Problem with samsung original pouch - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I recently ordered samsung galaxy note 2 original pouch in dark brown color and received it today. Something doesnt look right here. I ordered dark brown, the box says dark brown, receipt also says dark brown, but it very much looks like chocolote brown. How can that be? I checked more videos and photos of dark brown color online and am almost convinced that what I have received is chocolate brown.
Can someone in this forum with chocolate brown or dark brown samsung note 2 pouch look at the pictures and comment what color they think this might be?

Thanks!

Nope you're right. 'D' is the dark brown and that looks like chocolate. Was it well sealed?

I'm liking the chocolate better, but I'd be pissed if I got the wrong color too.

If i had a white GN2, i would have liked chocolate better. Mine is titanium gray, and doesnt really go with this color. In fact, there is no black or white pouch, which is something i would have preferred over any other color.

Interesting! can you share the online store's link where you bought the black one from? On mobilefun, that's all I see:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1J9LOEGSTD - Orange
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1J9LBEGSTD - Dark Blue
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1J9LCEGSTD - Chocolate Brown
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1J9LLEGSTD - Light Blue
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1E1LWECSTD - White <<-- found this one on handtec.co.uk
and then I know there is this one: (which I was hoping to get, but got the chocolate brown )
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Pouch EFC-1J9LDEGSTD - Dark Brown
Maybe you can also share the product code of black pouch so it's easier to find online.
Cheers,

Sure I can link it, but there was no product code. Didn't come with a box.
Btw, I think the white you've got there is the for the Note I, and a mistake on the website.

Thanks for the link.
You are right. That white one doesnt look like for GN2. Although the website says its for N7000/N7100.
I just ordered a black/blue pouch this morning. Actually the same shop is going to take my choco brown pouch back and replace it with black/blue. I was to order dark brown again but i asked them how would they make sure i dont get yet another choco brown in dark brown box? They had no answer, so i just ordered a totally different color to be on the safe side. I also asked them what other colors they have available and interestingly their list did include white. Anyway, Now I am just hoping that the pouch I have ordered is more black than blue. otherwise I'll just drop the pouch thing altogether and go with samsung flip case.
Will report back once I get it.
Cheers,

I just received the "navy blue". Looks black, unless you hold up to direct light & hold it at 20 degrees, then it looks a little navy bluish lol. Awesome pouch, if you put it in you pocket with keys or loose change.

I got the dark blue one which bears this code name - EFC-1J9LBEGSTD [REVIEW]
Here are the model numbers of pouches:
1) EFC-1J9LDEGSTD - dark brown
2) EFC-1J9LBEGSTD - dark blue - almost black as seen in picture above
3) EFC-1J9LLEGSTD - light brown
4) EFC-1J9LCEGSTD - light blue

alright! i was thinking to myself why do they have all these cutouts on this pouch, as if someone is going to answer a phone call without taking the phone out . so it actually is for that purpose, interesting. BTW, how do you do that? and how you end the call? and how to know who is calling? i mean, how practical is it?
the only thing I don't like about this pouch is no hole for the notification light. Once I get my new pouch, I'll google around to see if there is any DIY guide to make that hole. it's no rocket science but I really don't want to ruin the pouch while making that hole.

Looks like these pouches have popped up on eBay. Seems to be genuine Samsung products but ships from Hong Kong. Here's hoping Tmo/ATT/Verizon get accessories in soon!!

Putting a hole in is easy with the right tool.

I got a new one today and this time it's black/blue, exactly what I ordered. And it's really more black than blue so I am very happy. BUT, there is something I want to show you guys. There is a strange mark on one side of the pouch. It looks like some residue but I really cannot get it off by rubbing my finger or a lightly damp cloth. Should I send it back for another replacement?

