So Dumb........... - LG Optimus 4X HD

Omg why Optimus 4x is so Dumb Mobile in forums. It has all Awesome specs Equal to One X and S3 Of course S3 Is Awesome :fingers-crossed:
What I wanna know.
Why is Optimus 4x not listed in Top Mobiles It has good quadrant standards Better than One X and equal to S3, But why this Optimus Big man Suck.
All I know No open Boot loader (**** Lg Sucks in this Support) But I have 2x Which became popular even before it is released:highfive: I suppose><.
And reason I like Lg Awesome Quality and Service For Low Price.
And reason I hate Lg Worse Software support (Reason: Lg Did not comment on when 4X will have Jellybean And if this is case We will never get Lime Pie), I swear I completely bought this mobile hoping Cynogenmod Will highlight this Big Boss, But I am sad when the News came, P880 may or may not have Unlocked boot loader(http://cafe.naver.com/androidhacker/487(Translate IT)), Guys I wanna make this Mobile competitive to S3 Common Devs.

So don't complain and search for good devs experienced in Tegra.. the bounty and cash for the phone are waitin.
When the bootloader goes unlocked, our device will be for sure in top.

Even with locked bootloader and the sh*tty camera, I wouldn't change the O4X for any Shaysung or iFone
Not that I'm LG addicted, its in this case, its a question of design. O4X is one of the few phones in the market with solid, simple and atractive design.
Not forgetting that is a great device with a good performance.

I couldn't agree more. I had been out-of-contract on my last phone (HTC Desire S) for 6 months but there was nothing out there I wanted enough to take a new contract. The 880 changed all that - it has everything on my wish-list - removable battery, SD-Card, and it looks good. I don't want a phone to look like a pebble or a bar of soap. I want it to look like it does. Even if we never get an unlocked bootloader, I can handle this phone for the next 18 months or so on Stock.

Very cool answer. I agree with you man

I think LG designs well and they have good specd phones. Ibelieve many people like their phones, we are just skeptical because of their non-chalance with updates. I played with this phone last week and I love it but I don't think I will buy it just because of the lack of update issue.

P880 the best phone i have used yet, infact all the LG phones ive used. User experience with Samsung phones are just incomparable to LG, putting aside their designs.
Btw LG started making electronics way before Samsung did.

this is my first LG phone, and so far it is very likable. A few years back I wanted to buy KM900 and I bought iPhone 3G. I went from Nokia N97 to wifes iPhone 3G, for which she said that she does not want to use it. What a blessing that was going from Nokia to iPhone. The only good thing about N97 was its battery time, camera and speaker. I did not regret from going from Nokia to Apple it since it is working until today.Last year when I first wanted to upgrade because of the camera to something with flash and more than 2MP I wanted Optimus 2X, I had it for a review, but did not like its back and slow camera.Somehow I could not get used to Android either. Starting this year I really liked Optimus Black, but they sold all of them, so when I was in Barcelona on February, I saw Optimus 4X. But the iphone 5 was suppose to be launched soon.Nothing happened with Apple, so during waiting I was checking out S3, 4S.After iPhone came out I did not want to get in the line, and also somehow, the price issue and availability
of the iPhone 5 made me think twice. I own my old iPhone 3G, but after years of using it it was time to change. Waiting for iPhone and than paying for it 729€ was not an option, I needed a new phone, so I decided to buy Optimus 4X. Camera could be faster doing the autofocus thing or shutter, but I think that can be solved with an upgrade. If someone knows something, some fix, please send me a pm. Panorama could be made with 8MB not just in VGA mode, could be solved with firmware also. So far I like it for the same reasons most of you guys-girls do.

I choose this over a S3 due to the shape, I like a brick phone, I dont want a "pebble" , had a LG phone before and hated it, but I gave this a go, I love the phone, I do find my S2 screen was a bit more sensitive to touch then this and a few software niggles, but hardware its good and has good scope if we can unlock its full potential!

Anyway,
I will not say Samsung sucks or is best because samsung s3 too have update issues, Orizon s3 do not have unlocked bootloader, And to say frankly i myself hate similar shapes of s3, And i think u guys should watch this video on xda TV.
Samsun hate developers using there devices, They don't know why. But actually samsung became so famous only because developers.
Here is the video link:laugh::highfive:

[Q] Vote - I will not buy another LG!

