HTC Desire C Information - HTC Desire C

In this thread there will be mods which are confirmed to work and/or to increase the device performance I will list the following things:
Current Roms which are in development
System Kernels
Custom Recoveries
Custom Scripts
Preformance tweaks

Firstly before any of these Roms, modifications you will need a rooted device. This means that you will need to unlock the bootloader via HTC-DEV.com I will explain how to do this on post number two.
Before you do any of this I am not responsible for any damages, data loss or anything of that nature by doing these mods, if you choose to do them you are at your own risk, if you follow the steps properly you should be fine
Okay now the word of warning is out of the way lets get started...
Roms
The current roms which are practically finished, and are adding little tweaks every release are considered the most stable at the moment and this roms are...
The Nameless Rom by einstein.frat is based on the stock rom or RUU if you like, but with added speed and features such as 3D rosie:
NAMELESS ROM THREAD
The second Rom is also based one the standard sense rom, just with many less applications and with being de-odexed, and is built by mmmcfc:
SLIM SENSE
The Explos!on rom, this rom is based on the nameless rom however, it has the ported Desire V sense which is still very fast and smooth. It has sense 4.1 and has the 3D home screen, this rom is built by SeannyM.
Explos!on Rom
In this next section there will be work in progress roms, but bear in mind that these roms are not intended for daily use, as of yet, so be warned!
Unofficial CyanogenMod 9 for HTC Desire C, this rom is built by the developer Munjeni, most features are working such as phoning sms but WIFI and some other connectivity and sound hardware don't appear to work properly:
Unofficial Cyanogenmod 9
Kernels
This section will explain how to flash a kernel and which ones to use, you have to be aware that certain kernels will not allow WIFI or other features to work as it has to be hard-coded into the system. Firstly Before you install any Kernels you need to know how to install them properly so the things you will need are:
HTC Sync Manger
HTC Drivers for fastboot
Android sdk
However most of the kernels are provided in the rom threads, but I will list the ones that have separate threads:
Zerogolf Htc desire kernel, this kernel works with the nameless rom, and the stock rom depending on what version you select there are three which are listed for different roms these include:
ZeroGolf_Kernel_v1-ga149866_EasyFastboot, this can be used with the slim sense rom.
ZeroGolf_Kernel_v1-g8594b3f_EasyFastboot, this is the latest vodafone UK Kernel
ZeroGolf_Kernel_v1-g0be4e84_EasyFastboot, this Kernel is the stock vodafone Kernel with overclocking.
Zerogolf Kernel
Custom Recoveries
Currently there are two custom recoveries, which are available for our HTC Desire C and these are:
Clock Work Mod recovery Touch edition, this recovery Is built by developer Munjeni and it includes all the thing you need to install custom roms , backup and resore etc...
Clock Work Mod Touch
The Second recovery is also based on Clock Work mod, however this one isn't touch and has a few bugs. But if you wish to install this one over the touch one, then it's your Choice. This recovery is built by mmmcfc, however I highly recommend you to install the touch based recovery, due to some bugs!
Clock Work Mod Recovery NON Touch
These are current Kernels, recoveries and roms Available for the HTC Desire C. PM me if you find a new Kernel, recovery or rom which you would like me to add but I should be quite up-to date.
Custom Scripts
I need sleep I'll update this thread with new information after college tomorrow.

Changing from stock to custom?

