[ROM] Atrix-MROM-ICS [CM9] build:20121114 - Atrix 4G Android Development

Introducing Atrix-MROM-ICS. Custom ROM for the Atrix 4G
This is my attempt to build an ICS ROM for the Atrix 4G completely built from source code; Atrix-MROM-ICS is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest source code, currently 9, kernel 2.6.39.4, and Motorola proprietary ICS drivers. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the Atrix 4G, so I also made some changes. If you like my work, consider a donation to my cause.
BIG THANKS TO EPINTER FOR HELPING ME.
BUILT FROM SOURCE PROOF https://github.com/MROM. Every developer should provide proof that he is building from source.
CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES:
Camera Flash not timed correctly
Sometimes slow to wake up
Wi-Fi policy must be kept to Always to avoid most reboots
Wake up after phone call is slow
Occasional weird behaviors due to the kernel instability
Not all Atrix can run this ICS build until a more reliable kernel is released
Fingerprint sensor not working
Atrix-MROM is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:
Boot time in about 30 seconds
Quick and responsive
Contains all the most common Atrix tweaks
MIUI Camera for a better picture experience
QuickPic gallery application
SuperSU for better super user administration
While I tried to maintain the main core small, size is not the main focus.
Requirements:
Clockworkmod or compatible recovery
Atrix 4G with an unlocked bootloader
WARNING: I DECLINE ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN DAMAGING YOUR PHONE. YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS IN ANY PROCESS DESCRIBED ON THIS PAGE.
Installation:
Download file Atrix-MROM-ICS-yyyymmdd.zip and the appropriate Ram Fix for you architecture
Backup your current ROM

Clean dalvik cache
Install Atrix-MROM-ICS-yyyymmdd.zip file
Apply Ram Fix for your appropriate hardware tegra d00 or 1100 *** THIS IS A MANDATORY STEP ***
Boot the phone
Reboot in recovery and install Google ICS Apps (this is required to avoid the home and search button not working)
Reboot
1st reboot takes a little longer
Update from a previous version:

Can't find the ICS zip file from your web site.

Your download link goes to the MROM page, not the MROM-ICS page.

Sorry, the link should be correct now...

Nice! Will try this out now. Have you incorporated the nvidia control panel service? I'm seeing some positive results battery wise from that.
Thanks

Your Atrix either has the d100 architecture or the 1100 architecture. dmesg can tell you that, look arty the kernel parameters. Another thing you can do odd to apply one, if it boots, than it's the correct one, if it does not boot, than choose the other one...

When's the next release coming?
Don't know.
I'd like to develop my own ROMs, can I kang this to start?
Absolutely NOT. Do not kang this ROM. We will find out if you did and report you, we're not stupid. If you need to use something just ask for permission. This applies to everything development related.
Something went wrong! Can you help me?
We'd love you help you, but we need a little more information about your issue. You should provide us with information regarding what your issue causes and what you did before the issue started. However, before asking us and the community, ask yourself two simple questions:
Can I reproduce the error?
Have I looked for a solution?
If you answered "yes" to both of these questions and came up empty handed, then post it in the thread and it will be addressed.
Can you add *this* to the ROM?
Although we are not obligated to add anything and everything to the ROM, we will do our best to supply your desires and live up to your expectations. Do not mistake this for a guarantee. We would like to do everything, but we may not be able to.
I love this ROM, can you guys do more projects like this?
If we have the time, yes. It would be wonderful if you guys could show us how much you love the ROM by thanking us for our hard work by hitting that button at the bottom of our posts. Also, donations are never expected, but they are all appreciated.
My battery life sucks. What gives?
HWA (hardware acceleration) is sucking the battery life out of the ROM. If you don't want to deal with terrible battery life then flash the .zip in "Optional Downloads" (yet to come).
Where can I go for information about the latest updates?

MROM-Olympus. Custom ROM for the Atrix 4G
This is my attempt to build a stable, complete, and fully functional custom ROM for the Atrix 4G completely built from source code; Atrix-MROM is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest source code, my branched and modified faux123 kernel, and Motorola proprietary drivers. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the Atrix 4G, so I also made some changes. Atrix-MROM is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:

Thanks for the Rom. It's a good thing I don't need webtop because this is based off CM7 and everyone knows that CM7 doesn't support webtop. But I figure if I didn't know that, I would just use Google to find that out. Again thanks for the Rom and thanks for including all information in the first post.

Only 12 MB in Size?
[EDIT] - This question has been answered, and the ROM is "usual sized".
Is this ROM really only 12mb or did I grab the wrong file from your Github? If so, you should advertise this...this is smaller than the leanest ROM by a long way... Thanks for developing for the Atrix.
Please follow the Download link, github is only for GPL compliance...
biggest change log....cyanogenmod setting renamed to Atrix-MROM settings.....
how much does this rom average at quadrant standards?
now this is a toughy to choose between this and neutrinos rom 2.91ee, which is better?

