Got my Xperia T today :) - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I have been waiting for this day to spam this section by such a useless thread
I got my Xperia T today.
my first impression is great.
I liked the screen a lot.
and the phone is very responsive. I can even say that my user experience is better on Sony's ICS ROM than Samsung's JB.
I cannot see any cons now, maybe just the screen being a dust-magnet. it needs a screen protector I guess...
I feel like a noob as this is my first qualcomm phone.

Was the existing "Got an Xperia T" thread not useless enough for you to post in
It's good to see more devs moving over to the T, first Codeworkx and now yourself :good: It's still on my list of what to get next but just waiting on the next Nexus announcement as I'm in no rush. Will be good to see what kernel you come up with, shouldn't take more than a day with you being an ERD right? I'm only joking of course but it's a relatively low activity device at the mo so you may get a bit more peace and quiet then you do with the S2 and S3.
Good luck.

Sorry for being so ignorant.
And yes you are right. It will be more quiet here for me for some time.
I will close the thread and ask a mod to move the post.

Xperia X8 - Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean"

Dear Community,
I know from your guidelines that starting threads or requesting updates on certain subjects is strictly prohibited but still I feel it necessary to ask
you that exact question (even if there's a ban only moment away..) because I don't like to be kept out in the dark and would like
someone from the development team to update their daily updates and how their work is progressing so that we who are
eager enough to get started may rest in piece instead of staying awake all night long looking for updates.
Remove thread, warn or ban.. I just need an answer to all this!
/a fellow pirate
Jelly bean in my eyes is just the same thing as ICS except the title has changed it's moved up 0.1 decimal and a lot of fixes. The UI should be the same as well. I also don't see anyone going to port it anytime soon because first of all we don't have full working ICS.
Second a lot of the roms we are using today and the kernels still have them bugs. And i'm pretty sure no one will bother porting it to x8 since it's 2 years old it's dieing out and there are new phones just a tiny bit more expensive then x8 that are 10x stronger e.g.nexus s. I love sony and all but they are a company whom which likes to start new projects and never work and update their old ones. Updating your phones you manufacture makes a good company oh and good customer service which sony already has
I think you have to wait for that one, or start making it yourself, but if you dont want to, just wait... meanwhile use another rom, there are great ones at the moment, and they are a vast improvement of what eclair was in the first place...

4.2 Worst ever update?

I haven't updated and have no plans to do judging by the sheer amount of complaints on here about 4.2, i don't recall ever reading so many people complaining about an update as bad as this before and it begs the question, what were Google thinking releasing an update that was so bad with so many bugs, etc and mores to the point can anything be done to fix it?

A couple of niggles that will be ironed out when app devs catch up with the new multi user setup but some good features already working.
I agree with the others here though, I hope your posting history isn't full of pointless moaning about things you haven't even tried.

Hummm Yet again.. I think 4.2 does have some bugs.. I also think its thrown the developers into a Nightmare because of the multi user configuration. Same with apps now having to make storage location choices.. With that said its NOT Terrible.
Obviously you never used the first Version of Honeycomb.. Then the Update Update update .. that still ended you with a slow sluggish interface that Well i Will not go on . Other then to say Google was to embarrassed about it they would NOT RELEASE THE SOURCE . That was bad..
Be thankful Google always pushes the Bleeding edge of there designs.. It brings us new features and keeps our Devices fresh. The update bugs is the price for this . Thank Google.. While Telling them they have Trouble. NO reason to tell us WE Already know...
Not sure what these threads are bringing to any forum. Off TOPIC IS THE Best place for such post.. YES MY Reply here to is Uncalled for.....

Only real issue I've noticed is lag when using multiple users. New keyboard is great, everything else seems fine to me. Happy user here after deleting the extra user account I tested.