There isn't a black one, but the dark blue is basically black but you can see a hint of Blue in the right light or in my video as the camera seems to pick it up well

Can someone who got a pouch for their phone tell me how practical they are? I mean always having to take it out so you can check your missed calls etc I always went for back case + protective film for my smartphones but since I cant find anyone that I would like I was considering the pouch. Thank you

I always used the back case with screen protector and the only reason i dont use the same with my note2 is because i dont want to add anything to its size, no matter how feather thin the case might be.
I've been using the pouch since ever my last post and i am very happy. Its not the most convenient when it comes to checking your missed calls or reply to messages and it takes some getting used to but it protects the device very well. It looks classy and when you are using note2, you are only holding the device without any extra bulk attached to it. I put it in the pouch when i know i wont be using it for sometime or when i am going out. If a call comes, its easy to slide it out of the pouch but its not a one hand task. It covers the notification light and their are a few workarounds. You could punch a hole to expose the notification light, or keep the phone slightly out of the pouch or even when the phone is fully inside, you could see the notification light from a few angles.
Samsung has released its own back case. Not sure if you have seen it. Check out EFC-1J9BBEGSTD
Hope this help,

My Nexus 7 + Plasti Dip

After seeing two threads about painting the back of the N7, I decided I wanted to try some Plasti-Dip on my N7.
The Plasti-Dip came today, and I already had a green spraypaint I wanted to use on top of it (MTN Alien Mescalito Green).
So I decided I would test it out on cardboard first:

}
From left to right:
1. Plasti-dip, waited for it to dry, then applied spray paint on top
2. Plasti-dip, only waited for about 2 minutes, then applied spray paint.
3. Plasti-dip alone (yea it has some over spray on it)
Method 1 was just to make sure the Plasti-Dip is still easily removable with spray paint on top of it.
Method 2 was to see if I could save time by not having to remask after the Plasti-Dip dried.
Method 3 was just to test Plasti-Dip alone.
Eh so far so good. I proceeded to remove the back cover. Removed the buttons and the speaker grille as well:
Turns out the speaker grill is held on by three bits of melted plastic on the ends, the two visible pieces of tape, and some double sided tape:
Masked off a test area on my N7:
It turned out pretty nasty...
Dont mind the edges on the Plasti-Dip on that last picture. Its because I rushed to remove the masking tape after I saw the over spray seeping through the paper and lifting the masking tape (it seeped through the tape and ate the adhesive possibly?)
So yea, I heard Plasti-Dip is pretty porous when dry, its meant to create a grippy surface after all. But damn, I was hoping the "pores" wouldn't be so visible. Or I was hoping at least the pores would look more uniform. And no, letting it dry more wont make it better, it looked best when first applied ):
Good news is it all came off easily, left no marks behind. Speaker grill reattached easily as well. I just stuck it back on with the existing tape.
What next?
I'm wondering if I want to go through with it anyway. Going to find a piece of plastic I can test on. The cardboard was a good test to see how easily removable the paint is even on such a porous original surface, but I dont think its a good representation of how good it will look in the end.
I may also just wait for spare parts to be available and grab a back cover to paint with spray paint only, no Plasti-Dip.
All in all, this experiment cost me around $18. Plasti-Dip was $13 after shipping (local stores only had black) and the Alien paint was $5.
Was looking forward to seeing more pictures on the thread. I've worked with plastidip a lot on cars and random items and its great stuff. I like how if you don't like it it can easily be pulled off. The trick however is using a lot of small coats that add up which will make it thicker and easier to peel off or just thicker to get it to the consistency you're looking for.
Yea sorry to dissapoint haha.
This being my first try on the N7, I wanted to make sure the Plasti-Dip doesnt damage the rubbery finish of our N7s.
May try again this coming week, larger area, more drying time and more layers. To see if the porous texture improves.
Also, the Plasti-Dip peeled off VERY easily from the N7's back. And this is with me prepping the surface by cleaning it.
I have done plastic dip on car parts but no way I will put it on the back of the Nexus 7. It will make the tablet look cheap up close and it gets dirty easily.

