[Help] Titanuim Restore -> Boot Loop - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have done a restore of an Titanium Backup. Now I have a a Boot Loop.
Is it possible to make a wipe? Vol Up + Power + Menu have no funktion at boot.

The only way as far as i know to get into Recovery mode is thru ADB, but since you cant boot the device properly that option is out.
Download your device rom and flash it via Odin.

The problem is not repartition, as titanium does not mess with partitions as far as I know, It looks like your system folder/files are messed up.
The only way you can fix it is with a rom that has wipe enabled or a custom Recovery.
Since none are available as far as I know, your only solution is to send it to a service center.

how can you have a bootloop with a titanium backup ?? never see that...

No need to service center..
I made for you a tar file that does wipe data (without flash again full firmware), flash the attached file via odin.
the phone will reboot automaticly after flash to recovery and do wipe data.

[solved] Soft brick, tablet resets during recovery activities

I have the wifi only 7310 model of the 8.9
Overcme CwM Recovery 5.1.2.6
ROM was Galaxian Soup AOSP 1.6
My tablet resets during recovery. Half through a data wipe ROM install ROM backup or ROM restore it will reset and reboot.
It first happened when i booted into recovery and triedROM issue. to make a back up of m y current ROM and attempt to flash the aokp one. It reset during the backup process.
It shouldn't be a ROM issue. My tablet did this once before, it would reset when i did anything involvng dataon an Overcome ROM i think. Data wipe/backup etc. I left it alone while the ROM still worked and tried again a week later with no issues.
Any ideas? Now i have a soft brick that cant boot past the Samsung Screen. I can get into recovery and download modes.
EDIT* added a video
EDIT2:
The issue was solved.
What ended up happening what i attempted to flash back to stock software, ODIN would stall during the system.img. From this point i thought it was done, but i could still get into the stock recovery, i used the stock recovery to wipe the data after several failed attempts in a similar manner to this video.
One day it just worked. I could finally wipe data and cache without a reset. But i could't flash a file because ODIN would still freeze on the system.img. It was suwandiapr who showed me his walkthrough to push an file to recovery from adb. Thank you so much
I do NOT know why it my tablet/recovery starting resetting when i wanted to do a data/cache wipe/restore or why it decided to start doing it again. I tried the 5.5 cwm, the overcome 5.1 and the stock and none of them worked. Today i tried it on an off chance of boredom and it started working again. It is a confusing situation but that is what happened.
Again that you so much to Mr.Home and especially suwandiapr for all your help
> If you had a back up you can do advanced restore of just your system partition to get you tablet back on, though you will probably still have problem with the recovery
> If not, download the stock firmware tar.
Boot up to download mode using the power + vol combo.
flash the stock tar through odin.
boot up to download mode again.
this time flash the cwm recovery.
boot up to recovery mode.
wipe dalvikcache and data.
install aokp and gapps.
if it fails (cwm recovery stuck and reboots by itself during wiping /data partition or dalvik cache)
,chances are your data partition had been corrupted.
You can try fixing this by reflashing the stock firmware tar through odin again
just this time you need to have re-partition ticked.
and repeat above steps.
Take note that this will format the content your sd card too apart from the /data partition
EDIT: Please post this on the general section next time

Download Odin 1.85
Install Samsung USB drivers (should come with Kies)
Download stock firmware from samfirmware
Check the box beside PDA
Put the .md5 file into the PDA slot
Leave all other options on defaults
Put tablet into Download Mode (power and vol -, select the one that isn't recovery)
Connect it to your PC
Press START in Odin
Wait ~10 minutes
NOTE: this shouldn't wipe the internal sdcard. if you need to wipe that, select repartition and give Odin a PIT FOR THE P7310/7300 MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE OR YOU WILL BRICK BADLY.

im still bricked so if ANYONE has any ideas please let me know.
Do you have a backup of yours in computer? If yes.. Push your file to device with adb...
Or replace with cwm 5.5.0.4.. ( if you not familiar with odin)
From cwm recovery 5.1.2.6 mount your /data and /system..
After that push your file (cwm 5.5.0.4. Zip and your backup file) to sdcard trough adb
Install cwm 5.5.0.4 from your recovery..then reboot..
Before you install your backup file.. Try to wipe and reboot your phone.. If problem still exist.. Your assumption about ROM may right.. But if your booting problem disappear.. I think its because yor recovery..

