My Second Full Day with the N4 - Nexus 4 General

I am posting a follow up thread on my review of my new Nexus 4 16 after two full days of what I would consider normal use. I used the same routine I would be using with my trusty GNEX and spared the phone no mercy.
Call quality and reception has been excellent on the T-Mobile US network and some of my clients have actually asked me if I changed phones because I sound better on the new N4, a positive feedback.
Battery life is actually a little better then the GNEX and I have always say if you are so worried about the battery life, Buy a GOOD car charger and it solves that issue.
I have been impressed with the speed and smoothness of this stock 4.2 JB ROM, the screen swipe is smooth with no lag and the apps launch quickly. The screen sharpness is top notch and in my opinion better then my GNEX.
The network connection has been perfect with no dropped calls and I have always had a solid 3G or H icon in the status bar, it would be nice to have a battery percentage indicator in the status bar though.
I used the Google voice function when texting and sending emails and I was impressed how fast the response time was, very little lag time when I was talking and the text was been generated on the screen.
So far this phone has been everything I expected it to be, yes 4G would be nice but for what I use the device for, 3G & HSPA is fine.I did not buy it to watch movies or play games. I use it as a phone and PDA like it was meant to be used.
My only complaint is a personal preference, but why is the hour text font on the lockscreen digital clock so much bigger then the minutes, drives me nuts looking at it. Maybe there is a way to change it and I just haven't found it yet.
Just my feedback and what is now my daily driver. I can't wait until the developers start build customs ROM's for it. Thanks Google for a great device that is priced just right for the person looking for a reliable wireless device. ME.

The clock is just like that for effect. I actually like it, but I know many people won't. Someone on Reddit modified it to remove the bold. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.alamoapps.unboldedclockwidget
Remove the stock clock widget and add the new one

Cool, I dont understand your Movies reference. I have an Inspire 4g and it truley does not have 4g. Just HSPA. I play netflix all the time. Everyday. I don't think ppl understand the difference between 3g and HSPA. Its actually quite a bit. I hate when I am only connected to 3g.... ..

As a Gnex user... how is the screen in terms of black levels and light bleed? Do you notice it a lot ? I love the AMOLED displays so that alone might keep me from the N4
Thanks

Nope.

Yeap H = HSPA + = 4G under T-Mobile's network ... Not technically 4G as in LTE but close enough and fast enough for most users .. (Unless you upload and download massive files all the time)

I was also skeptical about the N4 screen, but now I like it and for me the colors are nice and the text is crisp. Just my opinion.

4G it's just a marketing campaign anyway as in really not even LTE it's 4G as they are completely different

Yeah, neither LTE or HSPA+ is 4G, I believe the real 4G is LTE-A.

If you got it from T-mous, can you try to see if tethering works? Does it have built in android tethering with usb and wifi option? Thanks

This screen in my opinion is the best I seen and I had just about every phone the blacks are black and the whites are super bright this phone is definitely fast everything opens instantly. This is why I say benchmarks mean ****.... Because this phone is insanely fast. I like it and the price made it even better. Battery life has been a little better then my s3 2 days is not really enough time to test that though. All in all I think you guys should be happy. I can not wait to see what this does with a good kernel

current hspa+ is not 4g
mimo multicarrier dc hspa+ is however..since it achieves 168mbps which is way beyond 4g standards
regardless..most lte used only get around 30mbps(that ive seen) so its not that far of a stretch..

So 4g is what? Speed only? I thought it was basically the generation after 4g...I don't think any 3g comes close to hspa+..my brothers often gets over 40mbps down..

4g definition=100mbps mobile, 1000mbps in close proximity
lte was never 4g, neither was dchspa since neither actually got to 100mbps

True 4g is 100mbps it is all a gimmick. But let me tell you 40down is fast and another thing to remember is you won't feel a different from 7down to 20 it's all fast really. It is just bull how the company's say it is 4g it's really 3.5 g if that makes sense lol

4G is 4th Generation and unless I am mistaken Wimax is the only true 4th generation because LTE, HSPA+ came after and LTE-A is still comming. There is so little difference in the different flavors that they have bunched all the brothers together in marketing as 4G.

You are just playing with words, true 4g etc..if it is fast, has great coverage and does not drain the battery like a hooker on Broad st then it is all good to me..screw lte..

