Jot Stylus - Nexus 7 Accessories

Does anyone have any experience using any of the Jot stylus'?
It is suppose to be the most accurate stylus on the market. Unfortunately I have only seen them sold in stores at Staples.
I currently have a Griffin stylus which works just fine, but I'm always looking for something more accurate.

I tried one in a store on my nexus 7, the tip is nicer than in the picture so I don't think that it will scratch like some complaints have said. Having said that, it does take a bit of pressure to register, and it makes an annoying clicking sound when you press it against the screen.

There's a sizable thread about it from the Tf101 forum here. The OP thinks (thought?) they're amazing and at least for a little while, someone from Jot posted there, answering questions and responding to issues.

I have tried many.. This one is the best of them all . but far from perfect. The jot touch Does not work with android. Boohoo. I so miss the note 10.1 tablet.
I have the Jot pro. The disk are delicate and does not work on most of the premium screen protectors. It will stick to them and not slide almost sticks solid to the screen. Get a 3.00 plastic type protector and you will do well with it.Just do not loose it as i did . My second one will be here Friday. Tomorrow .
I wish there was something that worked as well as my wacom intuios 4 .. I so love that thing...

What do you mean it doesn't work on android? It is the same as any other capacitive touch screen stylus other than that the tip is clear. It's still conducting electrons from your finger to the screen so it should work on any capacitve touchscreen device.
Edit: Oh whoops, I just realized you were talking about the Jot Touch. I thought you were talking about the Jot Pro. My bad.

I have tried them and sadly they are not that great. You easily scratch your screen and the pivot can be awkward sometimes, feeling unnatural.

It does work.. Just not correctly.. the far right of the tablet surface stops about half way across the Nexus screen in sketch pad pro.. In quill it works in portrait mode There is no way to try and set anything up . I have not tried pressure settings on quill .. I will do so now maybe ...
Just tested again since 4.2 Same issue as above But with lecture note it will now detect buttons and pressure. Someone could write a driver to make it work I am very sure now.. I would pay 150.00 for a stylus to work. Maybe even up to 200.00..

Sorry for double post .. not sure why that happened..
but can you try this.. I never did it get it work with the a500. but i tried it on honeycomb. There was NO SUPPORT at all for the intuos.. Lecture note and a app called markers works.. But only in portrait mode.Even with Touch sensitive and Eraser on lecture note. .
The jot i was refering to was the jot TOUCH . it has pressure sensitive but does not work with android. the company keeps saying coming soon and keeps pushing back further and further . same with the jaja x3

I'm going to pick one up later today and compare it to the cheap stylus I picked up at Futureshop.

Actually we don't say 'coming soon', we've always said there's no firm date for the release of our Android SDK and we can't provide a timeline for completion.

Mini retractable stylus

I bought a mini stylus from dealextreme its a nice one with a plastic small tip.. To my surprise it doesn't work.. Kind of sucks as it was advertise for iphones/cellphones I tried it on my brothers iphone n it still doesn't work. My GF suggests I change the sensitivity to my touch screen.. Only thing I know remotely close to that is the screen calibration which to my knowledge doesn't really change squat..

You need a stylus specifically designed for capacitive touchscreens. They usually have the fat rubber tip. Look for ones that say the work with the iPhone and iPad. They will work on our Streak too.
I placed another order for a different stylus.
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/stainl...-pen-w-anti-dust-plug-for-iphone-silver-93604
Hopefully this one will work. The one I had purchased has a customer review n a vid of the person using it on an android device looks like a galaxy not sure why its not working on my streak my only theory is that the pointer size is too small for the capacitive streak screen to recognize

There are some android devices out there with resistive touch screens. It may have been a vid with someone using one of those.

take a look at this customers video hes using the stylus on an android device.. N the title DX says for resistive touch screen.. So the streak isn't resistive?

Hmm so guess I just lost $2 n 3 weeks of waiting for something useless to me now =(
Gonna write a complaint to DX telling them to better clearify their ads.. But in the end I guess I'm at fault for not reading carefully. I saw the vid and thought if it worked on another droid device it was bound to work for the streak...did I ever think wrong...
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
The streak's a capacitive touchscreen like all modern touchscreens.
There might be a resistive screen here and there, but it shouldnt be in all the the lowest end/older/special purpose devices, basically you'd know it was resistive if it was the case.
Resistive ones are just inert rods as resistive screens only require pressure from any correctly shaped object to work.
How old was the device in his vid thing? Android 1.0-2.1 era devices were available as resistive panels but it's pretty rare to find anything recent that's still resistive (unless it's a special purpose device like mentioned earlier)
The smallest capacitive compatable pen requires a head that's at least the size of an eraser, screens in general arnt really ment to be sensitive enough to support anything smaller.
Yeah thanks prior to this forum even prior to owning a streak I was dumbfounded on how much advanced android devices are. Coming from a blackberry this device opened up new doors for me. Anyways I emailed DX customer support n complained it wasn't working so now apparently they mistook it for me wanting a replacement n now I'm about to get another resistive stylus for free... If anyone wants one and is in Toronto pm me. Works great with any DS

I have a really nice little stylus ( not as nice as the SS one shown) from Boxwave & I attached a small extendable key/card holde to it and just have to attache the clip (of bothe pen & holder) to my pocket, and not have to take up the headset plug's space. I can still use the stylus & listen to my tunes @ same time.

