Sprint Store Screen Protector Quality - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I really hate applying screen protectors and I always seem to mess it up. I know Sprint will apply it if you buy it from them. ANyone have experience with their protectors?

Yeah, the only ones that had at sprint when I bought mine turned out to be the square type that JUST cover the active screen portion. This significantly reduces the effectiveness of the S-Pen. (It catches on the side, making it rather hard to write or do anything closeto the edges of the screen for me.)
I recommend one of the better designed ones that covers more of the bezels so that your spen doesnt get caught up around the sides.

For what it's worth, I got the Sprint protectors and they are good but only cover the actual screen.
If you want to apply your own, turn the shower on the hottest setting for 10 minutes and then turn it off. Apply the screen protector in your bathroom now. The steam pulls the dust out of the air and allows you to get a perfect placement

Thanks guys, I'll just take it to the Ghost Armor kiosk in the mall...they'll do it for me.

I'm running that one for now until zagg makes hd for it. It is not that bad in my opinion, it's smooth and clear. But it only covers screen and gets really bad micro scratches but those aren't noticeable with the screen on. Also the aforementioned possibility of the pen catching it when near the edges. Pen runs smooth across it though. Comes with 2 clear and a matte one.

Best Buy already has the HD Zagg, I think it was $25, not 100% positive on that, may be $20. Saw it in there store in the mall a few days ago but didn't have the funds on me to grab it, planning to go back.

Really? Sweet I'll have to check it out Went in last week when i got this and asked if they have any cases/screen protectors for it and they said hell no we don't even have the phone yet lol. They just had the Samsung guy in demoing the phone that day

Forget the Zagg's they are garbage took mine back next day for my money back. They didn't keep in mind that this phone has an s-pen and i leaves lines and anything you draw indented in the shield and they dont come out. Get the spigen oleophobic ones from amazon, they are a 2 pack for 15.99.

I got some Sprint store ones to get me by until my Spigen ones get here, they are not very impressive. I have no performance issues, but it has been like 4 days and it covered with scratches, it actually scratched when I was putting it on and getting the air bubbles out.

I'm looking at these myself...have a question for you. Do you know if these have an actual matte finish or are they smooth/clear? I can't decide whether to go with these or the Ultra Crystal from them or the Ultra Oleophobic. I'd rather a smooth, clear, unnoticeable finish rather than a matte finish.

They are supposed to be crystal clear. I hate the matte finish because it just defeats the purpose of having a high definition phone.

My thoughts exactly. Just not sure why anyone would go with the Crystal instead of the Oleophobic if they're both clear but one is oil resistant.

pretty sure the crystal is more scratches resistant than th oleo one

Looking for results on screen protectors with spen usage

I have read through the other screen protector thread and I feel like it's just a mess to read through because it's people either simply stating what they ordered or SSHguru from just like glass suggesting his product or talking back and forth with people about the orders. Just like glass is definitely one of the protectors I am considering as well as possibly looking at the SPIGEN SGP protectors.
I have not used a screen protector on a phone in a few years but due to the screen being so big and not being able to get insurance on the phone this time I feel a screen protector is wise. I just want to make sure it will not hinder the use of the spen. I am no artist and can barely draw a stick figure or even write with a pen for that matter, I just have horrible handwriting. So as long it still functions correctly I am happy with it.
I am thinking of adding a pole to this with the ones most recommended.

I am using Just like glass, I also have horrible handwriting and cant drew worth crap! (even my stick figures are bad!) It is a great product!! and SSHguru (AKA Scott) Is great as far as responding to emails and posts / concerns. That being said the protector I relived is a little short (Files where too big to upload!) and it sounds like he had an issue with the manufacturer. So I would wait until that gets figured out before ordering!

Ok thanks! And that was one of the reasons I am interested in his JLG, it just became hard to read through everything since it turned more into a thread about his protector and why to buy no others as well as him supporting people. His support is great from what I was reading. I just wanted to get the ball rolling on a thread that is about actually using the protectors and how they have worked out for people so far on all brands. I know zagg is something I will go no where near.