Thats the beauty of plasdip always can go back to the original post up some pics if you give it a second shot!
Is the whole reason for this so you can paint it that terrible green colour? I don't get the point here.... N7 already has a really nice grippy and nice feeling back on it.
Now if it were a slick-as-glass polished plastic, I'd understand wanting to make it more grippy..
Yea the point was so I could paint it any color I want and revert back to original without any damage
The green IS deeper than I expected it to be though. Was looking for more of a light mint green color.
Double post.
Has anyone seen this? Apparently they are not new back covers but they are listed as "A" condition.

Its not that bad. The outer coating which is the "leather like" feel is stained in some areas and peeled off in others. I tried to clean the stains and pulled the soft plastic coating off. It isn't very noticeable but you can feel the difference.

It's basically a substance you can use to dip a material into that covers it in a sort of easily removable coating. Take a look at it on YouTube, it's pretty neat.
Do at least 3 coats I've plasti-dipped a few things.

Samsung Genuine Flip Cover available from Mobilefun.co.uk

I am a proud owner of a white galaxy note 2 for a week now, i bought it from expansys.. and alltough i allready has the note 1 i am amazed how good this new version feels and its improvments...
Anyway i found it very stupid that even though such a premium smartphone comes out and the companies dont bother to release accessories with it.. you have to wait so long to get them!
Good news is i ordered a Genuine Samsung Flip Cover (white) from www.mobilefun.co.uk and should have it in a few days time..
Its the first company i found that has availability of this case, which as you might know replaces the battery cover and protects also the front screen.
I am now waiting for a samsung car dock with usb ingector to come out as the note1 which was perfect..
The blue looks cool think it would look good with the white note 2 , 40bucks is kinda steep though, any coupons or rebates

My flip case arrived this morning. I have a white Note 2 but thought the silver contrats with it pretty well after seeing some video of the case fitted.
The back part of the case is actually slightly thicker than the stock backing. This is to accomodate for the hinge where the front cover attaches. You can see that the chrome surround on the lens sits just slightly below the level of the back case in the photo below. It also feels thicker when you unbox it as there isn't the flex in it as per the stock back casing. Fits lovely and looks real nice though. The micro-fibre lining on the inside is also a nice touch as well as a slight recess for the home button to sit in when the cover is closed.
Hope the pics are of help if any.

I agree with most that the Grey does look better. But since ill be keeping a protector or in this case flip &back cover, the Whote note 2 fits all colour combination. Much more versatile choice of colour

It's a very nice cover and really thinking about it.
However, this case is going to cause problems with use in a car holder (for GPS)
How practical and durable are they in use? Making calls for example, if you have to fold the flap back will the hinge distort, crease, or break over time?

I had the flip cover on my Note 1 for nearly a year and it never had such a problem. Since the Note 2's flip cover is basically the same design, I don't think it will either.

I'm getting the White Galaxy Note 2 & just wondering is the grey flip cover a better suit for it then the white version of it?
I myself would only change the back cover only if I thought it looked good & matched well with the white GN2.
my only concern with the flip cover is it doesnt provide enough protection to the phone. Its not going to cushion any fall like a wrap around case would.

very nice fitting ok when i univirsal clamp incar holder but pain in the ass to take pics with i got the grey phone with white case as that was the only one i could find in town bit pricey @£29.99 but got it free with the phone but need side protection so am still looking for something more rugged one

The only thing i don't understand about this case is why they didn't make a hole for the notification led.
I got mine today and that is the first thing i noticed about it.
I will end up making a hole myself in it but i think it is a design fault
Oh i got the grey one and i heard that the notification led with the white one is visible although it is also missing a hole in it.

