HD videos lagging on CM10 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

whenever i play HD videos specially mkv file 720p, the video playback lagging. but when i play lower resolution videos, the playback is smooth.
I use CM10 rom, and MX player . how can i fix this lag?

I think it's because of the screen resolution. Remember, your screen is only 480x800 and the minimum resolution to play HD video is 1280x720.

The problem lies within your original intentions.
I am assuming MX Player is running the video codec through a software decoder (SW) so you shouldn't be expecting considerable performance, especially when you are pushing the device past its intended playback capabilities.

Nah its the kodecks. Stock could play 720p vids smooth because it has samsung codecks,CM10 has not. They are somehow registered by samsung and belongs to stock roms. I read about this long time ago when I flashed CM7. For 720p videos i suggest you to use any good 3rd developer media app such as any other than mx player. Sw decoding will never be as good as hw but samsung got the hw drivers so we are in problem
P.S. Remember to download the codeks for ARMv7 for mx player.

720p videos

Hello,
Will be possible for samsung ace to play 720p videos?
Thanks
NO....! Hardware problem... Software cant make a miracle...
MoboPlayer
Try downloading MoboPlayer and then then MOBOPlayer codec for ARM V6VFP. It plays almost all videos. Try it, its too good.
Soft decoding is really slow and drains a lot. Don't really need the 720p anyways this is not a high end phone

yes, maybe some app will play 720p using software decoder, but it'll lags like crazy. so theres no point on trying to play it on underpowered device like ace, its unwatchable.
I play 720p video with oc-ed 903mhz on qqplayer, its still laggy

Earlier when i tested ....the sd card booster was set at 128kb
Then i changed over to value 2038 and still theres lag while playing videos.
I again mention..these are .flv type 320p videos.
thnk u.
Mx is the best u will get. Playing vids at high Res like 720 is hit or miss so guys please lay of it this. Were all experienced enough to know it struggles to play. This post is old enough to say this. I myself have tried all video playing apps and have gone back to Mx. I stream vidoes fine in normal Res so why the need for 720. If u want to play 720 get a top spec phone from the shop.

p1000 android 10.1 (4.2.1) no HW video decoding???

None of you have the same problem? I have tried with stock player and with MX Player, with and without arm v7 codecs, but no way to play in hardware mode hd video (.mp4 1920x1080 h.264). I'm using the HumberOS build 20121226. Only one member seems to have the same problem see post n. 139 in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
It is still in experimental stage.
Don't you know that in you select to try the rom?
Just wait till it develops more.
Meanwhile you can use cm10.

Sure, I know it
..but only one guy has reported this issue in the specific thread and no answer..no feedback to him...so, for the developers, I think it's usefull to have some confirms
oh, did you read Alroger's post #3 in that thread about how to report bug?
I'm using CM9, because CM10 for P1000 doesn't have HW video decoding. CM9 have HW for MKV files, but for AVI files not. Galaxy Tab is slow device. I can't play 720p MKV 60FPS at any circumstances (Android 2.3.6 - Integrated Player, MX Player, BSPlayer. CM9 - MX PLayer, BSPlayer), though 720p MKV 60FPS is looking awesome on Tegra 3 devices (Optimus 4X HD). I think it's time for me to put Galaxy Tab away in old devices box and use only Nexus 7.

[Q] MX Player 720P Decoder changing from HW/HW+ to SW midway

Already have the neon decoder installed, the problem I keep running into is that a 720p video will play beautifully with HW or HW+ when I open a new video. But if I do something like fast forward/backward, turning on the subtitle during the play, the player seems to reset itself with the screen going black for a short moment. When it comes back, it will play the video from the very beginning again but with SW only. I will get the HW/HW+ not supported message if I choose those two decoders. Anybody knows why?
All formats or only one or two?

They are mainly mkv.

Hello. May I know how to play 480p videos on our ace WITHOUT LAG? I have read somewhere that ace can handle and play videos lower than 720p. I tried to play 480p vids on MX Player with the original and a custom codec, but it lags like hell and h/w decoding doesnt work on 480p vids
