Gap between bezel and side of phone - Nexus 4 General

I just received my nexus 4 yesterday and immediately noticed that there was a gap between the bezel and side of the phone. This gap is only on the left side of the phone and is directly below the volume rocker. This phone came like this right out of the box.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Mines fine. Get a bumper and you won't notice either.

Not me... But if it bugs you, you can request for a replacement.

So you are suggesting that I get a $20 accessory to cover up an issue that shouldn't have been there in the first place...
You will probably tell me i'm holding it wrong next.

Lol to the last sentence. I was not being rude.
My nexus plastic squeak when pressures on the bottom & randomly screen turns on for no reason.
Even with those issue I rather have it still than replace it. ATM since there's huge demand.

My N4 doesn't have this issue.
Get an RMA.

I would defiantly get a replacement... looks like someone dropped it!
You can ask Google to let you keep the device until a replacement arrives.

My fault... I wasn't trying to be rude either, even though I was.
I'm just a bit dumbfounded by everyone's reaction to devices having issues right out of the box. It is sad when a device is so in demand that customers become accustom to issues.
I hope that Google can resolve this issue quickly.

I think I read somewhere that they have available Nexus 4's set aside specifically for RMA. A plus is you can keep your phone till you get the new one.

I just called Google and they're issuing me a replacement. The only downside is there's going to be a Nexus 4 hold charge on my credit card.
That aside the procedure is they're going to sent me a device and I'll suppose to return my device when i received it.
Lol, people can easily abuse the RMA by RMA a issue-free Nexus 4 device and selling it/get another.

Great when trying to process my RMA I get an error

That isn't an option. If you look at the pictures I posted, the plastic next to the volume rocker is actually pushed out about 1mm. If it was still sitting flush with the bezel then I would probably could have just pushed it in.

I wonder what would happen if I kept this RMA phone lol. 299$ no shipping hmm not bad deal.

Old defect nexus 4 gets remotely deactivated when you start using new phone. It is specially mentioned on Google support website that Google may deactivate defective/stolen phones remotely.
But this can't be true until someone take a risk of 350 bucks and blacklist their own Google account. Mind you Google orders are with Google account, if we don't follow their rules we maybe forced to give them up.

O **** i see it in the picture. Return it!!!! I gotta go check my nexus for the gap right now!

Nexus 7 Bezel dented out of box :(

Just got my Google Play order today, everything is fine, box, packaging, etc.
But I ran my fingers down the left side of the Nexus 7 and left a bump.
I tilt the Nexus 7 to get a better look and there's a dent
No bezel "glue/sticky noise" issue, just a dent
Guess I'll call Google tomorrow, we'll see how "if you buy from Play Store, you get support from Google and not Asus" works and how good it is.
Anyone know what phone number to call for Nexus 7 issues? Sorta having a hard time finding support.
Ouch...that sucks. Definitely get a new one.
Can you please check in at the sticky thread in the Q&A section if you haven't already. Thanks.

I have to call tomorrow too. I was sent a Nexus 7 with a crack in the screen. I'm expecting google to tell me they will send a shipping label, and upon arrival of my defective Nexus 7, they will ship a new one out. I'm guessing this process will take 3 to 4 weeks.
But, I'm hoping they say "We will ship a new unit immediately. Upon arrival of the new unit, please return your defective Nexus 7."
Just got off the phone with Google Support, 1-855-83-NEXUS, was on hold for 55 minutes before I talked to someone.
The guy had to escalate my issue because it's a physical damage of the device, and I should get a reply back within 48hours, the guy only asked my email and that was it.
He seemed very rushed.

I've got an issue but I'm gonna wait til Friday to call.hopefully all the shipping issues will have been resolved.. I'm sure that's the bulk of the calls they're getting
I have the same issue, but mine doesnt seem to be as bad as yours, mines not really visible unless you look at it from the back, it doesnt annoy me that much though seeing as its working perfectly. How did your complaint go through?
Does anyone know if the bezel is an seperate part from the glass? or are they together? I was wondering if you can just replace the bezel.

You can pop the back off, loosen the screw that is next to the spot where it's sticking out, push the bezel in towards the glass, hold it in place and tighten the screw.
My first unit had a bump like that, maybe not quite as bad.
The problem seemed to go away by itself after using it for a while.
I guess I must have straightened it out while holding it.
I still had to return the unit because it had the screen raise issue, though

I've been using the same case as you since December, and have indeed dropped the phone quite a few times. Fortunately, my screen survived. You got really unlucky there.

