OFFICIAL: I Got/Ordered my Nexus 4 thread - Nexus 4 General

I know its a bit early but, here's the obligatory, "I got/ordered mine" thread!

Change it to "Ordered mine"

I hope I can get at least $400 for my i9300 when this is released, just to cover the cost of the 16gb. My i9300 is currently my only phone so I'm kind of stuck with is for now.

Life isn't fair. I figured that out when I was around.. 8 years old.
I see we have some children in here. If you're going to act like children, I may as well treat you like children! Thread closed. Consider this a warning, any more childish behaviour and I'll dish out infractions!!

I will PAY for an Ingress invite

Anybody have an Ingress Invitation? I'll buy it...
No. However I am a Syrian prince with millions in gold bars that I would be willing to give to you at pennies on the dollar for 5000 USD in the next 72 hours. In return I will give you 35 monster cables worth of gold to sell at 1000% markup.

I'll have to think about it.
And if I do give it to you, it would be 100% free. I wouldn't make you pay for this.

Well... It would be greatly appreciated! If you don't want the money, I'd be happy to return the favour somehow... I've been sending interesting Ingress artwork to Brandon Badger on Google+ who is giving out codes to people who impress him with something... but he has had about 4000 people add him to their "circles" in the last 3 days... so I'm guessing his inbox is a little flooded.

Ok...so many things went wrong with your thread so far:
Reason the first... making a financial transaction outside the MP
Reason the second...even if this was an allowed transaction in the MP, you've posted on the wrong forum.
Reason the third..there is a thread with this topic already.
Reason the fourth...I can eat a burrito from Chipotle's on a daily basis if I could
Reason the fifth...I can closed threads.
Reason the sixth...I just closed this thread but yet able to post in it... Sorcery some may say?
Anywhere...no more of these threads!
Cheers,

What he said.

What the **** are Google doing?

I ordered back in November and still haven't heard anything from them, at this point I don't want the damn phone, they've pissed me off too much. People slag off Apple or Samsung but at least you get your phones from them. Are they so cheap from Google because you're waiting for RMA'd handsets from people who got their phone off contracts or something lol?
.....
I understand your anger but was it really necessary to create a new account just to post this in a new thread?

Wow, I just wanted to know what is your opinion on that, to start a discussion... Stopping the production is an important information, at least it's how I see it.

Actually it is important. A lot of people here believed the 6 was too big. A lot of people believed that the 5 was perfect. A lot of people had discussed the possibility that Google would keep the 5 and the 6 and upgrade the hardware of each device yearly or so. If google has indeed stopped production of the 5 that could mean they are gearing up for a new 5. Or they are killing the device to be replaced by something else entirely. Notice how I used the term "a lot" quite often? So while your entitled to your opinion it doesn't mean the rest of us aren't interested in what this could mean. Since you've already decided to report this thread Id be interested to see that the Mods take on it is.

My warranty card says it's 2 years.
Given the pace of change it's not surprising that the nexus 5 is reaching end of life. In terms of market reach the model had reached saturation. Those who want it have it already. Phones sell because they are an upgrade,to profit companies must keep moving. What does it mean for existing nexus 5 owners. Not much. We are likely to see incremental software updates for the next couple of years. We may or not get big future updates but nexus devices tend to be supported longer. A lot of Nexus 5s have been sold, we have a strong development community that will continue for the next couple of years. All this is normal, expected. Over the next few years the majority of the community will buy new phones, many in less than 12 months. Not a shock.
The N5 will still be available through other sellers like ebay, amazon, etc..... for a good long while. You can still buy any nexus phone from the past brand new.
Sorry people this is not new information.

Samsung has officially discontinued my favorite phone

Well just made it in from work to hear that samsung is officially discontinuing the Note 7. So what does that mean for us. My favorite phone has went up in smoke (literally)...
I'm upset to. Best phone I ever used by far. Hopefully they rebrand it with the issues worked out and release it along with the s8 in march/april. To wait another 10 months for a new note would be ridiculous. That is if they even decide to keep the note line(which I hope).
Can someone cite an official source at Samsung? The media is jumping all over it, but nobody can give a credible source, and Sammy still says it's temporarily halted production.

I did not see "temporarily" or "permanently" in either of samsung statement. They said they are "halting" production.
So I guess that is left for interpretation.

https://news.samsung.com/global/sam...note7-while-further-investigation-takes-place "while further investigation takes place". Note the date. This is the global announcement.
Here's the US announcement:
https://news.samsung.com/us/2016/10...lobal-stop-sale-and-exchange-of-galaxy-note7/
Again "while further investigation takes place".
I'm asking for a solid source from Samsung (SSS lol) stating that they have discontinued the Note7. Until then, this thread is nothing but overzealous hype.
EDIT: This one just popped up on the US feed: https://news.samsung.com/us/2016/10/11/samsung-decided-stop-production-galaxy-note7/
Interesting. Very short. It doesn't come out and say they've discontinued it, only that they've stopped production. Dammit Samsung, say what you mean..
EDIT 2: I have requested language clarification from the press contact at Samsung US. Hope to hear back shortly.
Yep, its official...

Lol, I was agreeing with you
Though per your last source, I do read that as discontinue though. I mean if they stopped production due to the result of everything...what does that really say? I think Note 7 dying i guess...

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just posting what I'd found so far and the wording that was used, indicating why it was confusing. Hopefully Sammy will respond to my Inqiury.. Here is what I sent them:
To: [email protected] (Andrew Bowins - Corporate Communications)
Subject: Galaxy Note7 Clarification
Andrew,
I'm trying to confirm that the Galaxy Note7 is discontinued. I have heard from various unnamed sources the line is now discontinued, but the latest release from the Samsung US Newsroom only states you have stopped production, and is not clear on whether production will resume in the future or not.
Can you please clarify this statement?

Good email....I think sammy is trying to give room to wiggle a bit...but let be honest with ourselves, sammy trying to serve the world government and corporations...it is in their best interest to halt production before releasing another set of batch....if v3 goes kaboom as well, they are done as a company.

Assuming this is really the EOL for the Note7, then expect zero updates in the future.... except maybe to disable it for 'safety' reasons..

Exactly. They aren't going to support a phone, with any updates, that they've discontinued. That would only encourage people to keep it and increase their liability.
Lol Verizon is letting me keep my note 7 and refunding me and making me eligible for another upgrade.. Got it for free...

You better have that in writing, and in recording lol. My mama always said nothing is free in this world...you will pay for it one way or another. And no, Money is not the only currency lol
Sammy probably going to release an update to give you a paper lol
Samsung hasn't officially done anything and everyone needs to calm down. "The Verge" isn't Samsung.