Hi, I am new to this Sensation XL XDA forum.
i have had SXL for about 3month or maybe more, and still haven't done any tweaks(root, custom rom, etc)
And the things i want to know is
is it good to change from stock rom to custom rom? is it faster and battery can last longer?
which custom rom is the most stable one?
and can i still update to official HTC ICS update(when it comes) after i install custom rom?
and what is the difference between sense 3.5 and 3.6?
Thanks
Custom ROMs are aftermarket ROMs created by developers that are tweaked or enhanced by the developer or are ported over from another device. These custom ROMs can sometimes offer tweaks to UI, speed, battery life enhancements and mods/tweaks to enhance user experience.
The difference between sense 3.5 and sense 3.6 is that sense 3.6 is based on android 4.0 but the design apart from the dock at the bottom is mainly based on the UI of sense 3.5.
To recieve the official ICS update you will have to (to the best of my knowledge) re-lock the bootloader and flash a stock HTC ruu or rom to recieve the update.
As for the most stable ROM i would have to say any of the BinDroid/CoreDroid ROMs Runny-Bliss by Alex-V or for Android 4.0/ICS Zombi.eSandwich

Thanks for your replied
But is it better to change stock rom to the custom ones you mentioned?
and do you use custom rom?
The ROMs I mentioned are from my personal experience. And yes I.do use a custom ROM I am currently using the Three musketeers sense 4 ROM I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner as.it is a beta and has a.few.bugs
Sent from my Sensation XL with Beats Audio
Please move to q&a section. Custom option is for users who want that bit extra from their device which they cannot get with a stock rom. There are many restriction within stock roms which limit your user experience. With custom roms and kernels you get to use your device they way you want to and can also manipulate it to your personal taste. Many of the roms in here are stable enough and a few like miui and sense 4 are WIP. Once you are up to speed you can give those a try and post your findings

Custom ROM
If this is your first dabbling into custom roms i would strongly suggest as stable rom as possible. If you are mainly looking for increased speed and longer battery i would recommend an older gingerbread rom. Since gingerbread is older, devs have had a lot more time to perfect roms based on gingerbread.

[Q] Which is best ROM?

Guys, just need small help, even though i am going through the threads and forums but will appreciate if someone can suggest me that which is best recovery, kernel and ROM for HTC Desire C. What i have come to know till now is that Revolution Sense 3.1 is better. Need suggestions please?
There is no "best" rom...
You looking for speed? Revolution super stripped
You looking for fluid transitions and a whole new look and feel? Xperialised sense
Looking for full featured, near aosp? Revolutionmod
I wouldn't use any other kernel than Prometheus, try to find a boot img that your device can handle....
And for a recovery you ought to go with twrp
Hit thanks I'd this helped
Sent from my HTC Desire C
i prefer the revolution rom's out of all i have tried so far (currently running the revolutionmod ver 5) but the creator of that and a few others on here including myself are working all available free time to get a fully stable Cyanogen rom for the device
once cm is ported and operational keep your eyes peeled for the BlisteringNinjah roms i will be attempting to create XD xOxOxOx
Best Rom
Depends what kind of style you want. ive currently got M!U! which is a port of MIUI and so far its looking good but there others you can look at just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1989 and look for threads with "ROM"

[Q] The most stable rom for new user

Hello
My sister will take over my rooted IncS and would like to know what ROM you think is the most stable? The only requirement i have is at least android 4.0.
Hope u could give me some good advices, i dont have the time to test or read about every rom..
thx
Android Revolution HD, if you are ok with Sense interface. It will be fast and stable.
It doesn't have much custom features which can be found in the other ROMs, but it is a good ROM to start from.
What is important is that this ROM isn't abandoned by its developer, and it keeps being updated.

Almost every Sense ROM. The SENSE ROMs under the OP of the ROM index (in android development section) are all stable enough to be daily drivers

I agree with you: Sense ROMs, especially based on 4.0, are mostly more stable than based on bare Android. However, ARHD was the one where I haven't encountered any blockers (e.g. like a bug with keyboard in numeric input fields in Blackout ROM, though the ROM itself is still lovely).
Thanks for your replies! I think i go for ARHD

