong With My Computer!?!?!

I have two PC's, one is a XP Media Center Edition. It had a virus on it and kept getting a corrupt file, so my techyish relative came and wiped the hard drive from scratch ( or so he says but it was a partial wipe) and reloaded the OS onto it. It worked fine, but then kept getting the corrupt file again. I then decided to order the recovery disks from HP, which is the computer manufactuer. They arrived and I put them in, followed the steps, and all wen well until I came to the recovery partition. It was backing everything up ( one time process only) into the recovery partition all fine and dandy until it came to a file that had to do with Microsoft Office. It stayed their for about 45 minutes backing up this file where the longest had been 10 minutes max for all the others. I looked the file up and it said it was a small 10 mb file, so I turned the computer off and went to normal without the recovery partition. Worked fine until one day something happened and I guess I needed to do the recovery again (it's been a few months since this has happened) and did all the steps, but it wouldn't take. It gets to about 4% and then dies with a BSOD and this message:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
DATA_KERNAL_INPAGE_ERROR
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Copied it down word for word, space for space. Can anyone help me get this thing up and running again? It's now getting important.
Forgot to mention that I get the same problem each time I put the recovery disk in.
I'd recommend using a NON-Recovery Disk, but rather a Clean, Non-OEM, Windows Disk. If the issue pertains to the Kernal, it's usually unfixable without a Hard Boot of the Drive. You should do more than Re-Format.. you should delete all the partitions off of your Hard Drive with a Windows Disk, then pop in the Recovery Disks and do the OEM install.
So I need to wipe the hard drive clean again and put in another non OEM OS?
Not quite. Wipe the HDD clean with the NON-OEM Windows Disk, as most Recovery Disks do not allow you to alter the Partitions [Everything is done for you], then pop in your Recovery Disk and let it install the new Primary, and possibly the Recovery, Drives.
I see what your saying now, so what exactly happened to it?
Get Windows 7
I have windows 7, that's my other computer.
The guy at the un paso store got you too!!
At the step store? Lol.

When your supposed "Tech Savvy" friend attempted to fix your computer.. he, I'm assuming, did a simple "Repair" of the partition with an XP Disc. That is LITERALLY the most unwanted version of a fix ever... All it does is replace the system files, but keeps all of the other software that may have been conflicting with the system itself, BUT usually, all of the software is inaccessible. It's still on your computer, f*cking it up, but you can't see it.
Thus I always say, "If you get a bluescreen... more than once, and don't know what the code means... don't repair your computer.. re-format that b*tch after recreating the partitions."
But, if your XP compy has the specs to support Windows 7, your best bet, all in all, would be to install Windows 7. Doing so will save you the hassle of having to manually download all of the drivers for it... unlike installing a non OEM Windows XP [have to download & install the drivers manually].
PurpleLlamaLover
it sounds like the HP recovery disk could well be corrupt,
So you now have 3 options:
1. Try Linux Ubunut 10.4 LTS (Free Distro)
2. Buy a ligit copy of Windows 7
3. Download Windows Vista / 7 / XP from a torrent
and try untill you find a OS you lyk

I'll try and get 7 for it. It was the last of the XP models, just before vista so i'd think it should be able to run 7. Think I need a new hard drive?

I just want it back up and running, I don't want vista though. On the little windows sticker is says "Vista Capable" but i've heard bad things about it, especially rom updating.

ummm i use vista and have updated all my win mo phones on it...never had a problem
Really? Well, i'll keep in mind if I can't get XP back on it. I'd rather just have 7 and XP. I don't care what it runs as long as it runs again.
the best suggestion in this thread was install linux , however i take it that isn't a possibility. so here's what you need to do, you will require the following:
1) a fresh mind
2) a freshly burned copy of XPwhateverflavoryouwant
3) you do not care about anything on that drive.
put in freshly burned xp into computer, boot to cd drive, follow onscreen instructions, delete all partitions, create new NTFS partition, install to new partition.
if error comes back, it is not a software issue. fixing a xp bsod really is simple if it isnt hardware related.

