[Review] Noreve Perpétuelle Couture Leather Case - Nexus 7 Accessories

Hi guys, just wanted to do a quick review of the Noreve N7 case I've been patiently waiting for the past 3 weeks or so. I wanted a real leather case and I did a lot of research on them before finally settling on these guys, and I'm not disappointed. The wait was well worth it.
Noreve offer a bunch of custom case finishes, so I went with the black perpétuelle couture case, which has a diamond stitching. I thought it would look better than the standard black, which everyone seems to have, and I was not let down. Custom orders take 14 business days to complete, and the company were very exact in their delivery time, which was a plus.
The case was 55 euros or 72 dollars. They offer free shipping with DHL to anywhere in the world.
It comes in a very nice box, and within the box there's a bright red cloth pouch for the case itself. Very excellent presentation.
Please excuse the crappy pictures. I did the best I could with my Galaxy S.

The texture (and the smell!) of the leather is outstanding. Feels very nice to the touch, and I admit to smelling it because it smells like a new pair of high end leather shoes
View of the side, bottom and back ports. The top is fully covered.
View of the back (note the little grills for the speakers - nice touch)
View from the front with the case open.
And finally, here it is in landscape mode.
One thing which was really important to me was the functionality of the sleep cover, and on this case it works like a dream. No problems whatsoever, not even when you fold the front back when you go to read something. It makes the tablet feel much more secure in the hand, and I prefer the feel of real leather as opposed to the textured N7 back, though that is nice and grippy as well.
All in all, I'm very pleased with this. It was well worth the wait. It's very functional, comfortable, and secure. Not too much bulk added to the device, and what's added feels like a dream, anyway. So I would say it's well worth it for anyone looking for a genuine leather case. These guys really seem to know what they're doing.
On a side note, their customer service people are extremely friendly and helpful.

Cheers.

Very nice review! I almost got one of those cases but opted for the Seidio Active case. It was a tough decision! LOL
I do want want of those, but having already spent the same amount on a treegloo case, it's hard for me to pull the trigger on this, especially when I have the Seidio case already.
The case looks really nice and finally see a real leather bound case with quality. The look reminds me of the Vaja Cases made in Argentina and I can literally smell the leather when reading your review lol.
Now I see that you love the case, but is there anything you do not like about it?

Thanks! It's really weird because I was going back and forth between Noreve and Seidio myself
There is one thing I don't like about it, and that's this :
The top isn't exactly flush, I tried to capture the little gap the best I could. It's nothing major and it doesn't bother me, because the case is still kinda stiff because the leather isn't broken in yet. After some use I'm sure it will go away, and besides, you can really only tell when you look at it from that angle. It doesn't affect the functionality at all.
Another thing is that the pogo pins aren't covered. I don't think the guys at Noreve knew what they were exactly at the time of designing this, so they decided to play it safe and leave it open. I don't see how you could put this on a dock while it's still in the case. But if I were Noreve I probably would have played it safe and left them open as well.
Those are the only two little things. Other than that, it made me like my N7 even more - feels so much better in the hand.

Thanks for the detailed review.
Is it just me, or does some of the finishing, particularly on the side views, look a little DIY? The cut outs just don't appear straight at all.

No it's not just you. Because it's hand made, the cut outs are not 100% symmetrical. It's apparent on the micro USB cutout, and also pogo pin connector cutout.
I'd personally rather have tiny imperfections like that for that human quality, as opposed to it being cut and stitched by machines. But that's just me. Thanks for your comment.

Interested in this case for my N7 as well.
But I would like to check if the front cover can be folded fully to the back? especially when using in portrait mode.

Yes it can, that's no problem at all for this case. I mentioned it as part of the review as well.

If it didn't work properly it would drive me crazy, as I read a lot on my tablet. I did a lot of research on this functionality before I bought the case. So yes, you can fold the front cover all the way back and the magnet will not shut the screen off. It works perfectly.

Great review btw!