Actually just got an email from Scott "We actually got a real Note II and laser scanned it.
The new cut is shipping to you today.
Thanks for the help!
Scott"
So I cant be positive until I receive it but assuming it is the right fit I would very highly recommend it!
I went ahead and ordered one.
I got the zag invisible shield on today. It takes 24 hrs to dry. So I will let you know once it dries.

The invisishield hd is a no go for stylus users. My brother had one on his and the sketch he did with it is permanently on his screen protector now.

I'm using the Spigen Ultra Crystal and despite it not covering the screen entirely I love it. It's virtually unnoticeable other than the fingerprints that it collects, which is something you'll see with all screen protectors(I had issues even on my oleophobic that I had on my GS2). The stylus works just as well as it did before I put the protector on it and there are zero marks on it from the stylus since I've been using it(5 days)
I'm using a Spigen Ultra Oleophobic and, in retrospect, I wish I'd left my Ultra Crystal on. The Ultra Crystal was all but invisible aside from the fingerprints that wipe off cleanly, whereas fingerprints on the Ultra Oleophobic leave behind a film that makes the fact that you're using a screen protector painfully obvious. All things considered, I should have stayed with the Ultra Crystal, and it's only my desire to not give up on a $7.50 screen protector ten days after getting the phone (as I did with my Ultra Crystal) keeps the Ultra Oleo on there.
That being said, I use my S Pen regularly, and neither Spigen protector ever showed signs of wear or marking from the S Pen. I did have an Xtreme Guard screen protector on there for a few days after getting the phone, and it was badly marked up by the S Pen. My theory is that wet-apply protectors are just a bad idea with the Note 2, as gooey plastic (which is basically what they are) is prone to being scratched up and dragged around by pointy objects.
I use the same material used on cars for their clear bras. S pen works fine, and it's very tough. I use it on my iPad 3 as well. Never buying screen protectors again. Lol

No marks have been left on it with my s pen. It is not as smooth as writing on the screen though. I am happy.

This is completely bogus. I had two zaggs on my Note 2, one replaced by Best Buy because the S-Pen marks were so profound, the second removed because it happened to the improved Zagg... Even with the second being a Zagg HD, I was 100% let down by this product. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
The SGP Ultra Crystal is, by far, the best available, as far as the S-Pen goes. It's just too hard for it to even think about leaving marks. That being said, I am eagerly awaiting my new re-cut just like glass to see if it's all that it's cracked up to be. If not, I will be certain to let you know... and subsequently go back to a SGP Ultra.

Has anyone noticed any delay/lessened sensitivity issues with either the SGP or JLG screen protectors? It's awesome that the note 2 has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity (I'm assuming it's built into the spen), but I wouldn't want a screen protector getting in the way of that.

I wouldn't do that...you WILL get marks on it...I can almost guarantee it. I too had the Zagg HD and after a few days use, there were s pen marks all over it. Initially it seemed like a great protector...actually, without the s pen it would be. However, if you look at your screen with it turned off you can see marks all over it. Go with xtremeguard, Just Like Glass or Spigen...any one of those will hold up better and they are all quite a bit less expensive.

I don't much care how the screen looks while off.
I don't really use the pen much either, just don't want that rubbery feel (OG Zagg) when I do.
As far as price, I don't really care as long as I get what I want. Also, working at Best Buy has its advantages

[Complaint] S-Pen and SPIGEN SGP Steinheil Series [Ultra Optics]

