I know there aren't any out yet, unless I've missed some, but as the husband of a woman who just had her screen shatter when the phone was dropped it sure would be handy to have on thread where people could post links to parts when they become available.
I think this would make a great sticky so people can start fixing their phones ASAP once parts are out.
Well there is a section for accessories but I don't know of that would help. I am sure though when replacement or after market back plates are available we will hear about it here..

Damn, for almsot the price of a new 8GB.. Might as well buy a new one and leave the busted one for parts...
Remeber that the backplate houses the nfc chip along with some of the antennas (not 100% sure on the antennas) so it would be a costly replacement compared to a standard back cover

If it is anything like the HTC One X and similar phones you usually heat the old LCD glass/display and it unsticks from the main chassis, you then stick the replacement screen back on.
Unless you know what you are doing when replacing the LCD and in some cases have specialist tools and lots of patience, you are probably better off buying a new phone (when you can get them!) and selling the broken one for spares on Ebay.
Back covers may appear. The HTC One X had replacement back covers available quite soon after launch and these contain the antennas, which are little more than sticky bits of foil, and the NFC antenna, for around £28.00 in the UK. The charging antenna is little different to the NFC antenna and they are both together as one part on the Nexus, so that shouldn't make too much difference, but of course there is the glass as well. But hopefully not too expensive given the likelihood of breakages.

Waiting and hoping for replacement backs or a method to replace the glass specifically. My rear glass cracked on the first drop and unfortunately has a crack on the camera lens.
You are definitely correct about the NFC antenna, looking at the iFixit teardown it's just basically some foil glued to plastic. This should not be a major deal breaker in terms of replacement costs.

The backs should go for about $30-$40 once prices stabilize, I've taken mine apart and it looks fairly cheap to replace. The Digitizer and Glass (along with the bezel) usually are best when purchased as a solid piece (usually titled "Display with frame") and costs $200+ now and will likely stay $150+ in a couple of years. If you crack your display, mail it LGE as they will fix it up for about $150ish I believe, which is the same price you would pay if you had insurance through Sprint for a cracked digitizer ($150 is the standard deductible for a ~$8 a month insurance plan for the SGS3).
has anyone replaced the screen yet? my phone has slid off surfaces loads and never smashed. however a small bit of sand in my pocket and the damn thing gets scratched. i've had touch screen phones for years and never used a screen protector and never had a single scratch, this is my first "gorilla glass" phone and it gets scratched. looking for how difficult it was to replace?
I wonder when replacement ear piece speakers will become available. Phone is working great except for the crackling ear piece. Hopefully it will be a cheap part and easy fix.

Gorilla glass is more durable than ordinary glass. It's a not shatter/crack resistant.

It's engineered to be scratch resistant, not shatter proof.
If it makes impact with something sharp/pointed or if it makes contact in just the right spot, it will shatter. It's just physics.
If the shock can't disperse evenly or if it's absorbed entirely by the screen, it will shatter. That's what bumpers are for.
Either way, you dropped it. That's not Google's fault. They didn't sell you a defective device, they sold a device to a clumsy person.

Not scratch proof. I had a scratch on it after the first day of light use....I have no idea how it got there.
Is there any way I can get this repaired? This is my only phone and I hate the thought that I just threw away $340.

People need to understand that scratch/shatter RESISTANT != indestructible.
A shame that you dropped it and it broke, but LG nor Google has a responsibility to fix your mishap free of charge.

I don't mind paying for a repair. Only reason I didn't have a bumper is because Google sold out of them.
The lady at LG told me to contact Google first and see if they have a repair program. Will let you all know when I can get to a phone to call them.

Yes, same here chief. Bumper sold out, Immediately tho I bought my ass a $3 TPU case from China for the time till the bumpers come back up. You could be paying if the screen/digitizer cost like the nexus did at like 150+ just for that part! Good luck tho man.

As stated above my GN2 had the same fate. Luckily Sammy had a deal here in Sweden and i got it fixed for $100 (US). Shipping included. I really hope Samsung push the development of flexible scratch resistant screens. Hopefully they will be less likely to shatter.

Flexible screen still has to be covered with glass and digitzer ....
My main question is . how much more protection does a cover gives is there a drop test ?
Second question. Dude don't you have a home insurance or anything like that ?if it broke at home you are covered . check your bank account if you're paying for it you might have an insurance on it.
And this is what I'm going to do. Get an insurance for my phone and won't even use a cover or bumper .if it breaks I'll get a new one

This is going to be just like the nexus 7, a cheap build that breaks easy and the slightest crack will make the touch screen stop working. I dropped my nexus 7 on carpet and it cracked in a case. Not a big crack but everything stopped working and the cost to fix it was as much as buying a new one. Had to do a squaretrade scam to get my money back.
Only because the phone is 300 dollars will I be buying one. Going to buy 3 and get one squaretrade warranty so whichever one breaks first can use it.

