If your device is unlocked and rooted (if not u can goto HTCDEV site for it) follow this step to get into CWM and install .zip files using CWM storage and mount ----USB storage
Step 1
First of all you need to Download Clockworkmod Recovery from here and extract it on your PC.
Step 2
After this using the USB Cable connect your HTC Sensation XL to the PC and copy the recovery.img file to tools folder in the Android SDK where fastboot.exe is.
Step 3
Now Boot your device into fastboot mode and open command prompt (DOS) or terminal and navigate to the folder where you copied therecovery.img file.
Step 5
Then enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
NOTE: feedback plz

[Q] HBOOT 1.16 flashing CWM for CM7.1 Help

Hey guys im trying to flash CWM onto my incs, I have already unlocked the bootloader via htcdev site.
Every time i attempt to flash it through fastboot usb it doesnt work
I have downloaded the cwm img file for the incs, but have no idea what the md5 txt under the download link means, do I have to do something with that txt in order to do it correctly?
I have the img file saved into the same folder on my pc along with fastboot.exe, adb.exe adbwinapi.dll and adbwinusbapi.dll
I then open cmd and type in cd c:\android (andoid is the folder name with the files above)
After this I connect my phone via usb to the pc and put it into fastboot usb mode
I then type into cmd the following command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and it gives me the message error: cannot load recovery image, I renamed the cwm img file to recovery.img
Ive even tried entering this command fastboot flash recovery c:\android\recovery img but it gives me the same error message am I doing this right or am i missing something? ive followed all the steps from this thread even read all comments http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694
any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
Never mind I managed to flash CWM and Flash CM7

Stuck while updating N1 to TexasICS.Phone not booting.

Hello All,
I am a noob and recently learned how to root, unlock or re-partition, install blackrose etc but using your blogs and wikicynogemod.
I am trying to update my phone to Texas ICS using blog by OP- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366897
I was able to reach till the step mentioned below :
i.e.
fastboot flash hboot hboot_brcrust_220-10-206-ICS.nb0
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w
and now my phone shows TexasICS on the second line that mans it flashed correctly.
I downloaded the tar file "Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0a6" but I am clueless about the next steps.
1. To build Evervol --> How and where as repo command doesnt work on my computer undert android sdk directory
2. tar xjf --> I am using windows 7 and hence no tar on my laptop.Meanwhile I am downloading the zip file also and see if unzip works.
But I am curious where to run these commands- either on cmd prompt under android-sdk directory or the phone emulator.
And interestingly, android-sdk dont have unzip/tar command and I have no access to phone now, its not booting.
Also I cant login to my phone now, when I boot it, its stuck at the Nexus One startup logo, not going further, so I believe I can't put anything in the SD card now.
Kindly help as my phone is not accessible now and I am kind of handicapped because of that
FYI : Recently I upgraded the phone to 2.3.7 using Cynogenmod, clock recovery.
you might have lost ur recovery
so fastboot any preffered recovery.img . put .zip in sd and flash it
or you can fastboot system.img, boot.img n recovery.img

If you have a custom recovery like clockworkmod just turn on your device holding trackball or something (I don't remember exactly) and you'll be in recovery or fastboot. Anyway, go to recovery and restore your nand backup. After that you can keep trying (or read below).
If you don't have a backup you can insert the SD card directly into the computer and copy the Evervolv latest version (.ZIP). Then go to recovery and wipe data & cache then install the zip from sd card.
You don't need to pay attention to the building Evervolv part of the post as it's not needed for the install. Don't forget to flash gapps later if you want to.
Sorry for my English and I hope this helps as I'm a bit noob also

Root for HTC Butterfly S and Desire 600?

Anyone have any idea if there are root methods out for either of these phones yet? I have been looking around but have yet to find any threads about rooting either of the phones.
Bump... Anyone?
Bump... No one knows?
Ill be trying a couple things. Like making a custom recovery.

MotorChopper
Would a MotorChopper method work?
For root, I think you have to get HTCdev unlock from the HTCdev site, then flash a recovery (cwmtouch) from the dev thread and then flash supersu cwm flashable zip after booting into cwm recovery. Details in butterfly forum. No s-off method available though....

I can enter fastboot...Thanks for the advice:good:
hey!
Download CyanogenMod 10.1. then download this recovery CWM
when downloaded copy it to your ADB+FASTBOOT location and make sure your device is in FASTBOOT USB mode. then open CMD window there and type fastboot flash recovery recovery(press tab to auto fill) then press escape
It is says OKAY the click on Bootloader on then select reboot recovery and should reboot into recovery and try mount usb storage to computer from MOUNTS AND STORAGE
Before flashin aby rom, check ur hboot version.
Now, in ur case, copy out ur downloaded rom. Den extract the vold.fstab file (only dat file) located at /system/etc. Open it in a text editor (notepad or notepad++) and look @ d last line.
If u r using hboot 1.28 or 6.28, it should read "sdcard 34"
If u r using hboot 1.25 or 6.25, it should read "sdcard 33"
Save and copy back into d zip file.
Since u cannot access ur memory currently, boot ur fone into recovery and mount sd storage. Copy d now modded zip file to d root folder and flash.
Your internal storage is now visible.
Also, if u have already flashed d rom, u can get a root explorer and navigate to that file and edit it from there, then reboot your phone.
Just professional NOOB trying to be a NOOB professional.

Install any Custom Recovery with Fastboot:
For this method to work, you must have ADB and fastboot installed on your computer.
Copy the recovery image to a convenient location on your computer, preferably with a short path. We will be placing it on the C Drive directly (not in any folder) and using that in the next steps.
Note: The recovery image should have .img extension. If it is in a zip file, extract the .img file from it before proceeding.
While your device is powered on and booted in Android normally, connect it to your computer via USB and
Connect your device to your computer via USB and wait till you see ‘fastboot USB’ on the screen.
Launch Command Prompt and type the following command:
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
Note that we have used c:\recovery.img as we the image extracted at the root of our C drive and renamed it to recovery.img. If you extracted the file elsewhere, use the appropriate path and if your recovery image has a different name, use the appropriate name or rename it to recovery.img first.
Wait for the process to finish and reboot your device once it’s done.
Using the recovery file
