Being tired for waiting of an official ICS release by LG and in Future I'll never ever buy LG phones and neither suggest anyone to buy. I m going to buy Galaxy SII

Hmm, there were few threads you could adjust your dissapointment. And if you just want official then you were never had to root your mobile. There are good JB ROMs in development thread (yet bugs but in development) and those are good hands to wait till they dont give up. BTW had you ask any 1 here befor buying OB ? So why telling us about selling. Its not ebay or amazon.

Why does everybody find the SII good It is honestly not that good!! It's screen is oversaturated, to the point when your eyes can't stand colours anymore, and you would prefer to see in black n white
Well the official release will definitely come SOON, but we just don't know when... probably end on October npw. I would recommend you to wait for the official ICS and try it and decide whether you really want to change rom...
If so, I would definitely recommend you to take the Samsung Galaxy Nexus... It's just way better than SII... Since it's a Nexus phone.. It will be a potential candidate to obtain AT LEAST 3 major updates...
It was released with ICS, then got Jelly Bean, and will certainly get the next android version.

lol...stop eating his head guys

Buy Google nexus if you really want a smartphone that always first to receive updates to the operating system.
Samsung galaxy nexus II, LG nexus optimus G and HTC nexus 5 is coming...

those are rumours but still might be coming out
i'd suggest wait one month more, prices will fall

ICS and the I9000

We already have buttons ...Does this mean ICS roms will have four buttons ?
Maybe next time in Q & A section ?
Obviously there will be an option to hide the onscreen buttons.
Well lets think about all this when it is actually released. And I am pretty sure that Samsung and google have through about these things.
hit thankxx if i helped. sent from my mind through telepathy (ya its possible)!

Way not? Based on what?
Doubt that samsung will release ICS for sgs, we got 2.2 and 2.3, i think thats that for this phone.
Only based on my personal opinion I'm not sure if Samsung has a commercial interest in supporting Sgs 1 when they have the sgs2 now, plus 512mb is maybe too small for ICS ? Yeah I know Nexus S will have it, but without Touch Wizz... I hope I'm wrong .

It will be on S1 as long as will be developers for roms & themes.

Don't break my heart lol
I have a feeling that it won't come out for the I9000, too.
It will be released for the Nexus S which is quite similar to the I9000 but they won't release it for us.
No doubt we'll see people raging on samsung for not coming out with ICS for I9000, while ignoring that it's unlikely any phone from mid-2010 will get it.
How many raging "never again samsung"s did we see over 2.3, with many pretending HTC is so much better when SGS actually got it before Desire that came out about the same time. Grass is always greener...

I agree with you, but its just stupid that one year old phone is already abandonware, competition (khm Apple) suports their phones atleast two years with major updates, while we get 500 euros (not subsidized) old bricks after one year.

I'd happy to take your bricks, after 1 year.
To be fair, the phone first release in June 2010, and now over one year later, Samsung still update the phone (JVT just leaked ?), and even if they doesn't support, you can still install many custom ROM or AOSP ROM

Sorry, how can you say that? Your phone doesn't suddenly stop working just because you don't get the latest update of Android. I still have an old Ericsson T68 which hasn't had an update in years but still works
I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that new Android phones will be supported a minimum of 18 months with software upgrades. Although that may not mean anything for our Galaxy S

The Nexus S will most likely have the ICS update. The Galaxy S has similar hardware to the Nexus S, so even if it is not officially released for the Galaxy S, someone will be able to port it.

Samsung holding back on note?

just wondering could samsung be holding back the ICS for note, propably it would at this time atleast be "leak" ready..
could the only reason be the upcoming state release
I dont think they will release it in the states with the ginger..
and the state release is 19 february..
and then i was wondering if any devs read this, isnt it possible to use the sgs2 drivers to build cm9 for NOTE.. sorry if that is a stupid question just seems to me that they don`t differ that much.. only the screensize of course..
well I think it ain't as simple as you think, for one there's the S-pen that needs to be addressed, hence an extra added treatment for the note.

Let's just wait and hope our version of ICS is wee bit more polished than S2's version.
There are 3 different source codes for At&t Gnotes on Samsung's web. Anybody has an idea why?

My guess is they were waiting on the massive USA market to open up, then they can capitalise on the initial marketing push and community buzz and them a few months after release ICS and give the already buzzing market an extra jolt with a seemingly rapid OS update.

Personally I'm quite willing to use an initial release without S-pen and get that functionality later. That would still provide 95%+ of the functionality. The rest of the hardware is identical to the gs2, so it shouldn't be that difficult.

