The limited storage is this phones downfall. - Nexus 4 General

I've been looking for a phone to buy outright for awhile and the Lumia 920, iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note 2 are all strong contenders, however the Nexus 4 beat them all with the price of £279. I was so prepared to buy one because it's a bargain but only 16GB? That would be fine if there was a Micro SD but there isn't. They really need to release a 32GB and 64GB model. I mean I fill 16GB up with music alone on my GS2.

Sweet, another thread about storage. Go buy another phone.

Buy another phone. Use cloud services. Use the search function in this forum. Do anything else but complain here. Most of us have had enough.

Unlimited data here so storage isn't an issue and i get H+ mostly everywhere I got from home to work so all good. 16 gig is enough for me. Lucky we all have the option to buy other phones

No one cares about your lack of storage. Don't buy it. But starting another thread on the subject is retarded. Much like your reasoning. Lets be brutally honest here too; Most that music you have sux. I bet its all emo/metro one hit gargbage. Cut out the crap.
I currently have every Led zep, Pink flyod, the who, the beatles, Metallica, slayer, Gwar, Wierd AL, AC DC, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, the B52s, BTO, Bad Religion, Bela Fleck, the Black Keys, blood hound gang, Blues traveler, Buthole surfers, Cat Stevens, Cherry poppin Daddies, Citizen Fish, Danzig, Bowie, Elton Jon, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, GNR, Jethro Tull, Hendrix, Mifits Thrill kill kult, and about 50 more bands, with huge discography librarys all in Flac, and I only have about ten gigs taken up. You are doing something wrong, listening to garbage, if you have much more than that......

get over it. use google play for music or any of the free streaming music players. drive for documents and ubuntu one, dropbox, box, sugarsync, and google plus for photos. join the cloud and keep back ups on the home computer.
This thread should just be deleted!

lol so much hate, this is like Apple telling customers they're holding it wrong. I'm sorry that I am wrong for wanting more storage, no you people have convinced me that I don't need more than 16GB, you're right :S................
It's called feedback, if enough people request it then they'll release a version with more storage.

No, the main point was that there are already threads in this very forum, in the same section, about the exact same topic. If you want to give feedback, email Google, I'm sure they'll love to hear from you.

And that's the great thing about Android devices in general, variety. You want more storage try an S3 or HTC One x, or anything that meets your specific requirements. Rather than bleating about the one device that doesn't.

I personally would have thought that after the Galaxy Nexus if the feedback/backlash was so great they would have changed their minds with the Nexus 4 and included the ability for expanded storage.

Why is that? Because of how much the GNex flopped?
Oh wait... that's right. Everyone complained about it for the weeks prior to the release and then you didn't hear a word about it because it was never an actual problem.

We really need to get a Mod in here to just merge all the storage rant threads together. I'm not saying I'm not fully satisfied with the storage issue, but I'm not making a new one despite the fact there's already about five (as far as I've seen, probably more) threads which state exactly what you're stating.

Hello, please use one of these threads:
Poll: what size storage do you need?
How much memory are you using????
Stop Complaining About The Storage!
Storage Solution.
Worried about space? Possible solution...
or just the more general complaining thread here:
Google ******* fails again...
Thanks

A few mobile technology things I hear that P*SS ME OFF

Here are a few things, that when I hear people say them or something like them, I immediately want to just punch them in the face.
1. "4G is here!"
Uhm, no. Next year, buddy, at the earliest. It's going to be in a few markets and a few markets for the next year or so, but not everywhere that you'd normally get 3G. And by the way, THIS.
2. "Verizon is the best (in the US)!"
Uhm, no. They may have the best coverage, but I'd prefer not to pay out of my a** to get it. I'd also like it if people weren't nickled and dimed for every little thing, like tiered data plans (F*CK bandwith capping) and tethering.
3. "My iPhone is the greatest!"
Uhm, no. Lay off the Kool-Aid.
4. "Why did you buy that BRICK of a phone? (about my Touch Pro 2)
Hey, di*kface, this phone has the best mobile keyboard on the planet. That's a lot of space right there. Not to mention all the hardware goodies that were nice when the phone first came out. I want my phone to be like a mini-computer, so I'm okay if it's as big and heavy as one.
Okay, just venting. Anyone else get frustrated at some of the things you constantly hear?????!!!!

