Best Note 2 specific car mount - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I always prefer custom car mounts that are made for certain phones, as they tend to have built-in USB charging and a cleaner look, rather than having to mount the phone, then plug in the cable after. What car mounts are out there that people would recommend?

From what i've seen, the only car mount that with a built in charger is the brodit active one which is specific to the Note 2. It's not very cheap (about £40).

Yup, Brodit aka Proclip gets my vote for now. Bought 2 of them for me and the wif. Now I feel poor but know I have solid, clean mounts for my $650 phones.

Looks great but pricey. I may give in tho, I have no where to place the phone in my car, it currently resides under my thigh when I drive (use it with my aux port)

I use Ram mounts. I've got a suction cup which I don't like because the only spot to mount it in my car is the windshield but I ordered a seat bolt mount as well with an 18" arm so it should put the phone near my arm rest within a few inches of my aux and usb ports. Added benefit of being inversal, I use the claw grip.

I have the proclip and it works great, the only issue I have ever had with their clips is that is doesn't put the phone into car mode but that is pretty much the way all 3rd party car docks/mounts are so...

Car/Bike Mount Kit Recommendations For TMOUSA HD2

I've read the thread over on the Euro HD2 part of the site, but there's little said about car & bike mounts that fit the TMOUSA HD2's. I'm especially interested in mounts that can charge while using GPS/Sat Nav (evidently some charges don't provide enough output). Any recommendations?

Well it's not any use for bikes, but brodit makes the best car mounts I've ever used, and you can order them with or without a power connection built-in. The one I used with my wizard charged it even faster than a wall charger. They also will let you flip the phone from portrait to landscape (and back) as needed.

sirphunkee - thanks for the info on the Brodit adapters. I was looking at both the Brodit adapters and the Herbert Richter mounts (not a fan of the vent mounts) from http://www.pdahut.com/store/home.php?cat=2717 . The one nice thing I can see from their stuff is that you could have a Herbert Richter car mount and bike mount and use the same Brodit adapter for both. Anyone using any others with success?

Actually Brodit/ProClip does make a mount for bikes... Brodit Bike Mount. I don't own the bike mount myself but I can definitely vouch for their car mounts, I've used them for my last two devices and now presently for my HD2.
Nice! I just ordered my ProClip Auto Mount for the HD2 (USA). This is more money than I wanted to spend, but it looks like a great solution and I really like where it will mount to my dash.
Again, Great forums, and great site.
Two thumbs up for ProClip
I don't want to sound like an advertisement, but wow, the ProClip is a spectacular car mounting system. Good quality mount, that works very well. It was more money than I wanted to part with, but I am satisfied.
I didn't think about the fact that I will have to ditch the rubber glove the HD2 comes with. I suppose I better invest in a clear shield solution and a belt clip case like the RIMs used to come in.

If you're referring to using a clear shield while it's in the proclip car mount then it wont work. The clear shield will make it to big and not fit properly in the mount...I tried the same thing a couple devices ago.
try www.bracketron.com. They have just about everything I could think of, and decent prices. I love my universal usb charger.
Also, if you wish to get the bike mount, looks like all of the brackets, waterproof cases, etc have universal slots on the back to fit any type of mount.

Good tip. Darn! Well I guess I will have to just use it bare. I really wish the HD2 had a finish like the original HTC Dash for T-Mobile. It was a slight rubbery texture that didn't slide at all. These slick finishes lead to drops and falls.
Bicycle Mount
I just bought this from Amazon and used it today. Did 15 miles and it was awesome. I use a GPS app and listen to my music via bluetooth headphones and it was nice not to have to put my phone in my pouch.

Here's an interesting and inexepnsive alternative that I just ordered. Will let you know how it is when I receive it.

I have used Brodit stuff in the past and I am crazy about their products. Every now and then they have one that does not fit exactly properly, however I believe this one should work well - for the US T-Moboe version.... anybody have this?

On the first page of this thread there are many posts of users (including myself) who've made this purchase and love it. You can't go wrong with this mount, the best I've used to date.
is there a way i can use the pro clip and still maintain use of the micro usb slot? I have a carputer and i tether the hd2 to my PC, so I would need to be able to access the micro USB port to connect a usb cable to the pc

Yes, the usb slot is always accessable with pro clip mounts. The need to be able to charge the device while in the mount is crucial.
Actually, the proclips are available with and without a built-in charger...so if you want to keep the port free, just be sure to order the one that doesn't have the charger cord/plug attached.

