[Q] Reason to buy T/TL? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

For those of you who have bought a Sony Xperia T or TL what is the best feature of the phone? What makes it stand out over other phones? I'm currently considering switching from my iPhone 4S to an Android for more storage and the TL looks like an inexpensive option for a mid to high end replacement. I've heard the Walkman app is good and so is the album app but for those of you who use it as a daily driver what stands out to you?

Thread moved. Please post in the correct section of the forum. Questions belong here in Q&A.
Thanks
AvRS

My bad...but now that it's in the right section maybe I'll get some answers.

I just wonder T and Tx what is difference?
I am in usa if I buy tx it is working on tmobile 3g?

Also, a phone that just works and a OEM who actually seems to have an idea what customers want. You want root so unlock the bootloader officially, you want your WiFi to turn off automatically when away from home so you don't chug the juice, you want an excellent camera, good DLNA functionality, Walkman music player, etc? Xperia T ticks the boxes.
I've been a huge fan of Samsung phones for a while but hated the camera performance so made the jump from my Note to the Xperia T. Best decision I ever made!
Also, the Note forum was really whiny and full of challenge and angst. The Xperia guys to date seem really helpful and much more friendly.
If I helped, hit Thanks!

It's market dependant, if you're in the US I think it's the TX there. Here in europe they sell the T, TX is unavailable.
Just ask your seller before but it should be ok.

Also battery drain is very low compared to Xperia S, I can use it for 1 day + with a charge, with the XS I need to charge it twice a day with moderate use !

Got my Xperia TX today!

After being very happy with my Xperia S and Xperia Ion, I was eagerly waiting to get my hands on the TX, so was very happy when it arrived this morning!
It's a beautiful phone - photographs don't really do it justice, and it has a nicer feel in the hands than either the GSIII or the One X. Came with 2 NFC tags, a decent pair of earphones, and the usual factory-installed screen protector.
The screen is beautiful, without the super over-saturated colours that are on the SIII. Camera is also excellent, but have only taken a couple of shots on it so far.
Can't really comment on the battery life yet, although it does drain quickly at the moment - possibly because I haven't yet given it a full charge.
Only problem so far is that Gapps aren't installed on it - unsure as how to work around this so will have to research!
Have attached a couple of pics so you can see for yourselves.
:highfive:
So jealous. This one is without LTE right?
I would miss LTE
I'm not sure to be honest, but it doesn't really matter anyway as LTE isn't available over here anyway.
Forgot to mention - the TX also comes preinstalled with all the Bond wallpapers, themes and ringtones as the T does, so both models have them!
All I remember is difference from TX and T was the LTE lol

congrat to you..
Oh fantastic! I too long to wait for this phone so I ask you to tell me where I can buy it and what price via pay as you go? Thanks!
Er...I'd love to help but I wouldn't have the first clue on how to make a video review, and I'm sure listening to me drone on about the phone would impact Sony's sales so greatly they'd be forced to shutter in a month!
I bought it in China, and paid RMB 3050 - which is about 300 GBP. Unlocked handset.
Been playing with it all day, it has the fastest Internet Browser of any phone I have used yet, and is super, super smooth - I can't wait to see what it will be like when Jelly Bean comes out!
:fingers-crossed:
I thought it was a need to bring from China. Now, I saw more Chinese online shops but I don't understand their language so makes it hard to buy it. The best solution would be to ebay in English but do not have that. Maybe you can help for me?

[Q] one more confused soul..Xperia T or TX

Hello friends,
I own a Xperia Arc S and would like to upgrade. But not shure whether to get Xperia T or TX
Xperia T have good ROM support over here whereas TX doesnt.
According to me TX looks better though.
I know the actualy difference between them but would like to know lil more from users.
So i need your help guys in deciding as it is a big investment and dont want to regret later in future.
I went through many threads but couldnt find my answers.
Any help is appreciated
Thank You
I got the T, and never once missed the removable battery, off not I really like non removable battery, it is a little bit bigger, and hard reboot is done with button combo.
Sent from my Xperia LT30p using XDA Premium app.
Did I help? Then please press the thanks button
The real big selling point of T is it's LTE capability but provided your carrier also supports it. Otherwise just get the TX, it slightly looks better plus battery is removable.
Btw, the TX has the CyanogenMod support now also like the T.
Tapatalked from my TX
yea i was wondering about the hard reboot too..normal we just remove the battery to restart. But always wondered what non-removable battery mobile ppl do..
I have one more doubt. Cant we flash T ROM on TX just like we do in Arc forum. Arc S ROMs can be flashed on Arc with lil patch.
For ICS ROMS that is indeed possible, the patch isn't there (yet) for JB

So TX users haven't enjoyed the taste of sony JB yet?
There is a thread very similar to this already.
If I recall correctly, the only differences were the T has better rom support, LTE capability, and a bigger battery, while the TX has a removable (but less capacity) one.
yes i went through many threads but couldnt find my answer correctly.
Hope TX ROM support really picks up. Bad thing is that launch of xperia Z is around the corner and many ppl will go for that instead of xperia T or TX and this is surely hit TX development.

Battery wise I would say T, since it has a bigger battery.
Design, in my opinion, T
Screen wise, tx does seem a little clearer, but only if you have touch firmware B
Rom support, definitely T

as of now only T and TX are available..
Its really sad how Sony are slow to launch a product in India even when they know India is one of the biggest and important market.