Got the SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Screen Protector Steinheil Series [Ultra Optics] today. The Spigen site says that Ultra optics is supposed to be like the middle path between a matt finish and the non-matt. Just affixed it on the sgn2 and that went very well. No bubbles at all. But and this is a big BUT...when i tried the S-Pen on it... My God... was I in for a rude shock. It was like writing with a screw driver on quick sand scrub (used in the construction industry). The point it is that it was very unpleasant and rough - not to mention the squeaky noise that the screen makes everytime i touch the screen. it is very infuriating. I got the best cause i wanted it to be good...wasn't expecting this very sad. i wish they had atleast mentioned the squeeky sound in their website. so i though i should let you guys know before you end up buying this. oh by the way it costed me $21 with shipping and $21 is certainly expensive for a screen protector
I am planning to write to them. if there is any positive response i will post back.
Update 1: i have left a review on their website and also wrote to their customer support. will update if anything turns out. if no further updates then it means that they did not respond.
update 2 - going by the feedback here, i have to wait for a couple of days. will get back thereafter
update 3 - after a week the position has improved slightly. it is now like writing on coarse paper instead of sand paper. the underlying point is if you use your spen often, dont use this screen protector. the manufacturer has not gotten back to me inspite of me leaving a scathing review on their website with a pointer to this post. very disappointing service. i am going back to zagg

<gasp> it leaves marks on the screen!!! i was in a dark room so i didnt notice that...my emphasis was on the feel of the s-pen on the film. your advice does not refer to that. does that improve or is it still screwdriver on sandpaper? the noise is unacceptable. i am a lawyer and imagine the reaction in a very silent court room if someone keeps making noises like changing corduroy pants...
bummer on your experience... I put the Steinheil Ultra Optics on my GNote2 two weeks ago... and honestly it's been the best screen-protector I've used. SPEN works perfect (no drag, sluggish, no marks). I used my Note2 naked the first few days of ownership... and performance is the same after install of the Ultra Optics. Maybe you got a defective one. Did you try the 2nd screen protector they provide?

When I put mine on I almost took it right off after trying the spen. But I noticed that the pen worked fine on a small part of the screen where I had rubbed some spec off. I gave the entire protector a good rub down with the cleaning cloth and it worked fine after that. It had some coating on it that dragged on the pen, but luckily it came off.

Did things improve?
From Spigen's website (FAQ section):
Q. Which type would you recommend to use with the S-Pen?
A. We would recommend using the Ultra Crystal and the Oleophobic for great clarity and compatibility. Since the Ultra Fine and Optics provides great matte quality, it does have a textured coating which may interfere with senstivity of the pen.
They suggested their non-matte protectors for use with the s-pen. I have the Ultra Crystal installed and it works perfectly with the s-pen.

Lucky me, I saw it before I decided to get the ultra crystal.
I have the ultra crystal
pros:
+Cant tell its there unless im looking for it since it does leave a fraction of the screen exposed and can see the edge of the screen protector.
+Works fine with the S-Pen
+So far mine has been on my phone for 2 months and showing no peeling yet.+Works fine with the S-Pen
+Comes with 2!
cons:
-not a big deal but it does leave smudges but cleans easily
Its the only one screen protector I've purchased for my note II but I highly recommend it
Have at one time/device or another owned and tried each model for Captivate, Infuse, GSII, Note 1 and Note II.
I wish they (Spigen) made a removable/reusable anti-glare model like the iVisor AG because my needs for matte finish is only temporary, but prefer the Ultra-Crystal to the Oleo phobic and plan on applying the iVisor atop of it on when I'm in the FL Keys next month for boating GPS needs. Hopefully they don't polarize each other out? S-Pen works fine
My only complaint is that the Ultra Crystal doesn't completely cover the screen like earlier models. I have heard certain case owner complain about their screen protectors getting ruined, and maybe that is why Spigen shrunk their stencil?
Does anyone know if other Spigen models cover screen more?
I have the same screen protector. The noise doesnt bother me... but it does bother my wife (which sometimes doesnt bother me ). I love how it is the best that I have ever used when it comes to preventing fingerprints. I rarely have to clean it off since it rarely displays fingerprints. This is a big plus to me and makes it worth putting up with the noise.