ProClip Tablet mount

Has any one tried this mount with the nexus 7?
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 (P3100) - Holder with Tilt Swivel
Item #: 511381
thanks
No, but I've emailed them. They said they are still waiting to receive their Nexus. Then they would probably have a 3-5 week period before they'd be available for order.
can we get a link PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE
THANKS in advance
Here's a link to the one in question. I believe they also have one for the kindle fire. I'm sure one technically works based on size, but I'll wait for the actual Nexus one to be released.

Then you need the vehicle mount of your choice for your specific vehicle.
I have the iPad version of that mount and it's excellent albeit a bit pricey.
How do you mount it? Screw it on to the dash?
if you click the link above, you should see vehicle mounts.
They make different mounts for each car. Typically without the use of even double sided tape. Definitely no screwing to the dash.
The device mount, bolts to the vehicle mount. The vehicle mount is attached to your specific vehicle. Nothing permanent.
For my car for example, there are two mounts that use no tools at all, and one that uses double sided tape.
I bought a ProClip mount for my phone (Galaxy S II) and was unimpressed to find that it lightly clipped into the dash of my car, but was mostly held on with adhesive tape. On hot days, the tape basically melts and the mount stays lightly clipped in, but sags and moves around. Not the "perfect sturdy mounting solution" that was advertised.
I emailed support and their answer to me (paraphrased) was "well we've sold a hundred of these without issue, so we can't do anything for you".
Oh great, I feel like a moron for spending $85 on a phone mount. So, word of warning, depending on what car you drive and what type of mount you order, it might sag under the weight of the Nexus 7.

I love their holders (made by Brodit) but the dash adapters are weak.
I use a dash adapter from panavise. It is made of steel. The bolt patterns match those used by Proclip/Brodit. Works great.
I wish Brodit/Proclip would support the pogo pins and what-not.
I might try this out here soon, been wanting to do a full in dash install or radio replacement for the Nexus 7 but can't find anything for that.

Nexus 7 Car Dock

I'm looking to use my Nexus 7 in my car for GPS, music, etc. I'd use bluetooth for audio and I ran a long USB cable from my center console's USB port. I just need a reasonably priced dock that mounts in the CD slot that I can stick my N7 in. If it helps I have a 2013 Honda Civic Si.
Anyone?
I've seen several posts where people have permanently mounted theirs in their cars..usually with a lot of customized mounts.

Yeah so have I and none of them said how they did it or where they got them from. I really only need something to go in the CD slot. It's usually just a little piece of plastic that fits in just far enough. Just looking for a recommendation of what people have used or know is good.
Anyone??
Brodit, definitely!
VW Polo 5 (6R), 2012, Brodit Proclip and Nexus 7 Passive Mount (all together ~40€).

http://www.amazon.com/ExoMount-Tabl...id=1384464713&sr=8-2&keywords=cd+slot+nexus+7
I want to do the exact same thing.
I have a car charger with two usb outs, a nexus 7, and an HD2 (yes, i still have it, use it, and its awesome!)
I connect both of them to the charger with usb, connect HD2 to my car audio system and my nexus 7 (BT).
My musics (and my calls!!) are on my hd2, so they play on car audio system.
my navigation apps are on my tablet.
and also i use tablet talk to connect my phone and tablet to each other, and have my sms and calls on nexus.
i used a few mounts but... im really looking forward to use ExoMount Tablet S...
(the only problem is that i cant watch videos or listen to musics on my tablet... trying to fix that with using AUX cable from tab to car audio system)
I kind of have a temp solution. I can actually lean the thing against the screen that has the backup camera, radio station, etc in the dashboard and there's a little lip that holds it in just the right position so it can't slide or tip over.
The problem with the whole "stick it in the CD slot" idea is that the mount then obscures your stereo controls.

I got this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072LATRY/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it works nicely.
In my Mustang, it attaches to the dash and hangs down between the AC vents. Different cars of course have different layouts, but it is very configurable.

For years I would buy a new mount every time I got a new device. Finally I just decided to switch over to the Ram Mount system. They have thousands of different mounts and holders, and make it easy to swap stuff around and find something that works for my new device. They are more expensive than the cheap stuff you get off Ebay, but they last. I have the ball mounts in my car, van, trucks, etc. and they are great.

USB cable coming from the USB port in the console.
Just make a custom mount to your likings if you are having this much trouble finding a solution.
Buy the dock and a cheap snap in case for the N7.
Use carbon fiber to mold your custom mount.
Snap N7 into new mount made out of dock and cheap case.
thats a simple run down but just to give you an idea. benefit of this is you make it the way youd like to suit your needs at the location of your choice in your car.
Civic si, goly that car is rubbishy cheap toy. That car have tons of third market addons for any hardwares to portable addons.
The way you replies, sounds as if you are in mid 20s with a civic si. You should know the Asian civic group in downtown Maryland and the nearby China Town for advices and cheap hook up deals!
I seen civic mods each headrest with nexus 7 mounts for gaming and movies.
Try a Mobio magnet http://www.hellomobio.com its strong and allows you to remove the tablet easily.