That sucks, my friend's Nexus 4 cracked a few days too, lower left side of the screen is unusable. If you want to do a DIY repair, the Screen+Digitized+Frame can be found on eBay (shipped from California). Unfortunately, it's pricey ($200+). I think LG is going to charge around $160ish for a repair. Let us know what they quote you.

I just cracked the screen on my note 4 [emoji47]. It is an extremely thin hairline crack that can't be felt by rubbing on the screen but can be felt by passing your nail over it. It's not really noticiable unless the screen is off. Since this is the first time this has ever happend to me im not quite sure what to do. I do have the JUMP! service which includes insurance but how much would i have to pay to get this cracked screen replaced through jump?

I take it you weren't using a case?
According to Samsung advertising, you should be able to drop the Note 4 on a concrete slab from waist high a thousand times without a problem. You only dropped yours once - has to be defective! Check the video below.

I do have a case on it which i specifically bought with the fastest shipping option on amazon to never have my phone without a case. But it still cracked.. Must have been a tiny rock thats taller than the 7mm lip this case has. I had been looking for a glass screen protector since i purchased the case 2 weeks ago and couldn't find any with good reviews Unlucky me.
What do you guys think i should do? Should i file a claim and pay the $175 or should i wait it out until there are screen repair kits and fix it myself? Or do i have any other options?

If it doesn't bother you that bad, you could just wait until it spreads or gets to where it does bother you... Personally, I am obsessive about such things, so I would replace it using JUMP!... I have this as a screen protector - http://www.bodyguardz.com/screengua...-skins-films.html?dir=asc&order=sort_priority -, and different cases for different "outings" a thin Sammie-case, and an Otterbox Defender... Otterbox Defender only comes in black right now, but I HAD to get max protection RIGHT away... Instances like your's happen to us all after all... Anyway, the PURE Glass Protector is great feeling and very protective... I have used them on 3 devices thus far, and stick with them... They have a replacement program that gives you super discounts if you need to replace it also, instead of having to buy another (Advantage Program)... Anyway, hope these options will help... I know how much this new device being damaged must bother you, but the replacement you get will be well protected I am sure (plus, the protection is available now, where it wasn't, when we first received our devices)... You can have these items waiting on your next device, if you choose to!! Let me know if you find other alternatives worth exploring, these are just my favorite options as of now...

If it bugs you a lot, i'll file a claim. It's not easy to fix it yourself since most samsung phones the digitizer and LCD is glued together. Very hard to remove it separately if you're not experienced. If you prefer to do it yourself, it is best to order it as one piece but be prepared to pay a pretty penny which would guaranteed to exceed $175.
I feel for the OP. I just got my Note4 and the thought of cracking it's gorgeous screen scares me. Unfortunately I have to wait until I get paid to order a case for it. Until then I have a nice padded case for my Kindle Paper white that I can use.

i think i cracked mine too in the middle,right. Its small. And i have no idea how it happend. The phone never fell of my hands or hit it with something. Its a T mob N4, maybe the T Mob version its not the same quality as the N4 for europe?
Your phone it cracked because you or someone else has knowingly /unknowingly mishandled your phone.
If you say one doesn't notice it unless the screen is off, then it may not be that bad... BUT if it bother's much, the $175 deductable is the cheapest route in getting it fixed. Technically it'll be a replacement, so better than getting it fixed. They'll say its a refurb, but its new.

Agreed. I had a similar issue and had an overall good experience with Motorola repair. Took about ten days from start to finish.

OK but now I'm in a dilly of a pickle... I have the option to buy the 6p. My concerns are that the 6 isn't gonna receive anymore love now that it's going on two years old. Would it be wise to purchase the 6 again? Or should I just upgrade to the 6p? I love the 6, I do. But...and yes there's always a but lol. But the 6p intrigues me. I've researched and I know its not much of an upgrade but I love the thought of the fingerprint scanner and the overall look of it. But it is slightly smaller in size and I'm a big dude...but (there it goes again), I could always get a case to make up the difference... I ordered the wire from eBay and made a simple jig to hold the wire so I had both hands. I successfully removed the glass. Hooked it back up still works. Am waiting for the new glass and loca glue (didn't order it until I removed old glass so wasn't waisting money if I broke it. I did practice on 2 junk phones first. Only one of the test screens worked before and it still worked after. YouTube videos is what I followed.

Would you care to share your links in what you did?
If better camera and finger print sensor and more comfortable phone in hand is whats important to you i would dive in. I buy 3 phones a year so i can understand you wanting to upgrade even if its not that big of an upgrade . But at this point there won't be any giant leaps from year to year .