[Mini Review] Nanum Ultra Slim Case {$5USD+shipping}

Just got one of these CHEAP, but GREAT slim cases for the N7. I wasn't looking for a case, but when I saw AndroidPolice review it, I jumped on it because of the price really lol.
My take: It's awesome for $4USD plus shipping. Now Amazon is selling it for $5USD plus shipping ($3 in the US). So basically now for $8 bux, this case with free stylus/pen is shipped to you from the USA (for US peeps that's awesome not waiting a week or more for deliveries from overseas).
I have used it for a day and with my 4 year old last night. She found it ok, but she liked the prop up stand on the Seidio Active case better, even though the Seidio made the N7 a bit heavier than I would liked. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Seidio case, just for not everyday use. I intend to use the Seidio for travel.
As for this Ultra slim case, it is true to it's listing. Coming from a bit bulky Seidio case to this is night and day. Yes you don't get the same protection, but the slimness cannot be ignored. Mine is white, well off white, more like French Vanilla ice cream lol. So if you get a white backing or front face, it will NOT match. What you see on the Amazon and Android Police review is what you get. It's true to the pic.
All the holes line up perfect, but also has a hole in the back as well for no reason at all lol. I think the design was for something else but was scrapped. Maybe it was for another device and they changed the design to fit the N7. Maybe it was meant for the ipad mini? Dunno. That whole in the back has no real use. Other than that, all the openings and cutouts are fine. The speaker cutout is perfect and the case flips open without an issue and the bonus, a magnet in this slim thing. I like it that you can't see it in this case. There is only one way to flip the case to have it stand, but you can manipulate it to prop it up to type down as well if you play with the folds a bit.
And to the fold/front flap, this is just like all the slim type cases out there. It will protrude a bit at first, but upon more usage, the bend should subside. There is also a stylus holder on the back. I personally don't use styluses but its there if you need to use it with the free stylus they give you.
My ONLY con is to this case is that when I first got the case, after cleaning the N7 and installing it into the case, it didn't catch in all the corners. Because of that, the front flap wouldn't close. I thought to myself, crap, I have to get a replacement? But I didn't give up on the case lol.
I made it fit lol. The reason why it didn't fit is because of the felt lining in the back where it houses the N7. The backing overlapped one of the ridges where the tablet snaps into the corner and because of that it didn't sit and line up. What I did was snapped 3 of the 4 corners and when I came to the one that wouldn't snap, I used the front flap to gently push down in the corner to snap into place. Now it's held in there real tight and flush. It's not going anywhere. Now YMMV because the felt lining may not be an issue for you or the lining could totally messed up the corner. But for me, this quick trick worked.
As for pics, let me know if you want them but the pics listed in Amazon and Android Police link below has all the pics you really need. :good: It comes in a few colors. As of now (3/26/13), the available colors is the white, blue and grey. At the time of ordering, there was purple IIRC, but I my second choice would have been the grey one. .

question. Does the front flap auto turn the tablet on and off? and does it have a magnetic strip or something that holds the front flap shut so it doesnt open when turned upside down etc?
Looks quite nice. If anything happens to my poetic case I'll be sure pick this one up.

Yes the front flap does. Sorry I did mention it did have a magnet/magnet strip, but failed to state that the magnet works in that way. But it does NOT have anything to keep the cover shut. There is no catch at all. You can use a rubber band if you want, but not really needed in my case. I carry my stuff in a powerbag messenger bag.
I saw this case on Android Police as well and really liked the look of it, though at the time it wasn't shipping to Canada at all. Took another look, and it is now! Sadly though I paid more in shipping than I did for the case, but it's the first case I've seen that I actually like the look of so $15 is a small price to pay! I got mine in blue.
That sucks for the shipping to Canada!!
As for the "hole" in the back. I read that it's used for assisting to grip the tablet, which I can see, I guess lol.
Don't know which N7 you have, but would you happen to know if the mic holes are clear for a 3G nexus? One hole is an inch above the power button, the other us just about halfway down the left side, if you count the dots from the corner it's between the 23rd and 24th one, or between the 12th and 13th one up from the last dock pin.

Great question! I have the first gen wifi only N7 so I cannot absolutely say, but I took pics to explain if it works or not. Based on what you said, the mic hole looks like it will be covered above the power button, but the pogo side is pretty much free and clear. Again please take a look at the pics, they would most likely answer your question.

Thanks for the PSA. That looks nice and the price is good.
Do you think it could be used with a dock? Maybe not the official dock, but a DIY that uses the pogo contacts. Or do I worry needlessly about wear and tear on the micro USB port, and I should just prop open the case and plug/unplug the factory charger as needed.
The only thing I worry about the design is the side that rests on the table when it's open is the side that touches the screen when it's closed, and the tables at coffee shops aren't always clean. Maybe I'm worrying needlessly again.