PS Freedom Xperia Walkthrough [UPDATED 2/1/11]

Happy new Year and thank you for yor feedback, I may be late to the party but my work is killing my spare time. So, Iam trying to update the walkrthough to cope with the ongoing developments.
On a side note I've upgraded my xperia to an android device but Iam keeping it for jailbreaking purposes
Lets get it on!
Assuming your device is covered in the compatibility list you have to have the device rooted.
For how to Root (HARD-SPL) Your Xperia X1 check Here!!
Then its a matter of OS, in this thread we are talking about HTC Devices that run WinMo as a native Operating System. This hack works only in Linux enviroment so we need Android to run on the device.
How to run android depends on the particular device so one must go to the respective thread.
For Xperia its this thread
The Froyo Development has stopped but the current version is far superior than what we used some months ago.
In short dowload the xdandroid stuff, put the unrared files on your sd's root and boot through HARET once.
-
We now should be at a point that our device boots normally to The 2.2 froyo android version through Haret. Then we have to replace the module and zImage files with the PSfreedom respective ones plus the psfreedom.ko file. All these should be placed and overriten in the root folder of the SDCard.
Here is the latest Payload for Xperia
(need some help with the changes, but Iam impressed so far with the outcome)
All the preliminary work is done, now for the ****ty "do this everytime you wanna play back ups" job
Assuming the phone is off...
Turn it on
Wait for winmo to boot then run HARET from the device's file manager
Wait till android fully boots and navigate to the menu->DevTools->Terminal Emulator
in the terminal you must enter the following lines...
su(enter)
cd(space)/sdcard(enter)
insmod(space)psfreedom.ko(enter)

At this point the phone is ready
Pull out the power cord of the PS3 (or flip the backswitch to off)
insert the phone at the first usb port (preferably with the shortest USB cable you can find)
flip the switch or insert the power cord
wait 3 to 4 seconds
press power on followed quickly by eject
you should hear 3 short blips
it takes 5 seconds for PS3 to boot
and DONE.
if it doesnt succed just repeat the process. if it never suceeds then you don't run @ 3.41 FW
[UPDATE#0] I Updated the PSFreedom Files link from the "Homebrew only" Free version to the Backup Enabled "Full" Version. Still Ver 1.0 though...
[UPDATE#1] It definatly needs 4,5 tries, I cannot get it to work in the first try...
[UPDATE#2] Everytime I try to run a backup my FAT PS3 Freezes... and to think I came this close...
[UPDATE#3] Stupid me, didn't check it out in the above compatibility list... tried another one works like a charm
[UPDATE#4] If you are 100% sure you did everything right and still you cannot perform the exploit on the console you should not turn off the device and boot it again, you can have it in terminal mode as long as you wish and perform the exploit on the PS3 again and again... This is also usefull when the console freezes or crashes, you just perform the power cycle only!!
Well There goes one day of my life I think I covered more than the basics, If you thing I helped you I would appreciate a line or two
[UPDATE#5] Went out today and felt like spending 300 Euros, got my self a Slim one. I will be testing it later today...
[UPDATE#6] I found out that the PS3 Slim model has a much greater success rate for the hack to work. Also, I tried all the steps and bypassed the active sync stuff and I can confirm that by bypassing it, IT WILL NOT WORK
[UPDATE#7] 5 Days into this and 3 with the slim model, slim works better BUT, the problems occure because of the xperia hardware/xdandroid port... it works but not always, its nerve wracking I know, so do the Developers of PS Freedom as they updated their wiki Raphael page page in the problems worning section.
aaaanyway, Tomorow Iam upgrading my HDD my old one is full.
[UPDATE#8] 11 days later and I have updated my fat ps3 to 3.42 and kept my slim hacked. Its a tedious work to enable every time xdandroid and the psfreedom hack but as I said it is free, anyway, having the slim console AND a very short cable (mine is 10cm) works EVERY SINGLE TIME, no probs with that. I had though 2 issues of console freezing... I don't know if it is the hack or my new HDD (7200rpm) nothing serious though...
[UPDATE#9] I've tried to replace the active sync step and connected the device to ps3, first time it worked, second time it failed...
[UPDATE#10] Well, thats it for me, I could no longer cope with the tedious steps in order to play for an hour, I've bought a jailbreak clone and flashed my xperia with a diffrent rom and formatted my SDcard. for the time being, Iam no longer using the Raphael hack...
[UPDATE#11] As it turns out my jailbreak clone is not upgradable (it was damn cheap after all). Anyways, I browsed to PSFREEDOM.com to see the development of the raphael hack and to my surprise i found out two things...
a) This thread is hotlinkedvia this page http://psfreedom.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_XPERIA_X1, which is kinda cool I guess...
b) I found out (probably need to read my thread a little bit more ) that more recent hermes payloads are been released for xperia...
So, I will refresh any broken links, start again, and keep updated this first post agains the willings of our beloved sony
[Update#12] The true reason that I returned is that my fat PS3 pulled a YLOD on me and left me empty handed this holiday season, so I dusted off my jailbreaked one

