and it only gets to the Galaxy S gt-i9000 screen.. not the S logo :/

Weren't you flashing stock ? Which version did you use ?
Try use a different variant of fw with Odin and remember not to tick any checkboxes other than the default ones !

Yes i was flashing stock JW4 its not the first time of done this and this is not the only phone i have flashed..but this is something different its never happened before, could the internal SD be dead? :S
i tried different firmwares too and a different odin version but i always got the same result.. so please help me :/

Google emmc dead and you will find a method to test it via adb just to be sure !

after i tried different things the phone wont even boot up now..so i guess its dead..my last hope to get it running is the usb jig ( it wont even charge )

Maybe try pit file and boot loader but with extreme caution ! If you can get it download mode with jig

well you need to buy a external charger or charge in solar charger or something. when this happens in flashing or booting bootloader stage you have limited options .
look at 25) Problem:- Phone completely DEAD, Not Charging and NO response, only this SEC S5PC110 TEST B/D in My Android Solutions
Need a guide, look into My Guides and Manuals
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card, after flashing and reboot , insert them back
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu> Settings> Applications> Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, & KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3

i didnt say it .. i have another galaxy s .. i used that battery and it didnt start with that either.

Galaxy S stuck with orange triangle

Hi guys,
I 've seccesfully used JM7+Voodoo lagfix and I decided to flash the jm7 again because of the bug in Voodoo beta 3 which keeps the processor 100% all time long.
According to the instructions on voodoo lagfix website, you have to convert the filesystem from ext4 to RFS again, I did it succesfully.
Then I used odin, put the phone in download mode, usb cable and START on odin.
Problem is that odin was:
when I pushed start I got an error , and it didn't start, removed cable.Start again in download mode, start odin, then start again...
It did start but it was stuck on "do not turn off target!!!" for few minutes. So I had to stop it ( odin was running locally but my csc modem and code files were on a samba share, never took so long before )
Now when I turn on the phone I get an image like:
a pc and a mobile phone with an orange triangle with an exclamation point into it
and it won't start.
I have just the samsung usb drivers installed, and before doing this I did remove kies to save some space on C:
This is the first time it is behaving like this.
Did I brick the phone?
Thanks in advance any help is really appreciated.
P.s. at the moment I am installing kies again, download updates, and I ll try odin again.
you mean like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/GT-I9000

and now this?
all you need to do is go back to the download mode, which is this
then you can flash with Odin again
make sure all files are local
I mean the second image you posted mate.
Now it looks better guys!
I have reinstalled kies and used odin succesfully again.
Thanks again.

How were you able to get back to download mode? I did the same as you (unplugged when a flashing froze up) and can't get back to download mode..
Just that terrible 'orange triangle with exclamation mark' connect to PC symbol (does anyone know the technical name for this screen?)

[Q] Frozen at boot screen

i just bought the captivate off my friend for 150 the problem is when you turn the phone the screen stays on the att world phone screen and then you can hear sound but the screen stays the same and it doesnt change so i was wondering if there is a way to fix this
Do you know if your friend kept it stock?
honestly i have no clue but i believe he did
Sounds like he didn't and that's why he sold it so cheap. Go to this thread and get the tools you will be needing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439. Install the drivers then download the .zip and extract the files, download the pda.tar. Run Odin as administrator put the pda.tar in the pda slot and the pit file in the pit slot.
Next power off the phone and remove the SIM, your external sd card and battery. Plug the usb cable into the computer only then press and hold the volume up and down buttons at the same time, don't touch power, put the battery in and plug the usb into the phone. You should be in download mode, Odin should see your phone push start and let Odin run. This will take you to a working phone, just like it was when it came from AT&T.
Good luck and let us know if it works.
First of can you should never have paid him for the phone if it wasn't fully working when you got it.
Second can you get into download mode? If so then get the one click odin and flash back to stock and you will have a working phone. If you can't get into download mode then demand your money back from him and drop him as a friend.

I linked him to c3poLOL's Odin package instead that way if he has a borked three button combo this will fix that too. I agree, not a good friend, sounds like he soft bricked it before selling it. Should be fixable and then it's a steal, if it was off contract.
You sure he is a friend
Captivate
Cog 2.2
this didnt work because the phone did not show up on my computer even after i installed the drivers and odin
Try using a different usb port on your pc, one in the back where the motherboard is, perhaps you need more power, I've seen this happen. Are you familiar with adb? Are you able to get into download or recovery mode using the three button combo. ADB will work from the recovery screen.
I had the same issue today someones rom screwed up my phone and it would boot up with sound, but be stuck at the att screen. Wasnt able to activate download mode with buttons or adb, because permissions werent granted. So my advice for anyone else that has this problem get superoneclick to root your device and get permissions ( I used Z4 root which i will never do again) and run cmd.exe type in the path you have for example mine was C:\Users\PEGLEG\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb shell (modify it for where you have yours, then type in reboot download, and you should get into the download screen where odin will fix your device.
my phone is also "frozen" at a boot up screen.

[Q] I9000 unable to boot.

