[Q] TwICS v3.01 ICS ROM call problem

I'm running TwICS ROM (based on CM9), and everything runs fine and VERY fast, but I just have one TINY problem
When I first boot into phone I can call normally, but just ONCE. After the 1st call I CAN'T CALL anyone, but others CAN reach me. I've tried going into airplane mode and back, tried reflashing ROM (allways did full wipe) but nothing helped!
Does anybody know is there a fix? Could I try flashing a new modem, and if so then WHICH ONE? I'm on Tele2 Europe network (GSM 900/1800 UMTS 900/2100).

I've also tried ICS333 1.02 rom, and still the same thing. This one even has a different kernel. Tried doing full wipe, cache, dalvik, also format all except /boot and /emmc, and still nothing....what might be the reason for this...ANYONE????

I've tried a different SIM (other network) and that one works fine. I've also tried changing APN's. They are set up right for the first network, but I can't still call (except for the first time after reboot). There are no APN's for the second SIM, but that one calls fine???
Did ANYONE had a similar problem????
Any help would be appreciated!

Another update...since it seems I'm talking to myself anyway.
If I go into dialer -> settings -> "Call forwarding" and "Aditional settings" I get:
"NETWORK OR SIM CARD ERROR".
What might be the problem?

When trying *#21# to see if I have call forwarding settings i get: "Call forwarding Connection or invalid MMI code"

I've allready checked IMEI, and serial. They are both the same as on the back of my phone (imei starts with 354...). Also Viber and WhatsUp are working fine which they wouldn't if the imei was wrong.
Is there still chance that efs folder has some faults?

A little bit more info.
I've found backups of previous efs folders. One with bad imei (0049) and the other with correct imei.
What I did was: copy WRONG efs folder and rebooted to confirm wrong imei (0049) then copied the RIGHT efs folder and rebooted again.
And STILL the same thing.
I've downloaded a bunch of CM9 modems (as I am on TwICS now) so I'll try flashing them, I wish I only knew what modems I should try as there are about 30 of them!

Yet another update.
I've tryed a couple of modems for CM9 and nothing works. On EVERY modem the bug is the same!
When I make first call after reboot it works fine, but after that I can't make outgoing calls. When I try to call someone it immediately says "Call ended". I then tryed calling 112 and that WORKS!!!! WHYYYYYYYYY??????
Anyone, ANY CLUES TO WHAT MIGHT BE HAPPENING?
The SIM card also works fine on other phones!

Thanks for the help everyone, I think I figured it out.
I got friends SIM in my phone and that one works fine.
Also if I go back to CM7.2 my SIM works as well, so somehow my SIM doesn't work with ICS. Weird bug, but there it is. I'll ask for a new SIM and that should hopefully solve the problem.

[Solved][Q]Couldn't make call on 3G/H after updating baseband

OMG, after I tried SU660 baseband to solve wired loss of signal and nvFlash to 28G rom and baseband for my made in Korean "P990", it couldn't make any in/out coming call on 3G/H mode.
Say, the internet connection is all right. But whenever I call someone, the call would immediately cut off(CM10 showed network busy, stock 28G shows Call Ended). And any incoming call is the same, cut off directly (it won't go to Voice mail so I would lose the call without signal).
Everything's fine on 2G/EDGE mode.
Thus, I try to nvflash/smartflash back to CM10/Gingerbread to test if this is 28G rom problem but the problem still exist.
I have also tried diff. rom, baseband and RIL but same problem as above, 2G works, 3G fatal problem.
My original rom is cm10 with baseband 725.
SIM card seems no error as it works on other phone.
Could anyone have any ideas to solve this issue?:crying: I can't live without 3G. Thank you in advance.
Could anyone quote the baseband and ril used for cm10? so I could test it.

[Problem Solved]
This issue should be about the IMEI or CAL data.
I had fixed it by erase CAL data with smartflash and reset IMEI with hyperterminal.

There is no original CM 10 ROM with BB 725. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047 by tonyp and go to the download section. Get the 2011-218-10b Baseband. Flash it accordingly. Install CM 7 or 9 via CWM and do not forget to format your system partition in CWM first. Can usually be found under 'Mount'. Oh, and wipe it too. After installation boot your phone and do not change the RIL. The right RIL is already in the ROM.
Test it and give feedback.

