[Q]root and sim unlock - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

i want to unlock my phone so it will be sim-free,withot purchasing unlock code,is it possible?
if i unlock my bootloader it will help?
there are other possible ways ?

I believe, network unlocking will only work with an unlock code. So you have to buy one.
Unlocking the bootloader wont help in this situation.
Anyway, if you have a Droid, then your bootloader is not locked by default, but if you have a Milestone, theres a bad news, you cant unlock its bootloader.

question on unlocking and rooting

i've searched, couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. anyhow, i have a g1 and att service. i have the tmobile provided unlock code and it's unlocked. if i root and reflash with custom rom, i understand it will lock the phone again, would i be able to unlock it with the same unlock code?
Once sim unlocked it will not lock again.. the sim lock it stored outside any user flashable part of the phone.

[Q] unlock bootloader in SIM locked phone

I couldn't find anything by searching the older threads so here is my question:
Is it possible (and reasonably save) to try and unlock the bootloader in a SIM locked x8? Just to clarify: I don't want to remove the SIM lock from my phone - I'm happy with my current provider. I'm just wondering if I can unlock the bootloader while I still have a SIM lock on my phone.
All the threads about unlocking seemed to be concerned about how the phone was SIM unlocked rather than whether it was actually necessary...
Thanks a lot in advance..!
anyone please?
I just want to know if I can unlock my bootloader while I still have a SIM lock in place. Or will I brick my phone then? I don't want to remove the SIM lock. Just flash a custom kernel so I can get proper wifi tether...

Use third party tool to unlock a G973W (US/Canada) ???

I know I can't root a US/Canada version of the Galaxy S10 but would it be possible to do so using a tool like this one?
Not sure what you're asking. Are you looking to SIM unlock the device or unlock the bootloader?
There's plenty of ways to SIM unlock the phone without spending $150. As for bootloader unlocking, no. No you can't.

Bootloader unlock allowed: no

Hey,
I wanted to root my XZ1 compact, unfortunaly I realized that my bootloader is unable to be unlocked.
I am a bit confused, as I thought the unlocking is not allowed if your phone is blocked by your carrier, but this phone doesn't have a branding and has no simlock.
Are there other reasons why a bootloader unlocking isn't allowed?
I got this phone as a display model from I think it was UK, perhaps this could be why.
If someone has an idea if there could be a way to unlock, I would be very grateful, even though I know that it doesn't seem possible.
Edit: Ok I think the bootloader is still blocked by the carrier MyEE, their app is on the phone. So it's probably because of them that the phone is blocked, even though I can use other SIM cards...
If somebody knows what I could do to unblock the bootloader, please tell me.
Thank you!

Click to collapse
If the phone came from EE or any other carrier the BL will be locked, getting a code to unlock the sim won't unlock the BL, so unfortunately you're stuck with a BL locked phone.

Question No Sim unlock needed on t-mobile?

Just got this phone and I've been able to click the oem unlock without unlocking the sim. Not sure if this is different than other t-mobile devices but I'd appreciate some feedback on if other t-mobile users don't need to sim unlock before unlocking the bootloader
