Make a Nandroid back up before starting!
You must be on Stock Rooted J1 Update. To get there start HERE and you should end HERE.
This ROM is different than a "normal" ROM. It only modifies part of the system partition. This is why you MUST be on the J1 Update. It may work perfect on the G3 Update but it is not tested or supported!
Make a Nandroid back up before starting!

Big Thanks to ezgoing2406 For encouraging me to buy one and promising to donate the cost to me if I built the first ROM for it!
Thanks to MrHyde03 for helping me figure out how to bring root to the J1 Masses!

In a way, just dont format system and use the "del_recursive" command to get rid of "apps" and "framework" then unzip the payload. Makes for a much smaller ROM too, I might add, lol :good:
As far as being able to figure the issue out with the full stock root, not yet. But I looked in the RAM Disk and see some stuff that didnt look right pertaining to WiFi and permissions of folders so I am going to look at that lead next.
Maybe we can get a full stock root going...
But for now this does the job quite well!

Awesome! Thank you so much. One request - I use my tab in my car as a media player, and have it hooked up through my stereo line input. Whenever I play music, the tab will turn down the music about 25% (sometimes it will stop the music altogether) and display a warning "playing loud music for extended periods can damage your hearing... blah blah". This was always the case on the stock rom as well. Is there any way you could disable this 'feature' in a future build? Thanks again!

Install was smooth. No real issues. I had to flash back to G3 with odin as some apk(s) my J1 build I was running were modified from stock. No big deal, flashed it back, did the G3 to J1 OTA pre rooted, and installed the rom.
Thanks for your efforts man, your work is appreciated.

[ROM] YetiROM_Nexus_Inc (Vanilla 2.1)- stable

Alright XDA'ers... I finally got this thing working. As far as I can tell it's stable and runs well. All components of the hardware are functional and I haven't had any problems with it thus far. The only bug I am noticing currently is that it takes a little longer than I would like for the mobile network to load (it's not instantaneous) and the camera is only capable of 3M.
Other than that- this is a port from Nexus One shipped rom ERE27- stock 2.1 as Vanilla as the Yeti's driven snow. No frills except root/superuser and wifi tethering. Also I am using the undervolt stock speeds kernel that ejhart posted a few days ago- it's been very stable on my stock setup and has been very stable throughout this build.
Here's the link- download it, put it on your SDcard, backup your current rom, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, install.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mtmann3qog1/YetiROM_Nexus_Inc.zip
Hope you like it...
Let me know what you think.
Known bugs as of 06-29-2010:
-GPS not fully functional (not satellite locks)
-Visual Voicemail
-Auto-dim setting not functional (light sensor does not appear to function)
-Camera 3MP (I know this was already stated)
-Does not include Corpcal.apk for exchange calendar syncing- fixed (thanks to ihtftp69 for providing the link)http://www.multiupload.com/L27MSUCMGX see post #53
-Internal storage not recognized
-Facebook won't add to Account Sync
-Bluetooth not functional

Known issues are as stated in the OP- slow start for mobile network and 3M cap on photos. I think the pixel limit has to do with the Nexus camera and oem software limits imposed on the hardware. I'm not that into cameras on my phones so it's not a deal breaker for me. The pain right now is waiting the minute or two to get 3g up and running post boot. Not sure what's going on there so if you have any suggestions I'm open to giving it a whirl if I haven't tried it already- wifi works and you can make calls immediately- just the 3g takes it's sweet time getting off it's ass to come out and play.

For whatever reason I've been having trouble deodexing this rom- it's a shipped rom so everything should be there. The .jar's are deodexing fine, but the .apk's are failing due to a missing boot class path " " so for now I'm just leaving it as is. You can have at it- maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong...

What happened with the fast reboots? Hasn't happened to me yet and I've been up and running for a while...
Yeah- the facebook thing- I didn't know if that was just a stock deal or not- the inc is my first foray into android.
It also seems to have issues with root explorer when it comes to mounting then unmounting... failed at replacing the bootanimation.zip and manually removing the apps I want gone.

[MOD AOSP] Pulldown Toggles For JT's Vanilla GB [Build GRJ90 V4 080811]

So with complete thanks and praise to dreamsforgotten for this vanilla GB mod located here. This mod worked on the rom out of the box. But signal bar reporting was broken on our device (since it was made for the nexus s4g on sprint). So I only credit myself for finding the proper smali edits to get the signal bars to work with our (fascinate) build of Vanilla AOSP Gingerbread from jt1134 located here.

