[Q] Questions related to Htc Desire C. - HTC Desire C

Just got Htc Desire C (4 Gb built-in) without the Sd-Card and I'd like ask a few questions about it.
1) Why is the user available memory only 1 Gb instead of 4 Gb (built-in 4 Gb is written on the box)? What's taking 3 Gb of space?
2) This set has a lot of pre-installed apps, which most of them are useless for me. I can't uninstall but can disable them. I even did a factory reset to see if those apps disappear but they didn't so I disabled them again one by one. Is there a way to uninstall them forever?
3) How do access the user available Internal Storage (1 Gb) from my Pc so I can add some music/videos/pictures in it? Cause every time I connect it via Usb cable into my Pc then only the 95.23 Mb Phone Storage appears which is too low to add some music/videos/pictures.
4) Difference b/w Phone Storage, Internal Storage & Storage Card?
5) I've downloaded some apps which require a Sd-Card like some android media players. Why is that so, despite the fact my phone has ≃ 1 Gb of free space...
Thanks.

GOOD Questions !! [But totally nOOb]
Reading ur Q seems ur r new at android
Here are ur answers :good:
1) HTC Desire C comes with 4GB of bundled internal memory but 3GB of its is allocated for the Android [ROM , System func..] dat's the reason u have to play within 1GB.
2)These are all stock app which comes preinstalled with the stock ROM if u even disabling it will not work so if u want to get rid of these apps first u need to ROOT ur Desire C and then Download ROM TOOLBOX from the market [Play store]
IF u want a GUIDE on how to root Desire C plzz visit my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011209
3)Since Its a new phone in market we have not got enough Dev's to work on it , I am currently trying to hack the phone to extract some amount of internal memory so plz wait till i get a result
4)Phone Storage : Its some sort of data space given to u by the phone . Just in simple words u can use this storage for anything
Internal Storage : There is always a Internal Storage card in every smartphone for its System data and ROM functionality
SD cards : SD cards / Storage cards are removable external userspace for the user :good:
5) Many of the apps store there data on SD bcoz they are jst not simply allowed to use dat 1 GB of space . Sorry bro we cant do anything for it
IMP : For Ur interest i recommend u to refer my GUIDE from the link given above do every thing as i mentioned there ur android life will boost i guarantee
IF MY POST HAS HELPED U PLZZ PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON :good:

[Help|Memory|How] How to Increase Internal mem

Sorry Guys out there , i know this is a ****ing annoying question because people out there are all over to solve this problem and this problem was "SOLVED"
But , i've face a problem , i think i don't need to mention much ?
Galaxy Ace :internal memory around 170mb .
Youtube -9mb
Talkbox - 10mb
Facebook - 19mb (+Data 20-40 mb ) = 50-60 mb ?
Thats enough , thats what i've got for my Ace , i have a Custom ROM like CM7.1
How can i get more internal rom since the data for Facebook are huge for ACE? I saw somebody get around 1gb internal storage for galaxy ace ? But i've tried everything , partition sd ...it almost pwned my sd card ?
Could anyone suggest me a working method even you suggest partition , nevermind , just give me the right method to partition and how to partition sd card please.
Well, there are many ways you can do so.. I would personally prefer using int2ext+. Here you go...
Some Basic Requirements :
1) A rom with init.d support (so that the scripts run on it)
2) Ext partition on your memory card (i recommend ext4)
3) Mini partition tool (for partitioning your memory card)
4) Memory card reader.
Steps:
1) Mount your memory card to your computer using a memory card reader!
2) Backup all you data, the process will wipe your memory card.
3) Open mini partition tool and delete the partition
4)Now you should see all the space as unlocated, create a primary partition which should be fat(if your memory card is less than 4gb) or fat32 (if 4gb or more)
5) Next, use the leftover unlocated space to make the secondary partition ie. Ext4.
6) All set, hit apply.
7) After it all done, copy back all your data to the card.
Using int2ext+ :
1) It is provided as a flashable zip for flashing directly from the recovery.
2) After the fresh install of a rom ( not necessasary but highly recommended) flash it!
And voila, if you followed all the steps correctly, the internal memory should be showing up the same size as your ext partition!
*Note* I AM NOT PROVIDING ANY LINK, SEARCH FOR THEM, IT'S TOO EASY!
PS- There are already many threads with similar questions, use search before posting next time!

Use a different Facebook client like Fast for Facebook, its only 4MB and is way faster. Use an App2SD script if you like.

can i resize device memory 2gb !!!

when i install apps and some apps need to install in device memory and phone go very slow , i have 16 gb integrated and 16gb sd but device memory is only 2gb very interesting, if have any solution please help.
Witch memory are you talkin about?
RAM, you cannot do anything unless removing bloatware.
Storage aera, you can try to move some apps to external sdcard or use the preload partition.
Anyway, phone slowing down is the sign of low RAM, so you should try to remove apps you are not using.
Search here in XDA for apps safe to remove like "social hub", "music hub" and so on.
Remember that you'll need a rooted device to do so.

You can repartition your Internal storage increasing "data" partition - to have more than 2GB for installing apps. Look in the forum. I've seen repartition info for 4GB,6GB etc. Just search in forum.