Droid 4...

I know people have made threads about the droid 4 before but this is me pondering with myself when im bored. Do u guys realize that pretty much the only major significant differences between the d3 and d4 is the fact that the d4 has about 500 more mb ram than d3 and it runs at 1.2 GHz and ours run at 1.0... welll i was thinking... we have overclock now so there goes that difference. Plus as overclock progresses and as time goes by i feel like we could hit as high as 1.5 safely. So pretty much the only major difference is the ram butt whooocaress? Like not to brag about our phones but Once were unlocked (which i feel like wont be much longer) our phone literally will be superior to any other android phone. What do you guys have to say (;
P.s. i could be missing specs but i feel like those 2 are the major ones.

You forgot the LTE radio.
You also get ICS and Webtop support iirc
4g lte is major...
Will the Droid 4 be a Global phone again?
Yeahhh butt like i honestly feel like 3g is better than 4g i really do. I dont care for 4g at all.

i dont understand that. 4g is alot faster than 3g. only problem is battery life, and that is only if you dont know how to manage battery life ;]
What about the screen?
Another problem is that D4's LTE is only good for Verizon.
DYP, screen seems to be the same as D3's. Screenshots clearly showed pentile matrix and specs say TFT - so it must be the same crappy screen as D3.

Yeah i agree its faster but it pretty much is an upgraded 3g like it not always works. It sometimes drops. Data bills increase. Idk man i just dont really care for it. And yeah battery life decreases tremendously but once people are able to flash stuff for it it will improve. I feel like 4g has alot of improvement to do not gonna lie
Sent from my droid 3 using Tapatalk
cant lie about lots of that. 4g is a great technology, its the carriers that arent using it to its full potential. If you look at the actual 4g capable speeds and the speeds the carriers are letting us have, you will be even more disappointed lol.
The battery sucking isses will hopefully be obsolete once carriers get more heavily engaged in research using fuel cells.
Everyone says the Droid 4 is what the Droid 3 should have been.
For my part, yeah, it kind of gets on my nerves, but not too much. 1G of RAM would be nice, but I rarely run out with 512MB. I don't stream multimedia, so 3g is fast enough for me.
And the price was nice, $150 with a data plan. So I have no complaints.
As things stand now, the Droid 4 will probably be my next phone in a year or or so.

What bout the fact that you can be on the phone and go online at the same time. not sure if that is true but if thats the case then that will come in very helpful to me for work.
I didn't know about that. Yeah, that's pretty sexy. It's annoying when I get/make a lot of calls and my IRC session constantly drops.

Battery life is not the only problem. I bought a Bionic in early October but had regular issues with random data drops - so that I had no LTE, 3G or 1X - in area where I know there is strong and solid Verizon 3G. There was also a nationwide, 24 hour data outage when I was ten days in. I exchanged the Bionic for the D3 because it was the best 3G phone on Verizon.
Since then there have been two more nationwide LTE outages (which also takes out 3G for the LTE phone, but not for 3G phones), and the Bionic forums are filled with people still complaining about random data drops. (Apparently this is fixed with an LTE SIM swap, but who has time to keep going in to Verizon for a new SIM?) Meanwhile, my D3 has been a solid, solid, solid data device every since I got it in mid-October.
LTE is still not mature and I think I'll be happier locked in to a solid 3G phone like the D3 rather than an immature LTE phone (because surely the hardware and network will get better in the next year or so) for the next 20 or so months. I would be happier if the D3 had been 1 GB RAM, but I don't feel it's that big a deal. I can tell you that it's frustrating when you need data access somewhere and find that the phone isn't getting data where you know that it should be.
If you turn off LTE and force CDMA on your 4g phone, you can can be locked into 3G connectivity. That said, I like having a removal battery. I like that I have the choice to buy the extended. I think Droid 4 will be a bust tbqh. More memory would be nice but with Dpwhitty11's ROM, I don't have a need for it.
I don't honestly care. Hash has the ICS ROM coming along well and when it has the camera to me it will be perfectly stable for an Alpha. I am glad that it works and yeah 4G would be nice but I don't care honestly.

