[Q] Stock Clock - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

hi trying to delete some bloadware i did delete apk clock so i cant set my alarm, can some one help me with this apk or any simple alarm im on stock rom 2.6.3

Download any ROM from the development section, grab the Clock.apk from /system/app, proceed to paste it in your phone (to /system/app) using a root explorer

Yes, I have the apk file here: View attachment DeskClock.apk.
Copy it to /system/app/ and set permissions to rw-r-r.
Or, install it with System Apps Installer (by Traber Software), you need root, but you have root, or not?

View attachment DeskClock.apk
May be this will work
Instead of using any app
Do it manually
1. Download Root Explorer from Play Store
2. Then download the file from the link in the post
Its deskclock.apk
3. Go in Root Explorer
So first go to your root then system /app
(Note: Enable Mount system as R/W in Root Explorer)
4. Then copy the deskclock.apk I gave you and paste in system/app
5. SET PERMISSIONS
Long click on deskclock.apk and click on permissions
You will see three columns
Read Write Execute
You have to set them in the following way
x means you have to tick it
blank means uncheck
Read Write Execute
.....x........x.................
.....x...........................
.....x...........................
6. Click OK
Reboot
Note : in root explorer, in system/app
click on mount system as R/W
not R/O
or you will get error

Delete system/app/ADWLauncher.apk
Delete ADW stuff in dalvik-cache, or complete wipe your dalvik-cache
Push the new ADWLauncher.apk to system/app
reboot
if i wiped dalvik-cache will it affect other apps ???
and by "push"
do you mean just copy the apk and paste it in system/app ??
didnt work !!!
isnt there anyway around it by using terminal or something ?
I've done this before by just installing the newer version from the market (it actually has a different name for the installed apk), set as default, then uninstall the old version with Titanium...

Mount RW. Overwrite the file. Then select and install it. Exit and reboot. I do it all the time.

This. You'll have two versions of ADW installed at first, but just remove the old one using TB and you're set.
Try this:
Open the Terminal app and run the following commands in it:
Code:
su
remount
cp /sdcard/ADW.Launcher.apk /system/app/ADWlauncher.apk
reboot
how about setting the permissions?
This is how I did it.
0. Make a backup of your original ADWLauncher.apk
1. Download the newest ADW.Launcher from the Market
2. Using Root Explorer, mount as R/W, in /data/app, find the ADW.Launcher apk file
3. Copy and paste the file into /system/app
4. Delete old ADWLauncher.apk
5. Rename copied file to ADWLauncher
6. (If needed) Long press on file and select Permissions, change Permissions to Read: All 3; Write: User
7. Mount back to R/O and exit Root Explorer.
Enjoy.

[Q] Restore stock camera

Anyway to restore the stock camera App ?
I have moved the Camera APP from "/system/app" to sdcard and then to my pc.I changed the icon to ICS Camera icon and now when i try to install it says to replace it,i click yes and after the process finish says "app not installed".
I have the APK and the .odex file of the f***** camera, just need a way to install it.
if you picked it up from /system/app then you need to restore it in /system/app itself
backup your current working camera apk and odex [as you have]..
move modified files to /system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r-- as others then only it will work.. if it doesn't reocognise in first attempt after permissions then reboot and see if it works...
if it doesn't simply means modifications don't work --> restore

Put the Camera.apk to /system using any root file manager and then set the permission to rw-r-r. Reboot. Here is the link,
Stock Camera App
If that doesn't work, just backup the data and then reflash the stock rom using odin. Hope I Helped

[Q] Removed wrong apk from system app

Yes you can but after you do that re apply permissions and owner info.

Thanks for info but how do you do that?
Permissions and owner?
Use mount /system and then adb to device while in recovery and open shell. Then do a cd to whatever folder u want and do a chown root /../../../file. Ten using recovery fix permissions or do a chmod.

system UI stopped

i have just flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864510
now i got system UI stopped and no status bar at all, any help will be great
as I said it's better to do it manually than flashing. This way u can always make a backup and restore if messed up. use root explorer to navigate to system/app - systemui.apk and check if the permissions are set to rw-r--r--
check if there is a systemui.odex file. If yes delete it and reboot

[Q] How to install themes?

My Galaxy Note is running Classic Rom V6 ICS and I just downloaded a .zip theme pack. How do I go about?
Usually you run the pack and it installs, if it's third party, you need to extract and place into the system file.

I tried exploring the zip file and for every type of theme, there is an app folder and a framework folder filled with .apks. Does that mean I can run
the apks in any order for a chosen theme?
No. usually there are 2 folders
apps = you hve to place these apks in system/apps folder a d change permission to rw-r--r--
framework = place the *-res.apk in system/framework folder and change permission as above.
but. make sure if you replace any file, you keep a backup of that so that it something does not work, you can revert back
