Bag Suggestions For Nexus 7? - Nexus 7 Accessories

So I have a large backpack for carrying around my laptop + whatever else but when I'm going somewhere casual & I only really need my tablet it's a bit unnecessary! What do you guys (yeah, guys specifically, girls not such a problem with just a handbag) carry it around in when you really only have that, your wallet, phone, keys etc?
Thinking of a really small shoulder bag/satchel type deal but I'm not really sure.

I got a small shoulder bad from Amazon - search for Brown Canvas Small Travel Portfolio Shoulder Bag (I can't post the link yet)
It seems durable and well made, especially for the price (10 bucks w/shipping) Holds my Nexus 7 with case, phone, cables, cards, bluetooth headset and WiiDrive.
I'm very happy with it. The color is more UPS-like than in the picture.

I've only had my N7 since Friday and not really been out with it, but when I picked it up from my mums on Friday I had my Notebook with me so I put it in there. When around the house I just put it in my jogging bottoms pocket or carry it in my hand. Will have to buy something more safe to carry it in other than using a pocket in the long run though.

I have this bag, love it, but it is more... surplus-build than anything quality. I do love and use it though.

My all-time favorite bag in history, though, is my STM Scout tablet bag:
http://www.stmbags.com/catalog/ipad-bags/scout2-for-ipad-shoulder-bag/
This thing is FANTASTIC. Seriously, it is quality product. I get compliments on it all the time, the padding is incredible. The only issue I have with it is its made for a 10-incher, but honestly, I don't mind because it can fit pretty much any case you could possible have, and carry plenty of essentials for a day-trip. Cannot explain how much I like this bag. In fact, STM in general makes awesome stuff, and their support is top notch. I lost the key clip, and they sent me a new one free of charge.
I have a bag problem, it seems

Perfect, super small messenger bag for Galaxy Tab

Hello all, i seem to have found a pretty sweet little bag that fits the Galaxy Tab and several accessories quite nicely and also is rather small.
Its made by SwissGear and called the SwissGear Travel Shoulder Bag.
( at target for onlu $11.99 !!, http://www.target.com/Swiss-Gear-Over-Shoulder-Travel/dp/B002JD0S1M )
Its marketed as a camera bag but works great w/the Tab. I have a review and pics up on my blog at:
http://blogs.tech-recipes.com/seamo...g-swissgear-travel-shoulder-bag-quick-review/
Looks good but lacks a padded pocket. I can see myself using this when the weather gets nicer on day excursions outside, etc.
Nice find, thanks for posting it. I was looking for something similar.

Based on your review I thought I'd pass by my local Target and check it out. It is a very nice bag and see what you're talking about. My Target had it on clearance for $19.99. I was about to fight to get the internet price when I came across the Swiss Army carry on bag (named differently on their website.) It's just slightly larger but just enough.
Check it out - http://goo.gl/AyZbD
Either one would work for most people. Since I carry multiple chargers and IT stuff, this worked a little better.
That keyboard looks like the BEEWI BBK200 ?
What is it like ?
I've been looking at messenger bags for a while now. I got a larger chrome bag awhile back for travel, and I am very pleased with it. I have been thinking I might get another for more casual use, smaller and simpler. I am definitely going to stop by target and take a look at this swiss tech bag simply because of price.
Here are my other, more pricey candidates:

i believe that is the one, i got it from meritline i believe. its ok, i've realized that thumb keyboards are only as good as the button layouts; its not really optimized for two finger thumb typing but does the trick when i need a keyboard for the tab or phone or ps3.
thats a nice find too! i'm a fan of the swissgear stuff, i have their luggage set too; so far its made it across coast to coast twice this year.
Question about your awsome messenger bag. Do you think it would hold the samsung galaxy keyboard dock?

I find these adidas city/messenger bags are an almost exact fit for the Tab..
I have 4 different styles and the tab just fits like a glove!
hmm, i don't think it will. the keyboard may be too big fit. is it the same size as the Tab (bt keyboard dock)?

Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack

So I was looking for an efficient way to tote around my nook, ecig stuff, and and other odds and ends to and from work, and while I'm out in the field.
I generally don't carry around enough stuff to warrant a backpack or a messenger bag, but saw that a coworker had a Versipack, and suspected that the rear/CCW pocket the perfect size for the nook... so I picked one up, and it is. Now I just need a name tape to make this one mine.
So for anyone who's interested, here's the Maxpedition link, but it can be had cheaper at other various online vendors:
http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/FATBOY-VERSIPACK-4p31.htm
And of course some photos; as you can see it even accommodates the nook with silicone skin and neoprene sleeve. The pack itself is very well-made and looks to be extremely durable. Thumbs-up on this.
I agree the fatboy versipack is great for this. I had the type-s for my kindle originally, now I use it for my wookie (nickname for my wonderful nookie), Evo, usb cable, wall adapter, keys, and a few other things. I love my fatboy =)

I think I might laugh at a guy I saw with one of these, until I noticed that they're designed as ccw holsters! The only problem I can see with it is can it hold my Sig and my nc at the same time?
Ha, I used to have one of those. Good thing to see the Nook fits!
I have a fatboy and upgraded to a colossus, the colossus carries my 9" netbook, nook, nook color and a ton of other items (ds, flashlight, multitool, 1911, blackberry, droid, gps) with some external pouches from tactical tailor. Technology addiction is a horrible thing...

Cool, that's a really nice pack too, just too large for my edc needs.
Aaahh... the good ol' Fatboy... I think I had one of every color at one point LOL, even a few Jumbos'. I'm also an EDC junkie... Right now I'm pimpin' a Tactical Tailor Modular Operator Pack for large edc/shtf, a Tactical Tailor Enhanced Daypack (now discontinued) for regular daily EDC. The Nook fits perfectly in the slip pocket behind the admin area of that. Then theres' a custom bag I had made that acts as a removeable organizer that I keep in the latter. This list goes on....
*Stay AWAY from Kifaru gear, your wallet will hate you....
Yeah a little too large for me as well, but I think Ill get the
JUMBO S-TYPE VERSIPACK
Looks like it will be good for my needs
Can you say....manpurse
I think you mean a small men's carryall.
What's the difference between S-type and non S-type?
I'm fairly sure one is right hand and one is left side. Can't remember which is which though.

Can the regular one hold a NC and a Dell mini 10v? Or would I need to get the Jumbo?

The regular one would hope the NC just fine but for the additional 10v you would need the Jumbo. I found that when loaded the Jumbo got too heavy and made me lean. Unless your a bigger person you may want to consider a small backpack like the Tactical Tailor removeable operator pack I just got. Nice and small and out of the way but still holds plenty. Got mine a few weeks ago and its fantastic.

thank you! i just purchased this!
I was looking at the fatboys but then someone mentioned that it isn't stylish enough. So I went searching and found the ultimate metrosexual carryall man purse. http://www.tombihn.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=001&Product_Code=TB0201 in cocoa/wasabi color combo. Fits the nook perfectly. Not to mention a bunch of other crap.
Lol, I just toss mine in my massive timbuktu messenger bag (similar color scheme), though it's seen better days. I think most of the guys looking at the fatboy aren't really going for that metrosexual look.

Best Case *SO FAR* :)

After trying several cases for my Nexus 7, knowing there aren't any specifically for the Nexus 7 at any retail stores, this was the best one I've come across. It will hold me over until an official case comes out (I've kept the receipt so I can return it). I just can't have such an awesome piece of tech sitting around without a case and without the ability to use it as a stand for viewing. The leather is genuine and the case is simply gorgeous. I love the way if holds the tablet without the clamps/rubberized holding mechanism actually rubbing or touching the bezel. All ports are accessible while it is in the case and the power/volume buttons are very easily accessible.
Found it at Fry's this morning on the way to work but it will set you back $59.99. One of the best portfolio stand cases I've ever owned for any of my devices. High end.

