Hi there, did you try to flash on an unsafe kernel? Please read the numerous posts on Safe / Unsafe kernels, then consult Chasmodo's excellent Kernel Repository.
Before flashing a ROM, I would suggest you download the Abyss 4.2 kernel (tar file), you can search and find this on XDA.
Connect your Note to Odin and flash the Abyss 4.2 tar file. This will install a safe (Gingerbread) kernel. Again there are posts on how to do this.
Enter Recovery and flash your ROM of choice.
Remember to ALWAYS flash on a safe kernel. If you are not sure, please check.
I hope this helps. Please hit THANKS if it did.

Thanks for posting you all,
I was flashing a new rom with cwm and suddently appeared an error: E: can't...
I took off the battery and put it again and reboot it again...
And so it stucked at the initial logo.
P.S: i had a cooked rom before that happened

But, what new ROM were you flashing and what were you on prior? You have to explain yourself better. Did you do a factory reset/wipe data on a PURELY STOCK ROM or did you use philz kernel or a CM9/10 variant or something else?

Sounds to me as if you flashed from an unsafe kernel. You must ALWAYS check the kernel is safe before you flash.
I would recommend you flash a safe kernel (via Recovery or Odin - there are guides on both methods). Abyss 4.2 is my personal choice.
Then, when the kernel has been flashed, reboot back to Recovery before flashing a ROM. Do not got straight to ROM flash.
These steps should help.

thanks for your help but there s still a problem... if a flash a rom with odin it stucks at factory.fs..
i did everything and at last i used the adb program and i removed the old partition like factory.fs and created new one..... after that i converted them in ext4 by going in (cwm recovery) mounts and storage and check format /data and format /system...
after that i installed the cm 9 Nightlies and the phone worked again =D
so...after that.... i installed odin mobile pro and Odin Flash Kernel for GT-N7000 ...then i downloaded a stock rom ics (N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_DBT) and i flashed it with odin mobiel pro =)
everything was working fine until it stopped at installing or updating (i don't know) the new applications like kies,Smemo ecc.....
and now i don't know what to do...
Can you help me please? i don't want to throw away a galaxy note......

Flash back to cm base. If you have damaged emmc its likely you won't be able to run stock roms anymore because of the damaged space. ie. Stock rom 600-800mb, cm based 150mb

He is saying you can use any CM based ROM. Crash and such are still based on stock Samsung and pretty big in size. Maybe try something like SlimBean.

[Q] How can i install custom ICS roms on my N7000? I tried Everything !!

Hey Guys If anyone can help i would Greatly Appreciate it !!! I cant seem to install any ICS custom Roms. I came from a Ginger Bread rooted stock rom. I used Odin to flash my N7000 to ICS 4.0.3 stock ( Baseband XXLPT-Build #XXPLY) got it rooted and now using Kernel Franco#5. I tried installing Kingdroid.V4 or RocketRom.V7 ICS roms by using Abyss Kernel4.2 at CWM. I followed every step on their Forums but for some reason at installing the rom, the flashing of installing it only took 15-20 seconds installing the rom and my phone states it "Completed" the install, once i restart the phone it stays on the "Samsung Note N700 Logo" what am i doing wrong ?? Can anyone help ?
This worked for me. From the stock ICS LQ2 , i flash CWM.zip + SU... .zip to get root, then flash a safe kernel, afterwards, I flashed the custom rom from CWM and worked for me. As long as the "safe ics kernel" has mmc_cap disabled, as it is said in the OP, than i just went for it , so all is good now without any flashing abyss... Hope this helps, or gives you a boost.
Cheers.
Check the videos in my sig....you should get the answers fir everything :good:

You have to installed them over a Stock Rooted GB rom...not ICS...

Also, remember the issues around flashing with ICS ROMS especially if running the LPY kernel. The best guide I have found on how to do this is the one from the Rocket ROM team. Have pasted a link to the thread (scroll to the bottom of the page for process).