But the problem still exists.

both don't work. My phone is now half brick and full brick repair is of no use.
I'm now looking for stock bb and rom as my last effort.:crying: and omg again nexus 4 is from Lie's Good again if I had to buy a new phone. hate it a lot after P990.=(

Thought that my guide would help you. Hm. Last resort: then try to flash a kdz file. Gingerbread e.g.
Will wipe everything and includes BB and RIL. Also wipes your internal SD and recovery. Try it.
If it isn't working then it is maybe hardware related and a possible case for the LG warranty. So kdz flashing would be a good idea anyway.

And finally i installed winXP for kdz and restore to v10f stock rom (kdz crash on win 8 and the installation takes me for over 2 hours). Under stock v10f & v20h, 3G is still not working. I thought this is SIM card or hardware issue now. Lucky me I bought this phone at the highest price and its life is less than 2 years. Time to bring it to repair.

That are bad news. A lot of work for nothing.
Please try switching/changing the SIM card first. If it is really the culprit then your carrier shouldn't charge you for a new one. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend for testing your phone...
Sending it to LG is really the last resort.

Today I go to LG repair center for inspection. I find out that only my current carrier is not working. Say:-
Case one: my own Sims on my phone, don't work
Case two: my own Sims on other phone(same model P990), work (My Sims is fine)
Case three: other Sims with the same Carrier, don't work
Case four: other Sims with different Carrier, work
Thus, all Sims from my current carrier on my half brick P990 don't work. Other Sims from other carrier work.
The CS said the mainboard maybe broken after help restore officially and quotes HKD1600/USD200 for the repairing cost:cryingcost 2/3 nexus 4)
Just making a conclusion on it. Hope it could help someone with similar symptoms.
Maybe it's time to say goodbye to this forum and thank all contributed to my ex-phone.

Can´t use simcard: `emergency only`

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 for 3 years now. I flashed different roms and did root my phone in all these years. But... now i received a new sim card which works well in other phones but NOT in my ace. So that must be a problem with my ace.. I just flashed back to the stock rom (XEN - Netherlands S5830XENKS1) via ODIN but the problem is still there, i can't use my sim-card: "Emergency only".
I already wiped data and cleared cache, hard reset... nothing works. What could i try to have my phone back working with sim card so i can call, sms and use my dataplan. My phone have no simlock i checked and the IMEI is also the right. The one shown by #06# is the same as printed behind my battery. I also received a new sim card from my provider, but this one also has the same problem.
I hope you guys can help me out! :good::good::good:
UPDATE 1: I tried differend sim cards in the phone. I always used to have T-Mobile as provider. All other simcards are not working, theyre showing up for a few seconds and after that it says: Emergency calls only. When i put in a T-Mobile sim card the provider keeps displayed, so it looks like my phone only works with a t-mobile card. But it's not sim locked, because i also used differend sim cards before..
UPDATE 2: Now my simyo simcard also connects and i can sms, call and internet. But after a few seconds/minutes again the message: Emergency calls only
WHAT COULD THIS PROBLEM BE??!!??! Strange.............. I really hope someone can help me out this

I think your device has a problem to make contact with sims cards, so your device have a trouble accessing read and use sim cards... You can send your device to the support service, to check or try to fix it...Have your warranty still in effect?

Hello, thanks for your reply! No, my warranty is not active anymore. My phone is 3 years old. Today i went to another city and could call and sms the whole day. No internet. When i came home, i received again the message: emergency only. How strange.. I also could'nt find a good rom or firmware to flash back my phone to the full original software and firmware... Can someone help me on that? I need the newest firmware for the samsung galaxy ace s5830, netherlands version. Or maybe a custom rom which is the most used and stable version. I would like to exclude software reasons, so it might be a hardware problem. But i think it's a software fault cause of the different roms i tried on the phone.

It's very strange.. here it is Netherland's fws, try flashing your device if you want, but I've never heard that strange problem xD

You can also flash whatever fw you want from EUROPE, because your device is unlocked in order to check your sim's trouble

Again flashed the original firmware to my Ace. Wiped data and cleared cache. Everything works..... Except... the simcard. Can't call, can't sms and can't make an internet connection. So, still the same problem. The sim works well in another phone, and another simcard in the Ace gives also "Emergency call only". So it HAS to be something with my phone. Someone any idea's i can try / check now i'm very sure it's a phone problem with original new flashed firmware? I hope it's not an hardware defect......... how can i check?
UPDATE: The only simcard which works well is a T-Mobile prepaid simcard. All other simcards sometimes shows up, but most of the time not. The more strange fact is today: I went to another city and was able to call and sms the whole day. But no internet. When i came home, i received again the message: emergency only. This is so strange and makes me very sad. The phone is simlockfree, WHAT COULD IT BE So strange............