Not really. The camera module on the note is different than S2. Note has a barometer while the S2 does not.

Lg nexus 4 is it a true beast

When lg saw its flagship optimus is not doing good they put the boards on the redesigned nexus 4.
The on screen keys made the display even more narrow.
No memory card
No replaceable battery with a small battery
No OTG usb support
Is google blind to give the nexus franchise to lg or are they too scared of samsung???

Hahaha well in the next motorola X google put an sd card and made u all a fool by selling u the old crapy LG thing in the name of nexus.
Think with a cool mind. Do we really needed the jelly bean. What difference is there b/w a vanilla ics and vanilla JB. just some butter smooth thing. Which they coukd have tweaked on the ics with a minor update.
You people who are buying nexus in the name of googles fast updates will learn soon that its just a gimmick. Now talk about other vendors
Like htc, samsung and sony, atleast they put some added features on their devices which are mire useful than the stripped android by google and soon this new flavor craze will be over.
Let the motorola X come after 2 months and then u people will feel cheated. I agree they have a low price tag but just to sell the crap LG has made. Thats why soon people will move to windows or bb10.
Android is just popular among geeks because of xda and flashable rom. But for professionals who must keep their phone in order for day to day activity and those who actually make up the majority. Its charm is almost over.

Don't quote me on this, but won't the Motorola X be 2x as expensive? I love this device because it was so cheap to buy, yet has the performance that just blows away your Note and most other phones on the market. Now, go back to your GNote forums please.

This Device is just a beast. My girlfriend owns the SGS3 and I have to say "Hell yeah!" the colours are awesome, the Samsung stuff looks funny and so on.. But for daily use I prefer the N4. Its smoother and there are not tons of features which I just dont need. If I miss a feature, then I can say, I got a Nexus. I flash it. I just like Android, also for business tasks.

Bull****. My nexus 4 is completely stock and I have no intention of ever rooting it. Runs like a dream. You're just p*ssed off that your sh*tty Galaxy Note doesn't have official JB yet. You are probably also annoyed that your stupid Note had the defective eMMC chip which destroyed the phone when you tried to load up some sh*tty hacky ICS rom with a broken hacky HWComp.
Anyway have fun waiting til March aka December in Samsung's calendar for another buggy 4.2.1 leak. Have fun with bindowsphone and RimjobBB10.
And get a job so you can buy a new phone and not have to walk around pretending your broken Note is actually working.

[Opinion] nexus 4 vs S4

the nexus 4 is a great device, and im sure the Galaxy S4 will be nice also.
I realize this is a Nexus 4 forum, but my question is this; is the s4 a worthy upgrade from the nexus 4?
please shout off below, and I will give thanks to those who deserve it.
and there is a poll up top
curtis
------------------------
I totally forgot about the HTC one XD
that device is also pretty slick (maybe) so also give opinions on that phone too maybe?
thanks!
curtis
By the time S4 becomes available the N4 will be over 6months+ old; this is a long time in phone tech these days.
For me the performance improvement isn't enough considering the time gap; just wait another few months for the real next gen.
Just ask yourself one question. Can you live without timely updates? Also, cyanogenmod devs are not going to be buying the s4. If I can find the source I will post it.

Agreed it's not worth it at all, I had the S3 and I am never going back to plastic. The only thing I would get is the One, and that's if it gets S-OFFed. Honestly, I am 100% happy with this phone, I'll wait for the next nexus before I even consider anything else.

Honestly I my self am not impressed with the new changes to the s4(meaning most of the "new" features could have been a software update on the s3). I've owned the entire galaxy line accept the note family and just switched to a nexus 4. Samsungs got a lot of bug issue within there phones as well as hardware issues Samsung has really began to become the iPhone of the android world honestly I would wait to see what Google has in the works in there upcoming press conference before making any decisions then you have the three to choose from being the HTC one s4 and maybe a Nexus 5. Coming from a previous Samsung user and the experience I've had with there products I would not go back and for me personally as well nothing beats stock android and always getting an update weather your phone is 2 years old or 2 months old. Well that's my 2 cents take it or leave it and have a blessed day.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Samsung needs to stop trying to re-invent the wheel. They are are adding too much crap to the phones in the form of Samsung made social media crap, media players and other proprietary software.
If they don't add clean simple features then people will lose interest. When I bought my S3 I was fumbling around trying to find out how most of the new features worked, only to find it cumbersome and counter-intuitive. What good are features if you never use them?