Hey, this ROM looks very promising and I'd like to try it out, but...
Before I flash something on my phone, I'd like to at least check that it downloaded properly. Good news - you provided the MD5 file exactly for this purpose. Bad news - the MD5 file is not for that ZIP file at all. The ROM is called Atrix-MROM-20120816.zip while the MD5 file mentions cm-nightly.zip, and of course the MD5 sum mentioned in the file doesn't match the one calculated from the ZIP. On top of that, the web server you're using doesn't send the total size of the file (while it was downloading the progress was alwasys xxx MB of Unknown) so I can't even guestimate based on the file size (ie. it's supposed to be around xxx MB, my download is about that size, so it's probably fine).
The downloaded ZIP file happily opens in any archive manager which is definitely good, but I'd really like to check it against its MD5 file before I actually decide to flash it. Hope you fix this soon!

[ROM] AtrICS v2.0 by Team Hope [build: 20121114][Final]

Introducing AtrICS v2.0!
by Team Hope
Unfortunately, thehope was unable to continue development of AtrICS.
So Team Hope was created to step in to help deliver what you were denied: A beautiful stock ICS experience.
This ROM is pure stock and fully Blured: nothing added and nothing removed. We intend to keep it that way.
Please don't ask for battery mods, quick panels, track skipping with the volume rocker, etc.
In time, mods will appear in the themes and apps section.
All members of Team Hope each have their own projects. This means updates may not come as frequently as you would like.
Please be patient. The team will do it's best to fix as many major problems as possible.
Some problems, if hardware related, may not be fixable within a reasonable time frame (sorry).
In the mean time, enjoy the gift we were given.
************************************
This ROM is an open source gift to the community. It may used as a base for your own ROM, just be sure to give credit to Team Hope and provide a link back to this thread.
It would also be appreciated if you would share any fixes or improvements with the community to help make AtrICS even better.
************************************
What's new?
Aside from changelog information, all the apps you have heard about and wanted to play with are available.
These include: SmartActions and the Weather Widget
Not Working
If you had problems with That ROM, AtrICS v1.0, or ICSROM (reboots, overheating, screen tearing),

Be sure to check posts 2 & 3 for additional information and downloads.
I will not respond to help requests via PM.
Please post your question on one of my threads.
What can you do?
_Alex_ was kind enough to create a wiki for "That Rom" (please thank him!).
Since both ROMs are closely related, it would be helpful to continue to use it for bug reports and fixes.
Providing logcats would be very helpful, but please be judicious. Posting a 10 page logcat is not very helpful.
Editing to remove non-error related processes will make the logcat much more useful. Logcats in color are the most helpful.
Post edited logcats but please save the orignal. You can even do it on your phone with aLogcat (Play Store).
Logcats capturing the following errors will be extremely helpful:
Dropped cellular data connection
SD Card related reboots

I see is based on on 6.7.119. What is different in this v2.0 build? New libs? Kernel?
Edit: What I see in zip, it's look the same as v1.0 except vendor.img is missing.
ill flash theese at once , the only thing that keeped me from usin atrics rom as a daily driver was the deblur thing, hopfully you'll keep theese rom blured in the future, really good to have you guys, keeping me from returning to my atrix 2 ( gave it to my wife) ,i just love my first atrix

this rom is pure stock and fully blured: Nothing added and nothing removed. We intend to keep it that way.
Please don't ask for battery mods, quick panels, track skipping with the volume rocker, etc.
In time, mods will appear in the themes and apps section.

thanks but no... only reason to use stock is for webtop and i guess it still doesn't work properly.. i shall wait for a deblured mod with all the goodies (including battery life mods) instead of having to look for them elsewhere
International users note you need to flash ramfix after flash of v2.
Smart actions works pity they don't have any more volume actions other than ringer volume!
Will report back after a few days of use. At face value not noticed anything yet other than smart actions working (I don't use the stock launcher).
Thank you team hope. Cheers
Just want to be sure, its the webtop from the link on your ICSROM?

For some users, myself included, deep sleep = SOD. I will post instructions to re-enable for those that want it.

Something so important as a new kernel and libs would probably be in the changelog.