I have to agree. The spigen crystal clear has been the BEST screen protector I've ever used and seen. A friend of mine has a just like glass screen protector on his and I like it too, it's a close second to the spigen but it doesn't cover the whole screen area well (left to right) it's a little short on each side.

i'm not a materials expert but i think screen protectors will only prevent scratches, not cracks. ( i think someone explained the difference between hardness and toughness in a different thread)
anyway, the forum favorites are spigen, and a new one called just like glass. search for em, plenty of threads talk about them.
if you want crack protection, what you're hunting for is a good case...and considering your history, i'd say go for the otterbox defender.
seen the threads on them... right now the JLG looks good
my main problem is what type to buy, not the brand (also an issue but lesser one)
DRY vs WET vs GLASS, thats the issue
as for cracks... never killed a screen (S1, S2 , Note1...) but i see people who does and also as i see it the new gorilla 2 glass is... well... not that good
Mode of installation doesn't really tell you much about the screen protector.
Zagg/bse/ghost armor/etc are all wet install, just like jlg but they are completely different categories of screen protector.
swyped all these spelling errors from my galaxy note 2
Go with JLG. No problem with the spen and it dont feel like rubber on your finger. The only thing is the rainbow effect but it just happen for me with the screen off.
Realook is the best. http://www.ebay.com/itm/REALOOK-Sam...046765?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a7bea296d
Again, everyone's opinion varies.
The best surface is glass; if you want to glide your fingertips on a oem like silky smooth surface. Glass also has endurance, unlike polymers, one glass protector can last the life of your phone; and yet remain virtually undetectable.
I am using xgear, the voyager 2 to cover my gnote..and I must say...it has garnered blatantly covetous stares along with many serendipitous glances. It's as though I'm running round in my birthday suit.
I'll never skin my baby with plastic. ....I'd rather go..naked!
Ok..ok..enough phone perv..spigen has apparently also finally decided to show some note 2 love......

All you need is a case, in my humble but accurate opinion glass protectors are useless. It's like putting a black bra on a White Ferrari.

Not really the best of analogies, but yeah, for most of the stuff the "Ferrari" would go through, the "bra" would protect it and I'd rather have the bra be damaged and replaced later. Unless it's a collision, in which case of course, no amount of bras will protect the car.
Of course we all would prefer them without the bra, but most times, the bra is necessary to keep them in prestine shape, especially in the long run, so whenever the bra is taken off, they will still looks nice and perfect.
+1 for JLG!! been wonderful for me, & great DEV!! Just do a search!
[/QUOTE]Which case are you using with the glass protector?[/QUOTE]
I've just been using an oem flip cover. Not much protection away from carpeted floors or a coat pocket am afraid. I'm considering some real world protection myself.
The glass sits just to the inside of the phones metal band. It adds .4mm and the glass edge is beveled.
To see if a particular case might fit, take a look at the Xgear site. They show a couple of cases they sell for the S3 that might help provide some guidance with chosing a compatible case for the N2 fitted with a glass protector. Wish I had more for you, but the bleeding edge can't be all fun and game.....

This is the only screen protector brand I would get for my phones.

I personally think all these screen protectors either wet or dry are supplied by probably a dozen major manufacturers in Asia so the difference in most of them are packaging/marketing. I like dry installs, they are straightforward with less chance of screwup plus the fact you'd be exposing your $700 device with water and soap?
Something like this Korean PET based dry install, same as posted in this thread at 3x less, it's what I have for the gn2 and n7

If you want absolute full screen protection, but don't care about using your s pen then go spigen or zagg. If you want absolute clarity, solid protection and a smooth surface that will not get marked up by your s pen, but does not cover every square mm of your screen, then get JLG. If you just want cheapo then you got the wrong phone

Uh what? I think you mean something like Invisishield. Spigen works just fine without any scratches from the SPen
Scribbled with the Note II
I use the cheap xtreme guard protectors from eBay, 4 bucks shipped for front and rear and provides a little extra grip, wet application and the s pen works great with it.

Ismooth is so Disappointing! Doesnt even cover the whole screen!