dreamsforgotten -for the whole original mod.
notta -For fixing my ****!
jt1134 -for doing what he does and bringing a no bull**** AOSP build to the fascinate.
BrwnSuperman -For the screen caps and IRC testings.
sbrissen, nitsuj17, OMJ and all the peeps at #teamsbrissenmod (freenode-irc) that let me lurk and learn.
*special note* kudos to sbrissen, because after staring at smali **** for 4 hours. I can't even fathom the eye problems he must have from bringing the awesome mods he does to our device.
****080411**** OK lets try this again. So notta was kind enough to fix a major bulk of the issues with the USB screen mount screen and usb icon and sync icon in the taskbar. But after looking at the images in the apk I realized that the wifi, sound toggle and rotation ids were still wrong and used the awesome tip from dreamsforgotten and figured out the wrong ids and made the proper smali edits.
****080511am**** Just tested on V3 080411 build. And all is well.
****080511pm**** Added version with text (credit notta on this one). Also sound image smali fixed for all vibrate/sound profiles.
****080811pm**** Fixed USB storage mount (only no text version at the moment)

Well right now their identical as far as guts go. My Rom is based off of his. The only differences is I have a different bootanimation, bootsound, downanimation, lockring, custom over scroll color, my launcher and quick settings are custom built. Quick settings rearranged, % on the battery added at 1% increments, I have my browsers homepage set to Team Reverse website, the recent apps have been removed, the pulldown header and pulldown bar images swapped out with the ones from my pure speed rom. I think their cleaner looking. I opted for the market out of our leak as well.
Thats pretty much it for now.

One thing I noticed is that you mention this is based on Joel's Shooter ROM, and people are getting 150 megs free and I have only gotten up to like 105. Any ideas? Yup I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I plan on repacking the apk's and getting rid of uneeded junk so I'm sure that will help alot. Plus a couple more tweaks here and there.

My bad if that sounded like I was *****ing or something like that, it wasn't my intention. I can only dream of learning and doing as much as you have done in such a short amount of time. I am completely blown away with how rock solid it is for an initial release. I keep rebooting my phone like every 5 minutes just because of the boot animation. Lol I usually find one or two things that could use improvements but so far nothing. Be assured that I will report on anything I find It's hard to judge battery life so far, but it seems pretty good so far. Thanks Stang for this awesome ROM!

This build doesn't crash alot like the last one. You can really see how smooth the UI is.
And what flashing issue did you have?

Awesome. By flashing, I meant how the screen would go black and the weird Chinese error messages would pop up. That got in the way of seeing how smooth it was. For the few seconds it didn't crash, it was very smooth.

No, all of that is fixed. It's very zippy.
Does this mean you have decided.....
Does this mean you have decided to use your development time with ICS rather than finish CM7? So far, your CM7 is coming along nicely, but without video cam support, I may have to go back to a non AOSP build which I don't want to do. Can you tell us if you intend to work on CM7? Personally, I'm far more interested in a clean CM7 than ICS.
Thanks again!

I do intend to jump back into CM7 and clean up some of the open issues. But, I'm on heavy grind seeing how far this ICS build can go and how quickly.
As far as I know making the camera / camcorder work in ICS will be easier than in CM7. But, I haven't gotten into that section yet. It's the ICS audio that worries me.
Right on man! Thanks for all the work you put into the d3

Hashcode, you're a beast dude. Unbelievable
Before I ran this I was all for you keeping on CM7, but after playing around I think ICS is a MUCH BETTER investment of your time! 10 days in (give or take) and this is what is to show, pretty amazing if you ask me!
You live up to you name Hash, keep up the great work we appreciate it =]

What makes this different than task's rom?
I knew someone would say that. Alot of stuff actually and if you were to try it you would see.

I think what really differentiates these ROMs is the customization. If it's still just stock Touchwiz, I doubt we'd notice any difference.
But good job. Maybe when you have a custom theme or post some screenshots

Posted a screenshot. Plus smoothness and speed also differentiates them.

So this is basically a faster version off stock KL1 or KMM? I really wonder if it is possible to do a stock Google 3.2 for this...touchwiz just messes it up.
Anyway good work though. Seems a bit faster.
Btw...why are you using screenshot er when there a whole button for it?
Hooray! New ROM! I'll give it a flash this evening.... Thanks!

Actually its not. Its modified alot more and has more features. And you can't find stock 3.2 that will have drivers for this tab.

Who rated this 1 star... Probably some idiot who hasn't even tried it. .__.
Awesome. Thank you to the probably 5 people who tried it actually out of the 396. Thanks.
Sweet. Another 1 star vote. I should just have this thread deleted. Thanks to everyone for supporting me and telling me what to fix. /sarcasm. Maybe I should give up developing since nobody seems to like my ROMs.
Dude you dont need to be pissed off these people, actually the development of the tab roms is getting slow and you are the only one who posted the last two roms, a great job just by posting these thread to keep the development ongoing, probably the one that rated your rom 1 star is 10 year old kid mostly just trolling around.
All the best.
yeah man screw the haters and be patient with all the feedback as that Android 4.0 alpha has taken all the attention lately. Just giver a week or so with the holiday season and all.
Thanks guys. The reason I'm getting irritated at the raters is because it the rating is so low, people are just gonna be like "oh, 2 stars. Nah, I'm not gonna look at it."

Well, a lot of people will be like that. And you are important because you're an amazing developer.
Was polaris included in the official one.?