I will bow down to you!! That exactly what everyone says!!! SPOT on!
This is what i get in school:
"Why have you got an old 80's phone?" "I havent, but i better my phone is better than yours at multitasking!"
"Look he carrys his computer around in his pocket" "at least ive got a computer!"
Or..
"Whys your phone so big?" "Because its about to burst with the amount of functions it has"
Some people ask how old my phone is. I say 7 years old. They say its getting on a bit. Why don't you buy a Samsung Tocco Lite? I say:
1. Tocco's screen is too small,
2. I can't play DOOM on a tocco,
3. Its too popular
4. Its not windows mobile,
5. Why would i spend about £60 on a phone i can lose easier because its small?
6. The build quality won't be as good.
So there!!!! Iam a bit tired now, might just chop my hands off.

LOL
I always get "It's a bit Heavy" - to which they get "It has a fully functional QWERTY keyboard - it's an acceptable trade off".
I also like taking the proverbial "P" out of people who still own iPhone's and are getting bored with them. I keep telling them how many of Apple FanBoi's have now gotten the HTC Desire and love it now.

I have 2 Twitter accounts and I try to use them as often as possible, but I just can't figure out why people would choose this over Facebook. You get the status updates, you can post pictures and videos just the same, and you have more of a profile established with loads of stuff. I mean all of my status updates are the same for all of them (thanks to Digsby) and please don't be offended by this, but why do a majority of people prefer Twitter? I'd love to get into it, but I just don't see it.

I've found that Twitter is best to reach a larger audience in a shorter amount of time, which is why it is perfect for ROMs and such. John releases a rom, he has 20,000 followers. These followers tell their followers through a retweet and it quickly gets around. With Facebook it could take days before anyone notices something (or says anything).
I've always used Facebook for family conversations and Twitter for my android friends.

Dualboot Phiremod/Honeycomb SD on Ebay

Dualboot Phiremod/Honeycomb SD on Ebay
Ok, I know this issue has been raised before. But this just isn't right. This person is profiting off the hard work of everyone here on the Nook Color Dev forums. I understand that some people are technically challenged and enjoy the fact that all they have to do is pop in the SDcard with the roms already loaded. But I've made that dualboot img so that any technically challenged person can do it. All you have to do is burn it to a card and you have a dualboot rom.
Not to mention all the devs that actually put work into making these roms how they are. And we do it all so everyone can benefit without being ripped off by said ebay poster.
**sigh**
Sorry for my rants, but even if the poster had even mentioned or give credit where credit is due, I wouldn't be as upset.
Oh and here is a youtube video where the person is explaining on how to use the dualboot menu by J4mm3r. You don't want to boot to "eemc". LOLOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sayrOZfF6gE
Just want to say thanks to the wonderful community here as well.
Thanks,
Racks
One half of me is happy to see that my Honeycomb SDK build was good enough to want to use. The other half of me is pissed off at stupid profiteers using it to make bouku bucks....
Sadly, i knew when i put it out there, i could not stop it from being used this way. And of course, it isn't just my effort being ripped off - it looks like they are using your work as well Racks.
Ah well... i just won't support the poor suckers who get said cards, and cannot figure out why they dont work.
Why dont you guys report the items on ebay. Since he deff does not have a license from google to SELL android os. Google lets you use android for free but have to have a license to sell it.
$50 Yikes! I could see spending maybe $10 or $20 to save the hassle, in fact I paid a local guy $20 off of Craigslist to do the CM7 install for me since I wasn't comfortable doing it myself. But $50?!?!? That's robbery.
You know, there's a whole wider point here about how forums, and the like, disseminate information.
I've had my Nook for all of a week. I'm on my second Android phone so am used to flashing ROM updates. BUT coming to this corner of XDA I hit a brick wall seriously hard.
The problem for this and many other fora is that no-one offically obsoletes and removes information. Some info is good and still current; some never worked and some has now become bad after Nook updates. As a noob I have no easy way of knowing which is which.
I've been following this forum daily but I've mainly been looking to Gingerbread and stock 1.2. I am astounded to discover there is a dual boot option on an SD card with Honeycomb. Where is it? Why didn't I see it? Where are the guides to doing it?
On to the eBay guy; you do get a tested 16Gb card for your money. Good luck to him! If he'd acknowledges software sources - all the eBay 'me toos' out there would have it too easy.