I am really hoping I received a defective batch! I see the ISMOOTH has some good reviews and I have no idea why? I even went back to the box and made sure my ismooth was made for the note 2 cause I thought it was an error and meant for the note 1. Attached are some pics. As you can see it does not come close to edge to edge coverage. Or top to bottom for that matter...
There supposed to be like that cause of the curved screen on the note.

It looks like ir protects the screen just not the entire front. The reason its uneven on home button is from lookin at the 2 pics that shiw it on each side of screen. The protector was applied uneven. Its to far to the left

...
You're joking, right? Only a very select few screen protectors cover to the edge of the Note II. This is because of the curved glass on the Note II; the edges of the screen protector would never adhere to the curved part, and you'd be replacing them in a matter of days because they'd peeled up.
Please read at the least pinned screen protector review thread, which mentions this several times, before slamming a screen protector with a ridiculous complaint based upon your not reading.
*Edit: And based upon your asymmetric installation.

I am not joking at all! My ismooth is nothing like the one in the installation video. Mine did not have the greenish cover to make sure it alligns properly. Yes, my ismooth is installed a little to the left but that still doesnt come near the left edge. I am coming from a tech armor which covers the whole screen
The ones with the greenish cover are the bad ones. You want the newer ones with no green cover.

My ismooth was a top install and not a bottom istall like the video. If it was too far to the left then this top would look horrible!

Then why post if you deny the replies. The curved glad part will make your screen protector peel if it stretches across the whole glass. Not to mention if you use a case those will peel it off if you use a good case.

And those are all non traditional (peel and stick) installs. Plus, the s-pen literally annihilates those. I got a Zagg HD when I got this phone. It was so marred in 3 weeks that the Zagg kiosk that I bought it from let me flat out return it!
Sure, these don't go to the edge of the screen. If you want one that does, search for the Voyager 2 by xgear. After shipping its around $40 but it looks awesome. I have a Chinese knockoff that works great too, but the black has glitter which is very annoying so it is not on my phone right now.
Out of dry, traditional installs, iSmooth is the best bang for your buck. Quality of SGP ultra crystal (or at least the next best thing to it), the rainbow effect isn't too bad on it since its a horizontal rainbow throughout, and it has a lifetime warranty even if you screw up the install.

You see, the Note 2 (and*Galaxy S3) phones are very difficult when it comes to Screen Protectors. As you probably know, the very edges of these Samsung phones are curved and due to the curve,*it creates issues with "lifting." *Not on all the phones, just a small percentage of them (~%5).
I am looking forward to receiving these that cover the whole screen.
Thanks for all your valuable input everybody.

Anyone going to go bare without a screen protector?

I pre ordered my note 8 with Verizon and it came in yesterday!
I have the spigen kick stand case on it now. Got it from Amazon prime for 17 bucks and it's great. Makes the phone easier to handle.
I have the cheap plastic screen protector that came on the phone in the box. Really can't decide on a screen protector. I hate the wet application ones and the dry adhesive tempered glass always bubble. Thinking about going raw....any one else?
I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow but none of my accessories are here and I ordered the phone after the accessories. I wouldn't do it only because of some of the complaints of the s8 and scratches on the screen. There's some screen protector that I'm gonna try that is supposed to be a hybrid between regular protectors and tempered. Hopefully I can order that soon but I'm gonna have to use the one in the box or a temporary tempered glass on it