The same thing happened with me the first few tries, this message means that the process is not right, I solved this issue by re formatting xdandroid again and carefully placing and overrighting the files...
When you are 100% certain that the procedure is right (according to my walkthroug) then its only a matter o timing... keep trying mate.
First time i run android use original the module and zImage file and then replace them with ps fredoom files or from first i use replaced files??

I think its very clear that you have to boot on android at least once with the original files....
(the initial install and calibration)
I reinstall android 2 times and this time whne i connect device to ps3 no message about unknown device have been shown but ps3 dont show nothing ( manager.pkg) for install
I dont know what problem's.

So you finally done it!!
Under the GAME section on the XMB you should see a new item called "Install Package Files"
take a usb drive and put inside (root) the manager then insert it in the other free usb slot.
Press X at the "Install Package Files" and Install the manager...

so i managed to get android runnig via fatsal.
when i try to follow your terminal instructions it gives me back errors!
so i figured out actually the right comand is cd(space)/sdcard!!!!
but when i try to do the same with endboot it says no such folder!
so i tryed the next step the insmod psfredoom.ko it does something then i connect to my ps3 do the power trick and all but the most that i get on my ps3 is that "an unkwon device is connected" and nothing else! any suggestion?

What I have gathered together in this walkthrough is what many people suggested and some other people including me found usefull and working.
You probably don't have the proper file arrangement in your SD card
and the actual command line is "cd sdcard" to access the sd card and thed "cd andboot" to access the "andboot" folder where the PS Freedom files reside.
hope I helped

yeah. earlier I placed EVERYTHING in the root instead of making a folder called "andboot" so I'm going to do that again and see what I get. I think it's a bad psfreedom.ko file.
People...
When you installed xdandroid on your xperia the guy who made the port said that you have to create an andboot folder to place the android kernel inside...
so by default you have an andboot folder.
then its a matter of overiting 2 files there... simple as that.
Finally i did it
It works for me now
Perhaps i am stupid, but i cannot get it to work. This is how i do it:
Copy the android files to the sdcard and boot it in the phone with the haret.exe (takes a loooong time to boot). Reboot the phone back to WM, copy over the files module and zImage file, boot back into android with haret, startup terminal, write in the commands and so on. I start up the PS3 as instructed but i only get the message unknown USB and I cannot see any install pkg file.
I have tried and read all the instructions but I cannot understand what I am doing wrong, anyone have a tip?
helps needed
i have been trying make it work all day with no luck. mine is a uk version X1 with original rom. i followed instruction step by step and even reinstall the andriod port several times. however, still not working. always appear unknown usb device on ps3 screen. the only thing i didnt do is that flashing the SPL. is it a necessary step? what's the purpose for flashing the SPL?
actually, the module files from android and the one from psfreedom didn't have the same name... is this an issue ? witch name we have to keep ?
thx for the tuto !

[Q] Can not ADB my device?!