No problem

nice review and great looking case, just ordered one myself

Sweet! What color/finish? Really curious. I may order another one in a different color just for the hell of it

Wow!!! 55 Euros for a piece of tat that looks like a myopic chimp made it!!
/Facepalm
Almost, but not quite as bad as the " genuine handcrafted cardboard and paper " book cover look alike one I saw advertised the other day for $99

It's actually a very, very well made, hand crafted case from some of the best leather money can buy. But whatever

Thin, snug silicone cover

Can anyone recommend a thin and snug silicone cover that does not cover up all the buttons (at least not on the front)?
I just need something to take the edge of if I were to drop it, without adding too much bulk or hanging loose.
So far best choices seem to be boxwave or the one expansys will get, but haven't tried either:

actually this doesn't look too bad either:

Has anyone bought one of these? Just curious if it's actually a hard case and if so how you can slip it on and keep a tight fit

thats pretty slick looking, Looks to me though to maybe be a combination of a hard case (the back) and silicone (the sides).. Definitely looks good regardless..
I have this
I have the HTC branded silicone case and it not very snug but it was all I could get. It was the only choice for me.

seems a little thick on the top side. I was looking for something very thin, like the ones for blackberry curve if you've seen them, very slim, very tight and blends in well with it
Been shopping around till my myTouch arrives but has anybody try the Plastic resin type?

looks likes its snug and better than the silicone ones. check out the video at around 5:05 for the magic
They look quite good actually, quite thin. I've just ordered a blue one and a clear one. Only cost £5.50 all in to get it to the UK. Will leave a review when they turn up.
I am currently using one of the clear silicone cases from ebay, they are ok but they add a bit of bulk to the phone which I don't like.

Yeah I was thinking of getting a black one but I've seen our (HTC Magic) phone with a black silicone case on it and it looks really weird. Like too much black on that nice white body, doesn't look good.
Think clear and blue look quite cool tho.

its almost like the one I posted on ebay but without the design and you get 5pcs instead of 1 now the only thing in question is quality and how snug it is.
Anyone that gets any of these please let us know how it is
I am not usually a huge fan of cases because I hate the bulk they add...but if there is a SUPER thing one (pref soft not hard) I would def be interested

Right they turned up today, took probably 7 days I think to get from Japan to London, so pretty good.
First thing I asked for Clear and Blue cases. I got clear and black. Those funny Japanese folk probably couldn't read my VERY CLEAR ENGLISH.
Anyways first thing you notice is that they feel a lot tougher then the standard silicone ones you get off ebay (I was using a clear silicone case from ebay) the japanese ones are very tough, but still durable, they fit my magic a lot more tightly the the bog standard silicone ones.
Second thing I notice is how much more grip it gives you, much better then the silicone ones.
Thirdly and perhaps most importantly is the fact that YES they are thinner then the sillicone ones which seem to add a bit of un-wanted bulk to the magic. This new case must add barely 1mm to the unit.
I haven't quite worked out if I like the pattern that seems to be on the case, the black case looks ok but I really wanted the blue one! SO i'm going to email them now and see if they reply, doubt they will though.
lastly the provide you with a couple of 'free' screen protectors. These are actually the best ones i've used! They really are fantastic, they fit the screen perfectly, are perfectly clear, no bubbles and you can't even tell they are on there! And it doesn't affect the use of the screen at all, I mean it's still ultra sensitive when swiping your finger etc. Very happy with these!
All in all I like these cases and think for the price, especially considering how good the screen protectors are (worked out at about £7 inc shipping to UK) it's a pretty good deal.
Doesn't mean I won't be looking for another case tho
But until I fall in love with one, this will be the one I use.
Hey thanks for the review I actually ordered the 5pack they have for $20 I just hope they don't make a mistake on the colors. I ordered 2 clear(for me ) and 1 of each pink, blue, purple(for my wife)
but then after i bought it i found this ebay which is a little bit cheaper and had a diff design but who know maybe its the same quality. I might try those out as well

Thanks for the review. Can you possibly put some photos up of the cases with and without your phone inside?
It's good to hear that they are so thin. I'm currently using the supplied HTC case but was thinking of getting something a bit less bulky.
cheers

What are people using for Samsung Focus cases?