I got all the parts on ebay. Used the cheapest I could find from us sellers. You need a loca glu. I used a uv flashlight I got on eBay to cure the glue. Have to put it on all parts of glass for about 30 seconds each spot.

I drilled 2 holes in a 2x10 block of wood about 8" apart and put the wire holding sticks in the holes. Watch YouTube videos to see how to take phone apart
It worked pretty good for me. I ended up with 2 small air bubbles under the glass and glass is slightly lifted on one side. Cannot notice once in cheap tpu case.
I used a locktite glue that takes 24hrs to cure to glue screen back to bezel. Cleaned with close pins while curing. Tried double sided tape didn't hold, krazy glue dried to hard didn't hold screen to bezel. I think all my trial and error and scraping and reglueing the bezel is why it is lifted.
Sorry took so long to reply. Just glued the screen on 2 days ago.
And I am in no way saying this is easy just that it was no where near as hard as I thought it would be. You could easily completely break screen trying this
Update. Screen works fine but... The locktite worked the best but is coming undone again. I believe I may have had the loca glu to thick. And made the screen thicker in doing so. And when I put it together it is pressing out. Am thinking of reseperating and reglueing. Any advice is welcomed
I have a issue, my glass is cracked middle ways of the screen just 1 crack that runs all the way across. The digitizer is not hurt, I have a new glass only kit. It came with just the glass and some UV glue. I don't have insurance on my phone and even if I did it would still cost me 175 to get another device. I think the insurance is pointless because it costs about the same I think if you send it directly to Motorola. The digitizer and glass on eBay is around 175 but it comes with the glass/frame/digitizer. I know that its very hard to change just the screen from what iv been reading. What would you guys recommend I do? I'm trying to avoid spending a lot of money. But if I have to I will. I would like to change just the glass because I ordered that thinking that I could just do it myself, then I got to researching...I have changed the back battery cover and bezzle from midnight blue to cloud white, so I'm familiar with taking it apart. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!!

You mean the digitizer?
Does it have the AMOLED? Or is it literally just the digitizer?
If it is just the digitizer without the amoled, then you're screwed. It is *impossible* to split the amoled from the digitizer without destroying the amoled.
If it is the digitizer PLUS the amoled, then you can go ahead and smash SMASH SMASH!!!
The amoled+digitizer is glued onto the plastic frame, so you'll want something like a razor blade to carefully break the connection between them without damaging the plastic frame. Once they're separated, you clean up the surface, and just glue them back together.
The metal cover that you see over the existing amoled on the back of the screen+frame unit just pops off.

The digitizer isn't hurt at all the glass is just cracked. I have a new glass with the glue that goes in between the glass and digitizer. Will I need any adhesive for the mid frame?

I was in the same boat. I decided to have it professionally fixed. I usually fix all my phones, but the price of the glass with everything attached was just as expensive as having a professional fix it. with a warranty.
The part i found was on average between 150 and 180. it only cost me 200 to get the phone fixed by someone.

I only have 185 in my phone,lol that's what sucks..I'm trying to avoid spending a lot of money...but I might have to spend more than I want. If I can do it myself then I will try. I really don't have anything to lose.

It's not easy but it can be done. The LCD is very fragile and it takes a lot of time and patience to remove the old glue. I have a screen separator machine that heats up the glass and makes it easier to separate but it is still a lot of work and very easy to destroy the LCD. I've heard of people doing it with a heat gun but that is risky because you can't regulate the temp and can kill the LCD. Make sure to invest in some plastic razors if you attempt it. Also you will need a UV light to cure the glue as it will only harden under UV.

There is 1 good tutorial but there is no speaking in the video, just some lame ass music. The guy in the video also uses a hot plate a thin piece of some kinda wire. There needs to be a better video on how to replace just the glass screen on a nexus 6, a detailed video with speaking..

Thank you, for you're advice brother! I took my device apart awhile ago all the way down to the mother board. I came to realize that I'm just gonna have to wait and hope I can scrape up some money and hopefully get lucky and find someone that has a used nexus 6 for cheap if I'm gonna spend 150 to 175 bucks on just a LCD frame assembly, hell I might as well just buy another nexus 6. And if i let Motorola replace my phone its still gonna be 175 bucks and all of them will probably be refurbs! I have 185$ in this one. I bought it off swappa haven't even had this damn thing a month yet lol. When I bought the phone it still had a warranty on it, the warranty ran out about a week before I broke it lol. Jus my luck.

Nexus 6 does not have an LCD. It has an AMOLED.
AMOLED is less than 1mm thick. It CANNOT be removed from the glass digitizer without destroying it.

