You can use it with any stock based rom. You can get the apk and .odex file from the repack's zip. Don't deodex it.It's faster leaving it that way and sometimes (rarely) opt codes get lost when deodexing.

Not without adding the lg-framework stuff that it depends on to the cm10 framework.
Firstly i tried normally deodexing and pushing to system/app, then i read what you wrote here... You are right xonar ;p
LG uses opt codes that are fast but are 'unsafe' and is only allowed in odex files. ( why V30 repack is so fast and snappy compared to cm10 )
'unsafe' meaning if it's used wrong it can have unexpected results at unexpected places.
The reference I'm using is fairly old so it might've changed.

Its basicly a .dex file outside of the apk. ( it's got a slightly different structure and allows more opt codes )

Hey! I wanted to use the LG lockscreen and keyboard apps on the Paranoidandroid JB ROM! Does this mean that I have to recompile those apps with that ROM or can just push them to the system after deodexing it?

You can't deodex those files. It loses some byte-ops.

Ok so I am trying to get friend stream to work in the new fresh rom. I got the apk from damages rom along with the widget. In cmd I successfully push the apps /system/app/ after typing in adb remount. However after I reboot the app is not there. How do I get this to work? Also was wondering how to port a system app from a darchlegend rom to work on any other rom. Any advice is welcome.

Wont work, period. It needs an .odex for both the widget and the normal .apk for it to work in the latest release.

Ok I can pull the odex file but where does that go? Or is that something created when the apk is compiled if so any good tuts for editing and recompiling?

I was kind of hoping TitaniumBackup would give me this one...
I can't find the odex...
But I read from the other Hero forum that Friendstream may require an update package.
Like that title says is anyone having issues with replacing system apps? I've tried replacing systemui via root explorer and all i get is forced closes. My next step would be to adb but for 5 plus files it seems excessive.

The ROM isn't zipaligned, so changing any system files will not work. We will have to wait for zipaligned roms

One of them looks like it's deodexed, didn't actually looked inside the zip so it might not be- (In KU5900 repack deodexing broke keyboard) which one did you try?
Just can pull it from the bin file if you want the keyboard from official.
Odexed version. But my installed rom is not odexed I think. There isn't any odex file in the app folder.
Use my upload is original from v30B with odex file.
I can't make my phone recognize any of the apk's.

I didnt understand you but odex files are part of the apk they belong to in system apps . When u deoxed a rom all its odex files are merged in their apk's but some apps crash if u deoxed them .like the lgime in v30b . Deoxeding has upside that u get more performance and control over the apps to remove them safely but it also has a downside . It somehow drains the battery

Download CameraApp.apk. Do not install, just replace
Copy to sdcard
Using rootexplorer
navigate to the root \ system \ app to rename original CameraApp.apk to CameraApp.old
past new CameraApp.apk
Open the camera in settings, the camera sound, select the tone number four (Off)
Test in v30B

Rename stock is only for backup. Tone 4 is off, no sound.
I edited all languages except for some three that failed.
What is your language?

Yes. There are two as far as I know,
n00by's repack (odexed) and Marvel v D (deodexed & zipalaigned)

Short answer: yes
Long answer: you can extract smali classes from .odex files too but better don't mess with odexed apps, apktool do it automatically for .apk files but it wont work for odexed apps becouse all the classes are in .odex file outside the apk, the deodexed apk contains all the classes in a .dex file inside the apk and that is what apktool is looking for