[Q] Anyone considered getting an LG L9?

Been looking into this phone and it seems like it has some pretty impressive specs for the price. Also comes with ICS with a possible Jelly Bean update on the way. Have any of you looked into buying one? It doesn't have the most impressive development right now but with ICS and a dual core processor you might not need a custom rom if you just use stock apps such as Nova launcher. I have heard it is also really fast. Thoughts?

I would say no, you can get root but boot loader is locked and it looks like that it will never be unlocked, plus few/any kernel sources. Never trust they will bring jb. So wait for moto x phone I hear that's gonna be 200 and that much better of a deal. If you choose to get the l9 go in expecting to run the same software for the next 2 years. Not appetizing IMO

Yeah, I agree. X phone is supposed to similar to the Nexus 4 in terms of bang for buck and is also supposedly able to be customized to your liking similar to computers.
No development support on XDA means I won't buy the phone, period. I did some checking a month ago and there are no custom ROMs here or anything else. Guess I've been spoiled by the devs we have for this phone.
Yeah think I decided to wait until the X phone or until I find a cheap GS2 I can pick up or something.
I considered this one, but decided against it. The lack of custom development and having to cut down or activate a new SIM were the main reasons. I think my next one will be a Nexus phone of some type.

If you look in the original android development forum they have a almost fully working cm10.1 and cm9 for the U.S. T-Mobile version. Only bug is that 1080p video recording doesn't work.

Only CM10.1 (and it is a mostly functional, with active development) ROM. That CM9 post is a fake. Anyway, the point is, there is some development with that phone.
Also I brought an L9 a couple months back, before TMO goes contract-less as a PREPAID, which is cheaper than it is now. :highfive:

I would say no, you can get root but boot loader is locked and it looks like that it will never be unlocked, plus few/any kernel sources. Never trust they will bring jb. So wait for moto x phone I hear that's gonna be 200 and that much better of a deal. If you choose to get the l9 go in expecting to run the same software for the next 2 years. Not appetizing IMO

The boot load can already be unlocked:

Please do some basic research before posting anything here. If you don't like this phone, it's good to express your idea. But please base your argument on facts, not things you assume is true.

No need to be rude man. I did research because I too was planning to buy the phone. That information was apparently old. I will go waste my time just to find the thread for you. I am ecstatic it got unlocked but please relax. Have a good day
Edit: not the link but same message here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35532010
EDIT: this thread is partially why I said what I did.

No problem. It is still difficult to unlock the bootloader for L9, as it is a lengthy process. But it is possible, and people have been (after unlock the bootloader) make CM10.1 working on that phone. So in conclusion, I think we can say L9 is not XDA friendly, but still can be made to use custom ROMs. And things looks good as more people are coming to this phone and find new ways to customize it.
I remember when this phone came out a year ago, there really wasnt much development for the phone. Mostly just modded stock roms thanks to jocala. When I bought this phone as a backup/mp3 player I was utterly surprised at how much it has grown. The exhibit has almost just as much roms as the gs3/N2 minus the 4.1 touchwiz roms the exhibit has it all...
Point is that who knows the fact that this phone is cheap it may pick up

How does everyone say it may get an official jelly bean Rom? It started rolling out in some European countries few weeks ago.

The nexus 4 is around $360 shipped with tax. The L9 is $189.99 shipped from Amazon. That's $170 difference.

I just wish I could spend $360 on a phone and not miss it! Anyway as hard as it is to believe the Exhibit is running so good right now thanks to Exit_Only and Team Insomnia that a new phone won't be necessary for a while. Least for me. Ironic that it survived this long as I nearly got ready to smash it so many times in frustration over the last year. We've come a LONG way from the days of the Xquizit and CM9 ROMs.
Yeah i got my GSII an ain't looked bakc :thumbup:

It just got the Jelly Bean update. Might have to consider it even more.

I saw this earlier today and it looks inviting, but I don't want to spend the money..lol. I'll just wait it out until next summer and see what they have then. Until then, this phone is more than enough with these awesome devs.
i have one
i actually upgraded to the lg l9. I'm on here tonight working on my hunny's exhibit.
i like it. developement is coming along. a bit slow, but it's a new device. it's really quite fast after some tweaks. any questions, just PM me. i'll be happy to answer.

How's the camera and screen dpi? I like taking photos with my phone but have heard the camera isn't the best on the L9. I am considering either purchasing an L9, picking up a used Blaze 4G, or waiting till they clear inventory of the 8gb N4. The blaze is nice but I like the screen size of the L9.
