Welcome to the world of S3!
The forums for the i9305 are a ghost town compared to the S2 forums but hopefully that will change.
The most important thing to do when you get your shiney new device, before flashing anything is follow the steps in this thread to back up your EFS (It's quite different to the S2, as the i9305 uses the Qualcomm 4G modem)
Once you have backed up your EFS, rooted and made a Nandroid backup you can have fun flashing and trying out ROMs
Enjoy!

Thanks for that. I would have gone ahem 'balls deep' before I realised that I needed to back up anything like that. I certainly didnt do it on the GS2!!!
Anyhow, heres hoping ROM's start coming think and fast for the GS3 4G!
BTW, recommendations of top ROMS, or are the normal GS3 rom incompatible with the 4G model due to the radio?
:good:

You still need to backup EFS on the S2 but it's a much simpler process. 9 times out of 10 you won't need to use your EFS backup but sometime flashing can corrupt the EFS partition and then you have an expensive paperweight. Only way to fix it is off to the service centre.
So as a precaution I always backup EFS before playing with my device
The ROMS for i9305 are in the i9305 development section. DO NOT flash i9300 ROMs!
The partitions are different on the i9305 as well as the radio so flashing a i9300 could damage your phone.
Stick to the i9305 forums and you'll be fine

[Q] Make a custom ROM for Wi-Fi only?

I got disappointed when I heard the Wifi (P1010) model was different in the inside, so it has been a pain in the ass to find something that works with this model.
All custom ROMs for Galaxy Tabs are only for the 3G ones, so it will be nice to see a custom ROM for WiFi only tabs, specially a Gingerbread or Honeycomb one. Even a Froyo rom would be nice.
Any volunteer who wants to make one for us? I will really appreciate your help!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058895
did you even had a look into the DEV section ?
EDIT : before anysteps you'll go through , pls do read all the members post in the thread

Yes I saw that and if I am not wrong, that firmware is not custom, is 2.2.1 and is the same I have on my tab.

New with Tab

Hi, I am new with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7'' 3G+Wifi, with 2.3.3. What do you recommend to me: keep this one, Overcome, or Honeycomb alpha. Please, anyone knows what is the different between CDMA and GSM ROMs? Thanks!

welcome to the hood brother in tab ..
your 1st welcome will be . pls post any thread endup with "?" "Q" in the Q|A section and do not post anything in the DEV section only if you plan to create ROM , Kernel
Welcome aboard.
Also state what carrier you have.
GSM is ATT TMOUS
Sprint, Veriz , Boost are CDMA
I love the Overcome rom, works well for what I want.
Thanks for the answers. My carrier is Orange, from Spain, but I don't know if it helps. I would like to flash Overcome but I don't know how begin. I have experience with Nexus One and Hero, but this seems very different.
Overcome is pretty stable compared to honeycomb. Try it first!
Sent from my GT-P1000L using XDA Premium App
GSM phones use sim cards, CDMA need to be activated on the network and can't be transferred to another carrier easily if at all.
Don't know much about the CDMA as Australia got rid of CDMA a few years ago now...
GSM tabs have a larger choice of roms and kernals to try while the CDMA brothers and sister seem fairly restricted in what they can flash. They, however seem to be ahead when it comes to flashing Honeycomb...
ATM Honeycomb is an Alpha buiild, VERY buggy and not really usable if you need your tab in real life, Gingerbread on the other hand has been fairly stable for a while now. Up to you what you want to put on but before you do, READ the instructions on using ODIN or Heimdall, there are guides here.
Check if you're bootloaders are locked here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 Before flashing
and make sure you take it slow, step by step and DON'T skip ahead when flashing.
Happy hunting for that perfect rom ( please don't ask what people think as Its really a personal choice and the threads have more than enough info for you to make a choice).
Cheers...

You have to root your Note prior to flashing custom Roms. You'll find a useful guide to rooting your phone here.
After you're done with rooting there's at least a dozen custom Roms for you to chose from. Visit their respective threads and get acquainted with their features.
Flashing is the easiest part, you'll see.
No fully functioning Miui rom so far, but one will make an appearance before very long.
And welcome to the Note community. You're in good hands here.
The telus one is different than the international version....look for the at&t forum for the note on xda...
Will I see this phone for sale on sporfsfreaksonline or red flag deals in 2 weeks mr.kakarot???

[Q] Just a little Newbie Help, Please.

First of all, Sorry. I HAVE looked for specific help on this for the past couple of days, and i just cant make head nor tail about it. I can root my phone.. wipe data etc, but when it comes to actually installing the roms is where i become a total fail. If you guys could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a samsung Galaxy ace "s5830i". I really dont like the plain boring menu's etc i just really want a change. So if somebody has some spare time to take me through it and tell me exactly what to do, I'd be very happy....
The rom i would like for my phone is located here...

you can't install that ROM on your phone since that ROM was made for "Galaxy Ace S5830".
Your phone is Galaxy Ace S5830"i". there's a different forum section for your phone.
here's the link. CLICK ME! Galaxy Ace S5830"i"
Thanks

Sorry but I don't know any other sites that has ROMs for an Ace i.
Unfortunately, yes. There's not a lot of developers/users of ace i compared to the first generation of galaxy ace(which is the s5380 w/o the letters).
there's a couple of good roms that are available on the section i gave you tho. you should try them out.
I checked a couple of threads there's an on going CM7 project for your phone.
If you're not going to upgrade phone yet, maybe you should try a custom stock rom and wait for the cm7 to reach its beta.
anyway, you're very welcome to ask me through PM. I can guide you and teach you the basics(since I got nothing to do and I'm bored).
Cheers.

I've had a look, just back from college, so gonna have a proper look, as i got into trouble, never mind though, thanks for the help. I managed to install the xperiatized one last night. But gonna have another look. Thanks again.

old dog needs new tricks..new to flashing samsung devices

Obviously like the title saysim new to flashing samsung devices, i have flashed lots of nexus devices and a few motorola and some tablets, but never used odin until i rooted the note 4.
My questions pertain to flashing a new rom. Id like to find one that keeps as much of the features of the phone as possible id even like to keep touchwiz surprisingly ..i always thought touchwiz was nothing special and just cuased the phone to have less performance but that was going by others statements reading about samsung devices in the past...
really im just not sure what roms i can flash or if it matters what build i have now and what roms i flash from it.
can i flash any rom in tmobile note 4 sections, and i also have a unlocked tmobile device that is running on net 10 wwith at&t towers i dnt kno if that makes a difference. Not sure if i need to flash certsin kernel or modem or anything else ive read a bunch, but its going to take forever to read thru everything. The help is appreciated thanks in advance
Make sure you are on the newest baseband. I believe it is NK4. If you have that you can Fila ah any of the ROMs in the Tmobile note 4 development section. I recommend FireKat, if you want to keep TW.
it's pretty simple. Samsung phones are fairly development friendly and pretty tough to jack up.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Here are the rooting steps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2903733
I'd also recommend firekat for your first rom.