Well you can find the dualboot SD here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13092402&postcount=1
And it almost sounds like your condoning his actions? Be that as it may, yes when we put information out there on these forums, people are free to use them as they wish. Just wish people like said poster wouldn't benefit free from other peoples hard work that they put into it. Not to mention the community here that tested these roms and reported bugs and issues so that it would be tweaked to it's best ability to run on our Nooks.
How would anyone feel if they put hours and days or even months into a project so that they can help out a community only to have someone come by, take that project, package it up and make a profit off of it. It just aint right.
Again, I was just writing to vent. Don't take anything I write personal. I feel much better now!

I can totally understand where you are coming from; I have a paid app on the market and am sure some people download, get a refund but keep it on their system with Titanium Backup. I get mad too. But sometimes I pirate stuff and feel justified. Human beings are a funny mix - or at least I am.
Would you really want to run a business selling formatted SD cards on eBay or would you prefer doing what you do and contributing to the community? Clearly for you, 'contribution' is an important part of your self-realization. I imagine monetizing everything you touch is not how you wish to live your life or see yourself. There are others who take a different world-view; the eBay guy being one of them.
As for condoning his actions, I think I recognise the world needs enterpreneurs as well as altruists; but I agree I do feel differently when it's me being ripped off
Thanks for the link but in a way it make the case for the eBay guy. The post has been updated and the steps one needs to take from scratch to get an SD card dual booting have become less clear. The words "Phiremod 6.2 and Madcat's Honeycomb Hybrid-RC1" may mean something to those that have been here a while; sadly in this madly hyper-linked world it means little to me yet.
I'm minded of a software Engineering lecturer who once asked 'Why is it that when software is updated the file size always grows". Thread updates via edits on XDA-developers always get larger - is there a good reason why?

Well, firstly just want to say thanks for your understanding of my rants.
And yes you are correct in how the world works, people will be people.
Thread updates gets larger via edits so newcomers can see the progress of the work that has been done. And out there for anyone that wants to understand how it progressed from initial beta phase to current status of the app/software/rom being worked on.
Oh and regarding the software quote, well size of any particular software grows when you add additional modifications, tweaks and functions.
Take my horrible analogy for example:
"You can make scrambled eggs with just two eggs some oil and a pan. Wanna make make that scrambled egg even better? How bout an omelette, now we need previous ingredients, plus, cheese, mushrooms, etc...." you get my drift.

Racks, I'm sorry to hear the profiting from your and other devs work. I personally am not a developer, and would consider myself fairly novice at the inner workings of my NCs, however I have rooted both of mine and bought the second one just to learn, to try the different mods, to try all of the neat things that have been done to this point so that I can learn. Great reason to have threads out there that are older...
I had someone here at the office offer me $ to root their nook and put MN on it, I declined, modded it for them anyway, and now she's happy, I don't have any extra money, but for some reason I feel better about it. Imagine that, and I expressly made it clear that I didn't do anything other than follow directions and take no credit for what they now had.
So, thank you for all of your work, thanks to all of the other devs for their work as well, and to Hades with the guys that try to profit off of other people's hard work! LOL
DB
I think the loser doing this gets away with it by claiming you are not buying Android but rather you are buying the memory card and his "service" - which is a BS way around the rules.
Theres always the guy that profits solely off the service.
Just because we "get it" doesnt mean the average end user does.
"Android will change the way we do things" been saying that since me G1.
Instead of the legal and moral issues (if exist) the seller doesn't mention anywhere what is the class of the sds. The photo from ebay is low quality so I couldn't spot it.
what about this scenario?
A coworker has played with my rooted (bootloader with CM7 on a 16g sd card - stock untouched) and is purchasing one soon. i've told her there might be some issue with rooting 'new' hardware - but I'm not exactly certain about that. she wants to pay me to set hers up the way mine is. she might give me money, or she might buy me a six-pack of fancy beer or who knows.
I've told her that it is all copied work from various folks on the boards - but she'll never know xda-developers much less the individuals who have made all this possible. (can I 'thank' you guys on your threads more than once - adding a thanks for her?)
If I accept any kind of remuneration, am I profiteering from your work?
What if I decide to upgrade to a 32 gig card, and she pays me the price of my 16gig card and I leave the setup on it?
just curious where the line is