What case are you using -- and if you bought it online - from where?
Thanks!
Using a Louis Vuitton case that fit the previous HTC Fuse as well. Case is no longer available from LV tho.

That one looks pretty decent from this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835323 )
Maybe move this to accessories? I don't know!
I'm using the Body Glove case they sold at AT&T.
It looks really sharp, and feels safe; it even adds some heft that gives the phone a more solid weight and feel.
My only beef with the case is that the side buttons are hard to find, and hard to feel when pressed (makes focusing while picture taking extremely difficult).
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...sku4980540&source=ECbn000000000000O#tabModule
Under comp accessories, the Body Glove item...
I'm using the CaseMate red and black case from the AT&T store. I would have preferred it in all black as opposed to the bright red, but the thing feels very safe for taking to the gym and it adds some heft to it. The raises rubber edges on the front are a nice touch too for the few times I've had the phone face down. The buttons are very easily accessible. My only gripe would be that the two level camera button is a little bit harder to get to use for focusing-- it requires a bit more finesse as a light press will go straight to taking a picture. Other than that, if you can get past the looks of it (which really aren't that bad), I think this is a fantastic case.
Here is what I got today from eBay, the seller is Bluedot.
The fit it really good. Not too tight to activate buttons, not too loose either.
The color is a really dard brown. The flash made it look lighter than it really is.

The construction seems durable. It cost $9.95 plus shipping.

This case sucks. I bought one from AT&T, and it doesn't fit correctly. You can see the gap from the case to the phone looking into the side where the power button hole is. I'm returning mine as its NOT what i would expect for $30 plus tax. Right now im using my old Nexus One pouch that i tore a small hole on the side to prevent the power button from being mushed in.
PS: to my above post. i see the same case on eBay (i have zero affiliation yet this does look authentic and not a knock off case). See
http://cgi.ebay.com/Authentic-Louis...315509?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3360ad80b5
The top flap does not really work due to the 'extra' height of the phone itself, so i just have it naturally fold behind the phone itself. Note in the side photo it does not touch the power button, so it works well and if i need to silence an incoming call it is easy. Removing and inserting the phone is also easy.
Again, i have zero affiliation with the eBay auction yet this case works well for me.
I have an Incipio hard case that I bought at my local AT&T store. These pics are crappy but I just made them in the last five minutes.
I found this Samsung Galaxy S case at Circuit City and it fit the Focus like a glove! It's not bad, and I found it at a retail location, so that's also kind of a bonus. Hopefully more good ones will come out soon!

I've got one too. I like it, though I also don't mind that it does not cover the top, bottom, or front of the phone.
If that's a problem, then I hope you like having a bright red case because the Body Glove is awful, which leaves your only other choice the bright-red Case-Mate.

I'm not really a case kind of guy, but do hate the glossy surface of the back of my focus. Has anyone come across any back plates for the phone with a different surface? A back cover with a soft touch material would make the phone perfect. Thanks in advance...

The invisible shield covers come in a matte style for the back of the phone. I use it and like it.
I bought this the other day,
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004DFBBCE/ref=oss_product
So far i like it, there are nobs on the side instead of cutouts for buttons, and they work as if they weren't there.
The case protects the back camera lens and covers a bit of the front. The areas where it covers on the front basically masks the edges of the screen protector, which makes it look really clean.
The added silicon near the bottom prevents my palm/fingers from accidentally pressing the capacitive keys, which are a big plus for me
Case-Mate Red/Black POP Case is the one I have, and its the best case out. I wish they made it in ALL black. The case provides great protection, Already dropped it a few times getting out of my car, and the case held up great. You buy a phone like this please dont buy cheap arse $5.00 case from ebay. Dont buy the Incipio, that case is garbage. No protection at all.