Given the ridiculous delay of the Gingerbread release for the Optimus Black, which most of us bought partly due to the promise of 2.3 - Please vote below ONLY if you are an Optimus Black owner, waiting for Gingerbread.
Would you buy another LG Android device ever?
1.Yes
2.No
3.Maybe
Y, maybe. This weak support is general for all brands HTC, LG..
Yes. My OB runs fine on V11c. Using TW Launcher 4.5 and it runs almost as fast as my Atrix 4G. Just wait. . . "Good things come,to those who wait".
Motorola Atrix 4G
Y, maybe.... I ecperience the same thing with my LG P500, but still I bought Optimus Black... LG usually offers lower price compare to other brand with same hardware spec... About the software, just wait for custom ROM...
no..never big mistake with ob
i want to buy LG TV and curious of LU6200 , so i won't vote.. sorry
my answer is probably yes...
although the android 2.3 of optimus black seems willing to be released late,
the phone is still functioning perfectly with lg original rom or nova 8...
LG made a perfect little phone aside from the delay on the software. The phone works fine with 2.2. GB is a bonus at least for me.

Perfectly means 100% and noone can agree on that. I guess you wont update to 2.3 then when it comes out? And what if there was no nova? you cant defend LG just because we were lucky to get nova.

Well there was a time when everyone hated samsung and swore the same thing. Look at them now. Universally aclaimed as the best phone on the market 5 months running.

the optimus black looks good, stylish, has great specs and a competitive pricetag... a very decent phone to own. i should say yes, but no... never. i will never buy another lg phone because of same reasons other people posted above.
it depends, I'm waiting until mid October to see if they keep their promise.
If GB is not out before at this date, it means that LG cannot be trust ("soon in GB" in their ads) so I would never buy LG anymore.
Apart from the bad sound quality(music over headphone jack) i cannot say a single thing that's not acceptable for me.
Also, with Launcher PRO it's a pretty usable device, and you have to count in that at this price point there isn't any competitor on the market. Oh btw you shouldn't care about 2.3(almost a year old) at this point, but you should care if there'll ever be 2.4!
Hell no
Lying to their customers is the worst they can do. They should never compromise the trust we gave to them.
I will save up and buy the nexus line after this. Fool me once LG, but not anymore.

4x hd....g2x all over again?

Guys I am seriously considering this phone, but I am seeing some similarities (of the bad kind) between this and the g2x.
Now Im not talking meltdown, but this is an lg phone and from tha same optimus family.
I was with the g2x from day one and am fully versed on the bs lg pulled with us on that phone.
Are there any current owners who had the g2x and are starting to see trends for this?
Also is any one using this on at&t?
Would really like some honest opinions comparing the two( i dont mean spec wise because yeah hd screen quad core etc of course its hardware wise better)
IM picking up an lg hd nitro as a backup phone ( yes its true im a phone junkie and my habbit seems to be getting worse...) because I switch phones...a lot..and tired of going with out a phone for a week or so.
Any ways, I did try to search for similar threads but came up with nothing.
Lg claimed this screen was the shizzle of all phones....opinions? (yes I know there is a phone screen thread but may as well include this who knows maybe someone else was wondering the same)
How has lg been with this phone support wise, releasing drivers(i know I know stupid question and right now youre asking if im trolling you), I see there are some issues with root.
ANyways thanks guys.
No issues with root, we have root already.
Now we are working on cracking/bypassing the bootloader lock so we can flash ROMs.
LG Optimus 4X was the first phone as far as I know to be shown with CM10 running. We also have one of the Virtuous Devs with one of these now who will be helping with CM10, so I'm really excited about the ROMs this phone will see.
In terms of support we have already had 2 or 3 three updates since launch, but tbh, I'm not too worried as once we get the bootloader/recovery sorted I'll be loading CM10 onto my phone, which already seems to be better supported than my Sensation ever was with them.
I own a g2x, I know all its ills. But still decided for o4x. I don't regret. It looks good. Hardware matches feature to feature with s3 and ones with better pricing at least a couple of hundred dollars less. LG hardware is more robust than HTC and Samsung as per my experience. Also not to forget O2x/g2x got very strong developers. They are already warming up for o4x.

I have had LG OP2x which had many problems.
I had exactly same worries as you have now when I thought about buying this phone.
But this phone runs flawlessly and I haven't noticed any of the problems that was on the 2x.
The 2x started to lag and freeze about 60 hours of uptime, while this phone have reached 200 hours of uptime without any complains.
The only thing I wish was better in this phone is the camera and in my opinion the picture quality from the 2x's camera was better.
It is a great phone
Best regards

My only concern on similarity between O2X and O4X is they both use Tegra.
Powerful chip, but it seems difficult to develop, lack of support from maker and handset vendor itself.
I hope it will be much easier now for Tegra3.

