[Q] Can't find S3 i9305 for sale - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

hi guys,
so im all set to pick up the s3 i9305 with 2gb ram and LTE. I'm in Dubai UAE but somehow all the malls & phone shops only seem to have the i9300 model. Now im aware the i9305 version released few weeks back but i cant seem to find any for sale... not even online!! the iphone 5 was on sale 3 days after it was available in september through grey market at mad prices... but the s3 i9305... cant find it anywhere! whats up with that? any insight??
TIA!

Google it - loads out there, even on Fleabay. You may have to import it. Presumably you have 4G in your area to be so desperate...

I saw a Samsung shop in Dubai, not sure what mall was tho, main one for sure..
If they don't I wouldn't bother as a few fakes are floating around out there.. Check it and make sure before you buy

1GB of RAM is enough, we just need it to be managed better.
Custom Roms already include some tweaks, i can run 7 apps together without closing / no lag with my current configuration (see signature).
If 4G isn't really that important to you, get a regular international version.

It's really the 2gb RAM that catches my interest, but everyone always says 1gb is enough, so I'm leaning towards that...good choice? and its not 800 dollars -.-

Trust us, either 1 gb or 2 gb you will be satisfied. I have the 1 gb version and works just smooth. Also as you see, there is better support for it than 9305.
However we still feel a bit phished by Samsung with all those different models, but as you see, most phones are 1 gigs (including iphone 5). With 2 gigs you will only waste the ram. Also, feels good to be one of those 20+ millions having this gorgeous phone, it's really feels good, because you know how much support you can get. Also 20+ millions can't be wrong

Actually, the LTE is still only a project on a piece of paper here, probably will start rolling out next year. So I'm feeling scammed a bit only because of the ram, as I paid about 800 4 months ago for my S3, now the price dropped and with the same price you can get the 2 gigs version. Nothing more and no big deal.
Btw, with my 3g I'm getting 8-9 mpbs download and around 4-6 mbps upload, which is more than enough for a mobile phone. Before yesterday, my home adsl connection was 10 mbps down and 768 kbps up and I never complained LTE still needs a better coverage, world wide coverage and maybe same frequencies in every country. Also, the lte is killing your battery much faster. Most of people still have no 4g and they started the development of the 5g lol.

LOL. Maybe a smart choice. Put those remaining $260 safely, so next year or after 2 years you can sell the S3, add those money plus a bit more and get the S4 or S5 The phones life is short in matter of updates, so is better to keep money for future releases.

I'm not referring to trade-ins (Btw, there isn't any for the S3 right now). Check the video of the 2 gigs version and compare his antutu score with mine, in the screenshot.

I like my galaxy s. It has a very simplistic and minimalist design a real classic and perfect sized screen @4".
The gs3 is much of a muchness. I.e. great hardware tech but poor design actually to me it's an evolution of galaxy nexus.

From your name I'd assume you are from/in India! Can you please tell me where did you pre-order it?
I was waiting for a 4.8 inch phone with good sound quality from Samsung(just personal preference) n of course I'll get GS III. In case any of you followed Supercurio on Twitter, it seems GSIII also has a Wolfson 1811 audio chip, which Supercurio reckons is the best for high quality mobile audio. N that is the reason why I was stuck with Galaxy S n not upgraded to S II!!
Size is very much a personal preference, but for my use n hand size the 4.8 inch will be ideal to web browsing n video!!! (How do I know that, well I have tried Note n it was too big for me, n I have also tried my roomies 4.5" GS II Skyrocket n I reckon I can go .3" bigger than that !!

I think it is a great phone but it lacks RAM so i think it will not last many android updates.
Will wait for SGS4 :-D
I will buy some used i9100 after the SGS3 will be on most markets .... I think it will be best buy - really good phone and minimal investment ... and it is way better than sgs1
Just ordered my gs3, which according to o2 UK guarantees its delivery day after release. Won't hold my breath on that though lol.