Case-Mate Barely There Droid 3 Case Review

I have recent come from an HTC Droid Incredible and got the Droid 3 for $200 off someone on Craigslist which was awesome. Of course, I had to get a case for it but I didn't want something thick and wanted something thin.
Of the brand name case makers, Case-Mate seemed to be the answer I was looking for with their Barely There line. I could've gone with Mobi but they did not seem as well known and for about $5 more I could get peace of mind. I got mine for about $16 on Amazon.
Case fit is very good. It is snug and not loose.
The material is that "faux rubbery hard case" material, not unlike the material that the Droid 3 battery cover is made of. Of course the back of the case (which I forgot to take a picture of, sorry!) looks very sleek with the Case-Mate logo.
I haven't dropped it (-knocks on wood-) so I can't say how well it'd hold up but it looks like it'll probably hold up as well as any other case made of the same material. It doesn't have the silicone inner layer like the Trident and Otterbox cases so not as much shock absorption, but it will definitely protect against minor drops and bumps and keep scratches off your phone.

I do have one gripe with the case, however...
Some of the tabs rub against the case. In other words, I feel like the case doesn't slide as smoothly with the case on and there's some resistance. Has anybody else experienced this?
That really bothers me I was wondering if any of the other cases didn't have any rubbing at all and/or if that is even possible with this type of phone? Or if anyone has any other case suggestions?
Thanks Hope this review was helpful!
UPDATE: I e-mailed Case-Mate's support services and they claim that this is not "normal" and they may send me a replacement so we'll see.
Yesterday, I thought about what kind of case will protect this phone and allow using keyboard too, of course a 2 piece case! Nicely executed, but looks ugly =/.
As for being able to use the keyboard, this case does not hinder it in my opinion and I think it looks okay. However, the Qmadix case I don't like. I think THAT looks ugly lol.
I'm considering just a skin and maybe no case. I've always had cases but figure this would be a good chance to try something different. Maybe Skinomi? Any suggestions?

I use a skinomi wooden skin. Looks fantastic, has held up for a couple months with no problem. Only issue is there isn't a piece that works for the side right underneath the capacitative buttons, cause of the funny curve, but it really doesn't look bad. I would recommend highly

True...
I just ordered the clear TechSkin from Skinomi for the Droid 3 yesterday for around $15. So we'll see I guess. I'm a little nervous about the whole wet-everything-then-try-to-stick-it-on thing as I've never tried anything with a wet application before.
Did you happen to se if the Droid fit in the Car and/or multimedia docks while the Case Mate was attached? I"m still searching for a good quality case that serves that function.. without some of the more drastic modifications i've seen posted on other threads.
I had a case like this on my 1st d3. The tabs rubbed on the phone and made it a little harder to slide, but I thought that was "normal" About 3 weeks ago my backlight started going in and out when I slid the keyboard, to the point where I couldnt get it to turn on. Got a warranty replacement, and bought an otterbox commuter case. 20 bucks, but the slider glides without issue and I'm not seeing any marks where it rubs.
TL DR Cases like this that cause the slider to not glide as smoothly may cause your backlight/screen to die

TL DR Cases like this that cause the slider to not glide as smoothly may cause your backlight/screen to die

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. Sorry to hear it screwed up your D3. I've since got the TechSkin and it turned out better than I thought it would. I would've considered an OtterBox but it just looked so... thick and big. How is in compared to the Case Mate?

Sorry, I don't have any docks, they're crazy expensive! But I would assume that they wouldn't fit though that's just me guesstimating.

It is a little bigger but thats because it kinda sits in 2 cases (the slicon layer and the hard shell), but its not a ton bigger. The slider works though as if there is no case even on it, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable having it in the case. I wish it was a little gripier though

True... thanks. Yeah, I heard that the Droid 3 Otterbox wasn't as crazily big as the other ones.

Did you happen to se if the Droid fit in the Car and/or multimedia docks while the Case Mate was attached? I"m still searching for a good quality case that serves that function.. without some of the more drastic modifications i've seen posted on other threads.