Ok so here is my longish answer to your question
1. I always loved Android but the early phones like the Galaxy S and the Mytouch were laggy and buggy.
2. When the G2x came out it was a step forward. But it was buggy as hell. It was superb when it worked but it didn't work that often. The Weapon ROM fixed things but it still had issues.
3. The Galaxy SII was the first stable, reliable Android that I remember.
4. The Galaxy Nexus was the first phone that could rival the smoothness of the Iphone. Finally, Android did it. There could be no more criticism of Android being slow and buggy or laggy. Jelly Bean made it even better.
5. Then the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X upped the ante even more. These phones are the top two phones in the world.
6. So, I got a LG 4x HD the other day because I got a good deal. So because of everything I typed above I was a little worried that LG would make another buggy phone. Well there is nothing to worry about. This phone is smooth. Very smooth. It rivals the Galaxy S3 and the One X in every way. It is not laggy, it hasn't slowed up or rebooted on me once and I have been using nonstop for four days.
But it is now also my favorite phone ever. I just like the way it looks better than Galaxy S3, Xperia S and the HTC One X. I like the physical buttons at the bottom too and the full size sim card slot, removable battery and Micro SD card slot. I have used all the top phones and this is just as good, ask me what is better between the LG 4X HD and the Galaxy S3 and I would say you are splitting hairs, they are pretty equal. Maybe the Galaxy S3 is a little more polished but the difference is negligable. The screens are close but I choose the 4x's screen by a tad. It really is a beautiful screen. I can't think of a single complaint I have about the LG 4x HD. It is a pleasure to use and I can't stop playing with it.
I can't wait til T-Mobile does their refarming in the US so I can use it on 3g/4g too. Wifi is fine for now though.
My score for the LG 4X is a 10 out of 10. It isn't hyperbole either. I put the Apex Launcher on it, switched things to my liking and now I am in love with this phone.

Getting my 4X in a couple of days - What should I look out for?

Hey guys, and girls,
I am due to pick up my 4X in a couple of days and I was wondering is there anything I need to check on the phone before leaving the shop.
My One X, which will still be my main phone, had a few issues when released. We had a checklist of things to check just to make sure the handset was in top order before we left the shop. Is there anything like that I should be wary of. I don't want to get home and sudden find out that x or y is a common fault with the handset and a quick check in store before I left could have saved me a headache.
Cheers.
EDIT: I know this is a question and has grounds to have been posted in the Q&A section. I thought since it was more a general question I would post it here. But if the mods wish to move it over to Q&A that is cool

I don't know about any problems with the device that could be checked in store (actually I don't know about any problems it could have)
The only thing that you could possibly check is that if you press the border and the center of the back (and also the place where your fingers will be) slightly it should not feel like there is a little gap between the back and the phone (not a big issue but I nearly went mad about this with my 2X)

Well I personally think LG makes great phones besides their bad software but actually with their 4X they made a pretty decent job out of the box. And they 4X is a great phone. And since LG has so much a bad reputation. Their phones are way cheaper. The LG 4X is better then the One X and in par with the S3 screen wise I would say the one x has the best then just barely a difference the lg 4x then the s3 outside in sunlight I would say 4x one x and s3.

The 4x is *not *better than the one x or the s3 - please stop the fanboy nonsense. I know because I have both of them and the 4x. and the galaxy nexus, which is the best of the lot.
On the positive, the 4x is very fast. Faster than the one x and the s3 in many operations. Where it falls down is that the software is sometimes flaky, particularly the camera software, which is awful. As is the stock email client. But the rest is actually pretty good and I love the form factor.
Lets not forget that the one x was flaky when it was released too so hopefully lg will fix things very quickly.
I have always loved the look of LG phones. The Prada to me is one of the nicest looking phones and UI's of all time. Just a shame about the Prada name on it.
And I gave never really owned a LG before, the 5 days I had an Optimus P350 does not count as it was just a temporary phone that I gave away after.
As what phone is 'better'. There is no such thing. There is only a better phone for you. What I demand out of a phone and what the person beside me demands are two different things. My good lady for example is still rocking the P350 stock. While it is perfect for her it would drive me up the wall. She won't even let me root it lol