U can try flash cwm.zip..then straight flashing abyss (do not reboot to recovery after flash cwm.zip)..restart to system..when stuck in samsung logo press volume down+home button+power button to enter recovery..do full wipe and then flash rom. Reboot to system. Hope it works.

Thanks for the help but i tried that method and its still not installing the ics rom correctly...No one knows if this is possible to flash through odin ?
I face this problem before.. the GT-N7000 will just stay on n not go off for long long time
what i did.. when i see that screen stuck n i confirm it is stuck.. then i press vol up+power+home to reboot into recovery....
when rebooted u will see abssy 4.2 is load up.. from there you install rom n then reboot system..
it should work

I tried that method too but no luck. It installs but only took 15 seconds and it stated it was done installing, once rebooted it stood on the logo again. I have no clue as to why its not installing these ICS roms correctly.....
Litening rom does come with .tar.md5 format, maybe you can try flashing that wih PC Odin since you're comfortable with it. Link www.liteningrom.com.
1. Download the file .rar into your PC and unzip until you get .tar.md5
2. Flash using PC Odin. It will NOT trigger yellow triangle (I've tested it)
3. Your phone will reboot to STOCK recovery. Just select reboot system and WAIT. Kinda long...but just wait until it's done.
4. You can proceed to flash kernel with custom recovery by using Mobile Odin, e.g. speedmod, etc

Thanks kopitalk for the info. It worked like a charm through odin. I would of liked some of the Samsung galaxy S3 modifications on this rom but at least it worked like a charm with that Md5 File. Thanks button hit !! and thanks for the tip Thai Damen, Going back to ginger bread and starting from scratch is too much to do altogether lol

Dude before you brick your phone.. Go download notecore kernel and flash it via pc odin... After that you will see a yellow triangle on the boot screen.. Do not worry about it for now..
Then in the boot screen press volume up+home+power once in CWM wipe data and reboot
Once booted in Android download triangle away app and install it then follow steps to remove the yellow triangle
After that download any desired rom.. As you are gonna be in a safe kernel (yes notecore its a safe kernel) follow all the developer's steps to install the desired rom
It will basically be put the rom in the internal sd, boot to cwm (power+volume up+home) wipe data /wipe cache, choose zip from internal sd and flash the rom
REMEMBER YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS FROM A SAFE KERNEL..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I can see, you have some sort of corruption in your emmc or some other partition. If i were you, to be on the safe side i would have taken all the trouble to start again from scratch. Flashing a GB rom with Odin with a .pit file and re-partitioning enabled should wipe your note clean (dont worry no brick with pc odin) . Then flash a "safe" ics kernel either by pc odin (safer and you can remove the triangle and custom flash count by triangle away app) or by cwm.zip (use only once while flashing kernel). Then choose the custom ics rom that you want to install and flash it from the new kernel recovery (no need for abyss kernel etc) with full wipe (data, cache, dalvik). Also if you face problems go through this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732903
P.S. - I highly recommend starting from scratch by re-partitioning via Odin with correct pit file.
Press the thanks button if helped.

[Q] What`s the correct kernel to my device??

Hi guys. I have a I9000 and i want to install the CyanogenMod 9 on it. I`ve Already rooted my phone using the Unlock Root. However, I can`t go to the Clockworkmod recovery to install customs rooms. I tried to flash the CWM recovery using the Rom Manager app, but when i was installing, an error happened. I figured out that the problem is my kernel that is not compatible with the CWM. I know that i have to flash a compatible kernel using Odin, but which kernel should i flash??? My device is a Galaxy S I9000, 2.3.5 android, and 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 kernel. Already rooted. Please someone could help me??
Thank you so much
Don't use rom manager, use Odin to flash, CWM is bundled with rooted kernel (CF-root, Semaphore)