I have been using the USB port since I got my N7 back in July (wow it's almost a year?! lol) and no issues with the USB port for me. And I religiously charge my stuffs when I can get to a charger lol.
As for using a DIY pogo dock, I guess you can if you have the pogo receptors in the dock that can protrude out and act like a plug to the pogo on the N7. But I guess you can try it out lol. You don't need to prop open the case to charge. There's openings where it needs to be.

Well don't put it on a dirty table...problem solved lol....
For those situations, and if you frequent areas like that, your better bet is the Seidio Active case where you can just wipe off and not worry about stains (on the black version anyways lol). Or even a cheaper tpu alternative.
Hmmm which color should I get? Which do u think would look good with the black carbon dbrand kp?

You askin me?! :cyclops:
LOL
Well for black CF, you should go pink all the way.
Seriously, for black CF, I would go grey (when they are in stock again) or even blue. They do have black as well if you want to go with the easy route but again, not in stock yet.
Well the french vanilla white would be ok as well. For me and the CF, I'd go black or grey.
EDIT: One thing though DTJB. Because you are getting the CF back and Front as well I am guessing, this case may not fit. The case just fits as it is and if you are adding the dbrand back, it may be too thick, believe it or not. Sorry man.

Ever since the kindle fire days, I never liked the cases with the overlapping "fingers" that grab the tablets. They look tacky IMO. But YOU may like them LOL. Anyways that's what I got. :silly:
I read somewhere that while the magnet on this case successfully unlocks the screen when you open it, it will also lock the screen on you when you fold the cover around behind the tablet to hold it in one hand. Can you comment on this issue?
Thanks.

I have heard of this as well, but that was the first thing I had tried and no, it never happened to me and I have tried to purposely do it with the flap back.
Great, glad to hear it.
The other question I have: several people on Amazon reviews mentioned a similar problem to what you described about the case being tight and having to force it in to get it to snap into place. A few of them went so far as to say it was so tight that they noticed discoloration and/or backlight issues with the tablet display in the corner in question, due to the physical stress imposed by the case.
Have you experienced any such concerns?
Thanks.

Nope. They may have put too much force in the corner to do so, but I don't have that issue. I would have blasted the case if that happened lol.

Thanks for the pics. Yeah, the mic by the power button is definitely covered. I've used a couple of cases that cover this though, it doesn't really seem to hurt it much.

Matte Replacement Backs?

I've tried searching around, but still haven't found anything (probably a sign that I won't). Anyway, my G2 should be here soon, are there any replacement backs for the G2 that are matte? I don't want a case, I want a new back panel/door/cover/thing. All I can find on eBay are the same glossy white and black backs.
If there's still nothing I guess I'll just have to try sanding the back like I've seen some do here (can just get another glossy back if it goes badly). Any one done this and can share some pics too?

This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but the red and gold backs recently became available on eBay. They're not completely matte and have a bit of shine to them, but are at least textured. I've been after a red one ever since I felt one up in a shop months ago (they felt really nice, much better than the glossy white or black ones). I have one on order which should be here tomorrow, so I'll take a picture for you when it arrives, or just take a look at a review on youtube of a red or gold G2.

Yep, that's the one, there's also a UK seller here if anyone is interested http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161317603621?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649.
To be honest though, if it's just smudges you're worried about, I find that the black G2 back doesn't visible smudge that much compared to many devices I've owned. Maybe you should hold out until you've had it for a few days? The reason I want a red one is partly because I like how it looks and partly for a little extra grip.

It's not going to be my main phone, so it's not that big of a deal really, but I know I will hate the feeling and look of the gloss. I think what I'll do is give it a run and decide what's more important, keeping everything black or having it feel better. Then I'll sand the back and if all goes well then great, if not I'll know whether to go back to the glossy black or switch to the red. Cheers for the help.