Tomorrow i had internet connection, could call and sms. My provider was shown on the screen and nothing wrong. But unfortunately just for a few minutes... No stable connection.

Someone any idea? :crying:

I too faced this problem once.....What I did is that I just formatted the system , wiped data , cache , sd ext and dalvik cache and then restored a backup of my earlier ROM in which the Sim was working ! And it was fixed....

Thanks for your reply! I did your trick but unfortunately... It did'nt help. Very interesting thing is, while i'm traveling around there is no problem, but as soon as i stop driving and walk around, the problems are back. Someone any idea on this strange problem? :crying:

You dont have any choice other than visiting the service centre. Yes they may charge you a good amount but seems none of the methods are working.
Also try contacting your service provider maybe thay know the exact reason.

[Q] Not registered on network

Hi
I have an unlocked P970, it recognizes my Sim card but there is no bar and it says "Not registered on network". Sim card works on other phones and it even shows my contacts on my phone and change the language and date to my provider when I insert it. I've checked the IMEI and it's correct.
Android version:2.3.4
Baseband version: XMM6160
Software version: V20C
I've tried checking 2945#*970# but all options say "Your phone is not personalized".
I did factory reset but no luck.
I deleted the Entire CP and flashed again and still no luck.
Checked a few other V10 and V20 versions, didn't help. I got security error when tried V30 versions so I switched back to V20.

Try asking your current Network Carrier or even flash back to stock LG and ask LG themselves. Sorry if it seems obvious or doesn't help... Good luck bud! :thumbup:

KU5900 with no mobile connection
Hi everybody!
I hope to be in the correct thread, because i have a problem similar to Exergy.
A friend of mine has a locked/original KU5900 (korean version with 2.2.2) that he used without problem with the korean SIM, in Korea and in Germany.
Now he's in Germany and with a german SIM (that works in other phones) the phone has no mobile connection, neither the possibility to send SMS (only receive them, and make and receive calls).
We tried to download the configuration SMS from O2, but it tells that is not possible tried also to use APN Global from the playstore, and tried to configure manually...but also doesn't work...
Any idea?

Since recently I can't make any calls (or sms or 3g etc) with my o2x. I installed gb through smartflash and every time I try to call someone I get the message "Mobile network not available". I tried deleting my IMEI (Erase cal data in smartflash) and setting it back, and my imei is like it should be. But i still can't make/receive calls :'(
In About phone -> Status it says at mobile network type: UNKNOWN:0
I also tried other roms (on new bootloader) and stock gingerbread and changing #ro.telephony.default_network=0 to ro.telephony.default_network=0 (aka enabling it, I found this setting today and thought it may help me, but that isn't true)
I also tried rebooting my phone and turning on/off aeroplane mode, but since the problem is on all the roms, I gave u trying that.
I found that other phones also had this problem, but using their fixes also didn't work...
I hope you can help me

you lost your imei, search forum for imei restore procedure. its not as difficult as it sounds. a lot of people - including me - already had this problem

Maybe it's a base band problem. I lost my IMEI but i can still make phone calls.

I already did that. I tried to reset my IMEI and setting it back to what it should be because someone said that that may fix the problem.

I tried 30a and 30b and stock gb one, so I don't think thats the problem.

Did you check the SIM Slot?!
First, try to go back stock ICS.
In my case, i was have same problem like you.
but i was solve the problem after go to stock ICS.
Please check!
1. SIM Slot
2. /system/lib/lge-rill.so
3. IMEI Number Changed
etc...

Maybe a damaged Sim card ??

Sim card is okay (I tried another one, didn't work either), my ril however didn't exists, so I downloaded ics-newbl-ger from goo.im (for the p990) and that didn't work. Can you suggest another ril?
My IMEI is ok, i'll try to go to stock ics/gb but can't find any links? Can you give me one?

Maybe a problem with baseband and RIL. I don't think that the V30 baseband will work with Stock GB ROM. Try a GB baseband and install a compatible RIL, eg. with the GetRIL app from sibbor.