Thanks, I've been keeping an eye on the deals and trying to get my network to match the ones Ive seen. Often the best deals seem to be reserved for new customers (im currently with o2) but Ill try again tomorrow. Mobiles (which I think are owned by cpw) have a tempting deal on talkmobile 300 mins, unlimited texts, 1 gb data works out £30.71 per month but you gotta put a lotta cash upfront to buy the phone.
I may wait it out.
I would totally like to upgrate my SGS to a SGS3 but it's just too expensive!
I'll wait till the prices drop
i think il keep my galaxy s gt i9000 for another year....so long as it gets a good jellybean rom
Not too inclined to upgrade. I'm actually happy samsung didn't discard the home/touch buttons yet, i find this set of buttons perfect (the missing search one is useless anyway and i find it very practical to wake my phone from the frontal button). I'm not too thrilled about pentile but not gonna fuss about that, at least until i see it. I may yet change my mind when i see one but from the pictures i find the phone rather ugly - it's way too stretched/tall and that oval shape isn't working for me the least. That's kind of a dealbreaker if you think there are plenty of options playing in the same league showing up frequently and only more will come.
But what really breaks it for me is the fact my SGS is still plenty for just about anything i throw at it. There is little any other phone can do my SGS can't I'm referring to useful stuff, not talking about NFC no one uses yet and probably won't fly with people either. I also don't NEED my phone looking me in the eyes to not shut screen off, i can manage that much
All in all, the SGS is still a superb phone, battery lasts for the day, phone flies with the latest ICS custom roms (getting beter by the minute), boss-level audio quality, gorgeous screen with perfect size (i love reading, browse a lot and find it perfect), runs just about any game/app i throw at it (although i'm not even a phone-gamer), has a very decent camera (even without flash), brilliant bluetooth interface with my car (media streaming, loudspeaker, etc) is highly customized to my needs, i actually find it good looking AND can even place phone calls and sms's
So no, i will most likely not upgrade anything unless something completely unplanned happens.

Sticking with Cappy until SGSIII release?

Ok, so how many of us are holding on to our captivates until the SGSIII is released to the US? I'm due for an upgrade, but I'm waiting. I just hope the devs here hold out long enough until we get it!

Sgs3 was severely underwhelming..
with no external sdcard slot, and AT&T is only going with the 16gb version, and it's going to have just a dual core cpu.
I got a note a couple months back using my upgrade, with the intention of selling it and getting an sgs3, bit with those negatives, my note has the pretty much the same cpu, with more space options, and of course a nice huge screen.
TL;DR
sgs3 FTL
I am going to wait a bit to see what the dev community does to it and how the phone performs.
The cappy in my area has pretty bad signal, which I chalk up to a not strong enough internal radio. Trying various modems helped a bit but still pretty poor.
More of a hardware issue I think. My Blackberry Torch 2 gets full bars where my cappy might get 2 or 3 at best.

All SGSIII variants have an external sd card slot. AT&T is selling a 16GB one for $39 to make up for their "only selling a 16GB version" mistake.
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ----------
I've been waiting for this phone for a long freaking time. Now AT&T is the only carrier not selling 32GB...it really pisses me off. I mean, who cares about a RED phone??? Give me that other 16GB of space.
I live in a rural area with no LTE and a lot of spotty 3G coverage. Mix that with my 2GB/month cap and "living in the cloud" just isn't an option.
So my choices are (1) suck it up and deal with limited storage on AT&T where I can have the phone June 19; or (2) Wait an extra 2.5 weeks for it to hit Verizon and change carriers. The fact that Verizon will be enabling global data on their version might be the clincher for me.
Nope, sticking with my cappy till I see something worth getting. SGS3 is not it, and that's all I'll say.
Really I'm waiting for phones built for ICS, which is nothing out now nor coming in the next few months. They were all designed for GB, and it shows
-xda app, too lazy for something interesting to say-

This guy knows it. I got my Captivate off of craigslist, and I plan to do the same with SII once SIII releases.

Note advice

I'm considering getting a Galaxy Note. I have three options: original international, original ATT, or Galaxy Note 2 (whenever it comes out).
I was leaning toward an international, but ATT 3G is very weak here. LTE coverage is much stronger. I know the international Note is quite a bit better spec-wise though.
I don't want to spend over $500ish, so I'm guessing that will rule out the Note 2.
I would buy a used original, but I have reservations since the stock ROM isn't available straight from Samsung. (I'm spoiled by Nexus phones...)
Any suggestions?

Original International would be better choice
Since Note 2 will not be in your budget I think so stick with option 1 But I am going to buy Note 2 soon

That's a bit steep for me. I hear the screen is even larger than the original, right?
I'm still leaning toward original international. 3g is terrible here though...my Galaxy Nexus practically goes into airplane mode when I'm at work.