[Q] STOCK VS custom ROM for D3 XT862

HELLO ...i am new to the Android world but an expert in the windows world...... i do also love linux
i have a Droid 3 XT862 running Android 2.3 and i want to experience the freedom of rooting my D3
i had hoped my first Android phone would be high spec running the latest OS (or almost) but i am not ready to risk using a touch-screen only phone because i hav had some bad experiences with touchscreen keyboards....thats pretty much why i got the D3 instead of the RAZR or the DROID BIONIC
QUES #1:
how difficult is it to revert back to my original Android 2.3 OS if i find it difficult to use a custom ROMS?? i really want to use my camera so a chance to revert bak to my original V2.3 wud be nice
QUES #2:
is the phones ability to install apps affected in any way by upgrading the Android version ( FOTA) or rooting?? for example..... i am going to test run my V2.3 os for a while and install many apps, will these same apps be able to install on the custom ROMS?? ...... wat are some of the advantages or disadvantages for installing apps on stock V2.3 and then try to install the same apps on any of the below custom roms:
OFFICIAL CyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2.2): [NIGHTLIES]
[ROM][JB] [4.2.2] Avatar ROM for Motorola Droid 3 (solana)
[ROM][4.2.2][OFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v2.1 - solana -
[ROM] Official PACman Droid 3
[ICS AOSP ROM] "AOKP" (Android Open KANG Project)
[ROM STEEL DROID]
[Closed]RemICS-UX v1.3.1 - Galaxy S3 on Your Droid 3
.....ETC
QUES#3 :
BBM Messenger will be available for phones running Android 4.0 or higher this summer, I am interested in trying it out and i want to know if these custom ROMS will allow me to install it without much difficulty......
QUES#4:
I am assuming that once i root my phone and install a custom ROM using safe strap or a similar tool, this is the same as dual booting, in which i can switch between stock os and custom ROMS at will.......am i right ??
QUES #5:
How may Custom ROMS am i able to install while making sure my phone is stable ??
THANKS MUCH !!!!!.....

Reverting to stock is as simple as plugging the phone into your computer and flashing stock firmware with a utility. Custom roms and rooting shouldn't affect app installation, with the caveat of some video rental apps won't work on rooted devices(piracy prevention). BBM should install on any custom rom ics and up, but until it's released we won't know for sure. All that being said, sometimes a particular app may have issues with custom roms but it's the exception, not the rule. Yes you can switch roms similar to a dual boot, although data from one rom isn't visible to another, like app data, text messages, call log. Sdcard contents are though. Safestrap creates img files for custom rom slots, you can have up to 4(in addition to stock) I believe, although I no longer use safestrap so I'm not totally sure. The more you have the less Sdcard space available and the custom roms can be pretty buggy sometimes. Personally I just flash over the stock rom since its so easy to return to stock if needed. I also only run gb roms since I need the camera

Best answer I can give: It depends.
Other than that, it's not allowed to start some discussions like best/worst ROM, cause usually they are made for different needs.
Get an oversight of some ROMs (not all available for the i9305).
I can tell you my experience and OmniROM was a rock solid ROM for me with Android 4.4.4, not that feature rich. But you can add features with Xposed framework up to KitKat. On Lollipop you cannot use Xposed yet. Also, the Lollipop ROMs are not stable yet imo. Nevertheless I use the Nameless ROM 2.0, which is working not bad, having some battery issues, but no other probs. However, it's not a reliable daily driver yet, therefore it's beta.