I ended up getting this case and I can report that it works with both the car and home docks...
i hae the otter case , which slides smooth, offer great protection, but it is really bulky,
i was thinking of getting another case, but i am now thinking of getting skins,
since skins offer nice protection and keep the phone slim,
got to love how it is the thinest android with keyboard
Anyone know if this case slides better than the OEM one from verizon? Ive had it on since day 1 and its wearing away the finish along where the rail slides and I hardly use the keyboard. It's also bulky, and the rubber texture of the case makes taking it out of the pocket a pain if you wear pants that fit. lol

I have the same experience of it being very non-smooth sliding...

luckyexpress168 - Ultra Thin Slim Pu Case - quick review and pics.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/15088047618.../sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=150880476182&_rdc=1
I ordered the case on 20th August and it arrived yesterday 31st so not bad from HK to the UK signed for delivery.
The case is very slim, in one of the pics I've included a 5 pence piece for comparison, the case is almost exactly the same thickness as the coin at about 18mm closed.
It looks very smart and the chrome strip for the magnetic closure looks better than I'd expected. The case section is hard plastic like many others and has a soft neoprene style backing to it. The N7 clips in very securely (I've yet to figure out how to get it out again...) and is protected all round. All the cutouts are in the right place and nicely bevelled, the on/off switch and vol controls have their own cutouts which makes finding them easier than my previous case,
In the open stand position the nap of the cloth interior holds the N7 at the angle you want, nice touch. No auto on/off magnet, but that's just a lazy mans gimmick anyway and doesn't bother me as long as the switch is easy to get to. You can see in the second picture the speaker grill and the PU material the 'hinge' strap is made from, because of the way it's made there's a bit of rotational play to the cover when closed but not too much, time will tell if that increases or not.

Is it possible to fold the cover back completely, how does it look?
Yes it is possible, the cover folds back flat and stays flat without any pressure.
even cheaper
Found a cheaper one from the ausies for $13.4 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-SLIM-...ccessories&hash=item46078371f9#ht_6402wt_1194
It comes without the metallic Nexus7 part, I prefer this version.
I'd like to hear the OP thinks based on the photos, is this the same product or a cheaper/inferior replica?

Looks pretty much the same, except without the chrome strip as you say. the magnet is built in to the case so I assume there must be some metal strip in the cover to keep it shut. Auction doesn't give any details though.

I asked the ebay seller. I am afraid that the metallic label and the magnet are missing from this case. I cannot understand how it remains closed.

hhmm, maybe that's why it's cheaper? or maybe there is a metal insert inside the cover that connects with the magnet.
I just got mine in today and I actually like it a lot. It has a nice soft leather feeling in hand and the plastic back feels quite sturdy. The tablet really clicks into the back solidly, it actually takes some work to remove it from the case. The construction is pretty nice, it has the felt on the inside of the lid and the plastic, the cutouts are nice (especially the separate power button) and the magnet holds it closed firmly.
The downsides are minor, the lid is a little oversized and doesn't lock into place when closed. It can wiggle and twist around some. Other then that it looks nice and feels nice, it compliments my bulkier Portenzo case well
I've found a good use for the chrome N7 strip, I bought an Appldea Maglus stylus and it has a strong magnet in it which holds it onto the metal very securely.

Confirmed: There is no magnet in this cheaper version.
Is anyone concerned about that metal strip contacting the screen and scratching it? Looks like a nice case though. Thanks for the review and pics.
very nice review. may consider getting one of these!

No. the magnet in the base is slightly raised so the chrome strip does not come into contact with the screen when closed. Use a screen protector anyway, they are so cheap it's daft not to.

I have this case as well, though I haven't written a review on it. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY.
First off, the biggest miss in this case is no sleep/wake magnet. On top of that, its difficult using the case as a stand for the tablet. Although the cover looks and feels good (almost like leather), $20 is way too expensive for something that is lacking a smart-cover feature, a mechanism to use it as a stand, and fake leather.

