I think, we've enough f*cking time wasted, it's time to search for devs who'll help us.
I don't have time for now, but soon i'll organize gathering of the money to lucky dev when i get my pc (typing from phone now)
But if You organize it faster than me, sure go ahead, we have to unleash our 4X asap!
In this thread we can eventually check whether anyone would donate and how much.

One question, if there will be this lucky developer, who will?

I don't know for now, we should do a thread in android general section and then someone should be found (i think)

I can donate 20 euro's no problem !!!
Get that thing unlocked

One thing now: where'd be best to collect that money, paypal donation or what?
@edit all is ready to get started, i made the topic in Android General too:

I will pay 10 euros for an unlocked bootloader.

You could ask xda member wkpark to help he is good at this. He made a lot of good things for lg phones. Boot tool for omap4 phones, unlocked bootloader on su660 (2x korean) ics ........

you do know this is just a good joke? we could already have that rom if the guy was actually doing something real.
having drivers developed and using existing stock kernels have existed for ages.
the video was fake, and just running a launcher with a settings apk from cm10 and build.prop modified, why would you believe anything else when its been months since we got cwm and the option to install roms?
even i released a bootable cm10 with call function disabled, but thats at least more than a video showing fake presentation with edits all around on a developer phone.
honestly would not use that as an argument to get bootloader unlocked.
its easier to get 2nd-boot to work i guess than having bootloader unlocked, we have already seen that is possible.

Yeah he could probably in some time maybe hack the P880 bootloader indeed. It seems he has done the same on that device that also had a BCT encryption like our device. But then again he will need to have a P880 phone to start hacking it. So the donations should be a lot

well, i got a reply and He gave me the link to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26637229
What do You guys think? (i'm not a dev, lol)

Willing to donate 20 euros, via Bank transfer (IBAN), or via Paypal. In both cases fees paid by the developer who gets the bounty. My offer is timely limited till the end of 2013, after that I most probably will already have sold the phone.

I can chip in $50 just to get this thing unlocked! But will have to wait for 2 weeks for my funds to come in. Just recently got back from a family vacation in San Diego and will be leaving for another trip to Vegas in 3 weeks...so money is pretty tight at the moment. But im definitely willing to chip in $50!

This isn't a carrier-subsidized phone, it's a Nexus. Unlocking the bootloader and thus root is a feature fully supported out of the box.
Nothing special here, you can easily root any Nexus device.
We buy Nexus devices because we expect its bootloader to be easily unlocked (fastboot oem unlock) and easy to root, and the direct Google updates.
Sent from my R800x
Everyone knows on nexus its just a case of fastboot oem unlock
I was hoping for a source, cause who ever it is already has their hands on a device... we could get a system dump maybe?
Wow, amazing.. Or not. You only need one command to unlock a nexus phone, it is a built in feature.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
im glad everyone knows how to unlock the bootloader, that doesnt give you root though.
with custom kernel that means someone had to have pulled the stock image off using an exploit that works on 4.2 (in which case the device in question may be fully stock except root). with custom recovery it isnt impossible to do without the stock kernels but it certainly makes it a bit more time consuming.
so while im happy everyone knows its indeed a nexus device this proves 1 of two things, someone already has a 4.2 ready exploit (doubt it would go public any time soon tho), or some for of custom recovery is already made for the device.

The only purpose of an exploit on a device with an unlockable AND relockable bootloader is to save some people from wiping /data. That's it. You can achieve the exact same thing with unlock->root->lock. There was only a couple people who seemed to possibly be implying that unlock bootloader means root. The rest of us were saying with open source recovery and fastboot oem unlock and the fact that exploits don't matter, the rooting of this device is a forgone conclusion.

As i said in my post i get that custom recoveries are used for that. everyone seemed to be bashing this thread but as i said it holds more valuable information than most of the threads on this forum. if someone made a custom recovery then chances are day one of shipment it will publicly available and everyone can root using it, its a step towards development regardless, you wouldnt shun someone showing off TWRP/CWM on the N4 saying "oh its a nexus that was easy.." its the same work to get root.
if this was rooted using an exploit then even better news IMO, sure its "fairly" useless on this device (although using it you can then grab dumps of the images and make recovery etc). but there are a lot of devices out there who could use this exploit.
but yes i agree that this phoen would have had a way to root very quickly regardless, just amazed to see people think they could root it the same way as they did their other nexus devices (which prolly had recovery before they got the device)
Excuse my n00by question here, but if I were to unlock my bootloader which I am going to do as soon as my N4 has some charge, that isn't going to give me Root which is what I want but eh.
Is there any known working method of rooting this device at the moment? Is it likely that Bin4ry's ICS/JB exploit will work here?