Galaxy ACE stylus pen?

That's it, I would like to know if anyone has try a stylus pen on ACE. I'm a drawer and painter and I would love to use the Sketchbook app with a pen but I don't know if that would be possible. I tried with a DIY one, that one was for iphone, and didn't work, so what do you think?
Make one with a finger touch ;-)
Sga having a capacitive touch screen only soft fingers touches respond...
[practice random acts of kindness and selfless acts of love]
Lol, thanx! I've been using that app with my finger. The thing is that I saw on ebay, amazon and so, stylus pens for galaxy ACE, but I don't know if it's scam or they truly work
I tried a 10€ capacitive stylus from a retail shop. I don't think you will find it very useful for painting, as it is has a 6mm diameter, but it does work and it will keep your screen clean of fingerprints. I had some trouble swiping, because the rubber tip feels a bit sticky, leading to false taps. Also, mine didn't last very long: after a month or so the rubber tip became too sticky. I know there are styli with cloth tips but I have yet to find one.
I've found several today on an hawker, one of these stylus work well for write or play but I think isn't suitable to draw..
well, if a stylus works on the galaxy note, i dont really see any reason why it shouldnt work on the ace. After all, one capacitive screen works the same way as the other, only the backlight differs(led, etc)

Interesting!
I bought one from Dealextreme and you really have to push it against the screen to work. Otherwise it will leave a dotted line. It's similar to the other Chinese ones posted here.
I have an awesome idea use an ear bud and put some extra cotton on if an make it a little wet with water and Viola your home made stylus I'd ready.

He he..superb idea bro
I use my thumb as natural stylus
This suits for tab n note i think
the stylus's on ebay work just fine, but as someone else said, the tip is fairly large so for drawing dont expect much.
depends what drawing software you are using as well, if its one that supports pinch and zoom then you will get reasonable results, but again, never going to produce superb results.
But the ebay ones are about $2 so its not really money wasted. You can still use it for typing, playing games etc.

Good stylus/Pressure sensitive stylus?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a good Stylus for the 7? Or even better, a pressure sensitive stylus for the 7?
I remember reading a while back that several companies were looking to produce pressure sensitive styli to use with capacitive touch screens. But I haven't seen anything in a while.
Any good suggestions?
I have a Cosmonaut stylus from Studio Neat. I use it on the iPad and it works great, but it didn't work so well on my Touchpad. Project Butter will probably make that better though.
Just picked this up. http://www.amazon.com/elago-Stylus-iPhone-Replaceable-included/dp/B0052WESJ0/

Any update on the performance?

I haven't seen a stylus with more fine point, more pen-like pointer tip. The head of these stylus are big which is difficult to make fine edge drawing. Anyone see anything better?

Theres the Adonit Jot Pro. There is also the Just Mobile AluPen Pro and the Cregle iPen digitizer. According to the Verge Review, the Cregle iPen digitizer was not good.

Adonit Jot Pro. Users comments,
"one problem i have with it, is that after about 4 weeks of moderated and not very hardcore use, it tend to lose its sensitivity, and i have to scratch the plastic disc a bit, to make the connection work. and even now i have to press hard on the iPad, which is very unpleasant, considering how fragile you think the device is.

to fix the loose & sensitivity issue with the jot pro, fold a piece of tin foil twice to form 4 layers, and snap the tip into the disk with the aluminium foil in between. It will cut perfectly and temporarily fix the issue. Rinse & Repeat

Here is a pretty good review, covering a wide ranges of stylus available on the market.

They review for the iPad but I believe those should work well with the Nexus 7 as they’re all used for capacitive screens.

Sorry guys, was testing on my G2 but wanted to wait until I received my tablet before I gave a few impressions.
As I said, it feels great in the hand, almost exactly like a slightly oversized pencil. Sensitivity was sketchy on my G2 with a screen protector, but it is perfect on my bare Nexus 7. If anyone is interested I will be trying out the "Markers" app tomorrow, as well as putting the screen protector on.

Galaxy Note 2 SPen with Eraser is Junk?

I ordered two full size SPens from Samsung (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ET-S200EBEGSTA) - both seem to be defective. Taps/clicks only register about half the time, and pen contact on swiping motions fades in and out. I carefully adjusted the potentiometers as per instructions found on this forum, setting the sensitivity as high as it would go without starting to cause phantom contact, but it barely helped if at all.
I tried all of this with and without screen protectors. Same results.
Anybody else order one of these? Did it work right?

mine works perfectly fine here, stock rom.
I have one as well. I have used it on the stock ROM as well CleanROM 2.0, and haven't had any issues. Your regular S pen is working fine?
Today was my first full day of work with mine, and I took notes all day. I noticed the pen w/ eraser did not register all of the time on the edge of the note, while the stock pen did. No problems in the center of the note, just the edges.
Mine worked fine. I enjoyed it for it size witch made it much easier for me to hold it and use it (I have large hands).
unfortunately, I lost it.....
I use my wacom stylus from my 2007 era Toshiba Tablet PC, it has an eraser on the end and works perfectly with all the normal S-pen functions and the eraser works!