I have a Verizon Galaxy Tab 7 (SCH-I800) and I can not link up to it in ADB.
I have installed the Android Development Kit, Samsung drivers, and downloaded CM10.1.
I was able to contact the tablet in command prompt through heimdall and push clockworkmod recovery.
I'm following this guide:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/33743-ext...rd-only-guide/
I've removed the internal memory card.
I've modified the update.sh file and rezipped everything.
I just need to know WHY adb cannot find my device. When I type "adb devices" in the command line NOTHING shows up. I've tried reinstalling the samsung driver, reinstalling the driver that came with heimdall, and updating the samsung driver via windows update.
By the way, this device would bootloop at the verizon loading screen, could not be updated, and could not load its original android OS, therefore I cannot turn on debugging or anything like that. Alls I can do is access the "PC connection" yellow screen and the CWM bootloader I pushed with Heimdall.
By "Internal" Memory ya meant "External" Memory right? as the Internal Memory is the 16GB Flash ROM.
In any case all pedantry aside. Did you remember to check the USB Debug Setting?
I think you can find this under the Wi-Fi Settings (On the Samsung Stock ROMs), IIRC it should be near the "Samsung Kies / Media Player / USB Storage" Settings. On CM10 Builds you'll find it in the "Developer Settings" near the bottom of the List.
Pretty sure you have to check this "Flag" before you can use ADB on your Device...
In that case consider yourself bricked!
In this case I'd recommend you find the Overcome Recovery Package: HERE
Install such Driver that you may need, then fire up Odin3 v1.7
Then set your Device into Download Mode (e.g. Hold Volume Rocker down + Power till you enter the Download Mode Screen)
Pit -> gt-p1000_mr.pit
PDA -> GB_Stock_Safe_v5.tar
Phone -> modem.bin**
Most People would just use the XXJPZ (GSM modem.bin), here but, since you have a CDMA Phablet, you'll have to find and pick the correct modem.bin File that is the best match for your CDMA Device. This is also likely why your now soft-bricked.
Hopefully after all this rigamarole you'll land up on a Stock, non-branded Samsung Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM.
To which I would just download This, and that should give you Root.
Without all that tedious mucking about with ADB.
The internal chip has failed. I cannot boot the device whatsoever. I removed it as the link states. Therefore i cannot check off debug mode on the tablet. I will try your suggested method and report back
Don't look at Overcome method if you have a CDMA tab.
It will only brick your tab if it ever worked at all.
Regarding bad internal memory, there are two chips. The OneNand 512MB and the MoviNAND 16GB.
If your OneNAND is the one broken, removing the MoviNAND achieved nothing.
The bootloader, modem, (and is it /system too of stock rom?) sits on OneNAND.
If you look at the link I posted, my tablet was doing the same exact thing as pictured in the link. Saying it could not mount any files or anything. No matter what I did, it would just get to the verizon loading screen and keep flashing "verizon".
I haven't tried the "overcome" method as it didn't really seem like it'd work.
I want to ADB my device to push the new ROM to it. I've already formatted the SDcard as suggested in the guide. Since clearly no one is clicking the link and reading the guide, I'll post it:
Summary:
- Open up the device and take internal SD Card out.
- Re-assemble the device.
- Partition the external SD Card (3 partitions, two small ext4 and one big FAT32)
- Modify ICS or later ROM's update.sh to use partition 3 as external SD Card.
- Flash modded ROM via CWM (and Google Apps optional).
- Enjoy
Taking it appart:
Don't panic!, if you can use a screwdriver and build with Legos you are qualified to do this!
iFixit does a wonderful job of showcasing how to open the device up that I rather link to them than try to out-do them.
Follow their guide until step 13 then refer back to this guide. http://www.ifixit.co...Teardown/4103/1