There is no line crossed. Your not putting out an ad to get peoples nooks so you can root it for them.
Someone personally asked you to do this for them. And I see nothing wrong with it. Its the ones that mass produce software that isn't theirs for money. That's what irks me.
I say gofor it. Not to mention that you've told your co-worker about
XdA. Not every one is tech savvy. And I already said that I wouldn't be as upset if said poster would have given credit to all the devs that put work in for free so he can make money off burning not just one. But many sdcards to sell on eBay.
To each his own I guess.

I can see your fustration Racks. If I dedicated so much of my own time to benefit my community then somebody comes in and profits off my hard work I would be pissed.
That being said for us users on xda we do appreciate the time you put in to make our devices that much more awesome. So I say thank you sir, and hopefully more people will come to the xda forums and do their work themselves or at least try.
And it is true that Android is "open sourced" for the most part. However, anything Google requires licensing. This includes Google apps and the Android market. These are closed sourced. Seeing how these sd cards have both Google apps and market preinstalled, I can see Google justified in taking action if they choose to. Even if the consumer is paying for the "device" (sd card) that devices is distributing Google's property. Food for thought.

Racks, thanks for the time you and the other devs put into the nook and cm7. I am fairly new to th android world but not to nix so the transition was not as rough for me as for some. I realize there wil always be folks out there who try to obtain other peoples work and profit from it and we, as a community, can only watch. What I propose, however rough around the edges it sounds, is that we, as a community, refer anyone who purchases these warz back to the source for assistance. I do realize that I sound harsh but the only way to prevent others from profiting from your work is to refuse to support the "pirated" software.
The whole AOSP thing has been a thorny issue from day one. As an old guy, I remember programming before monitors when keypunch cards were the norm but, even then, There were folks trying to profit from the hard work of others. Same thing applied then, if you have my work and did not get it from me then when you need support, go to the guy you got it from. Just sayin.....

The petition is regarding both a micro-SD card and a higher storage option. I know there are hundreds of phones but there is only 1 nexus. This partition is regarding the nexus.
Why don't you give up *****ing about people who want freedom of storage? lol hypocrite. I've seen you post numerous posts in all threads like this.
And lastly, there is no *****ing involved in the first post.

This. Stop *****ing and buy another phone, you have plenty of awesome choices.

This thread is ridiculous stop complaining about the micro SD slot. Its not going to happen and if Google doesn't want to include it in their nexus program they don't have to. You as the consumer have the option to either purchase
A nexus or don't at all. If you want to complain about storage and SD card issues this is clearly not the phone for you and please do your whining elsewhere.
Google has given two decent storage options,a fast phone, great os, build quality and an awesome price.
Please stop nagging Google. Ron Amadeo from androidpolice has spoken about this and has put out a post on how rude people were to Mathias Duarte during their open interview. They were nagging him about the SD card storage and its not right that he has to answer the same question over and over. Google does not want SD cards at the moment; please respect Google and their choice.
Anyway that's my opinion. Im not here to start trouble, I'm just here voice my opinion.
I rather a petition for a $25 play card or free Google Drive space