I haven't bothered with the multi user aspect and it has been fine here. I think its a given that it ain't quite ready considering it was not implemented in the review units.
One thing I noticed is that you can now say "flu shot Monday at noon" and it will finally create a calendar event. I wonder how many more commands have been added.
omg was that monday as in tomorrow or last monday.. I Can not believe i missed the flu shots again.. grrrrrrrrr .. now im doomed
4.2 seems to be working fine on my nexus 7 so far. Even ice cream sandwich had a whole bunch of more serious issues on a number of devices yet overall most people think it was a great update.
I wouldn't say 4.2 is an awesome update as I've only found a couple of changes useful to me. But I just haven't experienced anything majorly wrong with it either. Give it a month or two and I'm sure the niggles will have been fixed as I have a suspicion they could be mostly ap related.
no its a good update, jeez everyone should quit complaining about now.
Worst update ever was the one my flyer got from Gingerbread 2.3.4 to Honeycomb 3.2....
I like it and am happy Google is stepping up. PA is a fantastic ROM and they did some amazing mods. Unfortunately I have a touch of the OCD and would spend hours trying to set it up just right. I was satisfied from the get go after 4.2 was installed and didn't feel the need to adjust any tablet or phablet settings. With the exception of the usual mods CM or AOKP style. Can't wait to see what's in store for this update Dev style!
I too am happy with 4.2- can't compare it to much but it's clearly no disaster.
I myself have not had any issues with 4.2, thus I'm rather pleased

4.2 update
I am new to the nexus family. I got the nexus 7 16gb yesterday and updated it to 4.2 as soon as possible. So far so good.
I've noticed some lag but overall I like the update, astro sees duplicate storage locations but I'm sure they'll fix that. I don't have multi user enabled and am stock, not rooted.

I got my Z, what now...

I got my xperia z for 1 week now. Unlocked the bootloader, rooted the device and uninstalled almost all default apps, so far so good. The phone is fast, i like the screen, i read all kind of bad things about the viewing angles but in real life it really isn't an issue and the detail and colours are just awesome. Battery life after removing all stock crap is about 2 days with medium to high usage which is fine. So far i don't have anything to complain about.
But what now, i don't see much development going on, the xperia z development thread stays frighteningly empty. Will there be any developer support, will we get an official CM build, i really hope it will, the device has much potential!

FreeXperia already have a CM 10.1 build for the XZ. Most people don't even have there pre order received so I think you have to wait a bit before custom ROMs are available
Give it time. lol

Most pre-order sites that I've been browsing (my order included) get their stock on Feb 28, so you'll have to wait until at least then before devs start to pour in.
Many will release custom roms as the recovery is up.
I'll make a stock one soon after I get the phone. (4th of March)

[Q] Just bought this phone!

Hello there XDA!
I have just bought this phone after realising that I just can't stand the terrible piece of thing, HTC Desire Z anymore. Saw the unveiling of the S4 and wasn't too impressed and decided to just get the S3.
I haven't got the S3 yet though, will receive it sometime in the next 2-3 days.
Anyway, got a two questions here..
1) Why are there very little support for the I9305 version of the S3 on XDA compared to the I9300? (Android Development sub-forum, by the way) I was going to get the I9300 because of this but the store I went to didn't have them anymore. I really am planning to have this phone for a long time but the lack of support here worries me.
2) What is the best mod and ROM to use on the device? I will be rooting this. I'm looking for a smooth experience using the device as well as a quite decent battery life. I want to know the general opinions on here on which is the best rom.
That's all folks! Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Nexus 4 had no removable storage and the Xperia Z is a tad bit overpriced here so, S3 was the way to go. Plus the specifications on the S3 is good enough for me especially the screen size, I don't really need a 1080p screen.
Thanks anyway!
If you want a Stock ROM but optimised, go for Wanamlite.
CyanogenMOD is AOSP so you'd lose some Samsung features and the camera isn't as great.
BTW, great to see more Bruneians here on XDA!
I'm on ripper rom themed with domination. OC'ed to 1.5 with yank kernel.
Getting 5.30h on screen time heavy use.
I tried cyanogen on my normal 9300 but battery time : waaaay too weak. +lots of lag.
So don't really like it.

I would actually try most, if not all, if I could but unfortunately, internet speed is pretty terrible at times..
the second question is against the rules.
You will love the s3 lte and from my experience the best ROM for overall is pandoriam which has a lot to offer in terms of performance and customization with all the goodies from stock.
Anyways enjoy one of the best phones on the market if not the best!

I'm sorry. I've only read that a few days after I made this thread.
Anyways, currently enjoying the smooth and fluid experience with RipperROM as well as the CrossBreeder mod. I am really loving this phone so far. Huge step up from my previous phone, Desire Z.