Hi, I have the same error problem, cf root was not bundled with my own root package. I flashed to gingerbread 2.3.6 xwjw1, I also tried rom manager to flash recovery and it was successful, but when I rebooted to recovery to backup my current rom it bootes to the android (3e) recovery. As I've discovered it seems rom manager is not compatible with the xwjw1 series. How do I get the correct cf root for xwjw1? Believe me I have tried google and am scared of the things I see since "jw1" is not behind any of the cf root packages I see. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On xwjw1 you can Odin flash as PDA Semaphore 250 tar kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14481782
Untick re-partition before flashing.
After reboot you may need to install Superuser from Play Store.
That will give you root, CWM, gingerbread ready for CM9.1

Use Odin to flash (put .tar in PDA and uncheck repartition). You can flash Semaphore JVT 1.8.0 or CF-Root v4.3

Thanks Sunny men, but OT's advice worked, I can now boot to semaphore recovery and wipe etc.
Question though, if I now flash cm9.1 rom, will I be able to boot to recovery without the holding any button combinations. What I mean is can I boot to recovery from the shutdown menu or do I need an app for it?
Also is cm9.1 the best rom for my phone? any thots guys? Thanks again.

Yes, in CM 9.1 you can boot directly to recovery from the shutdown menu. CM 9.1 is very stable and fast, so try it. And when you flash CM9 for the first time, your galaxy will go into a bootloop. Then remove the battery, put it in, go to recovery with 3-button configuration and flash it again.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help. I have flashed CM 9.1 successfully.
Everything works OK for now.
Also flashed gapps, CM 9.1 seems to be a great ROM.
I have a question though, the gapps I flashed seems to have only a few Google apps, play store and Google talk. The file size was 49mb so is that all that's in gapps or is there a hidden mode or something.
Also, sin007 I can't find any reboot to recovery from the shutdown menu, though I flashed a stable version of CM 9.1 and not a "nighty version". Could that be the reason? But no biggie, CM 9.1 comes with rom manager.
Finally I wouldn't mind any tips you guys have on making the most out of the ROM.
Thanks and all the best.
Shutdown menu - Reboot - Recovery
OK?
There is an APP on google play, sgs kernel flash, it is easier and faster than Odin. And works perfectly. I've flash the speedmod kernel and finally upgrade to cyanogenmod 9.1.
Anyone knows if this APP works on galaxy s2 (i9100)?

Hey there,
Did you flash an ICS/JB rom first before trying to return to stock?
If you did, no worries, it can be easily fixed
I think what you're missing is a file called dbsdata.rfs.tar (I'm not quite sure where to find a link, will update if I see it)
Pretty much the data partition in ICS onwards is different to that of GB, and so therefore it'll cause your phone to bootloop if you have the incorrect data partition.
Download dbsdata.rfs.tar from somewhere and flash it in download mode through Odin.
Try that and please report back
(By the way, don't panic if it bootloops after installing a custom rom. Just take out the battery, go back into recovery and flash again.)

[Q] weird bug. need expert advice + solution

Today I tried to update my phone to a new custom rom.
I followed the instructions of the threads and tried to get it to work.
Of course it didn't work or else I wouldn't be here right now asking for help.
Here's the current situation.
I am able to boot into download mode + recovery mode and also boot into cwmr and install a different kernel.
I used pc odin to install it each time and it does pass and the rom (i've tried installing a gingerbread rom so that I can try everything again) does install.
the problem is that it is currently stuck in a boot loop at the "Samsung galaxy note gt-N7000" screen.
I have looked up dr.ketan's posts and tried some too.
currently i am booting abyss note kernel 42cwt touch original. (I know for sure it is a workable kernel because I've been using it this whole time.
here's what i've done. please tell me what i've done wrong and the possible ways to reverse it.
1. backed up everything
2. went into recovery
3. factory reset/cache clear
4. use pc odin to install new kernel (since I was looking into switching to another kernel anyways)
5. use pc odin again to install gingerbread rom (I do get the green light saying it did get installed
6. phone auto reboots
7. it gets stuck at the boot loop like i have mentioned above
i will try to attach a few pictures of my note as soon as I can so you can see what's going on with it.
What rom is there on the phone now ? if you boot into recovery .. what recovery do you get now ? CWM or stock ardroid 3e recovery ?