I do believe that someone is working on a ics rom for the RAZR. so assuming that the 2 phones will be comparable it should be relatively easy for someone to port it over to the droid 4 "ASSUMING" they are going to be similar.
Razr will get official ICS support, not sure why anyone would work on it on their own. It would merely be a waste of their time.

3G connectivity is still affected by LTE outages on LTE phones. If LTE is down (as I believe it was again toady), 3G almost always is as well, though it is not for 3G-only phones. I also had as many random data drops with CDMA only mode as I did with LTE/CDMA on the Bionic.

Nexus 4 vs Iphone 5

Hey guys,
Some of you know me from the s2, galaxy nexus, s3 ,etc review area. I usually post videos of case reviews and stuff and well just bought this new phone
So I shot 2 videos (because of the lack of cases yet)
My first one is this one.. The iphone 5 vs the NExus 4 .
http://youtu.be/E22FEVrtw58
it was obvious who was gonna win as im a google fan, but it was fun to play with both and been able to compare them
Enjoy!

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they've got a major OS interface overhaul in the works at the very least, especially given the departure of Scott Forstall who was a huge proponent of the skeuomorphic elements while the rest of senior management was less than thrilled by it.
Its time has come, and I've heard a surprising number of non-technical, average users say they as switching to Android just because they are "bored" with the iPhone and iOS, despite it probably being the best choice for them. Interesting when customers are jumping ship just because they want to see something new, not even because they need it.
Things are going to get interesting over the next 2 to 3 years, that's for sure.

iPhone 5. Nexus 4 does not have 4G LTE. The iPhone is also made of a strong, durable aluminum so it could last longer than the Nexus 4.

Then why are you in this forum?
Your argument is one-sided and ignores that the Nexus has benefits over the iPhone too. They are both great devices that excel in their own regard.
Ok, I have both of these right now and have been going back and forth between the two.
Here are my thoughts.
First of all I have everything Apple, iPads, Macbook, iMac's and AppleTV's.
The iPhone 5 is fast and "just works" without doing anything to it. iMessage is a great feature and I can text from any of the above listed devices, except the AppleTV of course, this is a big plus for me.
The iPhone 5 has a better camera and video recorder, I have done some test shots in the backyard and the pics and vids are crisper and cleaner on the iPhone 5.
The iP5 has a nice home button, I've found in the past few days using the N4, that when I pick it up its hard to tell which end is which end and to find the Power/Unlock key I usually have to twist it around to get it right.
The N4 screen glass is almsot too smooth, its kinds too slippery to text on, but I prefer the keyboard to the IP5's.
The N4 has the best to date software out there, I love JB 4.2 blows anything else out there out of the water.
The battery is better on the iP5, mainly because its never doing anything, there is no Google Now, no widgets nada running in the background. It is 1:40PM and I've had the N4 off the charger since 8am, and just with normal use the battery is already at 66%, which the iP5 is still in the 90's. But since I normally charge everynight, as long as I can get thru the day I'm happy.
Call quality is good on both, the speaker is louder and clearer on the iP5.
The N4 actually does pretty good without the LTE of the iP5, webpages load pretty good and even though I now how fast the LTE is on the Ip5 it wasn't too bad using the N4.
I'm really torn here, the N4 has Jb and 4.2 at the top of the list going for it, the hardware is good but not great.
The iP5 is a slightly better all around but is just, yawn too stale these days.
I've played with a new HTC One X + but I can't stand Sense and the UI, but that phone IMO is slightly better then the N4 and it also has JB, but only version 4.1.
Just my 2 cents.....

You're absolutely right. IOS is gonna do a major UI overhaul because they don't have a choice but to do so. Its been looking pretty much the same since it came out 5 years ago. Android keeps evolving and getting better, IOS is also great but too boring. Like you said the next few years are gonna be super exciting and we , the consumers , are gonna love it! Look out for WP mobile too.
As far as the nexus 4 vs iphone 5, they are both great phones but like the OP said in his video, the nexus suits me better. But gotta give credit where credit is due, iphone 5 is insanely fast especially when it comes to web browsing.

There is no "yes and no" as to whether something has LTE. The phone has LTE. Whether or not your carrier uses the bands the phone supports is another story. But the phone still has LTE regardless of whether your carrier uses those bands.