To actually remove the Internal SD Card (that is not soldered to the board but in-fact glued to it), I recommend you take an exacto knife (or other small blade or thin screwdriver) and slide it around the edges gently; once the edges are loose, take your screwdriver under the chip and just pop it up.
Posted Image
There will be adhesive residue on the board, I recommend using some gentle solvent to remove it (I used a cloth with a little paint thinner).
Put everything back together (just follow the iFixit guide on reverse) and feel proud that you are done with the hardware mod.
Partition your external SD Card
I used three partitions (all primary, not logical) , two 500 MB ext4 and a FAT32 with the rest of the space.
Linux users will probably not require much help on deciding what software to use, but for Windows users MiniTool Partition Wizard does a good enough job.
Do note that your device will perform according to your external SD Card, so it's not a bad idea to invest in a category 10 SD Card.
Modifing the ROM:
Download your ICS / JB ROM of choice, unzip it and open update.sh
Edit both line 31 and 35 to be as bellow
SD_PART='/dev/block/mmcblk0p3'Save and zip back.
Loading the Modded ROM to the SD:
Because we messed with the SD Cards, CWM will have a bit of trouble finding the external SD Card (until we flash our ROM).
Go ahead and connect your device to your computer and ADB the following command:
adb shell "echo /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file"
That will allow you to access your SD Card from your PC, just copy your modded ROM to it.
Now, issude the following command:
adb shell mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /sdcard
This will allow you to install the .zip file from CWM, go ahead and do that.
After checking partition types, your device will reboot and appear on a countdown to find the external SD Card, go ahead and reboot it manually before it does automatically (reboot to recovery with volume up).
Flash the .zip again, this time the installation will go successfully and you will have a working device.
Optionally, flash your desired Google Apps.
Now if we could get back to my original question, does anyone know why this device will not allow me to ADB it even when it's in download mode (a.k.a volume down/power button)
I actually got my tablet to boot up this morning for about 1 minute, then it shut off for no reason and did the "verizon" flash again when restarted.

Please correct my but, what other then the modem.bin File could brick such a CDMA Device?
AFAIK as long as he picks the correct CDMA modem.bin it should work alright?
In the case that I am in error, then how does One recover such a CDMA Device then?
I can easily recover this device if I can get the ADB commands to start working. I feel like no one is reading the instructions. If you look at the link where the instructions are, there is a screenshot of his device. All of that "unable to mount" etc is what was happening to my device, hence why I removed the failed chip.
If I could get my device to show up in ADB, I wouldn't be asking this question!
By the way, I'm on an HP DV6. I tried all this in windows 8 and got nothing, so I installed a backup hard drive and put windows 7 on (this is what I'm on now) to see if that'd make a difference. Still nothing. I also tried on my old Gateway desktop but in download mode my old PC (still USB 1.1 1GHz celeron 512mb ram) the PC has no clue what the tablet is.
So I finally got this thing to boot into 2.2. Now the touch screen is unresponsive and the battery goes to 0 as soon as it's unplugged. Going to take it apart in the morning and make sure everythings connected. Might try a new battery but if this thing doesn't show more promising results soon I'm going to just say screw it and get rid of it.
Edit: Touch screen works but is flipped. If I slide my finger side to side nothing happens. If I slide it up and down i can awkwardly unlock the device. I'm guessing reload the factory image?!
the CDMA device is of different hardware. Not just the modem.
I am not technical enough to explain the difference. But I know Overcome method will brick it.
EliteEmerz: can you at least share how you get the PC to detect your device again?

If you put it into download mode it shows right up in my device list, drivers for "samsung USB device" load up. I can contact the tablet through heimdall to load bootloaders, images, etc.
For some reason I got it working pretty good last night except the touch screen issue. I reloaded the stock rom again and am playing with the SD card partitions since that's how I got it to boot up the last 2 times. I dont even care if I can load Jellybean on, I just want a working tablet.
By the way, this is SOLVED.
It will now boot up using a Stock ROM plus the zImage + recovery from clockworkmod
My touch screen is flipped (so I have to slide up and down to get it to swipe side to side) but at least it's on now. Made a new thread to address the flipped touch screen issue!!

New windows 10 update solves a lot of problems!

Just a general remark:
The new Win10 update from microsoft wich is rolling out as of today solves a lot of issues on the x98 tablets.
For example networking issues on mobile plans are solved, battery indicator fixed, no more flashing of notification shade, overall response much faster. And that's just at first glance.
This looks pretty cool!

Thanks ! it is workable when remove SD card . they could upgrade to 586 successful .
What about the orientation problem with the new update!
Orientation is all messed up again and the reg file from the drivers pack does not work any more!
No problems on both x98s. Came from original bing 8.1, upgraded to 10 and now to the new build without issues. C5j6 and c8j6.
On c8j6 cameras not working
3g, wifi, screen rotation, gps all ok
on c5j6 all is working: camera, gps, 3g, wifi, screen rotation, sd card etc.

