Of course you can do it by yourself. Others do that too. Just search for tutorial, play around a bit.

Then ask for help on specific things. Search the forums, there are millions of tutorials. Your rom won't get anywhere if you don't start before you have a team.

Hey guys.. I start this thread to see where do you know all what you know about phone developing... Maybe that's your passion? Maybe you learn all from school? Or by internet? I'm young (15 years old) and i like all rom for our ace, I'm really surprised for what some dev are doing (like Maclaw, but not only) and i like mobile world in general .. I'd like to become a dev... For now what i can do is modify some Rom managing on their zip and add or remove app.. Odin, how to root and install recovery and Rom is easy for me..

how to root, how to flash, know how to compile and decompile, some adb ...

I've running my own rom, and hi got some mods of my own, some theming from other members, my own tweaks, and its been a great adventure and i only own an android since November and i am no genius or great developer, but i am really curious, and I'm only five year older than u!
All u have to do is search, ask, and LEARN
go for it!

I want to be a developer too.
I'm trying to port a ROM of a LG-P500 for our Xperia X8, but does not work. Both have the same CPU (ARMv6) and the same chipset (Qualcomm MSM7227) but I can not make it work. All my attempts have not left the boot animation. Does anyone know any tutorial that works with our X8? Thanks for the replies and sorry for bad english, I am Brazilian.

U should be active searching about:
- 'how to build custom rom'
and ask advice from the dev after u tried.
If you're asking a questiob like this without doing any research you are better not building a custom rom..

i did research but i need more information, that can really help a newbie to build a custom rom, get it?
If you want to get a proper answer, be more specific. What you did exactly? That way someone will be actually able to help you. Imagine you go to shoe store, and yell at the door "I want shoes!!!" Sounds retarded isn't it?

there's plenty tutorials on matter of cooking roms, if you can't understand them, then i feel sorry for you...
Anybody here at ob devs make a gratitude to let me know abt developng OB custom rom by self ..
Thinks such as choosing a baserom , mod rom , add / delete apps , themes etc..
Pls help by ur valuable feedback or direct to a topic of Optimus black rom development. Because i hav gone through general topic while i need help on OB..

Everything is easier if you have a linux distro to use Kitchen, you can use kitchen with windows, but Linux is most recommended, with the kitchen it´s easy to learn by yourself, in this therad:
Dsixida´s Kitchen: Here, you have everything that you must know about the kitchen and infos to make your first costum ROM.