I am,in place of a screen protector,I'm using a liquid sealer.
Here's one that's relatively inexpensive:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Phone/165968396
https://www.walmart.com/ip/NanoBlot-Liquid-Screen-Protector-Tablet/112875380
And another that costs a bit more, but, good for several applications:
https://www.nanoflowx.com/spraygard
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nanoflow-X-...tector-PROTECTS-UP-TO-16-PHONES-/172590962858
Do these sealers work?
That's debatable, but,I've been using several different brands for about two years & while it is impossible to prove a negative I haven't had a single blemish on any of my phones for 2+ years.
Do not mistake this stuff as an equal replacement for a screen protector,it's merely providing scratch resistance, nothing in regards to breakage.
I don't recommend these sealers to everyone, especially to those who are prone to exposing their phones to scratching (using the phone w/dirty fingers/exposed to the elements/dropping/typically careless in regards to pocketing/pursing with items that may scratch on a regular basis,etc...)
I don't baby my phone, but,I do take care to keep it in a pocket holster while @ work & in a neoprene sleeve most other times.
For me,a screen protector is not necessary,so,I use a sealer for added protection against scratching.
Some think they're snake oil & TBH,I don't blame 'em,but,I loathe screen protectors as a whole,less a perfectly installed factory one,as w/the Huawei Mate 9,you'd be hard-pressed to notice.
I wish a factory-installed protector was an option, perhaps I'd be more inclined to use one, provided it didn't have the looks akin to a protective bra on a car circa 1980-1990.........................

With my first Note 7 I used Sharkproof "snake oil" and like you was very careful with daily handling. For the 4 weeks (!) i had my first Note 7 I had no issues. The only issue I had was that Sharkproof made the screen too slippery. For my third Note 7, the second was a swapped device from Samsung which went on eBay, I used Samsung's OEM screen protector. On the whole this was a great option as the S Pen worked well and was more effective than gel/TPU type and I managed not to waste money searching for the holy grail of the tempered glass solution. For the Note8, Samsung have not made available their own screen protector.
EDIT : And so for the Note8, I'm going to have to waste money on TPU/Gel like protectors until Samsung....

You would have social services take my phone in to protective custody, if you saw how I treated it.
Was just looking at my S7E screen, thinking "that's actually
pretty good, for its age". Then remembered I smashed it and had it replaced a month ago.
I have a case on it now...
My problem with screen protectors: Every one I've used has looked and felt worse than the micro scratches it might prevent.

LMFAO,you sound like one of my friends from my youth who handled LP's as if they were Frisbee's on a good day & more like a Zildjian on a drum solo..... ?
Does the S8 have the same gorilla glass the Note 8 will have?
I was so hopeful that i could forego the screen protector on this one but from reading this thread i doubt it.
Last note I had was the 4 and i had the screen crack on me.
no matter how many people say they got no scratches, never go without protector. they are either blind, lie or can't place the phone in right angle to see those scratches.
i always buy protectors because of the scratches and not because the screen could crack.
on my s4 which has gorilla glass 3. i haven't had a protector for the last year after using always the same protector 3 years before.
since then there aren't any hard scratch on the display or anything but i notice alot of fine micro scratches but only when i put heavy light on it and hold it in the right angle.
i have used it much, but mostly at home and also kept care of it. still it happened.
as far as i know and have read this isn't any better on the newest gorilla glas 5. so i will not risk anything and keep on using protectors.
for the note i just simply can't find anything good.
whitestone dome on the s8 was good, but overpriced, not friendly for every case, popped up after a few months or just cracked very fast.
not good enough for this kind of money otherwise it would be good is guess.
all other glass protectors are useless since they only stick to the sides and will force problems like bad touch, dirt underneath or popping up very fast.
then there are wet tpu protectors which i don't like. they are too thin and flexible. they just don't feel right, leave marks quickly and often got a yellow touch or rainbow effect.
also they will probably not stick long on the edges and are mostly not case friendly even if they say so.
so the only thing which i consider are the good old school tpu/pet protectors which are applied without any water or so.
i hope they will stick good on the edges and if they are case friendly nothing will pop up.
it's a little bit harder to get all the bubbles out but i rather put some time into placing the protector right and remove the bubbles then buying every few weeks a new one or even go without any.
of course they will also feel kinda cheap like plastic (it is plastic afterall) but atleast they are not so thin and flexible like the wet tpu ones.
for now i will try this one and hope it will be good. if not well then im fuc*ed cause i can't find anything else!! (

Bare always feels great!
However, the cuts and scratches really detract. Insurance will not cover that as normal wear and tear. So, for the first time, I'm wrapping mine up. hehe