Fix for Android phones running low on internal memory (without rooting)
The first, simplest and safest step is to delete dumpstate/logcat files.
Dumpstate, logcat files are stored on the /data/log partition that, unless you root the phone, you and none of the apps you install will have access to.
The following method does not require you to root the phone or install any apps and will probably free up more memory that any other method.
Method:
1. Dial *#9900# - This will bring up the following screen - Sysdump
2. Hit the 'Delete dumpstate/logcat' button. Hit OK on the confirmation dialog.
3. Scroll to the end of the screen and hit 'Exit'
That's it!
I've seen about 800MB freed the first time I used this.
As a next step I'd recommend the 'Clean Master' free app to manage your cache, data, moving files to SD card etc
thanks buddy

2) Storage
= a) System storage=1.97GB (spec says 2GB)....I understand it as a ROM and app application get installed here....
=b) USB storage = 11.31GB (spec say 16GB)...I understand its internal memory
My question is
1) why USB storage is only 11.31 for user.........
2) Does S advance is or rooted or unrooted ph.
3) I want to make a secondary partition on USB storage (say 4GB or more)

Actual user available RAM is always lower than the specified capacity. Like on the GS3, around 800MB of RAM is usable out of a reported 1GB. It's the same for every phone out there. Nothing unusual about it.
Again, actual formatted capacity is less. There is a reason why a 1TB hard drive doesn't give you full access to 1024GB. You only get something around 800 or so. So like RAM, nothing unusual.
Not to mention, your 16GB total memory is divided into user available memory and internal system memory.
Rooting your phone is something which you need to do separately. Going by your RAM capacity, it seems you have JB. (didn't known that S Advances in stores come with JB pre installed) Search the development thread for Shaan's root if you want to get toot access on your phone.
Secondary partition om flash storage? Seems kind of pointless because capacity isn't too high either.
After installing the application, go to the application manager and select the specific app. Once the app options open, you will see an option to move the app to your SD card.
By default, most large applications only put their apk installation into the the system storage. The data is put into the user available 11GB anyway.
If you choose to move it the SD card, application performance will take a hit.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Repartition internal memory for more space for applications

Hi everybody, I am currently trying to solve a problem with not having enough space for my applications on the N7000.
I consider myself a power user that uses many applications, and I do not really understand why a phone with 16GB internal storage and the possibility of an micro sd card, which I have allocates so little space to applications.
I have searched a lot on the internet and on this forum, and the only thing I could find was how to swap the internal memory with the micro sd card, which is not really what I would like to do. I trust more in the internal memory, and I prefer to have all my media (pictures, videos and documents on my micro sd card).
So the question is, can I increase the size of the data partition from 1.97GB to lets say 3 or even 4GB?
If yes, how could I do that?
Currently I am using 1.71 GB / 1.97 GB and I still get not enough space for applications when I am trying to update something like Facebook or any plus 20MB application.
Could anyone explain why this is happening?
I don't know any way to extend the internal data partition but in order to get more storage for apps I can recommend you the app Link2SD which uses a second partition on your external sd card. You can get it for free from play store and it's not really complicated. All you need to do is create that second partition on your sd card. I'd give it a try if I were you.

This post explains how:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887864
You need at least noob knowledge of adb (ie copy-pasting commands).
The second command was
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
rather than
parted /dev/block/mmcblock0
I've just done it on my Note.

Hi Please can you help me with repartitioning my samsung gal gtn7000 internal storage for me ?
Thanks
Hi,
I have the Note GT-N7000 with Android stock 4.1.2 and i'm not rooted.
I have a problem with my 1,97 GB partition which is full.
Does this method require root ?
I ever use root + Link2SD on anothers devices. Which methode do you recommend for the note to free up space ? Link2SD or this method ?
Are there others solutions ?
Thanks
I would go for rooting, repartitioning and installing a new kernal that supports trim and a new up to date ROM. I chose this method for my wifes N7000 as being able to TRIM the emmc chips has really brought it back to life, almost no lag normally, just like when it was new. I installed the latest NightOwl (it's really just Cyanogenmod but with extra bug fixes etc). First you need to repartition as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642299 though I followed a procedure (as I had already installed CM11 I had to go back to stock first) called "How to re-partition Galaxy Note and install Android 5.1.1", there is a link to it on one of the XDA threads I mention in this post and it is on the net (sorry can't find link now). Then I flashed NightOwl http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-t2938649 . This Kernal & ROM are patched so risk of bricking is not any(much) higher than normal I think (though you do this at your own risk). Also being able to choose smaller GApps package further reduced bloat for me.
The only drawback is if you use the Samsung apps a lot you will not be able to install then on new ROM as you need the Samsung framework, but there are altenative apps for all of them, though I guess if you need to import actual data into new apps that may not always be possible.
Just make sure you backup all your personal files, like whatsapp photos etc that are stored on internal SD (sdcard0) as this will be wiped. Also your IMEI settings (with an IMEI app), address books, calender etc
No need to worry about ROOT as you can easily turn it on and off in developer options, I only turn it on when I need to run an app that requires it, then turn off again for added security.
Thanks for your answer, i will check the repartition method you linked.