Indeed. The phone has a "LTE Chip" so its pretty much "a" LTE phone. It just isn't working properly on US carriers. Its there but not working right now. I'm glad tho, that it has LTE and I won't have to invest in a LTE phone when T-Mobile does push LTE!

Wrong. IPhone is encased in glass, just like the nexus. It has am aluminum rim, but that is actually more likely to damage the phone if dropped as the rim of the nexus 4 is rubber, significantly more shock absorbent. The nexus does indeed have an lte radio inside, its just not enabled out of the box because only one gsm carrier uses it. Besides, the bottleneck on browsing and download speed is generally the storage medium and processing speed, and the nexus 4 trumps the iPhone in processing power, if not storage write speed as well, providing a faster browsing experience. LTE and hspa+ have rarely shown any real world speed differences, the main difference is in latency, which largely depends on processor speed as well. It ends up just being a power hog with mostly unnoticeable performance increases. In general I think the nexus 4 trumps the iPhone.
In a year I have to switch to all apple products to go into sound engineering, but I may stick with android phones because the iPhone just isn't there. I'm going to get a Mac and an iPad but I won't buy an iPhone until they bring it up to spec with the latest android phones.

The iPhone 4 and 4s was glass, but the iPhone 5 has a soft-touch aluminum backing.
I phone 5 also has LTE.

Nexus 4 vs Droid DNA

I have owned the Droid DNA for about a week now and really love it. But I can't help but be drawn back to wanting a N4 again. A couple reasons are that I feel the N4 will be more future-proof, and I can jump ship to a newer phone anytime by going contract-free. I still have 8 days to return this phone and wait for a N4 if I so choose. Below I have Pro's and Con's of each phone, but I have not used a Nexus 4 so if you could help me out on this and give any extra input that would be excellent! I am also more than happy to answer any questions about the Droid DNA.
Nexus 4 Pros:
-Unlocked bootloader, huge dev community
-Most recent software + updates
-Power button on side
-Cheaper. 350 + 45/mo x 24(1080) = 1430 for Straight Talk
-No Contract
-Resells well
Nexus 4 Cons:
-Touch screen sensitivity (doesnt register light touches, pinching+scrolling delayed)
-Issues with 4.2
-No LTE (yet, has Band 4 which is coming to Tmo soon and likely the new Google/dish network)
-Nav bar can take away screen real estate on the homescreen and some apps
-Light buzzing sound in earphone
DNA Pros:
-Taller 1080p screen, thin bezel
-Capacitive buttons
-4g LTE
-Mifare Classic NFC chips work
-Minimal amounts of software and hardware bugs, 4.1 is more stable
DNA Cons:
-Likely not to have as many ROM options. No S-OFF yet
-2 year contract! Verizon.
-1080p can result in pixelation or small icons in some games/apps
-More expensive 200 + 90/mo x 24(2160) = 2360 for 2 years(90/mo for a line + 5gb data)
-MicroUSB cover (not a huge deal with wireless charging)
-Power button on top isnt the easiest to press, bad position too
-4.1 and won't get updates as often
Shared Attributes:
-Can be rooted, bootloader can be unlocked
-LCD Screen
-16gb Internal/No microsd
-Wireless charging
-Battery life ~4.5hrs screen-on time
-Great build quality (matter of opinion here, both are excellent in their own way)
______________________________________________________________________
Update #1
Got my N4 yesterday and here's my initial thoughts on the phone and comparison to having the DNA:
Things I like on the N4:
-The N4 is much smoother + snappier, likely from the lack of sense bloat and lower res screen.
-The N4 is a more comfortable size, power button + volume rocker are 10x easier to use, build quality is excellent. Looks nicer w/o DNA red accents.
-The N4 has much more options with custom roms (duh)
-The monthly payment on this phone is half the price, and I'm still consistently getting 15mb/s on speedtest using Straight Talk Tmo
Things I miss on the DNA:
-Wide angle front facing camera! I will miss this the most
-Placing the phone face down automatically turns speakerphone on, picking it up switches back to normal.
-While the glass back on the N4 is stylish, I still prefer the rubberized feel of the DNA on the back. But the sides of the N4 is more comfortable, and when I hold the phone that's usually all my hands come in contact with.
Side notes:
-The N4 sensitivity is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have to try really hard for it to miss touches. The DNA was more sensitive since it was impossible to miss touches on. I think the N4 smoothness outweighs the DNA's touch sensitivity though.
-The difference between the 1080p screen and 720p screen has not been noticeable.
-Mifare Classic NFC tags from Tags4Droid still work on the N4, for some reason..
I can give more updates in the future