Right now it reboots to 3e recovery.
The rom that I tried to inject to it is currently a the stock gingerbread rom from dr. Ketans thread.
The rom that I had on it is the official ics rom for the hk region.
The rom that I wanted to inject to it was a custom jb rom that uses hydracore as a kernel.
Thanks!!
try installing a prerooted Gb rom or an ICS stock rom using PC odin.. if you choose ICS, after flash install a safe kernel..

yes if kies can do it then good but at this situation i dont think. its better to use PC odin for now. yes both are safe kernels

I've tried your suggestions...and it didn't seem to work out too well.
I am able to flash to different kernels and get in and out of different recovers and such, but ya...still no luck with running a rom.
Well I am not sure but I soft bricked my phone when I tried that Abyss Kernel. In my view Hydracore is safe. Philz is super safe.
Flash ICS which matches your region using Odin. If phone boots flash Philz, If not, then be ready to read a lot of stuff or get phone repaired.

the only thing i have...
Hey guys. my note seems to have cooperated and allowed me to flash a new rom and also a new kernel. Here's the catch though, now it's stuck in the samsung logo and won't boot beyond that. Any suggestions of what to do? I am continually searching on the forums to find a solution.
At least I'm happy to know it's not a brick that can't be fixed.
Thanks nokiamodeIn91 for your help so far. I really appreciate it.
which rom did you flash and which kernel? how?
He spent a lot of time helping you. Be sure to hit thanks button

I currently flashed the abyss note kernel 42 cw touch and I downloaded an old gb rom from sammobile .
Here's what I did.
1. Put my phone into download mode
2. Run as admin on PC Odin
3. Selected the Abyss kernel then flashed it.
4. Boot into the cmw, wiped cache then booted the phone into download mode again.
5. Then I installed the old GB Rom on to my phone and restarted it.
6. Phone starts, loads past the GT-N7000 logo and goes into the samsung boot logo.
7. Phone repeats the animation of the samsung logo a time or two then restarts on its own. This loops until the phone is completely drained. I know that the rom works because that was the rom that I used to root my phone. I definitely don't mind downloading another rom if I have to.
my current goal, if we can fix this, is to quickly just update to the official jb rom for n7000 and not play around with the rooting and such until I have even more time to learn more.
at least I know for sure my phone isn't hardbricked, I would imagine I have either missed a step or something that caused the problem.
I have read through the forum and I did come across one post talking about checking my phone's partition and such.
I got to be honest, I'm really not technically skilled enough at this point in time to dare to mess around with that type of thing yet especially with so much coding to make sense of it. (I know this is kind of dumb to say especially when I rooted my phone and screwed up this bad). More importantly, I don't even know for sure if I need to do a partition or not.
Please let me know what I did wrong and how I can fix it.
I got a question though (out of curiosity), how come there's no toolkit for the n7000 like the S3 and also the note 2???
this is the name of the old gb rom that I tried flashing.
N7000ZSKJ6_N7000OZSKJ6_N7000XXKJ6_HOME.tar
I actually have tried several other roms as well (from GB-JB, official and custom) and all of them so far has gotten to the samsung boot logo
I have read on the forums to try using Philz-cwm 6 kernel but I don't know if it'd solve my problem.
let me show you one of the threads I have read, if I dived into the wrong material let me know and I won't consider using it (or learn how to use it) for my current situation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590&highlight=samsung+logo+bootloop&page=2
like I was saying before, I really have no experience in coding so all the things that really made near no sense to me. I understand the basic concept of what its trying to do it's just seems like a very unsafe method for me to try especially when I lack the necessary knowledge in this area of expertise.
did you flash the GB rom using the standard PIT file ?
also you could try with the 5 file flashing method from this thread

Hello..
Why are you only wiping cache.
You should have done a factory reset on that step.