I have to disagree, Asus/Google very kindly provided us with an on/off button and I don't mind using it, I don't need a 2 cent magnet to do the job for me. I've also not had any problem using the case as a stand when I've wanted to, as explained above the nap of the cloth interior holds it nicely for me.
$20 is at the top of the cheaper end of the range but it's hardly bank robbery, I've bought a number of cheaper cases and all of them do the job to a greater or lesser extent but all of them look cheap compared to this one.
Each to their own though, ymmv etc. the world would be a dull place if we all thought the same.

bobjGear Case Review

So I recently recieved my bobjGear case. These are available from Amazon or bobjGear directly. US customers like myself, who don't want to order from Amazon can still order directly from him too. bobjGear shipped my case out promptly, and priority mail.
Now I only have the factory "Google" or Asus case to compare this too. As you can see the bobjGear case is a thicker. It does have a tacky rubbery feel, that helps you hold onto it.

Notice the hole on the lower-mid left side of the top of the case. They have directed one of the microphones forward. The other is directed pretty much straight out the bottom.
The buttons on the bobjGear case you definitely won't hit on accident. You do really have to push them to operate them.
The ridge around the case pretty much creates a giant bumper all the way around around the tablet. As you can see by the volume buttons above the bumper is the thinnest on the back, but it's still much more protection compared to the stock case.
Pros:
-More padding around the tablet, hopefully protects it from any accidents.
-Gives the tablet a bit more mass, which makes it feel better in my hands.
-The silicone adds some grip, and feels good in my hands.
-Price, at $20 it's not the cheapest case out there, but definitely not the most exspensive.
-Many colors available.
Cons:
-No cover or protection for the screen. (While this makes it easier to use, I do like the flip cover when I just throw the tablet into a bag, I'll be using a screen protector now.)
-Does add some size to the tablet over the thin factory case.
-Between the extra size of the case, and the grip of the silicone, means it doesn't just slip into my back pocket anymore.
-The extra grip does attract dust and dirt
- ??
Other Thoughts:
I would actually like to see a bit more of a ridge around the tablet on the backside. Most of the thicker material is around the edges and the front side, the back is "thin" compared to the front. While I'm sure this is a compromise as users with smaller hands wouldn't want the case even thicker. So far everyone I've shown the case too though, has thought it really made it feel nice to hold.
My other borderline complaint, is the buttons are almost hard to press. While you definitely won't hit them on accident, now you definitely have to mean to push them.
It would be nice if a thin piece of plastic (similar to what the Otterbox cases have) could be added to protect the screen. While it maybe hard to scratch the glass on the Nexus, I'd still feel better with an extra layer of protection for when I decided to put it in a bag, or throw it in the car seat with other stuff.
Final Word:
Overall I would definitely recommend this case, if nothing else just for the feel alone. It makes the tablet much more comfortable in your hands. It also makes it easier to hold onto. Not to mention, if (when) I drop my tablet I'd much rather it fall in the bobjGear case than the Asus factory case.
Very nice review! Great to see the different takes and types of cases that I haven't seen first hand yet.
That top part makes it look like a pillow! lol. Great for the kiddies so not to worry too much from accidental drops. Hey I dropped mine twice already lol, I had the treegloo case on at both times. Came unscathed, well the N7 did, the treegloo had some indentations, but you can hardly tell they are there.
Anywhoo...great review .
Great review.
Great review .. i have the pink one.
I think its great as it is with the exception of the buttons. They are kinda hard for me to push. I disagree with the screen needed a plastic cover. that is just a false sense of security.. if you hit the screen center you will break it even if something was over it that would let touch work.. One more thing . Wash it in warm water with dish detergent in sink will stop it from being sticky and still give you great grip.
I have the amzer so called impact resistant case. near same price but much less protection. The rubber ring around the screen feels odd in my hand.

It's not really to protect against breakage, it's more to protect the screen from scratches and chemicals. It's not a huge deal, as I'll just use a screen protector, but an option like this would be nice.