Update #2
Here's another update:
First I would like to mention that I have a 2nd run Nexus 4. I have no idea if any of the previous issues are fixed because of this, but I thought I would just put that out there.
The N4's on screen buttons are much easier to press than the DNA capacitive buttons. The hit box for the DNA buttons were pretty much right on the icons whereas the N4 buttons take up sections and are customizable in size. Another benefit is having the Settings dots show up in the nav bar rather than making a new bar for the settings button like on the DNA.
Addressing some of the N4 Con's previously listed before I owned the phone in the OP:
-Touch screen sensitivity (doesnt register light touches, pinching+scrolling delayed)
Touch sensitivity is great, it's REALLY hard to get it not to register a touch. pinching to zoom is still delayed in some apps though.
-Issues with 4.2
Haven't experienced one of these yet. Bluetooth is great, paired and streamed music seamlessly in my car. No instability or reboots, it's hands down the smoothest phone I've ever used (especially when you reduce or turn off animations). Battery life seems to be fine, maybe its Franco's kernel. Charges fine. December exists.
-No LTE (yet, has Band 4 which is coming to Tmo soon and likely the new Google/dish network)
Not only is LTE band 4 rolling out to Tmo soon, but I'm getting consistent 15 mb/s speedtests on HSPA+. The last thing I care about right now is LTE.
-Nav bar can take away screen real estate on the homescreen and some apps
After having the phone a few days I got Paranoid Android and use the "Phablet UI" which cut my nav bar and notification bar size in half which is perfect for me. I usually have the notification bar hidden via Nova Launcher most of the time anyways. Not having the DNA's settings bar show up in apps is nice as well. The DNA still has more real estate overall because of the longer 5 inch screen, but the N4 has no problems with usable space.
-Light buzzing sound in earphone
Sound quality is excellent, loud and clear, no buzzing noticed as of yet. I may not be capable of hearing it though.
I can have a more wrapped up review of the 2 phones in a week or so that combines all these updates.
Tough call. But N4 + XDA = Happiness

Done. I meant to put S-off rather than unlocked bootloader. And i put (yet) next to LTE because no US carriers use Band 4 yet, but Tmo is rolling it out soon.

4.2 has symptoms of being more like beta and 4.1 is more stable. Its not a huge con because it's likely to be fixed up very soon.

Yeah 4.2 does seem like it was kind of thrown together to ship with nexus 4 and 10 bit nonetheless still a great OS... Seems unfinished/rushed

I picked it up to try it out since the N4 was on back-order, and to test Verizon. The phone is pretty impressive, and Verizon is good but I can't tell any difference from the Tmo service I just switched from.
If the Droid DNA worked on my network I would've gone for it. The most I'll keep a phone is 2 years so I don't really care much for "support".
I have a full day from my work week where I can enjoy that 1080p display so it's a big thing for me.
Um, why are you paying $70 a month for T-Mobile? I'm getting pre-paid $30 month plan which gives 5GB of 4G data (then unlimited capped data), unlimited text along with 100 minutes (which can be easily bypassed with VOIP)

I am aware of that plan, but I use around 1200 minutes as it is my business phone as well. I can't afford to hassle with grooveip for that same reason. If I just used the phone for personal use I would definitely jump on it the $30 plan.

Then why not go with a Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM? Unlike the AT&T SIM, people rarely get throttled until well after 5gb of usage.

That would be excellent, but don't they throttle/cut off at 2gb or 2.5gb? At least that's what I seemed to be reading most often, if you have any sources that state otherwise that would be great
Seems like a no brainer to me. No contract, cheap price and latest updates. Only downside is no 4g.
Kinks in 4.2? The fact the DNA is still only on 4.1 should be a con.