It's not a matter of specifications, the specs are good enough. The problem is that Samsung don't support the developers by releasing the source code they need in order to properly port CyanogenMod and AOSP-based ROMs to their devices. What this means is that devices with an Exynos4 processor, such as our lovely I9305s, will never get officially stable CyanogenMod or any other AOSP-based ROMs like ParanoidAndroid or AOKP, there are just too many blanks to fill. With an Exynos4-based device you can expect to live with graphics glitches, higher than normal battery drain from modem, and no project butter support. Presuming Samsung doesn't eventually release the source (seeming more and more unlikely now that the Exynos4 isn't even their top-of-the-line processor).
Yeah, I can see how that's a problem. I think the same thing happened with Desire Z where HTC did not give out the source code for the camera or something..

Ok, so his question was against the rules, but the responses weren't necessarily. The second one didn't say what was the best, it said what the poster was using.
Factual information about a ROM is very different than pure speculation about what's the best.

The General OT Thread

Would such a thread be allowed here? Most other device forums have such a thread and it serves as a general OT thread to cut away the number of created threads. I searched briefly before starting this and did not come across anything similar.

They both have their pro`s and cons. CM is not pure AOSP either as isn`t TW as they are both heavily modified. I love the Samsung camera software which makes great pics. The CM ones are ok but in quality their less than sammy`s. The XtreStolite as i have it is 650MB as i have some TW modules flashed that i wanted. Performance is great and batterylife is very good, its about on par for performance but less batterylife on CM. Its all about preference off course but in usability/compatability TW is the winner imo.

I like the fingerprint too much. I have a need for security and like it to be quick. Its more reliable than face unlock. Plus its one of the unique features that won me over from the z2 which I very nearly got, I wish they would've used open sources. I feel like I'm having a break from CM after using it for so long, touchwiz is forgiving enough to use this time around, and I still get a taste of aosp when I use my nexus 7. Now do I flash L or not? I have a deb and L has no working data. I don't actually use a sim in it hardly it just happens to be the device I could get credit on. My problem is I have OCD and if I know something is not working it will bug the hell out of me even if I don't use it. But im dying to taste lollipop!

I'm like that too, if something doesn't work I'm bothered immensely by it, even if I don't specifically use that feature. Luckily, everything seems to work on CM. Maybe not as well as on TW, but they still work.

It works well for me after training it a few times. I notice cases with a lip require special technique to get a full swipe. A touch sensor would work better but they avoided getting sued yet again by the control freak idea stealing/patenting that is apple, so they used swipe like the atrix. I would have used that as a court weapon to exploit apples "originality". Get that finger scanner working and I will happily ditch TW

A touch sensor would work better but they avoided getting sued yet again by the control freak idea stealing/patenting that is apple, so they used swipe like the atrix. I would have used that as a court weapon to exploit apples "originality". Get that finger scanner working and I will happily ditch TW

Ah, yes. The envious suing child that is Apple. They're not innovators, they block innovation from happening.

Couldn't have said it better myself. A work mate I got into our current employer from our previous unreliable job switched from samsung s2 to Iphone 5s and now loves it. He laughs at the size of my s5. Whats most annoying is that he bases his preference on how the phone feels. Put a one m8 or galaxy alpha in his hands please
The only thing that's getting to me is the Knox flag, I know it doesn't hinder warranty in e.u etc etc, but not being able to put the phone fully back to stock is getting to me

Screw knox. I'm experiencing some reboots and even happened once before rooting. I have every intention of sending it back with a detailed letter of my usage, mods and findings to prove that my meddling is not to blame. I noticed that undervolting made it 10 times worse, perhaps my device needs higher than stock voltage?? At any rate I love this thing so much I've managed to keep in looking like new in a case. I hate cases, the only blemishes are on the battery door from fiddling with the charging cover. Expecting a slim armor tomorrow because the neo hybrids edges are too "square" making it difficult to hold, hope this case is easier to hold

I just have a standard hard rubber case, but I have an excellent scratch resistant screen protector which has so far stood the test of time and stress.
I have a some indents from the time before case but I'd say it was in new shape.
Knox will be 0x1 soon lol