I'm having the same issue. Had to lock the screen into the correct position. Have not found a solution. I think I will need to mess around with the registry to fix it.
I tried the update twice on my dual with no success. I had removed the SD as I'd been warned about it : the first time it shut down, maybe because the battery was low (despite of the power supply being plugged). When I rebooted it said I needed 14Gb to start the update, so I plugged a OTG USB Key and gave its path. Then it started and downloaded the update again, and failed (I don't know when). Now I'm confused about how to do this update.

You need the SD and USB drives removed for it to update. Delete stuff to make room or go the reinstall route.
I still have issues with touch screen rotation after the update...
Thank you for your help. My windows partition is almost mint, I just installed the Window 10 pro from this forum, office, Kodi. There is 3gb of free space, afaik I can't do much better. I'll check wether there is to clean files from windows update, and I'll try again without SD/USB
Did you delete the previous Windows installs?
Old versions of Windows will be left on the drive in case you want to revert back and they take up a lot of space.
You can do drive clean and use the advanced or admin only option and check how much is in the old windows file.
I don't have my tablet with me or I could give you the exact path
With a 32 Gb partition you should have close to 16 Gb free... at least... I'm sporting windows 10 November update...
It failed again and again, I give up.
Questions to those who succeeded :
- how much free space did you have?
- did you have Windows 10 normal or PRO?

my teclast is original partitioned and the windows partition is 37.5GB in size.
at the moment I have over 16GB free space, this is with libreoffice, adobe première elements, utorrent and several small tools installed. all these were also installed before the november update.
I am using windows 10 home as official upgrade from 8.1bing
Hi,
I'm wondering: On Win10 (pre1511) my x98 (c5j6) always tries to install a new graphics driver - but always fails. ALso, I can manually start this process in the device manager, same result.
What else can I do?
Best wishes

Hey, I succeeded to get it to work on air II. I had to do the following:
- change the battery mode to never turn screen / power off when plugged
- cleaned c: drive - deleted system files (including windows updates to force redownload)
- ran the update and this time it worked
The other alternative is download the Microsoft Media Creation tool, create a new USB installation media (include updates), and then do a "clean" install (reinstall windows 10). This will install windows 10 with the 1151 build.
It's worth it as it now allows us to use the SD card to install apps!
Thank you for your feedback.
As I can't get more free space, I'll wait the next W10 big update. At this time, I'll format all partitions to get more space for windows, by reducing the android one.
I tried the media creation tool but not chosing a fresh install, only update. Failed.

Teclast X80 Pro (E3E6) Dual OS (Win10/Android 5.0): Remove Windows

Hey guys. Sorry to bother you in the X98 section, but since there's no section for the X80 yet and maybe the devices have some similarities, I hope it's ok.
The tablet worked fine, but to remove any possible bloatware under Windows or Android, I reset Windows. Somehow the device must have crashed (low battery?) and now I can't boot to Windows anymore (black screen and / or boot loop). Of course I made no backup / recovery disk. Android still works fine and I still get into BIOS / UEFI.
I tried reinstalling Windows via OTG with USB stick. I got to the point where I can choose a partition. Problem is, there are lots of partitions (Android, recovery, System and so on). I located the Windows partition, formatted / deleted it and tried to reinstall Windows on this partition. Just the exact way I would do it on a PC. Somehow it won't install on this partition. The error message says something about "the partitions are not in the recommended order. Further information for installation on GPT-volumes..." (I don't know the exact English phrasing because everything is in German). I chose "continue anyway". Then I get the message that "the EFI-system is not formatted in NTFS. Format the partition to FAT32 and start install procedure again". I press ok and get back to Windows Setup (Install now).
I also tried different repair and recovery options. One time I got error code 0xC0000034. Funny thing is, Windows still seems to be there because while trying to repair / recover I tried to load some drivers and could see the hard drives and folders under Windows.
I tried downloading the original roms here: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qYEa8gc
You need a Baidu account for the larger files and after days and days I gave up to create such an account as it seems to work only with a mainland China number. There's an option for oversea mobiles but that's not working. I tried a QQ-account, but Baidu wants to link with it and you need that telephone number again. So apparently there's no way to get the original files that way.
I found some stuff here: http://www.needrom.com/download/teclast-x80-pro-dualboot/ but that's only a tutorial file in Chinese and some flash programms / drivers (also got them from Baidu - smaller files are possible to download without an account).
Long story short: I guess recovering Windows 10 is too much effort, so I want to make the tablet Android only and of course want to use the whole capacity for Android. I found a thread on reddit about removing Windows on the X98: https://www.reddit.com/r/teclast/comments/479eua/teclast_x89_how_to_remove_windows_10/
But I have no idea which partitions are definitely needed for Android and which ones I can safely delete. I found a partition map here: http://wheresmykeyboard.com/2015/08/teclast-x98-air-64gb-dual-boot-default-partition-map/ but that doesn't help me that much because they look different.
Attached you will find a photo of all the partitions on my device. I guess there are some which were created during the failed Windows installation because I had about 20 GB free space and now only 17.7 GB.
So is there anybody out there who knows if it's possible to remove Windows completely and which partitions I have to delete?
Did you ever figure this out? I just bought an X80 Pro and was thinking of doing something similar since I plan on making it an android-only tablet.