Newest software update fixed the camera issues pretty much. And think about it. The 4X is like a 100 bucks cheaper then the one x and even more cheaper then the S3 and u get a great phone. And removan\ble Battery and memory unlike u do with the HTC ONE X and i had all 3 phone s the S3 the ONE X and the 4X i kept the 4X i mean i was able to sell the S3 for 650 Euro for the 64gb version i Paid 1 Euro on contract lol the ONE X i was able to sell for 400 Euro Paid One Euro. I wouldnt had get that for the LG 4X, so no brainer to sell them and keep a great phone. Didnt like the ONE X the non removable battery is bad. The battery is bad it sucks and not being able to swap it is just bad. Android isnt Apple so what the hell i got rid of it so fast. The 4X has 2100 baTTERY LIKE THE S3 has. and removable if u wanna pop in a different one. And since there is root now on the 4X u can use that LG app that allows to select the 5 core that is made to save battery if not used instead using 4 in idle it is i think a 400 mhz 5 core i get great battery life out of it. On paar with the s3 and even some. The ONE X so bad Battery life just bad.

Opinion on this phone from an LG hater

I've absolutely bashed LG for every phone they made because in all honesty, theyre crap. They are horrible cell phone manufacturers and they should stick to TV's.
After seeing the Optimus4X I was pretty impressed, but it was an LG so I wouldnt buy it anyways.
Then I saw the Optimus G. Hmmmmm theyre getting somewhere, the specs are there and the phone actually looks nice. But its STILL an LG.
Then the Nexus 4....holy cow this thing is amazing. PRICE, specs, build quality (that i can tell from videos)
But its an LG...........
IDC
The fact that it doesnt have LTE or a removable battery or expandable storage was nothing new. They had already said that it was not going to happen. Except for the LTE I mean. Thats not that important. Only ATT is a GSM carrier with LTE right now and they hardly have any. So pretty much no one cares..
BUT ITS AN LG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could just care less. Maybe they had to use them to keep the price down. Its ok Google. With that firepower, it could be a ZTE or something crappy like that and I would still buy it. Put a case over it and cover that branding LOL.
But all in all, how can you hate a phone this cheap with these specs from Google?
If you do, im sorry but go away. go buy an iphonecrap
I was literally about to pay full price for a galaxynote2. but then this was announced.
I can buy 2 of these if i want for the same money.
Enjoy the phones my friends. I will.
(if you dont go away)
uhh... WHAT!?
As long as its not a kyocera, I'm good with it

Yeah....it looks nice but I'm going to hold off gushing praise until we know it can deliver all that s4 pro performance without overheating and choking down all the battery.

LGs typically sucked because of the horrible software builds. This being a nexus pretty much eliminates that big issue.
The s4 pro has great battery. The optimus g gets 8 hours screen on. The issue is the prerelease software the reviewers got. Expect the final version to do similar if not better the optimus g.

I'm in the same boat, always bashed LG ever since I recommended the original LG Optimus (A budget phone when it came out) to two friends and never heard the end of it.. apps were crashing without reason, the whole phone would lag up randomly and it was just chaos, I ended up installing CM7 on them both and it stopped some but not all problems.
I didn't even pay attention to the LG market up until recently, I thought well if it's LG then it will have a childish UI and be built for idiots. Wow was I wrong with this one. I haven't been this impressed with the design of a phone since I got my iPhone 4 on launch day. The iPhone 4, if anyone remembers is the only iPhone that I actually appreciate because it was completely different and built to look good while remain more powerful than the competition at the time.
I am going to buy the Nexus 4 as soon as I can and hope that it's just as good as the hype makes it out to be, I've already found a buyer for my S3 i9300 (not LTE version) for a cool $400 which gives me enough money to get the 16GB for $399 here in Australia and only spend $20 on shipping. But if it's anything like the original Optimus, this phone will be finding a place in a drawer and I'll go back to Samsung, Exynos sources/documentation or not.
TL;DR This phone better be good or else my newly regained faith in LG will diminish as quickly as it came.

I'm still using my LG Optimus. It's been the most reliable phone I've had. I've thrown this thing, quite literally, across rooms before, and it's 2 years old and I've yet to put a single scratch on it. Development has been amazing, I'm currently running a completely stable CM9 on it, and there is MIUI, AOKP, CM10, CM7, CNA, you name it, that are all slightly less stable. It might not be the best phone in the world, but it's good. My phone before this was a non-android LG phone, and it was pretty solid too. Software sucked (it was a feature phone. All software sucked for them lol) but once again, the build quality was solid. So far, I've only had good experience with LG Phones, and I'm guessing this Nexus will be a fine addition.

Thanks for your opinion on a phone you only saw pictures of. So comforting coming from a guy that admits to being biased easily.
Oh and BTW... just to help you with electronics... LG produces ****ty TVs...
does this phone support micro sd card?
No but I hear people are fine with that since it has 128gb internal memory, LTE and a reinforced aluminum back and dual removable battery
even i hate lg but the nexus 4 is amazing!! i hated lg for its late updates , ugly firmware...
This hardly needs a thread of its own mate, come on.