I agree with this, what kinks in 4.2? I haven't run into a single problem with my phone. Not a single fc or bug. Are the people commenting actually using this phone!?
The DNA is nice, I saw one the other day, but you just can't beat pure Google and unlocked. Also I use T-Mobile monthly 4g and I get speed test of 16-20Mbps down, and that is on hspa+ 15( that is the network type it says when I speed test), not even hspa+ 42. I need lte why??

I have no sources other then random people claiming so, but Straight Talk AT&T does usually throttle at around 2GB. They don't have as many Straight Talk T-Mobile customers though and, as such, don't throttle until 5GB or even after. I've seen a few screenshots of 10GB+ used with a ST T-Mobile SIM without getting throttled.

That's good to hear, I'm mostly basing that 4.2 kinks statement off reddit threads. Does Bluetooth work for you? Have you tested Mifare Classic NFC tags?

wow thats really good to know! I'll at least try it out for a few months and if they boot me or throttle hard I'll switch to Tmo, thanks! I'm pretty positive I'll be going for the N4 now and returning my DNA. N4 is in stock today!
You will probably be happy with both, both are the two best phones out and it comes down to nexus or no nexus. Want a smaller real estate and less dense screen in exchange for unlocked bootloader or a 1080p screen with a very good build quality and sense(I don't consider a hinderence) in exchange of a locked bootloader, less devs and longer update wait times

Major Office Phone-Off

LOL we just had a speedtest in our office, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, Galaxy S3, and Nexus S against my Nexus 4. All connected to the same wifi network. My speeds were ahead of all other devices by over 2MB/s. Then we tested browser load and the N4 loaded endgaget before the iPhone 5 even connected to the site. Lmao..everyone was in shock and disbelief. Booyakasha
nice .....
Same here. Even connecting to my HSPA+ straight talk network is faster than most. I did a speed test against a Droid RAZR on VZW's LTE network (with full signal) where we both downloaded the facebook app at the same time, and mine had it downloaded and installed before the razr even finished downloading the first megabyte. > Very, very impressed with this phone. My Nokia E7 on the same network is not even remotely capable of the same speeds.
Are you sure the iPhones were being held correctly? I jest.
Booyakasha!

Haha I figured that, couldn't resist.
My hspa speed varies wildly depending on where I am in NYC, but the phone is stellar and anything over 1-2 Mbit is usually plenty for what I'm doing. It's rare I get the annoying streaming video pause that's about it.
I do notice a huge improvement in speed pulling music out of my collection off my nas at home. WiFi is at least 3 times faster than my GNex, at home for me anyway.

Ex-EVO LTE Owners...

I'm basically a phone addict. I've had the PPC-6700, Mogul, Vogue, TP, TP2, EVO, and now EVO LTE. The EVO was the only phone that I've kept for the life of my two year contract. I'm one year into my EVO LTE and there's nothing really wrong with it other than the fact that I'm bored.
Was the upgrade worth it to you guys or now that the novelty has worn off? Let me know!
Worth it, totally. The qualcomm s600 has some balls and sense 5 is the fastest version ever
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 2
Honesty, if I didn't have an upgrade, I could have waited. I was on the evo 4g lte as well. I have 4 phone lines on my plan, so I get to upgrade every year. I was running meanbean from the start then went to sense 5. I'm sure it's even better now.
I think the biggest difference is the sound from the front facing speakers.
It is much faster, but I'm not a gamer, do that's pretty much a wash.
It is beautiful and build quality is awesome. I use cases on my phones, so that's a wash as well.
The camera is way better on the ONE as well.
If you're really deadset on upgrading, I'm sure the evo is still worth something. I got $100 for the old og evo.
Just my $.02 of course.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 2
completely worth it for me, i got so sick of the lte reception issues with the lte. battery life is amazing and the speakers are great for watching movies or streaming music at work.
Well, I had the Evo LTe and my wife still has it.
Honestly, I don't see the rush to update. I called Sprint they gave me a deal buy back my contract on the EVolte and cost me $380.00 for the early upgrade. Trust me... The EVo Lte is up too par with the Htc One. Except the live feeds, some camera features and display. But overall camera, performance and speed the EvoLte is equally matched.