Yes, the stock pen works great. Also, like speygeek said, the problem is definitely worse on the edges of the screen than the center.

I actually notice a difference on my S Pen w/ Eraser as well. The pen that comes with the Note 2 is noticeably better for tapping/pressing motion.
However when drawing or writing the S Pen w/ Eraser works perfectly fine.

So, I got a chance to try the pens with another Note 2. Worked fine. It appears it is my phone at fault. I found a couple other threads with similar reports but no resolution. Will contact Samsung.
Mine works fine.
I called Samsung today - the rep had me soft reset etc, I explained I had already done a hard reset, so I was transferred to the warranty department and issued an RMA # for the phone. I am not sure if I'm going to exchange it yet. Because the stock SPen works fine, I think it's fairly likely it can/will be solved with software. I have seen quite a few reports of similar issues. We'll see what happens.

Any update on this? I too purchased the S Pen with eraser and notice certain spots on the screen that won't take the signal as well as others while the "internal" S Pen works flawlessly. Changing the tip improved performance slightly but I'm still thinking about returning it (for the premium that I paid it should work perfectly!)
I had two s pens w/eraser and both were bad. Ended up with s pen with holder. Apparently the new Bamboo feel stylus works too.

No, but it comes with its own S pen. You just can't swap them. Not a big deal.
The pen w/holder is designed more like the note ii s pen but is either an exact match to the note 10.1 or note I.

Note 5 Keyboard Case?

So one of the main reasons ive bought the note 5 is because i saw the keyboard case! i personaly miss having a phisical keybaord (even if its just a overlay) but i cant seem to find it at any store! amazon/samsung best buy none have them listed anywhere and i cant seem to find anymore information about it altho it is still on Sammys page for the Note5. this did pop up today on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/252096526715?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82 but i dont trust it because i cant find it anywhere else. anyone else have one or seen one before?
I want to try this case too and I am patiently waiting for it to show up in best buy so I can decide if I'm buying a note 5 or not.
Someone had posted it was available for pre order somewhere in Europe a couple of weeks ago. Then last week I saw them on eBay. I have a feeling that the eBay ones are coming from overseas.
Someone in the q & a forum has one and was asking a question about different languages on the on screen keyboard or something.
They're the only one here that I've seen so far that actually has the case.

Even if you did want to buy this, would you really be willing to pay 50$+ for a cheap piece of plastic that just covers the screen and presses the touch screen for you(Yes thats what it does, it doesn't actually connect to the phone in any technical way, it just presses the keypad on the touch screen)
Anyways if you are truly interested, it sounds like it'll be released sometime this quarter.....My assumption is it was bad enough that they had to delay the release just to try and get a workable version of some form.

M that's not what it does it must have some type of technology involve because the entire screen shifts up it was what you say the display will remain the same and just be covered by the keyboard.. And the actual keyabord is hard at the back so its definitely not pressing the screen. I'm not sure where you got that info..

The keyboard part of the case clips on the front of the phone when you use it. It shifts the screen up because it brings up the touchscreen keyboard behind it. You can unsnap it from the front and snap it to the back to store it when you want the phone full screen but the keyboard cannot be used when it's clipped on the back side of the case. It's only for "storage".

I just tried this keyboard and if you are using a customized keyboard, you will have a tough time with this.

I also noticed a bit of a lag on the keyboard with this...
Sorry guys i been away from the internet for about a week! super busy with work and forgot to check back in here. @tarunscool yeah i figured you'd have to use the stock keyboard to make it work right. @BKayrac ive seen the reviews mmain thing ive seen is that they all end up quoting the same person and it docent seem like theirs to many true reviews about it. i bought a $800 dollar phone because of that darn case 80 bucks yeah is expensive but if i can type better on it itll be worth it, even if its not a good case the phone is still really awesome and well worth the money.

that was my impression of what the case does. have you seen one in person? it could have a NFC chip in it or a magnet so when its clipped to the front it adjust's the screen just like the flip covers do.
I'll use the google swipe keyboard. Nice and simple. Not an over-abundance of on screen buttons to deal with. Fastest input method besides maybe voice. No need to spend $80
Not a fan of that keyboard case, it does not look very comfortable to type on. I'm going to be trying out the blackberry priv when it comes out if it's available on the jump program as blackberry makes the best keyboards.
Look at this from the Samsung Web Site - not available yet but coming soon: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EJ-CN920UBEGUS
see my topic in the same section ... basically has a big lag on it . making it unusable . got mine via amazon . WASwas shipped from HK . its genuine
I clicked that Samsung link and it's listed and available and... 59.99! That's better than 80!
Wonder if they're worried about performance...

Not something I would use. Also reminds me of my old Blackberry Curve 8330.