^^ THIS!
Everyone has right to think the way they think its right but Google, started Chrome which the main promise of Chrome OS and laptops was online storage. Now I don't think they will start supporting any phone that goes against their strategy?
I think Google sees a world that internet is cheap and in more places, so we store things online. They did many experiments on brining cheaper and high speed internet to different cities and one was Kansas City with their fiber optic support and great speed.
When OP suggest that, if no one buys the phone they will listen to us? Well, not every one is here on XDA that buys the phone. Developer probably mostly don't care about storage and remember that Nexus once was produced for developers not for folks put lots of movies (I guess you can still do that if you store your files online).
Either way, at this point that phones have been manufactured, we should get better options like free GD space or some nice other service. I don't even know for $300 what else we could have expected and asked for?
Lets wait and see the tear down of N4, maybe we could swap the storage?
I am against this!

pissed abbout google play store and samsung appstore and espetially amazon appstore

hy,
im not sure if im doing something wrong but the google appstore is very incoherent, i dont even want to mention the other stores.
i was trying for example, to find resident evil 4 on the samsung store but found streetfighter 4 instead witch i cannot find on the google store nor anywhere.
streetfighter 4 was, by all sources on google first only exclusive for LG devices and then was expanded to some devices in japan, so i shouldnt even see it.
but alright thats the samsung store i dont expect much of that anyway .. but the google store is the same crap basically.
i go on my samsung s4 in the appstore app i press the menu button and select my apps and i got two tabs one says installed the other all.
on the installed tab i should see all apps installed on my device regardless if i got them from the samsung store or any other source i could have also downloaded an apk and installed it manually.
the i open my browser and go to the google app store .. what do i got there? i have on the left a link to my apps now i am supposed to get all my apps listed there ... and also one has that little gear icon witch is there for settings on it there is an option saying MY ORDERS that lists everything i ever purchased from the google appstore.
now the issue is that in the list of my apps on the browser i dont have the same items as on the list that the mobile app store gives me i am missing believe it or not even GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH witch appears on my mobile.
now the most retarded thing about this hole thing is that i got on my device in the all tap listed 2 samsung apps witch are the SAMSUNG HUB and PHOTO EDITOR when i go into details on both i get a message saying this app is not compatible with your device.
i cannot find neither of these apps on the google app store when i use the search embeded in the store app.
if this is really the android system then i take a crap on it. IS IT SO HARD TO MAKE THING COHERENT... I CANNOT IMAGINE ANYTHING SIMPLER IN THE HOLE PROCESS OF DEVELOPMENT OF AN ANDROID SYSTEM. i dont want to get thrown to by all this trash produced by a bunch of different standards different appstores but as you can see also within each store itselt.
I SO REGREAD BUYING THE S4 ILL NEVER CHANGE FROM APPLE AGAIN.
is it really so that in the process of developing a system like android google or samsung or whoever just says ok ... we developed all the core stuff we dont care about the UI just get the thing ready for sale
I've never had problems with it. Try re-installing it.
Edit: Judging by your lack of spelling and such, I'm assuming you're from a different country. That also affects what's available in the Play Store.
Complain about Samsung's App Store to Samsung and complain about Amazon's App Store to Amazon.
Writing an essay *****ing about everything isn't going to fix everything.

i checked all spelling before posting really dont know where you found misspelled words
another thing is that i cannot find google magazines but i can find google books witch is just ridiculous... i want to throw out.
google is in everything they make incoherent and lackish.
i have no idea what is so hard about it but apple seems to be the only electronics company out there that can be trusted trully.
Unfortunately that's not how Google Play works. It's only going to show you what you installed via Google Play because those are they only ones it can determine you legally own. Same goes for the Amazon App store.
Google Play Web has always had issues displaying my apps. I think that's more of a limitation of the Web Developer and/or what they're using.
The issue you're having with the apps not being compatible with your device isn't Google Play's fault but the app developer's fault as they flag what the app is and isn't compatible with.
Funny how you mention Apple does it better but you have to remember there's only one maker of the iPhone so there's no worries about compatibility while there are many makers of Android Phones so compatibility's going to be an issue.