I'm not saying that its easy, and I'm not saying that it can't be done successfully either. But I do know this on a scale of 1 being the easiest and 10 being almost impossible. I would rank it a 9.7. So I'm going to just go and buy the digitizer + glass + frame and do it my self.

I tried exactly the same you were about to do but ended up destroying the LCD when I tried separating the LCD from the plastic frame. I had no choice but bought the LCD (with the glass already glued) but still it wasn't easy to attach the LCD back to the bent frame.
Obviously you know what to do because you have disassembled the N6 before, but be careful when you separate the LCD-broken glass from the frame. There just isn't much leverage.
So I bought this Mi Mix dirt cheap because it had a cracked screen and the bezel is cracked also. Where’s a good place to get replacement parts. I’ve heard of isssues with the lcd and ambient light sensors. Can someone point me in the right direction? The lcd is fine on my phone but the glass is cracked. Is it possible to replace the glass or is it just easier to replace the whole assembly?

How much did you pay?
Mi Mix - Epic Pro
Replacing whole unit would be easier but costlier , replacing glass is cheaper but not easy, you'll need a lot of patience if your are fixing it on your own(or if some expert agrees on doing it for ya might be a plus point), you'll need special adhesive to bind glass to screen,most people use some sort of thin thread to remove glass from LCD, I have seen few people replacing AMOLED panels which are even more thinner then the IPS on Mi Mix but its not easy process lots of things should be kept in mind ,and you might end up breaking your display
1*See if someone is buying that display then sell it and buy a whole new assembly
2*If 1 is no help then you'll be left with 2 options replace glass or assembly
Either way you can give replacing glass a try if you get the glass cheaper
Replacing whole assembly is your last resort
Check you jerryrigeverthing channel on YouTube he did disassemble Mi Mix and he also replaced glass on a samsung oled panel

Paid $100 for the 6GB + 256GB one. Though the $100 came from recycling soda pop cans which were given to me. So in the end I didn’t pay out of pocket for it.

Last time I checked the full assembly plus frame cost upwards of 200$, not including service costs of course.
Which means that fixing up that beast is still going to be pretty pricy.
If you have the tools, skills and patience to do it though then that's definitely a goal worth pursuing.
Keep us updated on your progress, I love following DIY projects like these.
Looks like vopmart sells the bezel for 90 and the screen assembly for 100 + 10 for frame. Hmmm. What to do... Gotta check out some more teardowns to see if I want to do it myself. But from what I can see it doesn’t look to bad. I’m just not sure about the optic glue + glass & ips panel.
Little update on this. Went to the local cellphone repair shop and asked a quote for a lcd assembly replacement. I was quoted for $120 total (parts & labor) for full assembly replacement. Which also includes lifetime warranty on the screen as long as the screen is available. The repair guy was looking for screens on eBay including the frame for the lcd. Seems pretty damn good if you ask me and I wouldn't have to do the dirty work. But thing is I don't know how well they do repairs. Also, I forgot to ask for a quote for the bezel.

Did the original adhesive hold the new screen in? what about the back panel?

There are some teardowns on YouTube, quite easy with a few hurdles, the hardest part for me was removing the battery, there are tabs you pull that's supposed to help but they just snapped on me. If you're lucky it might work if not don't rush it or the battery will puncture and you will need a new one, the copy batteries are crap. Watch the teardowns a few times and you will get it. AliExpress was where I got mine there are loads of sellers with them. You will need some b7000 glue as the replacements don't have adhesive on them. The glue is very cheap and the screen come with tools.

You need to be very selective when buying the LCD. Almost all of them do not have the oleophobic coating turning the screen into a smudgefest within minutes. I replaced my coated screen with an uncoated screen initially and it was disgusting. Luckily it was defective so I returned it for my money back and then went to Aliexpress. This vendor has the only coated version I know of:

Man screens come without it and you then need to pry the old one off and glue it to the new screen. Often the glue is not strong enough and the diesplay will lift out of the phones body. Sure, it is more expensive than other options, but worth every cent. The display is fee of defects, sits flush with the ceramic frame and makes the phone look pristine.

This is all true, mine is smudge magnet, I can live with it but annoying everything else is ok, I clean the screen with solution then use liquid car Wax to add a bit of a coating against fingerprints, 3 coats of car Wax and a good polish off. Helps a little bit with smudges. It feels really smooth afterwards.

I got my mi mix screen replaced by ShatterFix (www dot shatterfix dot com). Heard of them from a friend. They have pickup and delivery service across India.
They replaced it with a 100% genuine screen and delivered back on the very next day.
Costed me 9599 INR. Service centre was asking 13.5k here in Delhi.
