[Q] This thread symbol - but red. - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Had the phone two days now, big step up from the SE Arc S!
Now for the question, whilst out and about today with data off my phone displayed a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it in the notification bar, opening the notifications showed nothing, clearing them made it go away for a few minutes. What does it mean? Signal related? (signal seemed fine)
Edit: Notification area displays locality when this symbol is displayed, still not sure how this is worthy of a red triangle (error) symbol

PS: You can also see my 10% battery (images borrowed, not created by myself). I'm not bothering to do 1% at least until we get recovery so I can work on a stock and/or source rom.

Thanks for the response. Like the second one, but red.

Problem solved! You can turn these off in Settings I believe, but personally a little emergency warning seems like a good thing

Heh, when mine pops up it just says name of suburb I'm in, with no attendant message.

[MOD] CM9 Nightly - Battery Percentage/4G Icon

Hello all, I created the following for my use but would like to share it with anyone who wants to use it. What this mod does is remove the battery image from the Percentage option in CM Settings which leaves you with just a numeric value. However, I did edit the charging animation to still include the Bolt icon, without the battery. As it stands, I beleive it looks very sleek. And for a final touch, I edited the H data icon to show 4G instead.
Instructions are simple..
1. Flash via CWM Recovery like a normal ROM and reboot.
2. Make sure in the Settings>System>Status bar>Battery status style you have the button set on "Percentage"
Here's what your status bar on the phone should look like after install:
Normal:

Doubtful, as it relies on a CM9 mod to the Status Bar.

All that means is that your data connection is switching from HSPA+ to actual 3G. I didn't edit out the 3G icon, only the H icon.

Sorry, this file hasn't been updated in awhile and the nightlies change so much so often that it probably borked your systemui.apk
Easy fix tho, just reflash the latest nightly and all will be normal.

A small idea that i'd like to see come to life

I just had a thought...it would be cool to be able to title your screens. A screen could become one big folder of apps as such.
I think it would be handy then to use the notification center to select different titles (screens).
Another idea is to use notification center to quickly access a certain folder quickly.
Not sure if these are good or bad ideas or even if they have been made. Let me know what you think...

Are you talking about titling your home screens? Maybe you could create a custom text widget and have it take up 1x4 spacing? :good:

[Q] Soft Keys don't go away

As the title says, when I'm on the lock screen, the home and back button are already visible. This is annoying, is there someone else with this problem? Maybe a solution? Everything is stock. The strange thing is, when I try to make a screen shot of it, they go away...
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
That's totally normal. The softkey bar is always present, since the softkeys are essential for operating the device.
No I mean, when your on the lock screen, that bar is supposed to be all black. Well not anymore, the back and home button already appeared. They should appear when the device is unlocked.

You're correct! I apologize. I must've mixed things up. I checked again and indeed the bar is all black on my lockscreen as well.
Stock Android 4.1.2, but I found the cause of it. Unbelievable, it was the Sony smart key app. When I installed it the problem happend. And guess what, now u deleted the app, the bar is back black. Can someone else try this to see if it is just my phone or it is the app?

I was having the same irritating issue...and also found the Smart Key app to be the culprit. It occurred on .140 as well as AT&T's .120.
After deleting Smart Key, the problem has not returned.

What does this mean?

If you look at the picture I posted, what does that dot on the top left mean? (On the notification bar) it pops up at random times and I have no idea what it is

No clue. What happens when you drag the bar down while the dot is there? I would assume it would be some app icon of some sort but honestly have no clue.
D
It is probably from an app you installed. The app may be updating, connecting to the network for some reason, or performing some other background task.
When it pops up, do you have anything odd in the home double-tap screen?
If nothing shows up in the dropdown or the recent apps screen (home double-tap), you could install a task killer to check what is running at the time.

It's a Google notification. Whenever it pops up I usually have a notification from Google now.

That's most definitely Google Now or some other Google service (music playing) . It's probably either Weather or Directions to a place for gnow. Google displays information it deems that you want to know immediately there.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Google Play Music uses a headphone icon, and weather alerts either don't show up or appear as a cloud. Same with directions-- those are usually represented by a clock or vehicle icon.

Yes you're correct they use those icons but if you are viewing media of some sort they "hide" themselves by those little dots. If you open the notification bar you'll see the service there.
For example. If I'm viewing a movie the icons turn into those dots

Yeah its Google Now. Whenever I get that, it shows me the weather from Google Now. It probably just shows that it updated

I've never seen that, ever...
usually when i see it on my it's severe weather notifications
Only shows up for me when I'm looking at an image from my Google+ feed.
It shows up for me when I have a Google now notification. Maybe it shows up for both.

It remains in your drop down, that's how you know it's connected. When it isn't you get the persistent disconnect icon in the status bar.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
not an issue, glance can tell you also if phone/watch are connected properly and tell you if they arent.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I have had it disconnect and it says Pebble connected in my drop down notification. Glance vibrated twice letting me know it wasn't connected, I pulled down the shade and it still said the Pebble was connected. The icon with the exclamation mark didn't pop up. It's random and not consistent.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
I noticed after 2.0 its usually not present, but it randomly appears. I'm not sure when that is. However, when it gets disconnected I almost always get the disconnected icon.
I'm pretty sure it is an issue with the Pebble app. Today my icon has been present almost all day. Its weird.
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I think it is part of v2. It's not bad. Because it makes more room for other icons to be displayed.
But as mentioned prior it always notifies on disconnecting etc.