Why are you taking this as an attack? For your information, I don't even own a gaming console. Obviously you're not checking your spelling well enough. Anyway, All those app stores don't tie into each other because they don't share records. I really don't see what the point of this thread was to be honest.
If you're really that dissatisfied quit complaining and go to an iPhone and deal with the issues they have.

Android is about Open Source. Unlike macs proprietary world, android wants you to have the freedom of choice. Unfortunately this means everyone wants to be a choice. There's no reason to try out a million markets. You can usually find what you need in 1. If not, use a search engine, not other markets. Just easier that way.

Lol, sorry, couldn't help myself.
The reason (again) why you might get better sound quality on apple products is because that's 1 company. Android has a ton of different people all trying to be better than the last guy. So they change the way streams sent or how hardware renders or they make a cheap product to make a quick buck. That's a free world, where people are allowed to be cheated, but also where they are allowed to go elsewhere.
Remember, if you own apple...

The best thing to do if you're having trouble is ask. No need to rant or attack companies that aren't reading this.
Just say "hey guys, having trouble finding this for my device which is s4 for this provider. Btw I'm in <country name>, thanks"
This'll help you find what you need.
Also, if you're confused about why markets don't seem synced, ask "how come phone play store shows x apps and web store on pc shows y?"

It's not that they don't it's that they can't. They released Android as an open source project for anyone to use as they see fit. Besides if they attempted to dictate to companies how they had to build their phones and that they all had to be clones of all the others then no one would make them. It is because they're allowed to make their phones they way they want that Android based phones hold more market share than the iPhone.

So you don't want help? Just to complain and promote apple?
Few things:
1. Yes, I am weird, I am OCD, I see things that as you said "no one cares about". I understand how little things can be important. Like how people will value your opinion based on the coherency of your delivery. If me no comprende, then me no nintendo.
2. My understanding of how important the little things are is what prompted me to purchase an android. You think you can't edit system files in apple products? Of course you can. It's not about being able to change the look of my phone. It's about being able to choose to do as I see fit, whether that's change the look, functionality or whatever else occurs to me.
3. By the phrase "apple owns you" what I mean to say is that in purchasing an apple product, you must purchase other apple products which will only be compatible with other apple products. In purchasing their equipment you've lost the freedom of choice. It's all apple. Headphones? Apple. Laptop? Apple. Mp3 player? Apple. Repair shop? Apple. Music player? Apple. Software? Apple.
Android can be used with whatever you prefer. Samsung, sony, htc, etc. The list goes on. This is why I prefer open source. It's about not being stuck in a loop and not being a walking advertisement for products that have been pushed on me rather then those I've selected because I like.
4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That means that different people find different things beautiful. Look at some of the theme forums. Some are incredible, others are meh. To me. Not to the people that are downloading them and loving it.
This is why you think android is worse? Because it doesn't force itself on you? Have you tried windows? They're also commercial and available to everyone. You want something better, check out aosp. That's Android Open Source Project. There you will find much innovation and improvement. It's not android fighting against itself. It's companies trying to make android their own thing for their own reasons. Customer loyalty to what's familiar, a similar experience with their own brand name products.
You ask if we live on the moon for not getting away from that...
Have you even looked at this forum?
Most of what you will find here is about getting away from what all these companies are pushing on their customers. Why do you think people root? Replace roms? Kernels? All these things so we can get the experience that WE want from our devices. Not what the companies have deemed we should have.
You praise apple as the only serious company out there? Either you are gravely misinformed, blissfully ignorant or you're simply trolling.
Have you seen some of the battery performances on this forum? They're ridiculously awesome!
It's not android adding the bloatware, it's the devices manufacturers. Samsung adds Its app and launcher and whatever it wants to its devices, as does every other company out there. They made it, they can sell it how they want.
Apple's done an incredible job, it's come a long way, but it monopolizes itself. That is the only thing I don't like about apple, and is reason enough for me to never purchase their products.
I wouldn't allow such ideology in any other aspect of my life, why would I in this?
If apple makes you happy, great, grab yourself a variant of iphone and live the happy comfortable life of the conformist. Like a consumer slave, nothing to worry about when the masters choose for you

you got some good points there but.. apple ipad i the best apple earpods are the best apple laptops are the best so why would i want to choose something else.
i gurantee you that aple knows that the policy about their products is takeing them a bit portion of the market BUT they dont see any other way to guarantee you quality.
and the reason people change so much firmware is .. bad android on ios i wouldnt even want to change anything nor do i care to do things other than intended.