[Q] Returning my Xperia TL, Suggestions on what to get? (AT&T)

I have the Xperia TL lt30at, I LOVE it . Sadly though, it cannot be rooted because bootloader unlock allowed is set to no:crying:. I was given 2 weeks to try this phone out which will be up this friday and I would like to get a phone that can be rooted and is on par or better than the TL. I also have this thing called "trade up" which allows me to trade in my phone for 75% (300$) of its value (400$) credit towards a new phone at any time. So I can trade in for the Z if/when it comes out for AT&T if/when it comes out in the US. What on AT&T market right now for 400$-500$ should I grab? I'm new to Android from iOS and jailbreaking and the TL is my first android and I have loved it. So XDA, please help me out a bit and toss your opinions around. I will give thanks to all who give informative :good: and helpful replies and none to those just being dicks .
Thanks guys.

Samsung SIII? Similar feature-wise, but slightly bigger. Has LTE and is available through At&t, and also apparently has a big dev community for AOSP, but if you purchase from at&t, it may be a special version in which the bootloader has been locked down. I guess you'd have to do some sleuthing in regards to that. You could always just return your TL to at&t and get an unlocked SIII from a third party; that way you'd know that you'd be able to unlock it...
Thanks for the reply

That's the root method to use but you have to install the backup and restore app manually before you do it since at&t removed it from their firmware.
Sent from my Sony Xperia™ Z
If you really want to switch, I'd say go for an HTC One VX/X possibly the white X. The sounds are much better and the phone feels just sexy in your hand! But you will have a mainstream 8MP camera (if you are concerned about it). I will not recommend Pantech as they are relatively new in the high end smartphone business AFAIK. Buying an Ion will actually be kind of a downgrade from the T. LG is not too durable and the Samsung devices that you have mentioned here seem to be a little outdated. AFAIK.
Thanks for the input man. I like the HTC but the screens seem a bit off colored in pictures compared to the bravia screens. What do you think?
I can't find how to install it manually. Any guides you could direct me to? Sorry in advance if it's staring me in the face and I'm blind.

I mainly rooted to remove the bloatware AT&T apps ( but now I use the LT30p firmware so no bloatware from AT&T). Z will not be available through AT&T, would have to get it unlocked instead.

No section for the ZL, so a question here

Does anyone know about the availability of ZL to European market ?
The people I've spoken to really liked ZL over Z ( physical camera button, smaller dimensions, easier port usage ), and I share the same opinion, so it would be such a shame if we Europeans wouldn't be able to get our hands on the ZL

To buy or not to buy...

Greetings, folks!!!
I am quite of doubtful if i were to buy a Xperia Z, or i should stick to Samsung(S4 or Note II), because of it's easyness or not to flash custom ROMs or kernels...
I am aware of the bootloader of Xperias, but the offer is good enough to not let it go (the same for the S4 and Note II)...
Any special advice i should consider before i purchase the phone?
Thanks in advance
Sent from Quo'nos via subspace transmission
Hi mate,
If you really care about the bootloader and enjoy flashing roms or kernals just don't choose any Sony Xperia. In my perspective, Sony's products represent the highly innovative trend in terms of design and functions. The reason i chose Xperia Z is that i admire its appearance a lot and dislike Samsung‘s plastic texture. My answer may not answer your post but i just want to say that the choice depends on your taste and fun on the phones.
Don't, go for the galaxy, much better.

I guess it's all a preference, Galaxy S4 is newer than the XZ so it's got the advantage in terms of hardware, although it is more expensive for that reason. They are both great phones, I don't think you will be disappointed with neither of them unless you are really picky, if you can try to hold both in your hand to try them and pick the one you feel you will like more.

The only real advantage that S4 has over XZ is a battery life ,thanks to amoled display (which is also a downsize if you use the phone outside a lot).
Everything else is matter of personal choice. But as they say , changes are good in life , so why not

I've played with both the ZL (=Z I would say) and the S4 quite a bit. They're both great phones but I can at least say why I elected not to get either. I was actually 90% sold on the Z before getting the One. My big phone obsession is the screen, and that kind of makes sense given that the screen is 50% of the phone. I have been in the past and continue to be spoiled by apple's excellent screens so that's the standard I set. I love everything about the Z but the screen was a huge disappointment for me. The colors are washed out and the viewing angles are horrendous. Yeah, I know, nobody needs to view their phone horizontally, but the angles are so bad that even tilting it slightly wrecks the image to my eyes. The only time it improves is when you play a video, but the viewing angles still suck (bad for sharing a video with friends) and bravia engine is only active with video playback. The only other issue I had was the permanently locked bootloader (maybe that was just me though).
As for the s4, I really don't have any positive opinions on it. It just feels like a toy in your hand (if you can grasp the slippery damn thing ) and all the software "features" included are more or less gimmicks no one will care about in a few months. And touch wiz is, as always, a compete train wreck.
Regarding a choice between the two, I'd take the Z in a heartbeat. The only way the S4 is better (to me) is the screen because it has much better color and contrast than the Z. Few members of the public would criticize the screen the way they do with the Z. Though the s screens still have a long way to go to approach ips lcds and it's pretty dim. Even the battery life and cpu practical use is better in the Z because the 1.9gHz processor is almost constantly throttled lower because it hearts up so quickly, which also drains that big battery damn quick (and for some reason GSam reported the "efficient" display as consuming 70% of the power even when dimmed... I don't even know...
There's also something to be said about design, which one is stunning and the other is old news.
My thoughts

I would go for the Z without a second thought since I can't stand TouchWiz. Regarding Android 4.2.2: The Xperia Z PAC ROM based on 4.2.2 runs great and offer productive features, not all those gimmicks that are provided by TW.
The only S 4 version that I would recommend is the Google Edition since it runs vanilla Android. The selection between that one and the Z is a matter of preferences and taste.