Overview
This is MIUIv5 ported from the Razr XT926, this devices twin. It has not been optimized with an updated anykernel and it's suggested one is placed in this rom after install.
MIUIv5 4.1.2 Download
(07/16/13) MIUIv5 3.5.31
Working
-Everything, beside MIUI native Camera and some areas, LTE
-Use a newer anykernel to resolve any artifacting or USB trouble.
Patch-Apps FAQ
Download: http://d-h.st/u0l
Q: Patch Apps?
A: They're MIUI APKs built with Patchrom for use with this device specifically for a smoother and more efficient experience
Q: How do I Install?
A: Extract the APKs to a folder on your SD card and install them via the Package Manager manually, one at a time.
Expect FCs during this, but after a reboot everything will be perfectly stable!
Q: Do I have to do this for the Rom to work?
A: No, but It's suggested because It makes for a smoother and 'better' experience, It's best to be as close to native as possible.
MIUI General FAQ
Q: Why is G-Apps not listed for Download?
A: Too Bloaty, add a Google account and install the play store as an APK, I suggest using Aptoide to find it.
Q: LTE isn't working
A: Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Select an APN with a Bearer that says 'LTE'
Q: Help! Phone/SystemUI/Keyboard Isn't working/Is Force Closing!
A: Make sure to do a completely clean wipe, also I'm not sure how well this will work if flashed in CWM.
Q: The Browser looks terrible.
A: Settings -> Advanced -> User agent string -> MiOne (It Renders much better & more naturally!)
Q: Where is the Weather Widget?
A: I didn't include it, as it does not support North America. :l use 'Weather BZ' from the Play Store, It is a full replacement for Xiaomi weather and themes with this rom.
Q: My Filesystems won't mount/My PC can't see my device/My phone won't act as a MTP/USB Mounting isn't working!
A: Settings -> Developer Options -> Enable Development / USB Debugging (switch both to on)
Misc.Notes
-If flashed in TWRP the rom will ask to install SuperSU, do not Install SuperSU as MIUI has it's own root management application.
-Airplane mode works, but will restart all applications running on the phone, turning it back off does not do this.
-The Sim Card pop-up is inherent to this version, It is cosmetic and does not actually do anything.
v5 Final Build Notes
This Rom will boot & work on the Atrix HD and It's suggested (though not needed) that you replace the kernel with a more updated version if available for your device, Operator error has nothing to do with me.
Gonna try this. How is the battery life?

It's average in comparison with CM10 and so on, It's good if you consider that MIUIv5 has as much going on as iOS in terms of it's motion, how it moves and feels and so on; the hit to battery life won't be huge but you will not experience gains in battery life with a rom like this either

AtrixHD MIUIv5 Project Thread
// Atrix HD
// Android 4.1.2
Overview
This is a port of MIUIv5 based on the SIII, everything is functional as far as I know on the RazrHD XT926, which as far as I know
is this phones twin so everything should be functional here; I have made build.prop changes only and boot.img may need to be replaced, or not.
Working
Everything afaik
Bugs
Bugs are all cosmetic
- If your wipe isn't clean enough, Sim will not be detected, re-wipe and flash again.
- Does not correctly label 'Verizon' as carrier
- Does not display '4g' although you still get it

Ok status report. Flashed perfectly and everything worked great until 20 minutes ago. The back key stayed stuck on the down arrow when exiting the keyboard. I restarted to fix it and it brought me to the sim unlock code screen so I had to boot into fastboot and then recovery to wipe cache which fixed the problem. Btw dont mess around with the performance it causes lag if you choose powersave cpu with noop scheduler.

I guess It's worth nothing that the SIII settings actually in some cases do things, my suggestion is to not mess around with them if possible.
You'll have to find a different weather provider, I try to get this working though I know people love it, but MIUIchina doesn't support the US so both weather widgets are not working
Awesome Rom only problem I have is Google play services says it has a conflict with something on my SD card and won't install.

Great to see miui for bionic... But 4.2.2 seems like a relatively old android base, doesnt it? Is this really 4.2 JB based or 4.4.2 KK?

MIUI v5 is 4.2.2 based. That is kinda strange but it is what it is. I am still hoping someone build ChaOS for Bionic since it is open source and the theme engine is MIUI based and ChaOS is now 4.4.2 based.
EDIT: I guess that 4.4 KITKAT MIUI will be released in February sometime for Nexus 5
Is it safe to flash to stock or only for ROM slot?

I can do a quick Chameleon OS if people really want it, it's much less involved than this is lol.
I'm a member of the MIUI porting team over at en.miui; I am forking MIUI to every Moto device I can build for and yes, weekly updates will come over here too once source building is done
That would be awesome. Thanx.

Ok guys, I've finished all the FW stuff for MIUI and just must complete a kernel.
I notice Kernel is handled a bit differently on this phone, how does your phone handle them? I need to add Shelld and LBESEC to init.rc and make edits in default.prop
Once the kernel for this phone is finished it's done, but I noticed you folks don't have the usual boot.img... are you using stock kernel over here?

This phone's bootloader is locked so that we can not edit boot partition .We use kexec to hot-reload a third part kernel. So you can find its kernel and ramdisk file in
/system/etc/kexec/kernel (zImage);
/system/etc/kexec/ramdisk.img (gzipped cpio ramdisk)

Happy to hear that ! Actually, these Motorola OMAP devices are all using kexec to bypass locked boot and recovery partition(We use a apk called SafeStrap by hashcode).
Then another way to bypass locked bootloader on some LG and Samsung devices is :loki
Their boot.img is patched with this tool:
https://github.com/djrbliss/loki
Hope this will be helpful on your porting works.....
EDIT: Would you please share me with your CM base ROM for droid bionic after your porting for MOTO devices is done via private message ?