I never try it before.. how about stock recovery? It will wipe your data partition include SD card..But it worth to try if you dont like ODIN..
here is the zip version..Instal from recovery..
Edit: Do with your own risk..
After looking at the video, I noticed something similar that had happened to me before.
It happened when I tried to wipe the "cache" first, instead of wiping only the "dalvik cache".
After that, whenever i tried to wipe the dalvik cache/reset factory data,
the recovery reboots by itself halfway through.

Check the thread in my signature on the ODIN How-To, Drivers (no Kies/Bloat needed for drivers) and more. If I were you I'd ODIN so the Stock Recovery is restored in place. Looks like something went wrong in your CWM Recovery's installation (could be a bad download you had, it happens). All the files you need (except for the ODIN image) are in my General Guide.

Well, i just don't wipe cache. Only the dalvikcache and all went well..
I have a soft brick, no memory or sd card data. I can get into recovery but i don't have any files on the tablet to flash.
Are you windows user? if yes..
Just like my answer from previous post.. See page one!
Mount your /system and /data partition from recovery menu..(from cwm)
From your computer.. Use this tools for pushing the file flashable.zip to device..
After that you can flash a new rom from recovery..

actually was on the stock ics and tried to install kingdroid by CWM.zip
and wiped data and cache from touch/temporary cwm..
then after install it got stuck on the first screen...
since then have tried to flash stock ics / gb firmwares but not getting past the first screen
first of all, make sure you don't make some foolish steps in wiping your phone., secondly, try to uninstall cmpletely PC kies and reinstall it again after. Once you've reinstalled that, don't open it, just open PC ODIN and try to boot back your phone in download mode. Make sure you have a yellow box on COM:1 in ODIN and use an extracted stock GB tar file and start flashing again.
EDIT: Since you've just mentioned you already wipe data in stock ICS.. are you using a safe kernel when you did the wiped?
if not, you may have toasted your Note.. imho...
it can take 5 to 10 mins after install to start however if it still goes no further and you can get into recovery can you flash any custom kernal,if you can do so then wipe and try to reflash if not i would ask dr ketan as he is awesome and may be able to help
^ No need to wait for that, as OP has already done a stupid thing of wiping on a touch CWM.. something that shouldn't be done at all....
only thing he can do is go to the section for the pit method partition to revive his phone... that's it!

how to access the files i put in my memory card.. or should i flash some other ics stock rom as they have more options in stock recovery ??
no need to aggravate the problem by flashing another ICS... your Note's been bitten already.. don't let it bite twice...
Your last rom flashed is KL3 then have you wipe cache and data from recovery?
If not then do it, it should boot then.
Make sure last rom was flashed correctly and u are currently on KL3
If you have to press home button in recovery to enter your choice then it should be gb (kl3)rom (on ics you need to press power to select)
If wiping cache and data also not work, then flash wipe version of gb rom. If it stuck at data.img then yu have got damaged and should send to service Centre, without doing anything

am i need flash it with other rom?
anyway i get some problem, i can open my recovery but when i press my power button it cannot select any of recovery menu. But i still can navigate wiht Volume button
u can open the recovey so u dont need to worry
firstly do a complete wipe of all user and system data
if u are on plilz recovery there is a option to do so in the wipe data factory reset option called "clean to install a new rom" do it
thenif u have a official jb 4.1.2 firmware flash it via odin if u want to go back to stock or there are many kk roms and customized 4.1.2 roms available here do a research and flash whatever u like

You currently have the stock recovery, not Philz.
Go into your current recovery and go to factory reset/data wipe (use the volume up and down keys), to select it use the power button. Once you have factory reseted your device, reboot.
If that doesn't fix it then do the following:
Download any recent Philz Kernel for JB from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
Copy that to your external sd card (go into recovery and connect your Note to your PC or if that doesn't work, do it through a different phone or an microsd card reader). Flash that file in the stock recovery, reboot to recovery again. Once you have philz, perform a full wipe (you should have that option in factory reset/data wipe otherwise wipe /system /preload /data). Once that is done, reflash with Odin and then again: go to the stock recovery and perform a factory reset and reboot, now it should be working.