None, which is hard to say about most cases. I've always had something I've disliked about a case but have dealt with it. I've also always went for the cheaper the better in the past. This case is truly a "you get what you pay for" case. The way it holds the very edges of the tablet is my favorite part. It looks like it is floating in the case and the parts that hold the tablet in place never really become part of the view. The access to all buttons and inputs as well as the quality of the leather are great. The actual stand aspect allows for infinite viewing angles and never feels cheap, like the stand portion is going to collapse at any moment.
This case looks really nice. I personally want a colored case though and not the standard brown/black. Also, I'd rather pay a bit more for a case that I really like and thats going to last me a while then buy a cheap case that I'm not that into, deciding that Im not satisfied with it and having to buy more. So if I see something that I fall in love with then I don't mind pulling the trigger as long as its not 100+

Nice. It fits perfectly? Usually cases with the plastic clips are pretty picky about what they'll work with. If so, I'm thinking about buying one of these gtab 2 7.0 cases and adding a "smart cover" magnet to it.

I just pulled the edges on the 4 rubber ends out slightly, if that makes sense, and when the tablet was in place, they wrapped perfectly around each corner of the tablet. It takes a tiny bit of "fitting", but once it's on, it's all good.

How about the speaker in the back, is it covered or are there holes for it?
There are no holes for the speaker. I did a test at max volume and I have no idea why but it sounds louder with it in the case then out of the case. It could be the way it's configured with the speaker near flush but with a decimeter or so gap. I know with my phones and tablets that they tend to sound louder when they are angled near a wall and I seem to get the same effect with this case.

I don't know, may be not the same quality but it's hard to judge from photos, or even the prizes.
Only way to judge is hand-on experience like the OP's case, his case looks good also because when the back holds on to four corners only, whereas these ones are a bit 'uneven' (when viewed in portrait mode) : p
I would perfer something that holds on to the edges of Nexus 7 only, like the Official Case or this:

I just got mine this morning. Connecting is easy. But the keyboard (as I expected) is very small. If you have dainty girl like hands, you will be OK. It will take some getting used too. I've noticed the back stand that props up the monitor is pretty flimsy as well. A very slight wind can knock it over.
The case will most certainly protect the screen if you toss your tablet in a backpack or in your luggage. It's more sturdy than I anticipated in that regard.
Considering the cost is low, it's easy to overlook the minor flaws I've found so far. I'd give it 4 of 5 stars.
Can you post a pic when u have a chance I want to buy one but prefer to see the actual thing than to base it on the stock photos thanks

Would you guys carry your N7 using.....

I was wondering if someone made a carry case with a shoulder strap would you guys use it? I would and I'm looking for one but can't find anything that doesn't look like a girlie pocketbook.
As a man that is engaged to be married to the most amazing woman on earth, I already carry one. It has a strap, it's colorful and pretty and I hate it. But her purse works. Thats would be ok. but i am not sure i would trust that with my stuff. I do like their classic messenger bag but i would really like to see more pics and maybe a hands on before trusting my stuff in a bag company that seems to be going for looks. the 5.11 and maxpedition bags are built like tanks. very strong material build.
The integrated bottle opener is a nice touch though.
I like the bags from Rickshaw. I just haven't been able to justify the cost yet. Would love to grab a Mini Commuter.

adamhlj: if you want to trust your stuff to a cheap bag like that then go ahead. thinking like that means you were ripped off by buying a nexus tablet as opposed to a emedia tablet. If you want to buy the kia of bags then go ahead. I'll stick with the lexus of bags and it will last longer.
besides I bought my bag on overstock sale for $50. I'd rather pay twice as much for something that will last longer then 3 months.

50 bux for a nice bag isn't bad. I have used Oakley sandbags in the past and was good, but I kinda like the 5.11 Pack you posted. I may get one of these. Thanks for the info
i started carrying a man purse (tumi t-tech) since i got my first ipad
the bag fits a 10 inch tablet or a 7 incher with some accessories
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...rh=n:1036592,k:shoulder+bag+tumi+t-tech&ajr=0
it looks something like this one, mine is 3-4 years old at least since i got it when ipad first came out
I got a murse (man purse) to carry my rooted Nook Color about 2 years ago. And it went with me everywhere until I got the N7.
It holds my N7, wallet, keys, phone, over the ear headphones, cleaning cloth, extra charger and cord, etc.
But, OTOH, I am old and get away with it!!!!:laugh:
Oh yeah,,,,made by Eagle Creek.