Go for note 1
For me, Samsung "somewhat cheated" on the screen of note 2.. It has a slightly less resolution with a slightly bigger screen size therefore the ppi of note 2 is lower compared to note 1.
720 x 1280 pixels, 5.5 inches (~267 ppi pixel density) = note 2
800 x 1280 pixels, 5.3 inches (~285 ppi pixel density) = note 1
I know its not obvious but I'm pretty sure that the edges of the pixels would be more noticeable if you squint your eyes hard enough.
And for me, the real world difference between these two phones is just the quadcore/dualcore CPUs.
Considering the current market, note1 would give you better bang for your buck.. besides, for me, the dualcore cpu of note1 is enough for my hard gaming and ton of multi-tab browsing. :highfive:
I think ill just hold off for note2 come next year or further down the line if they continue with note3.. for sure note3 would be a big jump compared to note1.
If you will go for note1, wait until note2 fully comes to the market.. for sure the price of note 1 will drop bigtime.. :good:

I think ill just hold off for note2 come next year or further down the line if they continue with note3.. for sure note3 would be a big jump compared to note1.
If you will go for note1, wait until note2 fully comes to the market.. for sure the price of note 1 will drop bigtime.. :good:

I noticed the pixel density as well.
I think I'd be fine with the international Note 1. I've been using a Galaxy Nexus, and it seems perfectly fast for the most part. I'd imagine the international Note is pretty quick since it's on ICS now? (It's much better spec wise compared to the Galaxy Nexus or ATT Note, right?)

If you really are not sure if the coverage in your area would give you reliable service on a Gnote 1, try looking for a friend that has one and borrow it for a few hours and give it a spin.. see if its getting reliable coverage at your place..
Im not sure how it is in the USA but here in the Philippines, we dont care about 3g/HSPA+/LTE etc etc.. unless we want to get to the internet.. We never get dropped calls and SMS as long as we got the regular carrier signal.. (is that GSM? not sure how you call it) besides, calls and SMS is the main purpose of having a phone right? LOL
When it comes to performance, IMHO, i cant compare it to an AT&T note since i dont have an idea with that.. I can only testify with my international note1. ICS performance is great! cant compare it to GB tho since i upgraded it immediately to ICS a few hours after i bought it. It lags sometimes when my torrent client is doing some hash checks.. but its no biggie..
I get average 15hrs on a full charge.. regular to heavy use of calls and sms.. when I get to the internet (browsing/downloading/wifi hotspot) i get 6 hours on a full charge..
Im on stock 4.0.4 with notecore v14.1 std in case you want to know...

Nope, I sent 20 texts and used 70 minutes last month. Data speed is critical for me.
Lol, I don't even know anyone who uses anything but iPhone. I've never even seen a Note that wasn't in a store.

Still debating whether to stick with a Note. I bought one a few weeks ago, and it seemed somewhat laggy. I was having an unrelated problem, so I returned it.
Do you think the Touchwiz update will help things? What about Jelly Bean?
I'm buying it new, so I'm comparing it to an S3 or Note 2. Still trying to decide if it's a good buy at this point. I really like the hardware build, just not sure about ICS/ Touchwiz.

I own the international note with ics 4.0.3 and I too experience significant lag. Having recently jumped ship from the iphone, the lag is noticeable and occasionally bothersome. Not just on the touch wiz but also in apps like Chrome when scrolling. In fact I can't even scroll down a forum page of this xda app without it going choppy.
I'm going to upgrade to the Note2 when it is released, as the reviews say it runs very smooth.
I think a lot of it has to do with Jelly Bean but also the quad core helps too. I think the note1 will smoothen out a bit once jelly bean comes out for it but who knows how long that will take. Surely Samsung will drag their heels on it as they won't want to lose sales of the note2, from people like me.

My note is very fast. No lag no nothing. Probably the same as the notes of other members around here that "wasted" more than a few days testing different rom and kernel combinations and trying to f8nd the perfrct one. Its like painting a masterpiece. You get a piece of empty space that can become a great thing. Thats the beauty of android in my oppinion. The Note is really a great device.

Who may consider buying an upgraded Nexus 4

Depending if thats whats announced next week. The improvements could mean bigger storage, better camera, LTE compatibility, better battery life, and of course KLP. If they keep it in the same price range I'm all in
Especially if they dont even announce the Nexus 5 release date.

