Updated to ICS, now Network Mode disabled - Motorola Droid Bionic

How do I go about re-enabling this option? I'd like to be able to toggle my 4g off to save battery.

Two options on ICS:
Grab LTE On/Off (Thunderbolt) from Play Store
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your dialer
The dialer method simply gets you one step up higher in the Testing menu; go to Phone Information.
Scroll down the page a bit to see the Radio setting; it's the dark grey on black control, right above the Turn Off radio button, that by default reads LTE/CDMW/EvDo. Change to CDMA auto (PRL)

Switch between 2g and 3g

Is there an app or something that allows me to switch between 2g and 3g networks? I have a widget which takes me directly to the settings but I would love an app that I could use instead. Especially something that could for instance switch automatically on location change using something like locale or Settings Profile.
I am rooted if that helps.
Thanks
Needn´t app.On screen dial you type *#*#4636#*#*,and switch it in there

right on, but isn't there a "beautiful" widget or something similar that simply toggles between the two?
here is one i use
2G-3G OnOff
Thanks for the replies, but it's not quite what I am looking for. I already use the widget ghostrida suggests, but really I want a way to either change it directly from the home screen or even better a way to change it using locale or something similar so when I get home and am on WiFi, the phone will automatically switch to 2g networks saving my battery - especially as I have poor 3g reception at home.
Thanks

I dont believe it is allowed any longer in the android sdk due to security issues. I could be wrong though I know a lot of the settings where moved to a secured section.
What you could do is create a contact with the number mentioned above and add it to your homescreen as a widget. If you want to get really in depth with it, you could add a picture of something that would signify edge for you (i.e. a 2g icon or something) and it would show up like that on your homescreen.
Setting it as a contact doesn't work, ive tried that before.
closest solution is an app in the market known as phone info
I use an app c alled switch network type 2g/3g it's not quite what you're looking for, but instead of being a widget it shows up in the notification bar only when you drag it down. it doesn't automatically change it for you, but it also doesn't take up a spot on your homescreen and it's available anywhere the notification bar shows up.

Edge only toggle?

Does it exist on the captivate? I cant find a way to run my phone in edge only to save battery....
Thanks.
You'd have to run certain custom ROM's that have it enabled. Unfortunately they change so often I cannot remember which one offered it.
I would check Auxura ROM in the dev forum here - I "think" they had that feature enabled.

You could try the following:
Put your phone in service mode by dialing *#*#197328640#*#*
Then type 1 for Debug
Then 8 for Phone Control
Then 4 for UE State Control
and then 3 to change to GSM
then Menu-> exit.

Yep, that's what I do during the week as the 3G signal by my office isn't so great. To go back to 3G, it's option 2 instead of 3 (WCDMA).
Think there's a way to create Launcher Pro buttons to have it switch using shortcuts instead of having to dial all that?
just to add some additional info.
Running Axura 2.4, you have the following options in the usual settings menu => Wireless and Network => Mobile Network Settings
GSM/CDMA
GSM Only
CDMA Only

I just added the number as a contact. Whenever I want to access it, it pops right up after dialing #.

GSM/WCDMA switch for Incredible-S (2.3.3) ??

I'm after a way to be able to switch from GSM Only - WCDMA/GSM Auto.
Plenty of widgets that claim they do it, but most of them are "Mobile Data" switches, which I find useless as I can do that from my status bar...
Not even sure if its possible on a stock 2.3.3...might have to be rooted...
Thanks in advance.
Yea you will need a rooted phone as far as I am aware
Sent from my mobile
What about extended controls?
I think it can do the trick.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Have you tried following:
Home -> Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks(Set options for roaming, networks, APNs) -> Network Mode dropdown
My IS is not rooted(or I'm not aware of it) and it is possible to change network mode.
Hi
Just press "Phone" and enter *#*#4636#*#* under "Phone information" you can change it.
Could you indicate what you are trying to do?
Only switch between GSM & CDMA for internet usage?
Or to turn 3g/2g internet connection on-off?
Ok, sorry... It seems like I haven't explained myself right here...
OK...
I am totally aware of what options there are in the settings...but thank you none the less for pointing those out though seriously.
Currently, this is what I do to change it (Mobile Network Settings)... I wasn't saying I cant change it haha. Misunderstanding. My apologies...
I am just after a widget that does it for me basically... from...
"WCDMA/GSM Auto (or just WCDMA)" -----too---- "GSM Only" ----and vice versa...and so on...
I hope this makes sense...
Thanks again, in advance guys.
It makes perfect sense, but I don't think its possible.