That's really the question here, I feel; why did you get something besides an apple product in the first place if you are so sold on the apple systems? Clearly there was something about apple you didn't like enough that you ended up getting an android phone instead. You can't argue that apple is the only good choice since after all - you yourself admitted it wasn't by choosing something else in this instance.

That's absolute correct. Feel free to only buy great products in the future, even though you for some strange reason decided to buy something you considered "not great" in this case, and then came to a forum dedicated to changing it to complain about your mistake.
We're very sorry you don't appreciate the phone you bought. The simple solution is to sell it to someone who does and get an iphone instead. iPhones are great products, no doubt, and apparently they are perfect for what you need!
Good luck!

This guy's either a complete moron or a troll and this thread should be locked either way. He obviously isn't here looking for help but to just bash on Android with an "I'm holier then thou" kind of attitude. If you love Apple so much how bout you just stfu and go find someone with an iPhone 5 that wants a S4 and trade with them if you can't exchange it where you bought it for one.
Posted on the GS4 forum too...and got flamed. Just a troll, IMHO!!

I like how the name ends in ".ad" almost as if he's flaunting his sheephood

Actually, I don't think the OP is a troll - he is a frustrated user venting in the wrong place to the wrong people. The OP is mad because he is used to the "it just works" feeling that Apple provides. I can relate to his feelings.
I carried an iPhone for awhile. A 4S. And although I prefer my Android by far, there are a few things that Apple simply does better than anyone. One of them is quality control. As an example, "drive mode" on my current i537. On my S2 I used this all the time. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. No rhyme or reason except buggy Samsung software. When I got my i537, I figured they *must* have fixed drive mode by now... I was wrong. Two years and two versions later it *still* only works only when it feels like it. Apple *usually* would never ship such shoddy software (yes, I know about the maps fiasco, but that is an exception, not the rule with them). There are many other stupid little Samsung bugs on our phone. It is frustrating to have a device that would be just about perfect if they spent a little more time on quality control. I mean, I found some of these bugs less than an hour after booting up my phone for the first time. Makes me wonder how much testing Samsung actually did with this phone before they started shipping...
That's what I thought at first, but instead of explaining his situation clearly (what he's looking for, what he's seeing) and actually asking for help he increases the animosity in his posts and adopts an "apple rulez you droolz!!!" attitude. That's when I decided he was a troll.
If he'd be clearer than "this sucks! Me no understand! I hate you bye!" Maybe he'd get a little more help. He's obviously never seen beyond what's in front of his nose and instead of trying to understand, he becomes angry. I can understand frustration, but there's no need to attack members, companies or anyone for that matter. If you don't understand something, you research, analyze, try a different angle and see what you learn. Not cry about it to whoever happens to stroll by.

exactly right friend but just think that if you can see already so many flaws on the surface just by booting up just think how many flaws there must be on the core programs, making youre device maybe vulnerable for attacks most of them noone probably notices because all google cares about is making things stable not necessarily right.
i just cant believe that even today only one company can be taken for serious and thats apple, i dont think that there has ever been a situation on any market in the world ever in history of mankind ... in economy that nobody cares to deliver a quality product besides one company but that everybody makes profit.
android is just a big prank that keeps itself on the surface by making false promises talking about functionality where there is basicly not so much functionality as they promise.
but what goes completely out of bounds and i cant understand at all is that this is absolutely no problem to fix.
software economy has obviously taken its own dynamic, going on a thin rope of false statements and cheap production i guess.
i have been in egypt this year for holiday and i would never go there again, but still i meet there people that came there for the 5th time i just couldn't believe my mind anymore ... unbelievable.
same counts for android some people just see the obvious and some just like crappy stuff maybe they like to suffer.. makes them feel better.
Like I said, I know how you feel. I'm a perfectionist myself and don't understand either why Samsung doesn't go just a bit further with their testing to work out some of the obvious bugs and flaws in their software. But what you or I might want is unfortunately irrelevant. Samsung hasn't asked for my opinion thus far, and I'd doubt they will anytime soon. So... We get to chose between Apple's relentless pursuit of perfection inside their strictly controlled "walled garden", or the "Wild West" of the Samsung/Android world. I'll take the later, bugs and all. If you chose to do the same, there are people here who will go far out of their way to help you with any issues that come up and only ask for coherency and politeness in return. Give it a try...

