what a crock.
there is no real difference between an ipad/nexus unless they take into account cellular connectivity/mobile data. Two comparable wifi devices with different rights is rubbish.

Someone is probably paying ESPN for the priviledge of streaming to the iPad.

Probably has something to do with the exclusive contract the NFL has with Verizon.

More likely a business arrangement between apple and ABC/ESPN if it was Verizon not all iPads would be able to stream it either.

I assume it's because the WatchESPN app treats the N7 like a phone (correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the iPhone can stream MNF). Which in this case sucks. Similar to having a tablet only sub for the NY Times.
I'd be curious to know if it's playable on the N10. If not that would really be wrong...

You know if there was a proxy app that we can modify the headers being sent, we would be able to spoof ESPN servers into thinking its an iPad, just look at header request and force that through the proxy. Any thoughts? This thoroughly makes me mad!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

I'd be pretty pissed too. I think your header idea in theory would work. Or maybe using a player>open URL or open ftp. Then attach the header prefix and see what happens.

MNF on watch easpn
It's funny because I can't watch MNF on my phone or one of my tablets, but it can't be because it has to be an IPad. My second tablet is also an Android and I can watch it on that one. It's an Acer Iconia A81. So don't buy their lies.

Oh well. I already got my 32gb from Office Depot.

My guess is the 32gb n7 will hit the play store (we all know it's already waiting to be sold in stores)
But the unveiling of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 and 4.2 might wait.

Jelly Bean 4.2 will have Multiple User Accounts -- Privacy At Last!

From Google's press release / blog post today:
With Android 4.2, you can add multiple users and switch between them instantly right from the lockscreen. We believe that everyone should have quick and easy access to their own stuff -- email, apps, bookmarks, and more. That way, everyone can have their own home screens, their own music, and even their own high scores.

This will solve one of my greatest complaints -- my only complaint, actually -- about the Nexus-7. I have to go to lengths to be able to hand my tablet to anyone else to use while still protecting my privacy. It galls me that not only do I have to lock down the Gmail app before handing over my N7, I have to lock down Chrome too, because Chrome will either automatically log into my account when Chrome visits mail.google.com (aka gmail.com) or will offer to do so. Same for all other Google sites (e.g. Google+). I hate that. Once JB 4.2 is on my N7, that will no longer be a concern.
This is pretty nice; although I don't let anyone else really touch or use my Nexus 7
When would they start 4.2 OTA for N7?? Nov 13 or earlier?
This would be nice.
My nexus is used as a family tablet & i'm reluctant to add my google account.
I'd like all of the goodies from the store from my account but don't want my gmail on there as the wife would go mental if she looked through all of my reciepts!
Yeah any word on 4.2 update?

Can you make other accounts limited users? As in, no you can uninstall half the apps I have installed. I launch a file manager and go snooping around other account directories.
I though the update was today... i immediately checked for updates on my device as soon as I saw 4.2

I would actually let other people use my tablet with this!
This is huge... We're beginning to roll out Nexus 7's in select areas of work (K-12 public school district) to students with special needs and/or classes who can benefit from these devices. It would be awesome to have multiple accounts, ESPECIALLY if we can lock it down. I'd love to hand the Nexus 7 out to elementary students knowing that the icons cannot be deleted, etc. Any word on the degree of limits, if any, you can assign other users?
Should be good, chromebooks do this well already , log in and have all your ****, themes, bookmarks, logins/ passwords, apps, Google drive etc all separate and personalised. Even downloads are in a user specified area, available to just that user. simple old idea, but effectively done.

I'm sure it'll have some sort of administrtive rights to it
I share my Nexus 7 with my daughter - and it is actually quite hard getting it away from her.
Separate log ins and sign on's will make everything a lot more convenient - except the physical part of getting it back...
Now she can have the screens the way she wants.

And I'm bored....

I was really fired up about getting my N7. I got it, rooted it, flashed it, bricked it, fixed it, flashed it, and then loaded it with all of the best games and every emulator… 2 days later I’m now bored and have no use for it no more than my android phone… I might try running a virtual PC but…I’m a little sad I lost interest this quickly. What is everyone else using their tablets for that keeps them from collecting dust?
I use mine all the time for gaming, Web browsing, splash top, wifi remote control, browsing forums, news, entertaining my 2 year old, navigation, banking and managing all my rss download feeds on u torrent, I am sure there is more I do I am not thinking of too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If you truly loaded up the tablet with the best games you would still be playing them and wouldn't be bored after 2 days.
u could always get a comic book or ebook reader and read some stuff idk.
I bought mine primarily to replace my older Kindle so I could get books and magazines with photos that the Kindle sucks at. I like playing Angry Birds on it, but do that mostly on my phone. I also fly my AR Drone with it. I didn't buy it to be using it all day.