über car dock setup Note II/Note 3

This is not a cheap setup, but nothing über ever is though, is it. This is a very solid setup with no wobble and provides close arms reach access to your device. In my car it's not exactly line of sight but other vehicles might have closer mounts. I've never been a fan of windshield mounts as they bounce around too much, can be out of reach in some vehicles, results in cables running all over the place, and in hot states like FL can result in the phone overheating.
Parts Needed
ProClip mount for your vehicle - $30
ProClip mount for the Note II or Note 3 - $35 ~ $90
(Optional) ProClip Dash Express GPS - Device Mounting Adapter - $25
Process
Attach the ProClip mount to your car
Attach the female quick release to the mount
Attach the male quick release to the tilt swivel adapter
Connect quick releases together
The quick release is optional, you can connect the stock tilt swivel directly to your car mount without it. I have several other devices I place there though so by having the quick release on all my devices it makes swapping them out very simple. You can buy extra individual male adapters for extra devices you own (GPS, car diagnostics, other phones/tablets, etc).
My pictures below show;

I'm not a fan of the windshield mounts because here in Florida the sun gets too hot any time of the year. I've experienced too many phones having heat issues because the bake in the sun.
It does look, sound and COST like an uber car dock mount But wouldn't it be easier instead of spending $100-$140 on ProClip setup that might only work with a specific smartphone footprint and not even every case or extended battery, to buy something like Arkon slim grip ultra (http://www.arkon.com/Slim-Grip Ultra/index.html) for $20-$30 depending on mounting option (and I actually reviewed a lot of car mounts on XDA, including SGU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174449) and make it a universal setup for any smartphone from old iphone to the biggest phablet or Nexus 7 or iPad Mini? I recently tested their SM679 model with a ridiculously sticky suction base, and if I would have [email protected] I would even install one of their permanent rail mounts in my Lex lol!!!
Btw, I also just got their new Mobile Grip 2 (http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/) and that one is sick! Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a broken record advertisement lol!!! , but since I on a road 2hr a day using my Note 2 as Nav, the car mount is important for me especially going through swiss cheese pot hole Jersey roads. I didn't test ProClip, but as you can see from my reviews in sig link, I tested and reviewed all the major car mounts. And still, I keep coming back to Slim Grip Ultra, though might have to switch to Mobile Grip 2 now to use my Note 2 as dash cam.
ProClip makes universal holders too. You can also attach any mount type that has an AMPs interface too. Like I mentioned too, window or vent mounts don't work well in hot and humid states. I also think they look fairly tacky and don't want them in my car.

I've used the Mountek nGroove MT5000 for years. It's a universal CD slot mount, fully adjustable for any phone really...
I drive around for work every day for hours and hours.
Downsides... not an actual "Dock" for the M8, rather a holder for the phone. But I plug in with USB anyway to ciglighter
Upsides... Not mounted in Window, so it's in less sunlight than a windshield mount. If you're lucky, you may have a vent near the CD slot so air can flow directly to the phone if you drive for more than an hour.

iBolt docks are pretty good. I've used the one for GalaxyS3 from them and it was pretty solid.
Just got the iBOLT xProDock for HTC Phones and it's just what I wanted - sturdy, can be used with a case, integrated charging cable, which triggers car mode automatically. It's a bit more expensive than no-name car docks, but it's worth it.

How easy is it to put in the dock? I used to have a Droid X car dock, and it literally just slid right in, though from the pictures the iBOLT doesn't look quite that simple. I just don't want something I'll have to fiddle with for a couple minutes every time I put it in.
Pretty easy, you push the spring-loaded upper part up with the right side of the phone and it kinda clicks in.
Go for brodit, they are very good :

+1 for the Mountek nGroove. It works amazingly well, very simple yet well made.
True, its not a "dock" if the OP is looking for something that will connect the phone for charging or connect to head unit.
Only downsides I will add, one should look at the photos of the product before buying, and determine if this holder will interfere or block any controls or displays. For instance, on a few cars, the CD slot is located low on the dash. So it might not be an ideal location for viewing the phone for navigation, etc.; or even interfere with your gearshift knob. But I travel for work a good amount, used this holder on a number of different rental car models, and it works much more often than it doesn't. And it takes about 10 seconds to install on just about any car.
Other downside, if is you actually use your CD player. Mine hasn't had a CD inserted in it for years.
The nGroove is so ridiculously simple and effective that my wife wanted one for herself immediately (so I got her one); and numerous coworkers and friends have commented how great an idea it as, and that they wanted one, too.