Honestly, for me needs Omni ROM was fast and smooth enough for me. I did not use a custom kernel. You can boost some transitions within the launcher app (depends on the app, Apex, Nova Go Launcher Ex should do) or in the developer options (window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale), disable animations or you can lower the speed, what usually leads to a more fluid experience.
With kernel settings apps like Trickster Mod, Kernel Tuner or Kernel Tweaker you can improve your experience with the standard kernel even more - without overclocking. Check their Q&A or FAQ, helped me. You need root access to your device to change kernel settings. Flash SuperSU if not done already.
Hello, I have been trying to flash for 2 days now but still couldn't get it working.
Initially, my I9305 is running on stock without root. I wanted to root it and then install recovery and ROM.
And so I prepare the necessary files, and start to flash.
I used CF-Auto-Root to root my device first, then got Resurrection ROM and Gapps to flash.
Then I started to get some issue, as it always fail. Error message like no file context and so on. So I read online resources, and found out that I had a older version of TWRP installed which may cause the install.
I then tried to upgrade TWRP but it doesn't allow me to. No choice, I had to flash philz touch, and I did.
I then tried to flash Resurrection again, boot up, and it keep giving me bootloop. After which I downloaded nameless ROM, and CM11 but same issue.
Yesterday night, I downloaded the stock firmware to try. I flashed it, and it is successful based on ODIN, but it still won't boot up.
I just tried it again and it stuck on the Samsung logo screen.
Can anyone tell me what else to do? What I have to do?
This is the stock firmware that I have downloaded and flash - I9305XXUENH1_I9305EVRENH1_EVR.
Let me know what other information I have to provide.
Thanks!
Good work thanks
Volume increase
Hi guys,
I am trying to increase the volume on my phone and spent already hours on the Internet to find out how to do it. I have rooted my phone using CM auto root, installed superSU and ES File Explorer. I was trying to follow instructions to go to system files using this program and edit Snd_Soc_mSm or sound folder but it just doesnt appear on my phone? I was wondering if there is something I can do about or maybe I missed something, I really have no clue.
My phone parameters:
Samsung S3 i9305
Android 4.3
Baseband I9305XUENG1
Kernel 3.0.31-2051278
Build JSS15J.I9305XXUENH1
I would be really gratefull for any help or instructions.
Thanks
@LeoDeos did you check the fb issue?
Japanese S3
Any good news about Japanese variant of S3?
I try to compile but have error at the very beginning.
dear xda members.
I'm moving (as probably many already had) from i9000 to i9305 looking for decent audio experience.
To achieve that I need to find a perfect match between recovery, rom and kernel.
I've gone through the linked index topic as well as tens of other customization-related ones, but still have some basic questions.
Generally it's about the proper Boeffla sound-oriented kernel selection.
I've noted only one or few compilations of Boeffla kernel for i9305 so I give it up on the beginning.
Seems that AGNi is the only resort. But here come the doubts.
how to properly match the kernels from AGNi pureCM and PUREstock list base on information available in MAjor Custom Rom comparison database
If custom ROM is based on AOSP (as the stock rom is - see the table, row 7), does this mean I should go for PUREstock kernel? For example for OMNIrom 4.4.4 should I select pureSTOCK v5.9.3? If my understanding is correct for PACman rom (based on CM) I should go for pureCM kernel.
OR
pureSTOCK kernels are reserved for Samsung roms, and the custom ones should be paired with pureCM kernels?

Now I'm using Bliss Pop some weeks ago. This is a great ROM, but one problem is the USB charging. If i use the radio in my car to charge the phone, its just slow down the discharge. So no up charging.
If I flash the agni kernel, to let me charging rates changeable, the phone is randomly freeze, or not wake up and screen is leave blank.
But this rom is the best for me, just this charging problems make me nervous.

Great to hear that you're happy with Bliss Pop. I personally found the right ROM for me and my device, too.
I'm also extremely happy with AGNi v4.5.5, especially as AGNi offers so many and easy to handle settings' possibilities and such a large variety of governors. In the past, I also experienced a few situations with random freezes, black screens etc.
I solved these issues in two ways:
First by playing with different governors, governor and GPU settings, touchboost, touch wake etc. etc. It took me quite a while till I found my current combination of settings, with which my devices now perfectly runs.
It's a pity but I eventually realise that I'd to de-install Xposed and the one and only Xposed module I ran, XPrivacy.
Since I did both above, my SGS3LTE is running so smoothly and really without any problems.
Did you already played a bit with other kernel settings than charging rates?