If Google announces that those of us who recently bought a Nexus 4 could upgrade just by returning the one we have, then sure I'll grab the upgrade. Otherwise, I'm happy enough as it is.
Maybe, but probably not. If they do release a heavily upgraded model for the same $299 price point...google better pull an apple and give me something though, considering I just bought a n4 a couple of weeks ago.

Although I think the idea is a little far fetched. It would be welcome to upgrade since mine is less than a month old.

If I have to buy a new phone to get an update I'm going to rage, smash my nexus 4 to pieces, and buy an iphone
btw....anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't buy an iphone if apple paid me retail price to take it off their hands. I'm just making a point
If its only the 32gb and LTE spec upgrade I won't bat an eye. On average with T-Mo I'm downloading 6-10mbps. Coming from sprint where that's near their LTE speeds, I will settle with H+ and 16gb just fine!
I doubt I'll upgrade until 2014, as I plan to keep onto this phone for a while. 16GB is more than enough for me and LTE isn't in my are yet.

Same here. I use the tablet for HD content so I still have nearly 6GB free on my phone and T-Mobile's HSPA+ is, in practice, as fast as Verizon's LTE and faster than Sprint's. LTE is still half baked.
I'll hold for a redesigned phone. Im knid of secretly hoping that LG was bidding but that HTC will win making a Nexus version of the One. Although LG has been the best supporter of the Nexus program so far (outside of the shortages, which were Google's fault).

Even if they announce the "nexus 5" later this year you will still hold out? It will probably be the same price range and you could still sell the N4 for an ok amount of money.
I will only upgrade if it has a removable battery, 1080P, LTE, and 32/64GB.

I'm gonna hold out as well. As for the resale. Once the 5 is for sale I'm expecting the resale to drop by at least 30%. This device has the hardware to stay up to date for at least another year.
Wayne Tech Nexus
No real need to upgrade for me. The rumored changes are LTE, 4.3, and more storage. We already have LTE (I get 25Mbps down in an unannounced LTE city), we know 4.3 is going to hit this device shortly after its unveiling, and I'm fine with 16GB storage.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I don't really miss LTE. Sure, it's nice for downloading files quicker, but I really don't notice a difference in how fast web pages load. The only way though that I could upgrade would be if the current N4 retains some resale value.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
The only thing that would interest me is a bigger battery. I could care less about LTE. I don't need an additional radio killing my battery even faster. As for more storage? Not necessary. I don't keep a bunch of junk on my phone and only one nandroid so I regularly have between 2 and 4 GB free.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using swag
I don't like iPhone just because of that( well and iOS sucks and the market sucks and I'm not a 12 year old girl) but honestly I would be all over it if it had more storage and LTE.

The HSPA+ is not available everywhere in Chicago area. You get a lot of E or 3G. Let alone the LTE..
if itll have 32gb and better battery, im gonna upgrade. otherwise im sticking with the 'old' one, dont care about lte (hspa+ is perfectly enough) and im happy with the camera.

On the fence

So I am on the fence. I currently have the s3 and I am trying to hold out with the mindset that Sammy will release some updates in the near future that will smooth this puppy out a little more ( less dropped frames) and bring some of the software enhancements found in the s4. I have been wanting the s4 since before its release today I found what I think to be a killer deal. A girl in my area on craiglist has a new in the box s4 and she is asking 400 for it. By far the cheapest I have seen on craiglist to date. My big too is that my contract is up and I really don't want to renew it cause I am also thinking of switching providers as sprints 3g data speeds and coverage is real shotty in Vegas. What are your guys thoughts is it really worth the upgrade?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I upgraded from the s3 and while I dont think its a huge update, I totally love the screen. Its so crisp and bright. I used my mom's upgrade since she wanted my s3 but if I didnt have the option, i would of just waited til next year to upgrade
I traded my S3 into Best Buy and got $262.50 the had them price match Amazon on the S4 for $599. So I paid $385 off contract after tax. The phone is great and I still have my upgrade on July 1st still.

That's a really good idea. The other route I was thinking of going is getting the 400 dollar one of craiglist then trying to sell mine for 300 that way I am only put of pocket 100 and stiff have no contract.

If you do get that phone I would tell the person to meet you at a Sprint corporate store and activate the device while they are there. As a safety precaution of not getting a phone with a bad esn or something stolen that can't be activated.