Phone doesn't boot, just samsung logo

Hello, I have an s3 mini I8190N model, with CM 11.0 kitkat 4.4.4(cm11.0_golden.nova.20150108) installed on it since nearly its release, the phone worked very fine, till today I entered the ROM manager app and pushed the "Boot to Recovery" button, so now it doesn't boot neither to the system nor to the recovery. I remember having CWM on it.
What I get now is only the "Samsung S3 mini..." splash screen, nothing else.
I have these files ready on my computer:
Recovery-CWM-I8190-Official-TOUCH-6.0.2.7.ODIN.zip
cm11.0_golden.nova.20150108.zip
What should I do now ??
You probably soft bricked your phone, I suggest you to check if you still can go into download mode and flash with Odin a wipe file and then a stock rom, once it is working again flash twrp recovery instead of cwm with Odin and try not to use rom manager, I've heard it causes the brick you have.

Not if you flash the wipe file, you can try flashing the stock rom without the wipe but It's recommended to do a clean install. Another option is to flash a file called PARAM to see if it solves the bootloop. But the way I fixed a softbrick in my phone was flashing param, wipe and stock rom in that order with Odin.
Are you able to go into recovery?

I will install TWRP through Odin v3 on the phone, then I'll flash without wiping data, then I'll recover necessary data(especially contacts) and then redo a clean install with wiping all the rubbish files.
I will tell you after I follow these steps on whether it was successful or not.

Effectively, I installed the missing recovery software (TWRP), and after that I selected from the boot menu in TWRP the "System" entry, then it booted fine and I didn't lose any of my data. Though I have to make a clean flash next time, by cleaning the dalvik cache... etc.

Does flashing stock ROM via Odin wipe data?

Hello,
So my Galaxy S6 is stuck in a boot loop and i've literally tried EVERYTHING already and nothing will solve the problem. Safe mode won't work, clearing the cache partition won't work and USB Debugging was turned off so adb wasn't seeing my device either. I also tried Kies and Smart Switch. I am convinced my phone is soft bricked and I need to recover some very important pictures and files from it. At this point my last hope is to flash the stock ROM via Odin and I saw that some people said that they have successfully done this without losing any of their data. Is this possible? If so how do I go about doing it properly?
Thanks for any help!
Phone is not rooted and 100% stock.
Recovery and Download screens are working.

Because the phone is stuck in a boot loop. Kies won't detect my phone because it never fully boots.
Weird. I completely removed the system on one before reinstalling the system via Kies before sending it back via warranty exchange. I'd suggest trying again. Obviously you will need model and serial #.

Since you can get into recovery, if I were you I'd flash Unikernel (latest version is 9.1 I believe) and then flash a custom rom. If you can get it to boot you shouldn't lose data in the sdcard/download.

Forgot to mention but I am going to have to return this phone to T-mobile for a warranty exchange, that's why I was trying to avoid custom rom's thinking it might become ineligible. Want to be able to recover data and then reset the phone for return
The phone i wiped the system on was returned via warranty with Tmobile (of course I later reinstalled it via Kies). I would install a custom rom to attempt to get the thing up and running. Once you do that then go from there (back to Kies or factory reset...)

Ok, Thank you! I was worried about the warranty exchange. I will attempt to install a custom rom let's see how it goes.
The purpose of installing the custom rom is to attempt to retrieve your data. If you can boot and then successfully get your data, it would be advisable to remove the custom rom and restore it to factory. Let me know how it goes...

If you've got recovery installed it would be just for that purpose. Restoring your backup (i.e., recovery). I gather you don't have a backup?
What device do you have?
G920F International. The Recovery is not a custom one . It is the default recovery that doesn't have backup mode.

Ahh gotcha. Well...if it were me what I'd do is to boot to download mode and flash TWRP custom recovery file using Odin. Once that passes I'd boot into TWRP and do a backup.
You can then reboot into TWRP and try to restore your backup but you'll likely end up in a bootloop again. If that happens...
Then, I'd download a stock recovery (looks like they have your variant here.
I'd then flash the stock recovery using TWRP and then reboot.
If you get stuck in a bootloop again then I would do a factory reset (which doesn't wipe storage which is where your photos etc. are) and then reflash the stock recovery zip file.
I can't say for certain if that'll wipe your photos, etc. or not but I'm not inclined to think it would.

factory reset doesn't erase storage data.
Not sure about otg/pendrive
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I didn't flash TWRP as I learned that Samsung Pay will never work not even Stock ROM flash. I instead pulled some vital data files from adb pull on 'the window of around 1 minute' each time it was active during safe mode rebooting and thankfully Google Photos had a backup of my Photos and videos.
I used the wipe data option on stock recovery that wiped everything. The device is like new.