You should try to put your Note in download mode and flash a stock rom with Odin.
You must flash the PIT file to repartition your phone's storage, chose the right one (16 or 32 Gb).
I am almost sure that your phone is soft bricked and it is recoverable.
If it don't work, thant mean that your have bad blocks in your phone's storage. Have you wiped your note while under ICS android ?
what rom were you on? if JB, try a factory reset.

You shouldn't be doing a reset on ICS stock at all.. Install Philz kernel for ICS and wipe data and cache.. When flashing a stock rom using odin, is it a success?

I have successfully flashed rom on my phone which is : N7000ZSLPF_N7000OZSLPF_OZS
My phone is now out of bootloop but now I face a different issue that I cant get my sim card work, it gives no signal and I noticed one more thing that IMEI of my phone is blank.
I went into recovery mode and it is still showing that efs error as it was showing before...
Any suggestion what should I try to fix this ?
So you never installed any rom or a custom kernel?

Look for a file on your storage named efs.autobackup.img. If nothing like that, check on this site http://www.cvxcvx.pl/en/podstrona-0/naprawa-efs-w-i9100-n7000/ for some instructions. Read carefully and proceed.

Thanks for your help so far...
I currently have an imei but it is some random number starting with "004999" and I do get signals but cant make a call .. Do you know if there is some hope for me or not .. and what else I can try.
This is the developer imei. You may be able to make calls of you try a GB rom. Or there is one rom by ThaiDai which had some work around built into it. I don't know which one.
Else the site I mentioned earlier has contact info of cvxcvx. He can fix your phone remotely but by charging about 10 euros.
Need help for a bricked N7000
Hi guys,Im a complete newbie to the whole custom rom scenario. Yet, after being fed up of touchwiz on my N7000 i decided i wanted to taste some KitKat on my phone. After seeing many videos with positive reviews I thought it would be a rather easy process. But somehow I seem to have made a mistake and now my phone is stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 logo. I cant get into recovery mode as suggested on most places. As of now I only have access to the download mode but dont know what to do with it.
Here's what I tried doing :
1) I was on stock OS, and these are my specifics : Galaxy Note N-7000 running JB 4.1.2
Baseband version : N7000DDLS6
Kernel version: 3.3.31-906407
BUild number:JZO54K.N7000DDLSC
2) As I was following the procedure from Omnirom's official website, I first rooted my phone using Framaroot's single click root app. This gave me SuperSU app.
3) Then I tried installing TWRP recovery (recommended by Omni) but they dont support the N7000. I read a few other tutorials where it was stated the CWM recovery and that too Philz CWM recovery is the best to go with. Apparently it is just stock kernel with CWM recovery. Since the latest one(philz_touch_6.07.9-n7000) was not being installed, I installed the one before that which worked (PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2-signed).
4) I even installed the ROM Manager as per the tutorial. However, uptil now I could access recovery mode ( Vol UP+Home+Power) and i saw the touch enabled philz recovery mode once. Then i did system reboot.
5)After reboot, this is where I did a mistake in my opinion. I opened ROM Manger and clicked on "open in recovery mode" option. Since then the phone is stuck on the Galaxy Note N7000 logo. Please help me revive the phone. Thanks in advance. Again, Im doing this for the first time and most terms are new to me. So please explain the procedure as other tutorials are not very clear.
You missed on reading the most important instructions.
Rom manager will not work with note. Recovery is built into the kernel on note and not as a separate partition.
Try harder to get into recovery mode. If you still can't, get the ddlsc Philz kernel tar version. Flash it using Odin. Then power off the device and boot into recovery. Then flash raw kernel. Reboot recovery. Flash omni and other required zips.

How do I do i install the kernel using ODIN? I can only access download mode and nothing else. I cant access recovery mode. Please help.
PhilZ kernel has two versions, zip and tar. Use the tar version to flash via odin.