so here goes,
i have been trying to make a new port based on the RD miui rom, which initially worked out well, with the limits of the Custonexus rom + usb storage sharing which seems incompatible completely for now.
it has been tested , but somehow not lived up to a satisfying degree. the new base is little improved and got the fixes from custonexus rom included to support better handling and enabling/disabling in general (which of course should be perfect now)
anyways, there exists a big drawback on this alpha i will publish, which is it cannot currently use ClockWorkMod to restore to stock or another backup. and i have struggled to solve it, but unable to.
so it comes with a certain degreee of being less perfect, since you need to be experienced in using kdz recovery.
question is, how many would spend time with it, if you cannot use ClockWorkMod to restore (although most should know kdz recovery programs by now) is it worth releasing?
no problem for me..really happy to see u are the only person work hard to make custom rom for LG 4X,,,so no reason for me to buy nexus 4...thanks a lot!!
I love MiUI and I love you Dexter. But i'm affraid the 3G doesn't work in France with Custonexus, or maybe I'm a noob.

totally agree and why i wondered. but i checked other sections and there exists worse ports than this MiUI.
but i cannot go back on a XX:1 in favour of releasing it, so here it is. Those that dislike the release, can simply skip it.
my secret agenda is that someone sits down and say i can do much better, and release a new 100% working ROM if possible
thankyou dexter once again for more great work, and in response to Zhus06 - because one has an opinion doesnt mean its favoured by everyone, gratitude should give regardless if one person likes or not

a common developer excuse is simply : we got no chance of compiling a kernel with fixes.
actually in this case it would help MiUI on the vibration fix, since they expect to control vibration with parameters with an updated kernel driver we do not have a chance to fix, so its messes up somehow expecting a newer driver.
and yes, i know there exist appreciation and worth the effort trying to show o4x can actually go all the way, and better if i get my f....
(AND i just got my cm10.1 compile fully sync'd YEAH!!)

If he has problems with drivers and would search for it he would've probably got something like "try other drivers" or "reinstall drivers".
Or at least try kdz flash.
Search for brick and then follow the suggestions given on the outcomes.

You don't spend long here and don't contribute to the forum. The first rule of XDA is SEARCH
When you see the same questions being asked every day simply because people are too lazy to bother searching and reading it becomes a little bit tiresome to say the least

Its very likely out device makes use of a sbk, which it uses to encrypt all nvflash communication (nvflash is a nvidia protocal for acessing pre-bootloader states, with tegra devices this is done through apx mode.) Without knowing the sbk we have little hope of accessing nvflash via apx. I dont think it would be impossible to use a nexus 7 / asus tablet method to access nvflash but its a seroius undertaking for even the most skilled of developers.

Yeah I found that out through trial and error lol. To install the ROM though, do you need S-OFF or can it stay S-ON? If it needs S-OFF, can you point me to a forum about getting S-OFF?

Oh, and can someone please post a different download link of the ROM? The Chinese server is unbearably slow, so can someone put it up on an American server?
Got it downloaded and installed, its amazing. Only problem is that I got a bootloop when I first loaded it, but that was fixed by clearing the cache, dalvik cache, and something else. Thanks!
For those of you that are going to use this ROM, if you install with S-ON, and then later decide that you want to S-OFF (like me), then you will need to reflash the ROM after you achieve S-OFF, otherwise the ROM freezes at the "Sense 5" startup screen and then begins a bootloop up to that point.

[Q] Custom ROMs and Kernels and CM

Hi everybody!
Has there been any kernel and ROM development for the Z3 Compact, because I hope to buy it?
My second choice would be the S5 Mini but again I have not seen any development.
( Reasons for my choices are weight and size, being a girl I have seem to have been given smaller hands so giant sized phones have been dropped. )
Thanks lots and kind regards,
Soph.
P.S I'll post this on the s5 min forum also
Its kinda hard to develop for a phone which hasn't been released yet.
I can buy them here.

EDIT

This should be available in NL in 11 days, because when I try and place the order they say it won't ship for eleven day:

You need to be patient, developers need time, most people in north america who preordered from the UK retailers won't even get it until next week. I wouldn't expect boot loader unlocks or root until late next week at the absolute insanely earliest

Actually you can already unlock the bootloader > http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
I'm going to try it this evening. Afterwards maybe try Framaroot to see if the existing exploits to obtain Root access also work on this device.
I'm also personally waiting for CM; the xperia ROM feels really strange to use. Does anyone know roughly how long CM take to make a ROM for a new phone if they decide to support it?

Too bad.
I dont think even the Z1C got an official CM release did it? And the one that was there broke all sensors when encryption was enabled

A lot of it comes down to how many people (developers in particular) want or get the phone. I'm hoping that there will be a decent community behind the Z3C as many people don't want larger phones anymore and this still has decent specs and a great battery life. We'll have to wait and see, but CM isn't a necessity if you just want the options that CM exposes to the uses - there's plenty of ways to customise the device.
Personally, I'd be happy with root and a more vanilla android version without some of the Sony customisations.

Even modified kernels with recovery from z1c and z2 not fit, and you somehow childish way want to get Root.

Jesus, don't get your panties all in a bunch.
Anyway, what makes you think that flashing a custom recovery is "easier" then getting root access?

It is not easier. It is more reliable. And most importantly, even though I was doing something to get root, and do not sit in my panties like you in anticipation of a good magician.
