benefits of root my gtN7000(iam a new user) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can anybody please xplain me....
what are the benefits of rooting my GTN-7000..
waiting for the replies....
thanx in advance.......

You can do all the stuffs which you cant do on unroot.like mods(call recording, power and volume key press click photo) can change user interface.increase speed of your processor.increase your ram.and much more.root means that your phone is in totally in your hand.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

You can remove the unnecessary bloatware by which your ram usage decreases, you can flash custom roms of your choice, particularly in our note we have a bug(emmc), you can get rid of it by flashing custom kernals which are safe, you can overclock or underclock your processor, you can avoid all kinds of adds by installing an app like adfree
I installed beats audio drivers which is possible only because of root
Now i have transparent accuweather widget
U can use custom boot animations.
Hit thanks if i helped
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

thanx very much........
can you please share the link on the same forum for flashing.........

Hitting thanks button is also a benefit of rooting.....hehehehe

Since you are new, I would suggest you to read this (credit goes to dr. Ketan).
Read carefully dr. Ketan thread (the link I gave you), once you are understand and confident, then you can proceed.
He mentioned everything there... All the methods of rooting, and all the files needed for rooting.
Good Luck!

and If you are on the latest ICS, you may flash Philz Kernel direct from stock recovery.
You will get root with SuperSU installed + CWM Recovery v6 direct + don't forget it's a safe kernel to do wipe data (eMMC brick bug removed).
Philz Kernel is a modded stock ROM with those 3 benefits, all credits go to him for his great work.
The easiest way to root your device.
BUT....
Find the suitable firmware you are on now at your device. Don't flash the wrong kernel.
Good Luck again!

Sounds like another case of the dreaded superbrick. You need another motherboard which if you've got warranty is free, if not, big bucks. You can repartition, but you'll lose about 3gb of space and it's likely stock roms will no longer work.

If no download mode, the they will not be able to see if it has counter or not. If it's not booting then they will not be able to see root. They will just swap motherboard and flash a stock firmware and send it back. Hopefully.

[Q] Is it safe to flash this custom ROM

Hello,
This is what I'm currently running on the attachment and I have a rooted phone with SuperSU and CWRM (Philz). I was wondering if I am able to flash this rom safely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915302
FYI: I'm a newbie so please forgive me.
If anything else is needed for me to flash this ROM please let me know.
Thanks ~~~
What kernel are you on? Did you install philz kernel? If not then first flash a safe kernel like philz or speed mod or hydracore. Then you are good to go.

No, because kernel itself is pure stock with brick bug removed only. (So it's safe) If you go into recovery and see Philz CWM then you are definitely on his SAFE kernel and SAFE recovery.

OP: the reason you are getting so many answers is because no one including you is sure if you have Philz kernel or are you on stock..
to make sure you have philz kernel.. boot into recovery (vol up+power+home).. if you see Philz CWM without having to install anything ..then you have the kernel.. if not flash a safe kernel

The reason here (and in many other threads) in getting so many answers is: some members only repeat what has been said before. It feels like these people want to raise their post counters by force - I assume they need a minimum of posts and thanks for a "recognized" in their profile.

You want to root or use custom rom?
If just to have root access, you can try with enoxy abuse 1.4. If you want to flash rom then you need to flash philz kernel and flash your desired rom. You could check up wotj chain fire's guide or Dr.ketam. They are both great contributer

What is the used of custom rom?
some custom rom can tune your phone make it faster than stock. Eg. you can overclock or underclock your processor. Change your screen default dpi to lower resolution, customize your own theme, changing your system cache files to make your phone response faster and etc....
Root access is actually administrator mode for linux and andriod.

Hey , Chill out buddy. Dagger is right, when you sign to xda you are presented the rules which you have to follow. Being a noob does not excuse him from using the search engine or going through the stickies. Forums need to be clean from flooding the same question in multiple threads. Besides, you are reading his question but not answering or guiding him....so, I guess you are not helping either.
Nobody is saying that the question is not fine, but saying that just a little research would have answered that. There is a whole thread in the development forum called How to root/unroot by Dr. Ketan's that is amanzingly thorough...it is as easy as reading that.

Cole hii, the build version determines what kernel you need to flash. As you are on Stock ICS 4.0.4 with DXLR5 build version, the Philz kernel you need to flash is this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?c2jmfqnwajw8ei1
This will give you safe kernel (to avoid brick bug), CWM recovery and Root access.
You have to flash the file this way (this video might help but is in spanish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EPWIvIoEF8):
Download the kernel signed .zip file and put it in your external sdcard
Boot in stock recovery (press home + volume up + power and keep them pressed until you see the splash screen)
In the blue recovery menu, select install update from external storage and install the kernel file
reboot and you are done
Custom roms are all different and have their own instructions on how to flash them. So the best is to read what the dev of that particular rom tell you to do. In all roms you flash you will need to do a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) and some other will require to format some partitions, that is why is so important to be on a safe kernel.
Hope it helps. :good:

[HELP] How do I Root My Note Running Android 4.1.2

Hello Everybody,
I am new here to 'Galaxy Note N7000 ' forum. I recently bought this phablet and I want to root it without bricking.
I have posted a screenshot here which shows details of my note.
After searching I have downloded this file.
"PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-4.90.8-signed.zip"
Is it ok if I flash this file using 'stock recovery 3e' ???
My note will be rooted after flashing this zip file??
Please Help...

[Edit] What if anything goes wrong, I mean bootloop or something else?
Sent from my Galaxy Note using XDA Premium
I have never faced any bootloops flashing Philz kernel.. ever. just make sure you flash a DDLSC kernel only. What i meant was check if a newer version of DDLSC is available or not as what you mentioned is old.
Once the kernel is installed, the phone will be rooted with CWM recovery.

I used 3.5 patch which I think is the last one. And safestrap 3.65
There is a new safestrap version (you can find the thread in the development section), try to install the script after upgrading safestrap (you can find the instructions there). If that's not working, let Mentor know in the patch's thread.

One more thing: have you edited the build.prop manually before installing the script? Because the script won't work in that case AFAIK.
Also have you tried on other ROM?

the patch will edit the build.prop. You followed? From the Install menu select the .zip file and install without signature verification on your Rom

Found it couple minutes ago. but still is aborded. so I guess I have to try to update safestrap? But the 3.7 is not stable yet right?
3.72 is the latest one and it contains mainly recovery related updates. I think it should work fine.
I only encountered your problem once. I wanted to install eclipse rom from Safestrap 3.65, but the rom's install script was not compatible. I had to revert to Safestrap 3.11.