LCD cracking is pure luck. It all depends on which part took the impact. Your phone will most likely survive if it falls flat on a flat surface. If the corner hits, it'll most likely break.
I have seen phones survive 6ft drop and also seen broken phones from a 1ft drop.

First open it up and disconnect-reconect the digitizer plug from the main board. Maybe it just moved a little after the crash.
But yeah, even if it works you still have cracked screen so you will still have to fix it anytime soon.

Those plastic slim cases will not protect your phone, at all. At most, they provide a grip to your phone and prevent scratches from everyday usage.
I would advise on getting a TPU case in the future.

I broke mine like that, sent it to LG repair shop in Texas (have to contact them and get a return code first) and they ended up just giving me a replacement unit. Was nice cuz I ended up with a more solid phone, has the little nubs and all (it's a rev 10 though). Pretty much like getting a brand new phone and I was only charged like $160. Just make sure to back up your pics and stuff to your PC prior to sending it in, in case you get a new phone. I was quite happy.

The speaker issues

Just to let you know it does seem to be device specific and some type of manufacture defect.
I took my phone in to the store where I got it here in the UK (Carphonewarehouse) and they too thought it was very low. They brought out another Nexus 5 and the sounds was A LOT louder.
They swapped it out then and there!
I now have a brand new Nexus 5 with great sound

Wow, crazy. I guess it was because there was a lot of RMA's. I was lucky I guess. I am able to continue using my device until my RMA device gets here in a week or so. And I was told I can deny it if it's no better. Anyway, maybe it's worth a call to see if you're eligible to do the same. Good luck.

ouch my nexus7 it slid off my bed apparently. I didnt see how it fell, it was in a case but it didnt save it. I heard the thud, turned and feared the worse. it goes across the screen so its rather large.
its the 2012 32 gb version. Is it fixable??? most of the screen doesnt work, i can touch the notification area and it responds, but no where else, so it is basically inoperable. I google some stuff about replacing the digitizer or the screen? or both? how would i know what I need?
on another note, its the 2012 version and i could probably use an upgrade on the 2014 or whatever the new one is. But i definitely would like to repair this and get a new one. I hate having to let go of stuff like this and would like to repair it.
Check out on ebay you have to change the glass, digitizer and lcd (too risky to change the glass+digitizer) its fairly easy. You can check outr some teardown on google too and youtube. Good luck

hmm thats a nice idea, i might find something like that locally here. well I ended up going on craigslist and looking at local ads of nexus 7, and I saw someone selling a nexus 7 16gb for $100. I emailed and asked if it was still available and how firm they were. They replied saying they can let it go for 80 if I come right now. I just returned about an hour ago with a 16gb nexus 7. I am currently in the process of rooting with a rom as my 32gb was. I still wanna fix my 32gb so I will try this idea or something similar.

How is it fraud, I asked currys if they needed to see the tablet and they no because it was less than a year old they didn't ask if it had a broken screen and I've still got the insurance so there getting there money back anyway so think before accusing people of fraud
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Its fraud because it was suggested above that insurance gets placed on the device AFTER there has been damage to the device. It was suggested that the insurance company wouldn't verify the condition...it's exactly what it sounds like...fraud.

man... to be honest... I completely understand your felling and frustration... even a small imperfection like this can make me crazy too. In my case I always inspect the screen looking for dead pixels (I usually install dead pixels app from the store)... and I have returned many phones because of this. It looks like assembly problem. It appears that your speakers grill sits on top of foam gasket (this would be a reason why it springs back).

Thanks guys. Glad to know it's not on all of them. I don't mind waiting a few days for a replacement. I'm on the phone with them now. But ya, I also hate that I have call if I bought online. And if I buy at a store, it has to be the same type store, meaning if I bought at a corporate store, I have to go another corporate store.
UPDATE: Ok they had to reorder me a new phone (black). It wasn't out of stock so they are going to ship it to me overnight at no charge and will get it on Wednesday. As usual, they are charging me for the new one and will refund the charges on the 1st phone when they receive it back.

As usual, they are charging me up front and will remove the charges when they receive the defective on back.

Beautiful. So you get a second phone before I even get my first? Sounds good.
They need to make orders upgradeable mid shipment.

I guess I got lucky the 2nd time around.
Not quite sure how UPS works but with FedEx ground it cannot be changed either once it ships. If it was express then they can switch between next day, 2nd and 3 days.

Got my replacement today and I'm happy to report that it doesn't have the same issue. And is perfectly flushed against the glass.
