What exactly are you trying to do? Update through Skies?
You could get on stock KK4 (Gingerbread) with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
But before you do so, you have some reading to do!
Oh and once unlock, always unlock. You don't have to worry about your sim being locked (and in the worse case, remove it before doing the reset).

[Q] Please help me to upgrade my Google Nexus One phone from Version 2.3.1 to 2.3.4

Hello There,
I am not able to upgrade my Google Nexus One phone from android version 2.3.1 to 2.3.4. I did get the latest version under system updates i.e. "Nexus One update to Gingerbread MR2". The file size is 87.6 MB. After I downloading the file it showing a message saying that your phone is up to date. When I rebooted my phone it showing the same old version 2.3.1.
I even tried doing factory reset and tried downloading but did not succeeded. Can you please help me out to upgrade my phone from 2.3.1 to 2.3.4 manually or through air. Please find the below details of my phone.
Model Number: Nexus One

I am not sure I fully understand what you are trying to accomplish, but it seems like you are trying to upgrade to the latest official android release, right?
If so, it won't work. You need to get the newer version of MicroMod and use that to update. You should just be able to flash it over your current install without any wiping required.

[Q] About kernels and basebands

I've searched the forums but to no avail, so I'll just ask this here. I'm interested in changing the ROM of my Xperia X8 (E15a). With S1Tool I checked whether I could unlock the bootloader of my device, however the certificate is not recognized so that's a no-go for me. For this reason I'm stuck with stock kernels only.
Here is my device info:
Code:
Model number: E15a
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Compilation number: 2.0.1.A.0.47
Here's when it gets confusing. All the ROMS I find here on xda say that I should use a baseband that ends in 015 and if I don't have that baseband, I should update with PC Companion to the latest one. PC Companion says that my device is already up to date, so I can't get another baseband. So I thought of trying flashing with FlashTools a baseband that actually ends with 015. However I read that that basebands work with specific kernels, so my best guess is that I should find a baseband for kernel 2.6.29, right? Well, I'm out of luck cause I can't seem to find that thing.
So, basically the question is: How do kernels and basebands are related and what should I do if for instance I want to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079463... should I flash a older kernel for which a baseband with 015 does exists or what?
Thanks in advance

[Q] [Help] Will Rooting Device ReLock it again?

My device was sent to Carphone Warehouse (Verified Repair Shop UK) for a screen reapir. I burnt out the digitizer when I flashed something ment for the Galaxy Note 2. Used triangle away and reverted back to stock before sending. Came back flashed with stock Vodafone ROM, orginally on stock Three Rom. It's a contract phone which I got directly from Three. Sent to Samsung, returns still running stock Vodafone ROM but now unlocked for Three Sim. If I root the phone and install CWM with it revert back to a Vodafone lock? What did they actually do to the phone at Samsung, I'm guessing they flashed a new kernel. (I'm an amatuer when it comes to this)
Phone Details:
Model Number: GT-i9305
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband Version: i9305XXUEMK1
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-2051278

Build Number: Jss15J. i9305XXUEMKC

Whats the difference between i9305XXUEMK1 and I9305XXUEML9?
Thanks
rooting or installing CWM or installing any firmware you want it won't lock it...you can do it no problem...
the difference between those to is the date they have been released...it's a code that say region,country,date...coded in samsung way.

Lost IMEI on G920A, Android 6.0.1

I have SM-G920A from US, AT&T. I suppose, it has been unlocked before re-selling. Was working fine in Europe (Lithuania) on a local network for two months. But after no visible impact (no physical damage, no flashing etc) it has lost IMEI and networking. My guess - it happened after an automatic update. Is there any chance to regain IMEI? (no back-up was made before)
I have checked the IMEI on various sites - it seems to be not blocked, clean.
Right now I have such information:
Firmware's CSC Code: ATT
Bootloader Version: G920AUCS4CPG1
PDA Version: G920AUCS4CPG1
CSC Version: G920AUCS4CPG1
Baseband Version: [empty]
Android version: 6.0.1
Build Number: MMB29K.G920AUCS4CPG1
IMEI: [empty]
Android Serial Number: 03157df3d063aa03
Samsung serial number: R38G30Q4CBA
I would very appreciate your help, guys! Could it help to re-instal G920AUCS4CPG1 via Odin? Any other solutions?

Do you mean to restore backup? Would it be easy, but no backup has been made before with SmartSwitch.