Ok, guys. Since some of you are asking how I did it, I'm going to try to explain it. It's kinda embarrassing that I don't remember the exact way but I hope it helps somehow. I used the tutorial from this site: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x80-plus-android-os-only/#login
Even though it's supposed to be for the Plus model, it also worked on the Pro. Btw, the guy Alex in that thread is me .
You can download all the files from my Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxEFqy4Rt9w_cnh3VG9ySk5sOHM
You need
- Android5.1 Upgrade Tool.rar
- X80 Pro (E3E6)- Dual OS - Android5.1-V1.04 Firmware.rar
- gpt.rar (Credit goes to Allember @techtablets-forum; hope it's ok to spread the file)
First you have to install the flash tool. Unrar the firmware and replace the gpt.bin. Then flash the firmware by checking BLANK.
Problem is that when I did all that, my Windows was already crushed and wasn't working anymore. I can't remember anymore if I erased the Windows partitions or any others beforehand. If you're not interested in Windows anymore, just flash it without changing or erasing any of the partitions. I guess by replacing the gpt-file, you do all that automatically.
I hope this somehow helps you. Feel free to ask for more help.
Have a good night!

Hi @metalaxi. Do you think its possible to like "reverse" and use the same files to remove Android instead and maintain the Windows 10? Appreciate to hear from you. Thanks!
Do we have to change the gpt before doing what you said in your PDF? Or I have just to follow your PDF?

Sorry, I can't answer that sufficent enough. As far as I know, you can just delete all partitions except the ones from Windows. Then format the unallocated space and merge it with the one from Windows. No guarantee!

It is not so hard. By mine it was only trial and error. Installiert all drivers an go in the bootloader with three Finger method. Go two levels up and go into bootloader. Then connect to PC and look in Intel flashing tool if connection is reconiced correctly. Select the downloaded file and select flash. Thats it. Device will reboot and you are ready to go.

Straightforward if you can obtain a USB stick capable of storing over 7GB (some 8GB sticks may not); USB hub (ideally a powered hub); USB keyboard; OTG cable.
1) Obtain the Windows files of the correct firmware. The procedure outlined here is for E6E9 firmware, but other firmware will be similar. Download the circa 6.5GB E6E9 firmware Windows files from https://yadi.sk/d/XEvRsoiD3Q4vKX or https://mega.nz/#F!I0AXGR5C!YiNFkZL9DIvzepH28qAjEQ (or from appropriate source for your firmware version).
Decompress the downloads as required to obtain six folders and two files.
2) Format the stick to FAT32.
3) Name the stick WINPE (five uppercase characters).
4) Copy the previously mentioned folders and files to the USB stick.
5) Plug USB stick and USB keyboard into hub; plug hub into OTG cable; plug OTG cable into tablet whilst the tablet is off.