I have to disagree. With 2 gb of ram, multitasking finally works right. Also, when sending mms, its far faster on the One to attach pics to the mms, including more than one pic. If its an AOSP rom on the LTE, then yeah its kinda close.
I have had the HTC Touch Pro, The HTC Touch Pro 2, EVO, Evo3D, EVO LTE, HTC One. The evo was ahead of it's time, but the 3D was actually one of my favorite upgrades. It was fast, going to the evoLTE from the 3D wasn't that impressive in my opinion. I always had issues with wi-fi on the evoLTE. It was a good phone but not something I was blown away on. The HTC ONE is amazing. The speakers alone are worth the upgrade. The way it's built is HTC's best built phone ever. It's super fast, battery rocks, wi-fi actually works correctly (at least for me). It's a very worthy upgrade, I couldn't wait to get rid of my evo LTE again mainly cause I had wi-fi issues. Could have been just my hardware. The one had worked perfect for me so far except my simulated battery pull doesn't seem to work correctly. Other than that, it's the most impressive upgrade I have had since I have been using smart phones. All the evo devices I have had on release day so I have had plenty of time using each one.
Paid for my one outright. Bit my wallet pretty bad, but it's worth every cent. The screen, the speakers, the cpu, the build, everything kicks the crap out of the lte. The ONLY thing that bothers me is...no miss my kickstand. I go to put my phone down and ..I...I don't know what to do with myself. Although the thing that has kept me the most happy so far is working radios. Consistent 3g, and I can actually hold an lte signal now!

Thanks everyone. I have 5 lines on my account so I have an upgrade to use. I was worried about the One being able to hold an LTE connection because of some of the threads I've read. This is the only thing that bothers me about the ELTE.

I don't regret upgrading in the slightest. My evo battery life was so god aweful and random freezes, I had so many problems with it. The HTC One is like a godsend to me. I love being able to listen to pandora at work and at the end of the day still have 30 percent battery life left.

Im an ex evo user. I got1and a half times the battery life with it. No comparison whatsoever. If course I used custom kernel but I am with this phone also. But with the evo I could have5 hours screen on and still get a total of 20 hours use. Just my 2 cents. My son had the evo as I gave it to him and he laughs when I have to charge this phone. We don't have lte where we live so thats not an issue. And for this camera being better I'm not sure that's the case either. We have done comparison shots and in my opinion the right megapixel it's definitely better in certain situations by far. Just my input. Thanks.

I don't regret this phone even for one second, much more solid and better connections, speakers are also great!! I do miss the kickstand however and regarding photos I've taken some very nice outdoor pictures and the low light aka indoor photos blow the evo lte away for sure, I took pics side by side in a dimly lit room evo u could barely see a chair of sorts the one u could see the chair the detail on the cushin and the dresser on the other side and also the wall 5 ft behind it instead of just darkness..I'll try to grab some side by sides and show u what I mean

I was just a original Evo user - now I have the One - what a great phone. HTC understands what were about.
Get the One. I still have my Evo LTE and I do comparison and the One just outshines it. Better display. True multitasking, doesn't reload every app after leaving it. Better sound quality with and without headphones, you definitely can tell a difference. No lag issues at all. For instance. Download a torrent file on your Evo LTE, that phone will lag like hell. Do the same with the One, it will perform with no lag. If you're a gamer go with the One. Just get it. Best phone I've had.
My phone history is Motorola Q, HTC Mogul, Sidekick LX, IPhone, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, Evo 4G, Evo LTE, now the One.

Have had each "EVO" (4G, 3D, 4g-LTE) since I came back to Sprint a while ago...
In Chicago, we've had LTE since last Fall. I do notice a difference in Speed (3-5Mbps faster in some areas) vs. my "4gLT-EVO." That alone was worth it to me!
:good:

Forgot that. 4G fights to light up on your phone. The LTE would stay on 3g until I cut my mobile network off and back on.

Yep, Got rid of my LTE for the One, the only thing that's taking me a while to get used to are my capacitive buttons. I just found out that double tapping the home button brings up the recent apps lol. I miss the camera buttons as well.
But once you get used to that, everything else is great. I love it, love Zoe, love the sound, screen size, and the hassle-free 4G. I've had it for almost 2 weeks now and I'm yet to root it, longest I've gone, so, no complaints here.
While I was driving to the sprint store to get my One I kept saying why am I getting this new phone? After I got it there's no question that it was the right decision lol both moms have evo ltes now and I could never go back