[Q] [4HD]Good buy or bad buy

Hi guys
I hope you won't kill me, but I am a samsung boy. I had a Galaxy II and I was real pleased about it, until it got stolen. So it's time to pick a new phone. I have already read that the bootloader will be unlocked with the jelly bean update. Sadly I fear this might be only a rumour. So this leaves me with some questions.
Will the bootloader be unlocked?
Does this phone really contain lots of bugs?
Is this phone worth buying
Should I got to a Galaxy S3 or another phone
Thanks a lot
I loved my S2, fantastic phone!I upgraded to this phone, more on the fact it looks similar and I didnt like the look of the S3, its a good phone, but its a bit old hat now really, things change so quickly!
Neither do I. But I am curious if there might be other inspiring phones out there. Anyway.. the new upgrade of the SII is sadly enough just an embarrassment. Besides I was wondering if there were any other interesting phones arriving shortly. But I don't know about a lot about the bootloader, but I want my phone unlocked and bug free. I was kinda a flash-addict, and I do like this LG phone, The design, pricing and its hardware ofcourse. Still this phone hasn't received much love, so what should I do?
with my new CustoNexus port-rom, this model has suddenly gotten my interest back. So, i think its a good buy for the low cost you can find it for now comparing to a OneX when it was cheapest.
nexus4 or Optimus g is the only better alternative, comparing to SIII.

True But in this case, I don't want to limit my choice based only upon money. I do feel like getting the SIII, still the S4 might be just around the corner. If I buy this phone, I will have to used it for over a year and hopefully even more. Still I really need a smartphone and I want it to be excellent.
Your port is certainly a good solution to the dreadful UI made by LG. (I saw your rom already and it made me smile)
Still the future of this phone is quite unsure, so .. updates, bugs, .. bootloader, so tell me what should I do?
PS: I heard the display was great, can anyone confirm that?
Odp: [Q] [4HD]Good buy or bad buy
^ SGS3, lolnope, don't buy that piece of plastic! Buy 4X, it'll have JB and get unlocked soon (official CM10.1 is sure), or buy G... don't buy the phone with 1080p, it is just the waste of cash. HTC One X would be a good choice too, but if u want to play with custom roms without losing warranty, just choose O4X
@edit yes, it's the best screen after LG OG! And jelly bean update will solve most problems which exist now
@edit2 human's eye can't even see differences between 720 and 1080p (in phones, on tv u can see it ofc)
@edit3(lol) SGS2 is good phone imho, design is better than "three's", but i hate physical home menu in Samsung's phones.

I am quite unhandy and to be honest. .. I always whine about, NO NO MOVIE 1080p but honestly you can barely see the difference and I am sure this would be the case on a smartphone.
Reason if you can convince me, I'll sign your petition

The only unsure thing in future is if LG will upgrade it to JB 4.2 or further. But it runs good even on ICS, and as Dexter said, only "better" system availible atm is the Snapdragon S4 Pro in Optimus G or Nexus 4.
The display is really great. I haven't done direct comparison to a SIII, but the 4X doesn't have burn-in thanks to IPS instead of AMOLED.
The bootloader unlock was confirmed by LG's Developers to a few users here. So it's still not official, but with LG nothing is official - you just get used to that after a while

The feel of the phone overall i think.. it really feels well build, like it feels solid.. i have had a samsung s2 and a s3 and they cant keep up with this phone ln the way it feels..

But one x feels, and definetly is more solid built. And with one of many brilliant custom roms, could be the most reasonable choice at the moment. (One x+ is highly overpriced in my opinion)

i believe something got lost in translation
anyways GNII is 5.5" , just in case "it is small" was misread.
I am also thinking of selling my galaxy note and buy 4x HD ... big size of gnote is annoying and besides, 4x has tegra 3 which I believe is better than snapdragon quad ... The battery life with tegra 3 is awesome.

No one wants to convince you into it. First of all this thread shouldn't exist. Hope at least the mods look in the Optimus 4X section.

Seriously, it's time for me to renew my phone - i9000 galaxy S
After browsing the web, moaning versus N4 unavailability - and no sd-card, no battery access - i'm really considering O4X.
Form factor, instead on GSIII
Price, compared the HTC One X+
Performances
Now the major drawback for me (seems i just discover there is a locked bootloader...)
- CM10.1 support
But God, for 350€, i'm sure this phone rocks.