Whoa seriously there is nothing wrong with UTG (under the gun). They make a lot of crap and a lot of quality stuff at a decent price. they're made to contend with higher priced items and do this well. My job sells like 100+ UTG items. AND I happen to own a 2011 Kia Forte Koup. It is an amazing car! No really... go to Kia and test drive one. Or an Optima. They're amazing cars nowadays. And the money I saved by buying this car goes to things like my tablet and cheaper bags and anything else I want to splurge on.
He was just trying to offer his helpful opinion. With that attitude u might as well skip on android and go with an iPhone.

In this case, you do get what you pay for...
UTG -
Polyester
5.11 -
1050D Nylon
Saying somone was "ripped off" is not helpful...especially when they are mistaken.
Only thing that popped up in my mind.
You men have it so lucky... murse, tactical bags, back pockets... I'm a girl. I can only stick in into one of the bazillion purses, messenger bags or backpacks I own.

I got with android because i am a fan of linux and open source. I also believe i should be able to do what i want with my mini computer. Android phones are not that much cheaper then iphones and no matter what anyone says iphones work really will with other apple products. And actually, i am considering the iphone 5 when it comes out. Since the trend of android is making high end devices huge. I want a high end phone with a 4" screen. I dont need to carry around 2 tablets. Thats nice that you have a kia. Will it be running strong in 10 years? We'll see. I see plenty of honda, toyota, lexus, chevy, fords, and dodges from 02 on the road. not too many Kias though. Sacrificing price for quality is not wise in my decision. And like beestee said there is a structural different between the bags. I also didn't have anymore attitude in what i said then the attitude that adam had when he said i got ripped off.
Now back on topic.

I like that sandbag. i'll have really give it a once over the next time i see one in the stores. I also have the bag listed below. I have seen it for about $75 but i paid $90 for it. That is what i use when the family goes to the zoo or disneyland. I have also used it for a 3 day camp/hike trip. Worked really well. If it was winter or any longer then i would have had to use a bigger bag. Day hikes just get the 5.11 PUSH. Take 5 min and watch the video on the MOAB 10. You'll see a lot of attention to the little details in the construction of this bag.

Checked out the MOAB, awesome awesome bag. I miss being in the USAF with stuff like this lol. Eh whatever...lol A glock in the compartment, nice...forget my tablet lol
I pulled the trigger and got a deal on the Max Jumbo KISS bag. I think it should suffice. I just dropped my N7 on the curb because my 4yr old kicked it off the seat while I was getting her out of the truck. This is what happens when your hands are full folks lol....
I'll post a review of that bag when I get it next week. :good:
I like the KISS. I looked into that because of the zipper pouch on the side. The push pak has two zipper pouches for water. I liked the idea of the full zipper but my hand didn't fit inside that pouch. Couldn't get headphones out of the bottom. But I still like that bag

Do not forget the having to change bags to match what your wearing. I bought the nexus 7 because i got tired of always having to be sure my bag or purse was big enough to fit my a500 in..I love the device but with its size i might as well pack my computer around.. My nexus will fit in even a larger clutch bag.And a smaller purse that works well with a tiny spring strappy or strapless Dress..
You have to look good no matter what....
guys can get away with nearly anything . Get you a pair of cargo shorts with those pockets that go 3/4 the way around the leg put a hard shell case that opens at the top and there ya go.. nice protection and easy to access... pssssss
with the above about the 4 inch phone i so agree .. the sweet spot on a phone size is 4 inches..Anything bigger is to much to hold in my hand . It must Make calls and Tether to my tablet.. What more do you need in a cell phone if you have a 7 inch tablet...
I personally would NOT use a i phone ... it may be very user friendly But we are all individual people..We deserve to have a device we can make our own.And not be locked into what the manufacturer say is BEST FOR US..
Ok all lets go shopping now...

Yep, I don't buy a purse if it can't fit a small notebook, or now, if it won't fit my N7 and a charger. And I change lanyards, purses, paracord accessory, ocassionally shoes, and hat for the day, sometimes during the day if I have to change for events.
And I have a captivate glide, which is about four inches, and a physical keyboard that makes me giddy (except when looking at cases).
All I can say is thank god black goes with 'everything'! -Ara