I wouldn't. Your only improvement is the 1080p screen. You will be able to do anything with the S3 that you can do on the 4. At least until the S5 or Note 3 come out. But buy the S4 and sell it for a profit. Never waist a good deal

I just bought a s4 on craigslist for $450 un-opened and sold my s3 for $300.. so I've spent $150. And I love the upgrade! If you can get the s4 for $100 (after selling your s3) I would jump on it, you won't regret it. And yes meet at the sprint dealer, or call sprint and check the esn right there before you give them money. That's what I did.

Nuh-uh! I have ir blaster and can tell you the temperature and stuff!
But in all seriousness, I have yet to find what my n2, works s3, and hell, even my e4gt lacked over this for personal/business use.
One thing is for certain; this phone has better hardware for signal and net speed over the rest in the po-dunk town I live in.
Still excited for the n3 but I don't, overall, regret getting this.

I'd buy that S4, sell the S3 and remain off contract for the S5. You're pretty much paying contract price for the S4, and it will probably command more $$ than the S3 when the S5 is out. Seems like a no brainer to me.
And I gave my S3 to another rep to keep her contract open, have the Note 2 on my line and have it on ebay now with 17 people watching and good bidding going on. Picked up the S4 on a spare line that gets used as a dummy company phone where the Hero works just fine. So selling the Note 2 will net me close to $200, and I have the one contract open to pick up the S5 or god forbid a premium slider for the next go around. That should be "The Next Big Thing" that will most likely not happen.
The screen is a touch nicer. I like the extra screen real estate for typing, especially coming off the Note 2. The res bump is noticeable but not that dramatic. The extra horses, IR blaster and sensors are a nice bonus too.
And not that it matters, but you'll have more bragging rights around the iphone 5S crowd. I work with a bunch of iphone owners who are starting to turn on their iphones (especially the 5), but still like to raz.

The S4 is a great update compared one thing dual core version quad better display ir blaster 4.2.2 them right there only make it a major update from the S3. The thing is the list goes on and on. Anyone that thinks they are the same device just one has a better display is dead wrong and probably have never even seen a S4 in real life lol. Not saying you have not just saying in general.

I also wouldn't do it...I'm pretty sure the S3 will get updated soon and there really isn't a HUGE difference between the two phones. If it was a Galaxy S2 that would be a different story
Had E4GT.
Upgraded to S3 - Huge improvement. Can't even try to compare.
Upgraded to S4 - Huge improvement.
S3 and S4 may be look alike but there is almost nothing alike inside them.
There are huge improvments and updates on both hardware and software levels.
The list is too long to type it up.
As for service here in Las Vegas.
I'm starting to get more and more 4G signals. Speed is still not to impressive 4.5-7.5 Mb/s but this is a good start.
Apperantly sprint is building his 4G LTE network here and doing it rather fast.
To get a better idea I would suggest to try the phone in store or may be one of your friends has it.
I think ones you get a feel of it you won't think twice to switch.

I have to agree with everything here. I have had basically every Galaxy, though I started with the OG G1 on Tmobile, and I can say every upgrade is substantial in my eyes.
Like Agat said, the design is similar, but that's because Samsung is trying to establish a brand with the Galaxy series looking similar to another with small design improvements as they move a long. Personally I love how the S4 looks compared to the S3, way less rounded and flatter, more candy bar shaped you could say and it feels a lot better in hand.
But design aside, the core of the device has improved all around, way better camera, way better screen, faster processor, better battery, and plenty plenty more. It is what it is, it's an upgrade, every new phone isn't going to be completely different and etc. I love my S4 and don't regret getting it one bit. As development here on XDA as well as apps that fully utilize the power of this device come out, the upgrade will become more and more visible.
Just a BTW, what I did was sell my S3 on craigslist for 350, (I kept all the original boxing, pamphlets, headphones, etc and the phone was in mint condition as I had thrown on a dope screen protector and case on day 1) so I was able to sell it for a good price, I actually sold it to a developer that works for some mobile development company so it was pretty cool haha. But yeah, then I just used one of my family members upgrades since they could care less about their phone and switched over the device to my line.:thumbup::thumbup:

I always save the box, paperwork, and accessories. Never touch any of the accessories. Figure the more something looks like new, the more you'll get for it. And my Note 2 went for almost $450 on ebay. Good pics also help generate interest.

I take most updates since my kids and my wife are using some of my stuff.
So they don't mind to follow me half year later....