Almost 5000 posts since April? No wonder you can't find life.
I just keep trying the different emulators now for gaming but i dont spend a lot of time with the tablet in my hand at all
For me it's mostly the form factor. Browsing the web, reading text, etc. is very, very nice on a 7" screen and many games just look better and play better as well. Plus I love the fact that I can install Ubuntu naively on it and basically use it as a laptop replacement if I need to.

I actually expected that to happen with me. It didn't. My 7 pretty much replaced my laptop and took half the load off my phone. I never thought I'd like a tablet but ended up pleasantly surprised.

I use mine for the same reasons others have posted here, but I also have been tinkering with integrating my nexus into my (rather crude) home automation system driven by arduino. With an arduino, tasker, a bit of tinkering and programming, I'm able to open/close my garage door and control my lights with tasker using voice commands or tasker widgets on my home screen.
I have been an iPhone and ipad guy since they came out years ago and recently switched all of my devices over to nexus ones and can't be happier with the openness. When I do get a bit bored with it, I try to come up with an idea to use my nexus to make my life easier and hopefully learn something new along the way.
Good luck with your quest. And by the way, if any one is interested, I can probably throw up a tutorial describing how I achieved this.

As far as I'm concerned my phone is for when I leave the house, while my tablet is for everything else. If you're bored, then it's not the fault of the device, it just means that you don't have enough interesting content on it.

I have a nexus 7, it has a good purpose.
My computers purpose is to run high end software such as 3ds max and the adobe design suite, as well as a bunch of games.
My laptops purpose is to sit in my room until i buy it a new power cord, then its purpose is to be sold, or something...
My phones purpose is to text and call people, and when i dont have my tablet on me its so i can play games and sketch.
My tablets purpose is so i can browse the web, read books, play games i dont on the computer, and to be a digital sketchpad until i can afford a medium intuos 5.
Bored with your tablet? Find a purpose for it such as netflix, reading books, sketching, incessantly flashing software until you break it, etc.

General release time-frame for Nexus 5 launch date

Let's get some crowdsource info on when this phone may launch. Most of us are shooting between on or around the 28th or 31st of this month This will be my first nexus purchase and will be doing it from my phone while at work. I have limited access to data and don't have the luxury of squatting at a pc on comcast ready to purchase with several friends.
Roughly when did the Nexus s, galaxy nexus and nexus 4 launch during the day. I imagine they will follow the breakfast pattern of the prior one but who knows? Were these released as they discussed the availability or later? Please grant a faithful user some reliable data so I can be a happy boy heading into the Holidays with a shiny new gadget ;-p

No reason to lock this thread. This is not the general "when will it be released" thread. This is asking if there has been a pattern in previous releases for the time of day that it goes live in the play store. I'm curious about this too as I have never followed the release of any of the other Nexus devices. I don't want to sit with my finger on the trigger at 8 AM if every other Nexus device has gone live at 6 PM for example. He's just asking for some history if anyone knows it.
We only have the N4 launch to go on, as the Gnex only came to the Play Store WAY after launch day (hence it didn't have the craziness of N4's release).
N4 went live around 8am in the UK. I suspect they may follow the same pattern again just hope they have the availability this time!

Officially it went live at 8am, but people were able to purchase up to 10mins before. 7.50am
So did it go live on the store at everyone's 8 am? Because 8 am UK is like 4 am EST.
If I can buy it at 7:53 am or sooner then I'm in.....later than 7:53 and I'll never ever buy it!!!!

It was a staggered release. Australia went live first when 8am local time rolled around. As long as your country's Play Store was selling the N4, it went live at 8.
There was a problem in the US, since it went live 15 minutes before 8. Then sold out in 15 minutes. So people who were expecting it at 8 got shafted.
@evleaks are saying the unveiling is on the 1st November which is this Friday

Yeah, it was *supposed* to be 8 AM PST, but like others have said, it went live a few minutes early.
I'm located in the Central time zone and I purchased my Nexus 4 at 9:56 CST, so it was definitely live before the scheduled time.
Once they give us a date and time (if we get that much) I'd suggest checking the Play Store at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

Watch ESPN with Monday Night Football

Has anyone successfully watched a Monday night football game using an android tablet and chromecast with the watch espn app?
I have a nexus 9 and dont see this mondays game on the upcoming schedule but when I got to watch espns site I see that Monday Night football is allowed with android tablets. I should also mention im logged in to the app with my cable provider.