Hrmm, yeah I'm starting to realise that...unfortunately...
I'm still going to try some stuff. A friend suggested "Toggle 2G"...but i cant seem to find it on the market... The add on for it is there but, not that actual app...weird...
Under HTC widget, there is one for the on/off for 3G.
I don't have an on/off HTC 3G/2G toggle widget

On the main screen, touch the personalize button.
Touch widget.
Touch Browse all HTC Widget.
By default it is number 50/71 widget.
My unmod IS have this.
The topic is about switching between 2G and 3G not switching mobile data on or off.
Thanks for your reply man. But unfortunately there's no such thing. There's a mobile data switch, which has nothing to do with GSM or wcdma.
Thanks anyway.

I only have 66 HTC widgets and 2g/3g is not one of them. Very strange.
I guess IS from different countries differs.
I have that widget and it works fine for me.
It does toggle between 2G/3G. Tried and Tested.

4G LTE... and App Drawer

I installed Viperone 3.5. Two questions:
1) In the drop down notifications, I cannot select 4g/LTE. And when I'm working off mobile network, I see the "H/3G" symbol. Is this because 4G/LTE is not available??
2) In the app drawer, is their anyway to get scroll from right to left, as opposed to vertical. In one of the videos, I noticed the user scrolling through the app drawer – right to left – and it looked like a cube (i.e., 3D). Possible?
Thanks much! I"m just getting the hang Flashing ROMs. I got nervous about battery and flashed to ARHD but flashed back when I did not see some noticeable customizations that I had with Viperone. Any other good ROMs for the HTC One. Thanks much!
Go to dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* > Phone Options, there should be a drop down for LTE and such. I put it on auto.

Did what you said and had "WCDMA Preferred" selected. It would not let me change it to GSM/LTE...Auto. Thoughts?????
What about #2 (above)?
Thanks so much!

Question Network Modes (5G-2G)

I just moved new from huawei to samsung. and on huawei they always had a shortcut to switch directly to 4G only. also when long pressing on the mobile data in quickpanel it took you directly to the setting page where you can change the network mode.
On samsung software i cant seem to find any shortcut to this except to go to settings > connections > mobile networks > network mode and change from there. I dont want to keep it at automatic because sometimes i am in poor reception areas and already have wifi so i need to force it to 2g only which has better reception. (to reduce battery drain)

I click on the button I mentioned and it brings me to a band selection screen. Might only work on the QUALCOMM version which is what I have.
Here is a screen recording I just made.

Just use Bixby routines and create a condition or a button to trigger the change to your preferred network mode.

seems so. and besides it still requires you to go to the application and click the button. so i can instead click on settings and then connections and then im on the same screen. on huawei it was just 1 click to be on that screen

I have set up a bixby routine to switch network modes, and you can put a button on your homepage.
Settings > Advanced Features > Bixby Routines
If Start Button Tapped
Then Network mode (select what you want)
You can also make it revert when you unclick the button
Then on the home page, long press, add widget, add a bixby routine button, select the routine you just made

Sure. In the "if" condition choose "start button" then choose the action to switch to the preferred network mode. After that you can set a home screen button for the routine.

Thanks guys, ok I have managed to create the scenario but I was under the impression that this button can be put in the quick toggles but I cannot find it. Where do you find the button?
I can only see it as a widget. (I am using nova launcher if it matters)
Thanks again

I have found from the galaxy store the app called widget edge that would allow you to add widgets to the edge feature.
For now this solves my problem in a way. If you think of other solutions please let me know.