Absolutely the worst phone I've ever had

No storage space. The screen will spaz out if there is any moisture in the air. The screen sucks in general. I snapped mine in half. Avoid this phone at all costs.
I am using mine with Tempered Glass and a nice cover and it works like a charm. And about storage, it really depends on how many applications you're using, or how big these apps are. Don't expect high-end performance from a mid-end phone. You get what you pay for.
Its garbage.
I have a 2013 moto g without external SD card and I can put a lot of apps on it. Desire 510 is just a piece of trash. Bottom line.
Idk about you. I have the EU model and I have after a fresh install somewhere around 4GB of space for apps For me it's more than I need using it only for social apps and calls.

Look dude....If you don't like it then why in the world did you bought it? This is a mid-range device, you can't expected to perform like the S7, M10 or G4. It simply wasn't build for it. If you didn't do some research before you bought it...the fault is yours. I knew that the screen wasn't good two weeks before I purchased mine but I also knew that adding a Tampered Glass protection will resolve the issue. The RAM and processor are good, even some very demanding games can run on it (with a few reasonable lags). As for the storage. You can always root it and delete all the bloatware from it. After that I ended up with 3.5 Gb user space. And if even that's not good enough for you...you can always buy a SD card. There are also ways to add the SD card as internal storage, make the apps install on the SD card, move app data to the SD card etc... My point is....always do research before you buy something that you need to rely on every day. If you don't like it, don't buy it, It's simple as that. Don't go on the Internet bashing how something doesn't measure up to your standards. As you can imagine all of us on this forum already know about the downsides of the Desire 510 and we either found a work around for the problem or we simply learned to live with it. I suggest you do the same.
Peace :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Dude first off this pos was given to me. Even so, I hate it. Second do nt cone me like you just gonna chastise me over my opinion of a garbage phone. I didn't read any of it anyways. Don't comment on any more of my posts if it ain't gonna be helpful or I'll report toi to admin. Now get up of my stat and don't ever bother me again with your bs.

Look...I'm sorry if I offended you in some way. I really didn't mean to. (I'm from Europe and the way we talk here is a bit different)
I believe that my previous post was helpful (not much but helpful in a descent way). You also didn't specify what kind of help you need, so my post above was a general advice. But if you need help with anything specific, just ask, I'm sure that me or somebody else from these forums will help you out. And again, I'm really sorry if I offended you in some way.
Theres no way you got 3.5 gigs of user space on an HTC desire 510. Any more stories? And yeah I had the pos rooted and running apps2sd. I deleted all I could and replaced apps with smaller versions. The most space I could come up with was about 750-800 mb. So quit lying dude you sound dumb on a forum all about phones. Did you not read my post where I said that I did have this phone? HAD. Till I smashed it. 3.5 GB my ass. Show me a screenshot of that.

Lmfao @ this thread now.

Eh, lucky number 13 might as well.
Arrogant, ignorant, bullies with a false sense of entitlement, such as yourself are the reason the Devs abandoned this device.

Two things:
1.) You made a typo. I'm assuming "toi" meant to be "it".
2.) Denny's posts are the only things useful about this thread. This thread is more garbage than the phone that you claim to be garbage. XDA is a place for innovation and expansion, not complaining. If you wanna complain like a stereotypical teenage girl, get an Instagram and blab on that. Nobody wants to hear your crap.