I know you said you didn't want a case. But the poetic palette case is awesome. Its relatively thin and it hides the crappy back cover. I like my phones without cases as well but this is case doesn't bother me at all.

That actually looks really nice, and the texture looks far nicer than the gloss back. Now if only I could find one for the VS980...ugh Verizon making the bastard model of the device.

Very unobtrusive and actually makes it easier for me to locate the buttons on the back.
I don't really care for cases either, but this only adds a few mm to the overall width and depth of the phone.

Yep, the texture is very nice.. grippy, doesn't show any fingerprints and looks nice too. Think you'll be out of luck with the Verizon model unfortunately.
I'm really thinking about buying that gold back for my white G2. I'm only worried about it fitting since the D802 is the model posted and I have the Tmobile version D801.

Actually it is very easy to replace the back cover. Just remove the sim tray and carefully insert a credit card corner and with a bit of twisting you will notice the cover separating so go along round the device and start releasing the cover locks. You don't need to apply much force, you'll hear them release as you go.

Slickwraps for the GWR- First takes
First off, I paid my good money to buy this for review and personal use. I am no way affiliated with Slickwraps, but I do get discounts from time to time, but this was not one of those times lol.
Site: https://slickwraps.com/wood-series-skins-wraps-for-lg-g-watch-r.html
Ok first off, there are NO install instructions. even though they tell you to refer to slickwraps.com/install. But the only wearable install vid is for the Pebble. Not even for the Pebble Steel mind you. But fear not, I have installed it using my infinite patience and know-how and years of experience in applying skins and screen protectors and other junk on our devices.
Amazingly, I didn't mess mine up too bad. I mean I have ordered stuff from Slickwraps many times on different devices, so I expected nice thick skins. I have chosen the one from the Wood Series, the "ebony" version. I wanted it to somewhat match my Maori band with Cocobolo wood buckle that adorns my wrist  . I ordered on late night, 4/6 and just got it delivered to my offcie on 4/10.
Ok back to the install, the packet only comes with the "stop" card and the skin. It is pretty self explanatory on which goes where and the one with the hole is of course for the mic hole on the bottom of the watch. Now this was a bit of a pain to line up. Maybe it's my old eyes, but I had a heck of a time getting it the best so that I can clear the mic hole AND be somewhat in the borders of where the skin rests. There are small cuts to fold or press down on the top portions of the skins so that you can adhere it in between the top and bottom lugs. Next I did the sides of the watch. The button one comes in three pieces, which makes it nice and easy to install. The button part, you can leave it off if you prefer, especially on the darker skins, I put it on for kicks and giggles, and it's ok. The opposite side of the watch is a bit trickier because of the longer piece. You just have to line it up just right so you don't have it wrapped more on ones side than the other.
Then the areas right under and below the non movable bezel was another two that were fairly easy to maneuver. Keep in mind all these pieces have a lot of forgiveness. Meaning if you mess up,like I have you are still ok. Just be gentle in pulling the skin up to correct ones misapplied mistake. The biggest PIA was the circular skin that goes lays right outside the bezel. OMG I was freaking out hoping it was on correctly!! LOL It is on pretty good, not my OCD perfect but hell, good enough lol.
To sum, the skin is of very good quality that has a lot of forgiveness in the application process. Not too sure about the bezel one, that was a one and done one! The overall look is pretty kick ass and almost....almost resembles the real thing IMO. Is it worth it? Well if you have used Slickwraps in the past and have good experiences with it like I have, then yes! :good:
Ok ok....pics forthcoming...oh and any questions please ask! Enjoy!
These things look great and they have so many options. Great review.
Moar pics! Now wood everywhere! lol

Custom strap made for me. It's what is called a Maori design. Watches like Magrette watches incorporate some design elements of Maori as well. I just loved the details and had it custom done. My first initial is on the end of the band, Maori style as well for the ultimate customization lol.
This band needed curved 22mm springbars to fit this on the watch due to the thick leather used. Yes they do sell curved spring bars lol.