My sons UK i9000 has a problem, the touch keys were not working and the screen was cracked., so a replacement part was bought and new screen fitted.
The phone booted fine, but the new touch keys did not work, so we tried to update the touch key firmware with *#*#2663#*#* but then the phone refused to boot.
We tried to reflash to a stock rom, which went all ok with odin, but the phone never got past the galaxy s screen.
We have tried loads of different stock and custom roms, including darky's ressurection, but they all either boot to the galaxy s screen and go no further, or boot to the galaxy s screen then reboot after a short while.
Is there anything we can do, we can still access recovery and download mode.
Many thanks.
did you flash the official rom using the ".pit" file? i can only suggest this and this
hope it helps

Many thanks for the links, tried the gingerbread rom you linked to, phone boots to galaxy s screen, stays there for a while, then constant reboots again.
I'm having the same problem as OP.
Does anybody have any other ideas?
Flash stock JVT firmware (check repartition) use 512 pit, flash Semaphore kernel. Go into CWM recovery, do a factory wipe. It should be good.
Nope, same problem, everything passes ok in odin, but the phone still reboot loops.
Would a faulty touch key cable cause it to do this or maybe something more serious?
Many thanks.
put your device in download mode and use this:

I tried to recover my galaxy s I9000 using odin, i had the 512 pit file and stock rom image 2.2froyo, and now mine doesnt even come on anymore, i could get it to go into download mode when the flash failed by taking the battery out unplugging usb, then plug usb in, hold both volume buttons and insert the battery, that worked for me until odin had succeeded, everything was correct, I did days and days of research about it before I went through with it, but now that it successfully flashed, the phone no longer enters download mode or see's any ounce of life, would the jig still work to force the phone to come on?
Tried the one click, first attempt it boots to the first GT I9000 and stays there.
Then tried with flash bootloaders ticked, but bootloops again.
Starting to loose faith in this phone.
if your son's phone was previously on Froyo, you may need to tick "flash bootloaders" in OneClick...

[Q] SGS Not able to boot after re-partitioned..

After flashing MIUI Jelly Beans I wanted to go back to stock 2.3 ROM to check on something and did a restore with CWM which didn't work because (as I've learned later) it uses different file system, anyway I've flashed s1_odin_20100512.pit file alone with Odin, and the result is that I can only turn the phone on in download mode.. What can I do now?
Thanks to everybody in advance..
I've tried to flash stock ROM using the method mentioned in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
and after finishing, Odin gave me "Fail".. What does it mean and what should I do now?

you have KIES running in the background shut it down, get solutions from My Android Solutions for Odin stuck
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT SD card, press power
button for a minute , than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card...make sure you
have more than 50% battery charge before you attempt any sort of flashing
Thanks a lot, and yes Samsung Kies was running in the background while I was trying to flash, I'll make sure it is shutdown this time, anyway the battery is almost at zero now and the phone isn't charging, so I'l have to wait for a friend who has SGS until tomorrow so I can charge the battery and try to flash the phone again.
On the other hand, I remembered something that might be important, which is that my phone have problems with internal memory (when you have error messages like "E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2"), not sure if it had something to do with failing to flash stock ROM besides having Samsung Kies running in background (because I got stuck on "Set Partition" in Odin only one time), so there might be something else ausing these problems..anyway I'll try to flash it again tomorrow and see what happens.
Thanks again.

You mean during flashing the ROM right? or should I flash bootloader separately?
(I didn't touch my phone yet, still waiting for my friend for recharging)

yup, just tick it, can be done separately too
Thanx a lot, the phone is working again, it turned out that you must use Windows account that have administrator privileges in order for the flashing process to work (not sure though cuase I've tried admin account after restart, so may be restarting PC was the answer)

Bricked s3 mini i8200n "Firmware encountered an issue" loop

Hey guys,
So recently i bricked my galaxy s3 mini value edition by trying to flash a stock rom using odin, through out the process something happened and it discounted. So now whenever i turn on the phone i get the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error message. It's a loop, which means i can not access the recovery mode nor download mode, either the side buttons works. After trying and trying, my phone slowly died out. Now it does not even turn on, it will only turn on when i charge it with a usb cable.
I tried everything i could, Searched and searched about this model and tried to re-flash but nothing is working?
Can anyone help me revive this phone? It's Samsung galaxy s3 mini i8200N value edition model running on 4.2.2
Hello, currently no one was able to solve this Kind of error with kies loop.. i did found 2 methods and the reason why it no more turns on.
First of all the problem is with this kies loop error your phone will no more Charge.
To solve you just need to Charge the battery outside your mobile phone.
I self bought cheap 3 time samsung s3 mini and tested debugged the problem.
So if you have friend with same battery/phone just use the other battery.
You can buy the phone for like 10$ in ebay auction then put other battery in the problem phone and the error loop will be gone and phone will stay turned on. (It is mostly when flashing the mobile with less then 60% battery loaded or got unplugged or wrong flashing rom was used etc)
Other method is to change battery self with other battery like remote control battery and cables where you put cable in the right battery PINs.
Then just try to put Rom Stock firmware in your phone with kies, smart switch or odin.

2. Open StockRecovery-i8200.tar
md5 (use your mobile model number insted i8200 if using other model)
3. Then click Start in Odin (will Show instantly after seconds PASS so Works)
4. Restart your mobile phone with Buttons ON + VOLUMEN DOWN + HOME BUTTON
5. TADA ..... AND DOWNLOAD MODE WORKS AGAIN AND JUST PUSH WITH ODIN THE STOCK FIRMWARE ROM FOR YOUR MODEL PHONE INTO YOUR MOBILE
PHONE IS REPAIRED/FIXED