Thanks for the tip, going to go wash it now!
Nice review. I had been eyeing the BobJ case, and may have gotten it had it been out while I was case shopping. But, it still wasn't due for a few weeks.
I went with the Portenzo case instead. But, the BobJ ruggedness was definitely an appealing close second. Looks good!

Thanks for the review, OhioYJ.
Judging by the photos only I do wish the ridge wasn't as pronounced at the top.
Thanks OhioYJ for the review this is perfect timing just got a Nexus 7 yesterday for my daughter and was already looking at this case, going for the pink one.
And thanks erica_renee for the washing tip will try that as well!

If you have not bought it .. The colors of the cases are not exact to what he has on his site .. I got the (berry something color) it is near HOT PINK.. Had i know it was so bright i would have got green or orange.. However i am very light skin and blonde hair. So most of my cloths and so on fit well with the color. If she has darker hair The case could clash with most darker hair women are not so much into pinkish pastel colors.
Sorry OP if this is off topic. But it is about the case and its colors are off from the website. but then again it could be my monitor..

She is 5 I think Hot Pink would be a bonus for her! Thanks for the info however.
OhioYJ thanks for the review.
Can OhioYJ or anyone with a more experience, now, tell me how it is standing up to normal use? How about any drops? Or kids using it?
Can't speak for the N7, because the case has only been on it since the release, but I've got 3 of the BobjGear cases for my Toshiba Thrive (a big and heavy device) and his cases have kept it safe and disaster-free for the last 9-10 months. Even in 'little' hands.
I find the wide round edge makes the device much easier and comfy to hold on to while reading and so on .. It does add some weight to it but its not that bad.You just have a better sense of security for the device in your hand with this case..I have tried several others and this one is by far the best . For kids and those with small hands this will also make them less likely to drop the device. Its Not as soft of a rubber as you would think its quite dense and very nice quality material.. The only down side i could say it pushing the buttons are sometimes kinda hard. Or i guess harder to push.. This is the only thing the young children could have a issue with or might have to learn to do...
I WOULD SAY Buy it . IF you do not like send it back...
Good Luck...
I really like the design of this case. Only problem is I use my alarm clock on the N7 so I need something that docks

there is a stand for the case on the bobjgear website.. But yea with most after market especially a case made to protect the device a standard dock would NOT work.
there are alternatives on amazon that will accomidate the case.. I just have not really looked...
I'm very happy my new black Bobj case so far.
I share my tablet with my little son (he loves doing puzzles on it).
He's good with stuff and hasn't dropped it but now with the case I'm worry-free :good: Also no harmful chemicals thanks to the food-grade silicone.
The case goes on and off easy enough and it's also easy to clean (doesn't attract dirt as much as i thought it would anyway).
It offers a good grip and I think it provides more protection than i.e. the Amzer skin case because it's so thick.
The sound/power button are covered which makes them a bit harder to push. No more pushing by accident I guess
I'm certainly not getting something expensive like an Otterbox for a budget tablet, insane prices.. I just need something easy and simple anyway, I'm not going camping with the tablet.
As mentioned, you can't use a dock with it I think (unless you take it out everytime or customize it yourself) but I don't want one anyway.
I couldn't order it from Amazon.com because I'm in Canada, so I simply ordered it through the bobjgear website. Best customer service, before and after I ordered :good:
My wife is getting one too now for her Nexus 7 (she's such a copy cat).
I bet she got her nexus first. Tell her the pink one is very VERY Bright..I love mine because i can hold my tablet better with this case.i have a cheap book type case with the cheap band corner straps i put it in when its in my purse to protect the screen .. aweseome protection and not ugly like the gum drop..

It may be years later, but I do so appreciate this kind of review as BobJGear is still going strong. I have 4 BobJ cases:
Gotcha Green
Outrageous Orange
Batfish Blue
Bold Black
The green is a very bright green and the blue is very loud. The orange and black are more for business, as the colours are more muted.
I did not get from the Amazon store as they would not ship to South Africa. On the other hand, BobJGear China had no hassles and I ordered through Aliexpress.com.
Still one of the best cases around and well worth spending the money.
